It’s amazing how potted plants roots can grow through the pot into the ground! I planted a new 5-gallon kousa dogwood sapling into one of my garden beds a month ago and it’s doing great. I’ve been very careful about watering it daily if it doesn’t rain. It was delivered in a biodegradable pot and so I was able to plant everything. The pot helps keep moisture around the root system. I’m so excited about this tree and its development. It’s a great counterbalance to rabbits eating my lilies. 😉
I usually go from a 1gallon or 4x9 tree pot straight to a 22 gallon self irrigating pot and they grow really fast. Usually in a season the trunk can be 2-3” diameter. After the first season when it dormant I chop it down to 24” and let it work on branches

What size container do the citrus tree pots need to move to? I've noticed they're usually too tall for 5 gallon pots, but I don't want to put them in a huge pot either.
I use tree pots as shown in the video. From there you can go to a tall 5 gallon then tall 15 gallon.
Is it ok to plant citrus on trifoliate rootstock to be 2 ft from foundation of house? They said it will be a dwarf tree , I have a owari satsuma and meiwa kumquat
your trunk will be 2-3ft once fully matured
Okay so I probably screwed up! last winter mother nature decided she was freez my mango down here in corpus christi texas. I bought 2 more mangoes and I'm keeping them in pots. They were one gallon. I put them into 7 gallon. Nice looking pots for the wife. Is this too large? If so, what should I do?
You might check the roots when it's September, it might take all the space in 7 gal (mango quite aggressive plant), who knows, I've never done so drastically in pot size. Mango goes dormant means you need to be careful with not having too much water in your pot during cold weather

Hey alan, some of my plants have burned tips, im wondering if ts the over 100 texas heat thats causing the burned tips or if im over watering, i water ever 3 to 4 days, maybe not enough water? You have any idea what could be wrong, my fruit trees seem ok, mo burn, but my corn, bushes, are not doing good, we also have clay soil, can you help me fine some sort of solution to this dilema?? Thanks

@@qctropicals I think we'd enjoy an update on all of the ones from seed but I just remember it grew from a fruit that fell and made 2 trees.

What is your opinion on the growbags and what the roots do in them?
grow bags break down in the sun over time. Water will dry faster so automatic irrigation is a must. Otherwise no different than growing in a regular pot.
@qctropicals Thank you for your input. Looks like I need to look for a better watering system.
Placing my containers on deep saucers and watering them until they're full of water provides several hours of additional relief from mid 90's temperatures here in south Florida. The excess water is usually pulled up by the plant or evaporates before mosquitoes can emerge.
