I hope you could do a drum lesson/tutorial/play along video on the song Greek Tragedy by The Wombats.🤗 Superb!🙏🙌 What a great drummer and mentor!! I am so grateful!💖 I've been watching your videos / yt channel to learn drums and have been consciously applying your teachings/ techniques. I have recently completed/ played the song "Dancing in the Moonlight" by following your videos. So fun!!:)) Thank you so much. May the Lord bless you and your loved oned always. 💖🌻
Bro you are the best teacher in the world of RUclips drummers. You have a real knack for breaking things down and really teaching the way teaching should be done.
It's interesting how one's stick control practice (rudiments, technique, etc.) just "shows up" in your playing without even realizing it's there, until finally you realize it's there. The beauty of practicing fundamentals. Something all young people should understand. Thanks.
Apart from my weekly drum lessons, I have learned so much from you in terms of technique. I am so grateful to you and will continue to follow your lessons. 💎 I don't have a card to donate coffees to you, so I will find someone who can transfer that for me.
Just too awesome. Like the way you count, take your time to thoroughly and slowly explain as you play. It really helps. I would like to see your left hand and foot view a little better if you could. ❤️
As my mates and I used to say to DJ's in the 80's - "Got any Ska mate?" I'm so glad I found you on YT, I'm learning drumming to help with my fitness, walking is hard for me but bashing the drums isn't & I love doing it. These how to do a certain beat videos are great but my favourite beats are Ska beats & I'm finding it hard to disect various Ska vids I've found, so I'd love to see a quick demo from yourself. Specifically, I'm a big fan of the late, great John Bradbury, I'm desperate to learn the beat of "too much, too young", especially the iconic intro. I suspect the intro is fairly easy but I'm not knowledgable enough to work it out. Looking forward to your next vids.
After just getting my kit and seeing this, makes me wanna get to this stage asap, lol. Just learning how to hold the sticks atm hahaha, and feels like this is a million years away. Need to dedicate 90 mins a day to practice and another 90 mins a day to exercise, this year is gonna kill me on top of working, need to retire hahahahaha can't wait to be able to jam away to my favourite songs!!

See! This is wha tI mean. The most practical lesson around. Chock full of foundational knowledge, which will only expand, without resorting to the flex show off intro, the bullshit here's it at 80 bpm, and now at 150bpm with ulrta fills, just good honest drumming. You GIVE A SHIT that I get better. You the man, Love from your aussie follower down under, cheers mate.!
@8:10 - many reggae tracks also emphasise the 'one drop' on the one literally. that's getting into the 'rootsier' stuff. sometimes gets jazzy with some swing as well.
I'm late to your stuff but it's great 👍 The one that I need to work on is the "one drop" reggae beat. I am familiar with it but...I'd hate to drive a reggae band. I would say that if you know these 8 beats well...you'll never look silly behind the drums.
Thanks so much for the playlists mike. Invaluable. lot of time and effort gone into those! Feel free to use my playlists “drumming stuff” and “ learn these drum songs” 😎

A great summary of the basics for a beginner like me Mike, really enjoyed that one. Would Sunday Bloody Sunday qualify as a double handed 16th note feel?
Cheers Alan, thanks for watching as always.Yeah, it's kind of a twist on the classic version of that groove, with a bit of military feel mixed in in the way that it's orchestrated between hi-hat and snare. So didn't add it to the list as I didn't really feel it was one you'd really "jam" along to unless you'd learned the part quite specifically. Great call though! :)
