Love a paradiddle groove! Great way to get some serious funk, flow and nuance into your drumming!
    The 6 are:
    Single Paradiddle - RLRR LRLL
Single Paradiddle variation - RLLR LRRL
Single Paradiddle variation - RRLR LLRL
    Double Paradiddle - RLRLRR LRLRLL
    Triple Paradiddle - RLRLRLRR LRLRLRLL
    Paradiddle-diddle - RLRRLL
Right stick plays hi-hat or ride, left stick plays snare - ghosted noted except for the big backbeat hit.
Reverse sticking if you’re left handed!
    Have fun :)

I'm an old fart who's always learning stuff, so I've run into a wide variety of teachers over the decades, and you're one of the best I've ever encountered, Mike. You answer questions I have that no one else does. Thanks so much for sharing. You're creating a lot of good drummers.

I've been playing paradiddle-diddles with paradiddles for 40 years as a warmup exercise in 5/8. I also like them as a sextuplet variation, because with a little "loosening up" they have a different "flavor" than rllrrl or rlrlrl depending on accenting and emphasis. I also like them for moving straight down the toms on occasion because of the tiny extra lead time for my right hand to move to the next drum, allowing for a bit more visual flourish on the way to the next tom. Great for exaggerating the accent on each beat. Just makes them a little more "showy".
Thanks for giving me a new look at one of my favorite rudiments! That little groove is now part of my toolbox. Works awesomely as a 12/8 shuffle! As always, one of the most concise and clearly explained drum lessons on the internet.
    Keep up the excellent work!

    This is incredible!!!
You are such a fantastic teacher. Your instructions are easy to follow, you give a lot of information with brevity, and the transition between talking about the beats and showing how to play them is so smooth and seamless. You're an absolute hero. I'm going to look at the rest of the videos on your channel.
Are you a drum teacher by profession? Or do you just do lessons on RUclips? I'm guessing you teach the drums because of how good you are at it.
