Fun fact! Watching the recording of this in the studio with Jody benson. The director kept telling her. “ no. More held back. Don’t belt. Don’t be loud. Quieter. Hold it back. . He wanted the song to be very reserved and almost like a quiet inner monologue with herself. Haha Jody kept shaking her head yes but you can clearly see she was thinking “ any more held back and reserved you don’t even need me 😅
Jodi Bensons was in musical theatre her whole life and couldve easily hit the same notes Halle did but POYW was sang that way intentionally. Howard Ashman, who was a genius, trained Jodi on how he envisioned this song to be. He didnt want Jodi to hit big notes and to keep it more like a dialogue that Ariel is having to herself. He felt just focusing on bigger notes, took away from the song and wanted Jodi to focus more on expression, exaggerated words, and taking bigger breaths as he felt doing this was more powerful to show how Ariels desires/how sad she was than just another great song with strong vocals. Jodi has said that whenever she sings this song, she can still hear Howard in her ear and always trys to do it just as he wanted her to.
Sorry, Halle’s tone is better and younger for Ariel. Even when ppl put Halle’s version over the animated it still works. Maybe he wanted her to do it that way, but it did not convey deep sadness at all, it works for an animated version but live actions are real actors who have to convey a lot, there’s not a way to do the same subtlety with a live action nor would anyone want to. Idk man, that version didn’t make ppl cry and Halle’s version gave ppl chills.
@@sashav.3189 i have to disagree.. when you say this, you’re literally talking about one if Disneys biggest songs for the past 34 years… it resonated with people for a reason and Howard knew exactly what he was doing. Halle has a great voice, but I didn’t feel the passion in Halle’s version… it was great for like an end credits cover, kind of like Ariana Grande with Beauty & the beast.
Sorry but the old one sounds dated. While good for it's time it definitely would not do as well as what the Halle version does now - it would not bring new viewers/listeners in. Not to mention there is a ton of people that feel the emotion in the new one, so yeah, I understand it's just your opinion though.
@@krayzielyrics Thats okay. Im not blind to the fact that a lot of people like the newer version. Pick the one you like more. Jodi’s is more than 34 years old and one of Disneys biggest, which Billboard just named the greatest disney song of all time for a reason…. And that is not an opinion but a fact.
@@MARS0l You're obviously biased and it's okay to admit that. I love both Jodi's and Halle's versions smm, but trying to discredit Halle by saying that you couldn't feel the passion in her voice is just plain ABSURD as well as comparing it to Ariana and Johns cover. She clearly conveyed more passion than Jodi and that's okay as Jodi was very rigid because of the producers directions. You seem to forget that Halle's version resonated with millions as well. Just give both Ariel's their flowers and move on.
Why do we have to pit the original and live action version AGAINST each other instead of appreciating BOTH for their respective charm? Both are absolutely brilliant in their own way! I think it leads to a better discussion overall and less toxicity in the comments :)
Here's the thing if your gonna adapt a TV series or a movie that held up so well throughout the years and is beloved by all and made made changes that doesn't live up to that respective IP with the same characters, world building and storyline. Your going to compare it! There's no way around it especially when they made changes that weren't necessary nor add anything to the story. While the Live action is ok it doesn't live up to the original Disney adaption nor surpassed it. Most of them didn't. So your gonna have complaints
This is just like "I Will Always Love You". Dolly's original is great and Whitney's cover is different and great. Both delivery served different purposes; can't choose between them! Howard Ashman had a particular vision and heavily directed Jodie to the breath for the original. Halle's is a refreshing update. Both wonderful to come back to 💕
Well ofc 6:46 is wrong, it’s literally the villain selling Ariel a fake reality to trap her into her contract. And in the end Eric fell not only for her beauty but for her spirit and personality.
She didn't even say that putting it into the film was wrong or a bad choice, all she said was that she never realized the message was bad and multi-layered until this watch through. Acknowledging it isn't the same as critiquing it, don't be so defensive.
I am obsessed with like both of them. The original will always be my favorite Disney movie. But I really love how they captured it in live action. Just everything is my favorite. I really have nothing to complain about honestly. Of course there’s things I wish they kept or changed but I think they did a fantastic job and I’m obsessed.
@@J.P.Roblesthe Hunchback is forever my favourite Disney movie! Best score, best characters, best “I want” song. Best villain. Best villain song. There’s so little about the Hunchback I dislike. I love it so so much.
One of the things a lot of ppl miss in poor unfortunate souls is, Ursula was being deceitful throughout the song including the “body language” etc etc. small side note about part of your world, Ariel was singing “part of that world” only in the reprise on the rock does she sing “part of your world” just a detail that is often overlooked, leading to miss nuance of the story. (\^-^/)
I think Halle Bailey's "Part of Your World" sounds better as a piece of music, but the quieter/more internal Jodi Benson version of the original fits the scene's emotion better.
I love how in the live action it wasn’t daddy I love this man I’ve never met. This Ariel came across much more mature to me bc as an adult, I cringe when I hear Ariel say she loves a man she’s never even talked to. The live action was much better to me. It kinda ruined the animation for me bc now it kind feels flat. Everything was much bigger, the music was better it had alot more funny moments, they built Eric and Ariel’s friendship and built their love story, Vanessa was amazing, Eric’s backstory made sense, there’s a couple scenes I wish they had included but I’ve never gone to the theater to see a movie more than once but I have gone now 5 times with this one.
I loved both but imo the original will always be better. The remake was awesome in its own way, dont get me wrong, but there was a lot from the original such as the beautiful colors(the remake still had a realistic amount of color), scenery, character expressions, ect. that either wasnt added or just didnt translate well into live action. But for what the remake is, is still great. Just a bit watered down (pun intended lol) imo but still a good film, i just like the original more 🤷
Prince Eric is 21 in the animated and live action. I was taken aback by that as well. The remake is superior in every way for me. They build on Ariel and Eric's relationship so well and they really show them falling in love without the need for her ability to speak. It's beautiful.
For me, while I appreciate all the wonderful performances of the live action, the original has an irreplaceable charm. I appreciate how the animators provided great lighting and camera work with the storyboard, not to mention how well the voice actors delivered each of their lines with so much emotion that was a bit lacking on the live action. The way each character had a different intonation for particular lines, it was truly a masterpiece. I'm not pro-animated version here, I'm just pointing out what I observed
Jodi Benson made a cameo in the live action version when she went to the town with Prince Eric. This movie came out when I was 6 years old. It seems like the adults are more critical of the new movie rather than kids.
The Little Mermaid (2023) is truly the best Disney Live Action and revamped the original story in the best way. The live action truly made the story so much bigger and dramatic. The happier moments were happier… The sadder moments were sadder… EVERYTHING WAS BIGGER
This is when Disney started using CGI and went back to the princess musicals (this & Beauty and the Beast) that worked before, and they also did the other non-princess focused films like Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Huncheback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Brother Bear & Tarzan.
Just because Ariel does not have a voice does not mean she's acquainted to only fall in love with her beauty that's not the point of the movie how else would deaf people fall in love I think it's a small way of representation but it's a good way of representation
If you would like to know about somebody who has literally had their voice taken away, just watch “Celine, Dion, intimate portrait with Joan London. I won’t say anymore here, as you can look it up for yourself, and figure out why Celine Dion would be a good Ariel. She still does that Tuesday at times, doesn’t speak at all… No laughing, no, coughing, nothing. Leave me the short of it, she had to do this in order to protect your voice. I won’t give anymore, but she can still sing to this day due to that and the vocal exercises she was pretty much forced to do, 45 minutes each day precisely.
So many people are flocking to the comments to rudely put down the live action because they think it’s going to bury the original which isn’t the case at all. The original will always be charming and cute. It wasn’t too complex in its storytelling which was great for little kids. The nostalgia will always be there. Jodi’s talent is still very apparent! Halle and this remake brought a fresh retelling of the story. Now that I’m much older though, I appreciate how they fleshed out characters more, gave them romance (which was built up more) and also purpose in their lives outside of that romance. I also love how more complex POYW is musically and also emotionally. It reflected the live action story better imo. I think we can all agree that Scuttlebutt was not needed though. I’m sure it could make some little kids laugh but ehhhhh I would prefer to have it cut LOL
I agree with all the things you said but Scuttlebutt. Honestly, it made me laugh too and i was excited listenning to this. It's a really cute song, and maybe not needed but i am happy they added it
I saw this in theaters, i was 4. It is one of the oldest memories i have. I had to go to the bathroom, I clearly remember turning the corner back into the theater and seeing Ursula's ghost hands taking Ariel's voice. The echoing "keep singing!!" So so scary. But i loved it. Ask 4 or 7 or 37 year old me what's my favorite color the answer is "Red, because of Ariel's hair." I am the fan this remake was made for. Part of Your world is one of the nightly lullabies I sing to my kiddos and so it is the only song of the 2023 that doesn't hit right. Its beautiful and I appreciate it for what it is but i can't quite sing along. Lastly I cried for several minutes when a certain cameo happened. It was subtle, sweet and perfect.
That’s actually not a boner that is his knees. If you look at him when the birds are coming towards them you will see his knees. That fact that it’s the villain telling Ariel to attract Eric sexually tells you it’s wrong. Personally, I prefer not building Part of Your World right away. Adding the build up early on leaves less momentum available later and makes sound more like someone reciting a song. Howard Ashman certainly knew when to hold back.
I think we need to stop comparing both Ariel singing voices. Jodi Benson's voice was not made to be this big boom and dramatic type of pop singer voice, even then it made a massive impression to millions of people, including Halle Bailey herself who adores the Little Mermaid and was inspired by the OG. Halle Bailey's voice is indeed more powerful and dramatic, and she nailed it perfectly. She truly is a new Ariel for the modern generation. But let's not take away from Jodi gorgeous and talentend singing for not having a voice that like a pop star has.
Miss Dion can do that, too, gently whisper before blasting a note, and having really strong hang times. Of course, her vocal runs are really well done as well.
I think Jodi Benson was born to voice Ariel. She has that youthful, playful and sweet sound in her voice. She even sang a song about Disneyland in a musical adaptation of MGM's "Smile"
I listen to Disney music all the time. When the reprise comes on, everything must stop. And I have to wait until I can tilt my head when she does. And then feel the wave breaking. Then I can go back to whatever I was doing.
We live on Lake Tamarack, and my mom used to joke that she used to check us for gills before we went to school. Every summer where are usually in or around water somewhere. Our business has a pool as well, which overlooks table rock Lake. Yes, of course, is in Missouri and in the United States of America.
I already saw the new one and let me tell You that there is no comparison with the original, the new one is a half and half for me not too good and not too bad and now I appreciated the original 1989 Even more ❤because they change many things from the original that is my opinion of the 2023 movie and the 1989 is a Masterpiece🎉 and the 2023 one is a different movie for me but like I Say before is 50/50 for me for some many things that are different and one of them is that they eliminated all the Classic and beautiful dresses😢and the customs for all the characters were different, Ariel in the original is My favorite character 😍❤. In the new one Vanessa in the new one wow she is My favorite from this movie 🤩💜and who understand me please leave a like .
The Little Mermaid Live Action takes the classic story to a whole new level! The revamped narrative is incredibly captivating, with intricate details that make it even more interesting than the original. The musical performances are absolutely outstanding, and I must say, "Part of Your World" and “Under The Sea” truly stole the show. But even some of the new songs. The cast delivered epic renditions that, in some aspects, surpassed the original soundtrack. However, whether you prefer the new or old soundtrack is up to interpretation. Let's keep the conversation positive, everyone! Overall, this adaptation offers a fresh perspective, immersing viewers in a world filled with wonder and magic.
@@rydbthatsme yea don’t get me wrong, THE OG IS SOLID still beautiful til this day, but there were some songs that either surpassed or added even more depth than the original in some aspects. But I agree the original still holds up well.
The original fairy tale was written by Anderson as a love letter to another man he was in love with. It is still difficult today, at the time it was impossible for him to openly talk about his love for another man. Hence the metaphor of Ariel that cannot freely 'speak' to her love, it has nothing to do with her being dumb and make him in love just with her look. Ursula says that because she is the villain of the movie so obviously she says bad things that are not right. I watched The Little Mermaid for the first time when I was 8 and I got that already. I never thought what Ursula did taking her voice away and tell her to seduce the prince with her look was the message of the movie.
I haven't watched the old version in so long and I definitely need to fix that but regarding the part where Ursula tries to convince Ariel that she doesn't need her voice in order to attract Eric, I actually think that that part was good in terms of showing how manipulative Ursula is and how she demeans Ariel's worth as a person, specifically. This is her pretty much saying "You don't need your voice, men don't want women who are talkers, they like women who look good and can respond to them", which also comes off more as Ariel's own distinct feature being her voice and therefore also her personality (which comes off partly through her voice and speech) not being important at all and wouldn't be important to Eric. This part is cut from the live action likely because they probably didn't want it to be taken the wrong way, but [slight spoiler: I think it should've been kept in because in the live action you particularly notice how Eric DOES in fact listen to Ariel, even when she isn't capable of speaking. He goes wherever she'd like to go, he answers any curiosities she has, and they both respond to each other in a specific way. So that imo goes against Ursula's would-be point about her voice not being important but only her body, when Eric falls in love with Ariel beyond just the beauty of her voice]
I just love the voice of Ursula here, and one of my own characters from fiction… Sort of transaction numbers, work, as the middle name of Ursula. However, she is a lot nicer than the sea witch… Even though she is the daughter of God, wearing clothing that is not Greek, bbut Powermonic. Of course, Powermonia is my own making, similar to the very real country of Jamaica.
I love your reactions. Most of all, I like your charisma, and the way you describe and analyze so clearly and in detail each musical segment of vocal exploration. I've loved singing since I can remember and I've been singing as an amateur, and that's why I'm so grateful for the fact that there are people who want to share all their knowledge with the rest of the world, especially us singers.... Thank you for everything you do....💝🎼🎵🎶💓🙏❤🔥 "How many wonders can one cavern hold?"...❣
The live action version is better. The way they developed Eric and Ariel's relationship, you actually see them fall in love and that makes you want to root for them even more. The little changes they made like the way Eric finds out her name or the way she "signs" the contract with Ursula. Or little additions like her helping Max. Everything just makes more sense. The original will always be special, but the live action elevated the whole story to another level.
I find it weird that the concept of "love at first sight" is now considered "messed up" in american culture... Ariel isn't a pole dancer trying to deceive Eric into spending money on her. A person personality isn't just conveyed through words either... Actions speak louder than words as the saying goes... At the end of the day, Ariel fell in love with Eric just by looking at him from a distance, and she believed Eric would feel the same way if he had the same opportunity.
Tbh, its just my opinion (and pls dont fight with me on it or try to change my mind in any way) but i like the live action WAY more than the animated version and its cause they changed all the things i didn't like about the animated version (not original cause original is Hans Christian Andersen's tale) about how ariel is MARRIED at 16?! She fights with his dad about how "daddy i love him!!" She kinda acted spoiled in that clip, falling in love with a person just cause of his looks...cause she never met him how would she actually KNOW him? and how she made that decision in anger and told Sebastian "why dont you tell my father? You're good at that" and how she easily chooses the "man" over her family when Ursula mentions "that's right! But, you'll have your man, life's full of tough choices innit?"...and then on land, she's shown very dumb-like? And how she's a literal MERMAID at the end and couldn't jump back in the water when she was at the bottom of the tornado thing? She could've flopped over to the water(as funny as that sounds😂) And how Erik was standing over her when she turned back into a mermaid...he looked disgusted 😭i liked the live action where he hugs her and holds her close and tries to back Ursula off...and btw, it was never mentioned in the film that Ursula was after Triton until the very end when she mentions it herself? It was always implied to me that she was after Ariel or the prince for some reason? Cause, "Although i dont blame you, he IS quite a catch isnt he?😏" And the whole verse of poor unfortunate souls about how a woman who is silent gets the guy otherwise she doesnt cause he doesn't like her for her conversation, he likes her when she is silent and knows "body language" And how Ariel didnt even apologize and had no regret on her face whatsoever 😔 that animated version gave me "spoiled girl gets what she wants in the end, happily ever after, after all" vibes and i didn't like that....I LOVE the live action version!❤
To be fair. Ariel having doubt about giving up her voice because she wonders how she could speak to him.. So Ursula is lying that men dont like girls who talk, to trick Ariel. You know, Ursula is evil, her saying something like that isnt messed up, its just what evil do, lies :P
original disney movie from 1989 is the best in my opinion i saw it on vhs i was 7 in 1991 my family member rented it at the video store in 1992 when i was 8 a neighbor gave us some of there disney movies on vhs including this one i have seen the 1989 classic 31 times
Also I’m the new “under the sea” yes it’s not as colorful and loud. BUT… there a whole almost minute and half of just music and dancing in the new live action one in the middle of the song that is soooooo loud and colorful and fun. But it’s not in the recording 😅😢
It's just so much more enjoyable movie-wise with the songs from the Original. It's hard because it is already established & known so it just feels right. But I like my broadway on broadway & my soundtracks to go perfectly w the movies. The new didn't fit for me at all. Although MAJOR props to Melissa McCarthy, she killed it when it was very unexpected. Wasn't expecting to like her as Ursula as much as I really did. She did great and was the only character who felt authentic playing off the original movie- sorry, that'w how it felt as I watched! No one else felt like they were playing off the originals, save for maybe scuttle as well. lol .... The new one was too disconnected & weird for me. And the very odd way the actresses were waving their arms about & bobbing their heads? , creeepy...
The original is obviously animated, like, even the expressions are animated, in a way that humans can't do it in a live action... so people should watch the live action without expecting the things that are unable to do.
The original is a classic, but the ways they "fix" it and change it so much that now I think they broke this classic. Jodi Benson said so herself that the song "Part of your World" should be sung with emotion, it's not about how many different skills you can put in there but the emotion conveyed through singing the song, which I think only Sierra Boggess got the point after Jodi Benson. The animated version was that way with the romance part because they only focused on the important parts you need to know for the story, there are hints in the animated version that they did more things in that one day tour around the kingdom than what we see on screen, they don't need to tell you how everything goes, our brain fills in the blank and that's what Disney movies are made for: Imagination. You don't need to tell me every detail when what you want to tell me is a fairytale. The voice actors delivered the energy with the lines and songs, which I think is really lacking in the live action. I think the live action version really shouldn't mess with what Ursula sang or said, she's the villain, which we should keep in mind that she didn't have good intentions, her goal is to get more power, control, and she manipulate people to make deals and she will sabotage the deal if she know someone who almost fulfilled their side of the bargain. The way there is a distinction between villain and heroine/heroes is because the animated version is teaching the children by showing what behaviors are good, what behaviors are bad and you should follow the good behaviors. The classic version feel real, growing up watching the animated version, I always feel for Ariel and I follow her emotions throughout the animation, but with the live action, the emotions are really lacking, the actress need some mime classes because I didn't feel the strong emotions like I did with the animated version with how the lines were delivered in the live action, it sounds like she just have the lines there and she tried to say the lines as flat as possible. And they destroyed the cute romance with the live action and they destroyed Eric's character along with it, I don't feel sorry at all now the live action version is failing because they very well deserve it by having no creativity at all.
No idea what movie you saw, but it definitely wasn't the new live action Little Mermaid. Halle imbues her character with emotion at every turn. As for "destroy[ing] Eric's character" from the original, WHAT CHARACTER? He had NONE. Now, he does, along with interests similar to Ariel's to help him bond with her. They actually develop this relationship much more deeply in the live action. Also, the live action isn't failing in any way. It's already surpassed 200 million domestically in less than 2 weeks, and by this weekend will pass domestically what the original made in multiple releases worldwide. It's already passed 1/3 of a billion dollars worldwide.
@@DavidHHH99 Well I'm not sure what movie you saw either because Sierra Boggess is experienced with the singing while also acting sort of thing. And they need much more than 200 million to break even, count in the production cost and marketing cost and the fact that there might be more cost regarding the international interviews and whatever stuff they're doing, they need way more to break even and be profitable. Eric is actually the first Disney prince to have a character, he's easygoing, he's compassionate, sweet, noble, brave, kind, confident and every part of his character is screaming that he's husband material, and LOOK at what they turned him into in the live action. In the live action, they took the guy that he is, every bit of a husband material and turned him into a pathetic wimp who is filled with self doubt. The relationship in live action version? Oh geez they're not even going for the love aspect when they're doing the live action because they said they want to change the aspect that Ariel going up to the surface just for a man when in the original animated version, the man isn't her only motivation, The Little Mermaid was made in a time that they decided it's time to give both the hero and the heroine more role in the story, and Eric is the first prince to have a personality, a character, ideals, hobbies and all of that like a normal human being. You can keep dreaming, but this movie is going down anyway and people will always remember how great the animated Eric is.
I saw the live action in theaters recently and I actually prefer that one over the original! The original movie never really moved me as a kid honestly. I didn’t really enjoy the pacing and the lack of chemistry between Ariel and Eric was a little boring to me. I really like the new additions to the story in the live action but, I with we got to see the sparkly dress in the live action! That was probably my only critique lol. Rest of the movie was gorgeous and Halle’s singing was incredible
As coupon stated, the Gyptian is a person who lives on a boat, only coming to land to sell their craft. Land, lopers, or people like us, people on land… But I hate it. I love the water, and this case, I think I would like being a mermaid. There’s still half of you, so that’s good. You’re not all scales and tails, this path.
Maybe, Miss Audrey, it would have been nice if Celine Dion had an aerial… Don’t you think? Then, you would’ve had one hell of a tail… TAIL, not just the a LE. That would’ve been fun, I think.
Personally i feel like the scenes are way more iconic in the original, prettier outfits and WAY more magical but i personally prefer the character development the live action brings. You get to know better the characters, ariel's and erics relationship is built un such a beautiful and natural WAY in the live action while in the original IS just too quick and unrealistic
I love this version of part of your world much more, it's a lot more intimate and fits the scene overall, halle' version feels more like a music video to me personally
I far prefer the original Part of Your World. But it's a stylistic preference, not a matter of talent or song. Halle Bailey has a beautiful voice, but I didn't like the direction. It’s like she was told to do a power ballad, when in reality Part of Your World is like a private monologue. That's my preference anyway. I thought it more interesting and more suited to the plot.
I loved both of them! Both were super amazing and loved them both! People have to stop comparing just like people have to seperate the product and the author. (Ie. Harry Potter and JK) Loved your video! Melissa Mccarthy nailed it as always. Halle was amazing and Diggs was perfect as Sebastian and Awquafina as Scuttle too!
Holy shit, y'all are numb. The live action insult is LITERALLY an adaptation of the ANIMATED MOVIE. Of course they're going to be compared. Especially when one is shit. And guess which one that is? The insulting garbage from 2023.
@@Whatever94-i4u Don't destroy one's childhood if you don't want a battlefield. The original was literally my favorite movie growing up and is still the only Disney movie I truly love. I had a shit childhood and one of the only things good about it was the animated movie. As a pale redhead who sings, feels out of place, and puts love first, Ariel was MY princess. She was the only one I saw myself in. But us white redheads don't matter, hence why it's our characters constantly taken away and given to someone else instead of making new characters for others. And I hate seeing brainwashed people support the crap that Disney keeps pooping out.
Your missing the whole point 1: Ariels friends are just trying to help her Appreciate Your Friends 2: Ariel’s voice represent her internally 3:it doesn’t give a bad message to young ppl in the end Eric realizes she’s the one by her voice .. that’s why he fell in love w her in the first place he didn’t fall in love w her looks u ppl don’t even know what your talking about 4: and clearly as kids watching this we knew Ursula was bad kids these days need to be exposed to Villains so they be careful and know what to watch out for.. the message behind the little mermaid is Ariel saved Eric from drowning and woke him up by using her voice, but when Ursula takes away her voice, Eric couldn’t fall in love with just her looks and wanted to find the girl with the voice - meanwhile she was standing right in front of him. Giving up on her voice was a mistake. She really didn’t realize how important it was until it was gone. You have a voice embrace it Love bother versions of the movie but for me the connection between her and Eric in the remake was not there the whole romantic feeling was lost
The little mermaid was always my favourite Disney movie. I saw the live action version and it was still as captivating, but the ‘89 version was my childhood. As for the concerns of the animated version, has anyone read the original HCA story? Fairytales way back in the day were awful. Cinderella, the little mermaid, sleeping beauty and so on… Disney made those films in to bright, fun things with incredible music. And now they’re recreating them to be more appropriate for today, like they did from the original source material. Does nobody just enjoy anything anymore without “deep diving”?
I think it’s because she isn’t in the US or another English speaking country (not sure if they have a subbed version instead where she is and wouldn’t be able to see it in English…). So she has to wait until it comes to streaming. Audrey is also very scared of deep water, so watching it on a huge screen might not be the best idea…, but don’t worry streaming also plays a part in the overall success of a film. Although box office is better…
She actually explained why in other videos she has made. She wants to do a “first time reaction” video for her patreon followers where she watches the entire movie for the very first time with her genuine reactions to the new film and its music. She can’t have genuine first time reactions to the film if she already watched it in theaters on her own. And she can’t take a camera into the movie theater and talk through the whole film in the theater expressing her reactions while watching it. So it does make sense. 🤷🏼♀️
@@BubbleMonkey15 Also true, the logistics between a first time reaction and where she is geographically (because she thought about how to see it cinema at one point) does explain why she plans to watch it on streaming and it does make sense…
They should've never taken the body language part out of the poor unfortunate soul, she's lying to convince Ariel into making a deal, it fits the context. This move is a prove that Disney is trying to satisfy EVERYONE instead of wanting to tell a good story.
i greatly disagree. clearly from the criticism, some people will never be satisfied. it was a great story to me. i barely missed the line in the new one.
@@jenng7389 i haven't watched the movie, not sure if Melissa Ursula explained that Ariel might loose her voice, it sure isn't in the song, so if the payment isn't discussed, how would Ariel know that she was gonna loose her voice, if she knew, Ursula had to convince her, maybe they don't need a whole chorus but at least keep some part of it otherwise it won't make sense, besides of they could spend time writing horrible songs like scuttlebutt why not spend more time refining the original iconic songs, just saying
Even though the live action is enjoyable, what made Little Mermaid so iconic was its lack of complexity, just going for simplicity and meaning. Yes the songs they made could have been sang in a very overdramatic way, and overwhelm the audience, but that wasn’t the true intention. And that’s what made it so good and what was completely forgotten on the new version.
Jodi Benson was literally directed to sing the way she did by Howard Ashman! Her version is meant to be sadder and quieter while Halle's is a loud declaration.
I Will say it’s sad you’re technically not supporting the movie because you want to capitalize from it on your patron, especially when you got so many views because of it. You’re entitled to your choices, I just find it strange.
the live action was way better and i grew up with the animated one. People are blinded by nostalgia thats why u cant accept when a remake or live action is better. Movies like alice in wonderland, maleficent, etc are way better than the animated films
@@christianhowze4137 I have seen it and it was a bunch of woke crap, why was Ariel the one to kill Ursula cause she's a girl and we can't have a guy kill the villain also why are all her sisters different races? Why didn't they have the wedding boat like in the original? Why is Eric's mom black? Why is Grimsby Latin? Why is Scuttle a woman and how can he talk underwater? If Ursula and Triton are siblings then why is she white? Plus the songs sucked, they were much better in the animated version.
They’ve tried to correct a lot of the inappropriate content in the original. Max (the dog) is definitely in the movie (even though Jonah Hauer-King, who plays Eric, is allergic to dogs). I actually think they went too far with trying to correct things as something you’d expect to happen doesn’t (and I thought it was a bit disappointing).
I have to disagree with a lot of what you said. The classic feels more real. And you can say the new one is better and more dramatic but what I loved about the original is you did feel the emotion. From Ariels sense of wonder of the human world, from her fathers anger , to her giving up her voice and the climax. In the new one they have Ariel save eric again at the end. In the original they have Eric save Ariel because at that time she had saved him at least twice so it was nice to see him do it. Then that ending with the giant Ursula is still terrifying because with hand drawn animation you get more of sense of a character. You can add shading, more crazy looking eyes etc. I gotta go 100 percent classic .
@@christianhowze4137 Ok first off ' girl' I don't have to see the full movie to see its not for me. Everyone that's young may love and praise it but from what Ive seen it has low energy, it was made so people can be happy and for Disney to make a cash grab. All diseny remakes are horrible sorry to tell you. I listened to the new little mermaid sing to me she doesn't have the same energy. To me the new one falls flat. If you like it good for you. But don't hate on people just because they don't praise it because they don't happen to like it.
@@DarkMoonGeneral “GIRL” please go straight to the Ursula’s cave. You really just sat here and made a whole critique of the live action when you haven’t saw it. Just say you’re old, stubborn, and boring. How dare you attack the live action without watching it?! Every movie is seeking to earn money, that doesn’t take away from the integrity of the film. The original was a cash grab! You’re so ignorant

Lin Manuel Miranda helped with some new scores of the movie, with the legendary Alan Menken. 🙌 I'm eager to see the new live action.
The real little Mermaid “Part of Your World” clip just came out!
Scuttle in the animated movie is done by a comedian named Buddy Hackett
They are both so so good and I think it’s useless to compare them
Some people do, but the real fans don't
The original will always be more memorable. They messed with the songs too much in the live action.
What do you mean by IP
This is just like "I Will Always Love You". Dolly's original is great and Whitney's cover is different and great. Both delivery served different purposes; can't choose between them!
Howard Ashman had a particular vision and heavily directed Jodie to the breath for the original. Halle's is a refreshing update. Both wonderful to come back to 💕
I can Whitney 😊
I prefer Whitney's cover though, it's just so much bigger and powerful.
WHITNEY.... just can't be beat!!!!!
YEEEEES!!
I was so ready for the remake and it didn’t disappoint
I love the original a lot but personally my favorite is the Hunchback
@@J.P.Robles same
@@J.P.Roblesthe Hunchback is forever my favourite Disney movie!
No one and I mean no one can replace Pat Carroll as Ursula I grew up with the little mermaid and it’s my favorite movie of all time
I think Halle Bailey's "Part of Your World" sounds better as a piece of music, but the quieter/more internal Jodi Benson version of the original fits the scene's emotion better.
I love so much the original version. 😊
I just noticed 9:29 that Ariel didn’t have shoes when the shell broke at her feet but when Max runs to meet her she’s wearing shoes
Jodi Benson has a live concert on RUclips singing Part of Your World. Might be interesting to compare her concert version with the animation version.
SPOILERS!!! but we get Max in the live action and what Ariel does to Max will make your heart melt!
OMG it was subtle and yet powerful enough to make my heart swell.
I’m so excited for this, recently I found this channel and I’ve been obsessed!! She’s funny, pretty, and seems very kind!
Just a bit watered down (pun intended lol) imo but still a good film, i just like the original more 🤷
Good points, is how I feel about it exactly.
Prince Eric is 21 in the animated and live action. I was taken aback by that as well.
The remake is superior in every way for me. They build on Ariel and Eric's relationship so well and they really show them falling in love without the need for her ability to speak. It's beautiful.
Eric is 18 in the animated film. They made him 21 for the live action. 🙂
@@melissabradley2418 Ariel is 16 for the animated film, they made her 18 for the live action 🙂
Well no poop. Kids like poop shaped Playdoh for eff's sake.
I too was 6 when it opened in '89.
Hey Audrey, just wanted you to know that Disney just uploaded the FULL version of the live-action version of Part of Your World 😊
The original movie is very memorable in a way that can’t be duplicated. As well as Halle sang and Melissa acted nothing will EVER change that.
Halle is an actual singer so ofc she would do an amazing job
It wasn’t meant to be duplicated. The live action is much more memorable and iconic TO ME.
It's a really cute song, and maybe not needed but i am happy they added it
@@lydia4913 Honestly you’re the first person I’ve heard that enjoyed it and that makes me happy. I’m glad it could spark some joy for you!
i agree on all points.
Wait so you not going to watch it in theaters?
I've literally been waiting for this video for like three days
"You haven't even said a word to this dude!"
🤣🤣🤣
I listen to Disney music all the time. When the reprise comes on, everything must stop. And I have to wait until I can tilt my head when she does. And then feel the wave breaking. Then I can go back to whatever I was doing.
We live on Lake Tamarack, and my mom used to joke that she used to check us for gills before we went to school. Every summer where are usually in or around water somewhere. Your unapologetic love for Scuttle is amazing. I love your excitement for seeing him showup.
This girl needs to do more Disney full movie reactions.
I wonder why Vanessa is your favorite I know for sure animated Ariel and live action Vanessa share one thing in common 😂
Agree to disagree the live action soundtrack had way more misses than the original
I dont know how you could possibly say Melissas version is better. Im not saying shes bad but the attitude and effortlessness in this one is unmatched
Thank you for everything you do....💝🎼🎵🎶💓🙏❤🔥
"How many wonders can one cavern hold?"...❣
6:48 yeah... Because She Is a villain... She need to be wrong
you could react to these songs in other languages of the world like Italian German and many others, it would be beautiful
Thanks Jodi Benson never forget original song😍
You will love the new version !!! I just saw it and it was a 10/10 for me
Didn't the newer one take out Eric running Ursala through? That was one of his best moments.
I'm done with , live action remakes now. For me personally the 1989 version
SHE REACTED TO THE FULL MOVIE!
Not going to lie. I'd take her spot as a merman. She can have my life
original disney movie from 1989 is the best in my opinion i saw it on vhs i was 7 in 1991 my family member rented it at the video store in 1992 when i was 8 a neighbor gave us some of there disney movies on vhs including this one i have seen the 1989 classic 31 times
Clearly you’ve not seen the live action I’m not even going to bother to debate
@@eggcellence5546 That is a lie.
@@clairelin0216 OK, believe whatever fantasies you clearly want to believe. The rest of us are living in reality.
Eric is 18 in this film so he isnt too much older xD
Where in the film does it says that he is 18?
I'm always gonna love the original ♥The new one was alright but still not as good in my opinion :)
Great reaction! Would you ever react to Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies? The vocals in that show are amazing
Live action is my favourite version
I'd love to see you react to the Beetlejuice the Musical soundtrack, particularly Dead Mom.
i lile both but old animated films have more impact on me
I love this version of part of your world much more, it's a lot more intimate and fits the scene overall, halle' version feels more like a music video to me personally
Yes also is because Howard Ashman was involve in the animated and that makes 1000 better
@@edwintovar1505 yes! I wish more people would watch the bts with Jodi and Howard to see how hard they worked to get that result
Music Video Huh
I did not care for Halle’s version of PoYW at all. I was cringing the whole time in the theater.
@@melissabradley2418 looks like you would
Ursula are the first villian thats really singing in that time and she have no training and her song sound great
The og is brighter and the new is darker meaning the lighting
I love your videos!
I'd really like to see your reaction to Show Yourself
I far prefer the original Part of Your World. But it's a stylistic preference, not a matter of talent or song. Halle Bailey has a beautiful voice, but I didn't like the direction. It’s like she was told to do a power ballad, when in reality Part of Your World is like a private monologue. That's my preference anyway. I thought it more interesting and more suited to the plot.
I loved both of them! Both were super amazing and loved them both!
People have to stop comparing just like people have to seperate the product and the author. (Ie. Harry Potter and JK)
Loved your video!
Melissa Mccarthy nailed it as always. Halle was amazing and Diggs was perfect as Sebastian and Awquafina as Scuttle too!
I agree so much! I hate that these things went from entertainment/escapism to a fucking battle field of culture wars...
Great Classic!
Your missing the whole point 1: Ariels friends are just trying to help her Appreciate Your Friends 2: Ariel’s voice represent her internally 3:it doesn’t give a bad message to young ppl in the end Eric realizes she’s the one by her voice .. that’s why he fell in love w her in the first place he didn’t fall in love w her looks u ppl don’t even know what your talking about 4: and clearly as kids watching this we knew Ursula was bad kids these days need to be exposed to
Villains so they be careful and know what to watch out for.. the message behind the little mermaid is Ariel saved Eric from drowning and woke him up by using her voice, but when Ursula takes away her voice, Eric couldn’t fall in love with just her looks and wanted to find the girl with the voice - meanwhile she was standing right in front of him. Giving up on her voice was a mistake. She really didn’t realize how important it was until it was gone. You have a voice embrace it
Love bother versions of the movie but for me the connection between her and Eric in the remake was not there the whole romantic feeling was lost
Why won't you go watch at the theaters and support the actors from whom you're making so much content ?
I think it’s because she isn’t in the US or another English speaking country (not sure if they have a subbed version instead where she is and wouldn’t be able to see it in English…). So she has to wait until it comes to streaming. Audrey is also very scared of deep water, so watching it on a huge screen might not be the best idea…, but don’t worry streaming also plays a part in the overall success of a film. Although box office is better…
@@celinel.844 Thanks for the info.
The udio-described version didn’t mention that!
People get offended easily nowadays with classic content
@Hariolus Tarot 安里克 the song and terms remained intact without that line. It was very clear
A movie and songs being simple and boring isn’t a good thing
@@RedRoseSeptember22 halle wasnt loud until she belted near the end and in the cartoon she had her moments of loud bursts too
How was the music over dramatic just because you're tone deaf is your problem
@@christianhowze4137 Being simple doesn’t mean being boring.
I Will say it’s sad you’re technically not supporting the movie because you want to capitalize from it on your patron, especially when you got so many views because of it. You’re entitled to your choices, I just find it strange.
Yes 100% better. There was no need for a live action at all. Disney messed it up anyway as we can now see it was a flop at the box office
Eric is supposed to be 19 in the movie.
Original is way better than the new one
can you make a video about whitney avalon's new song?
How is it even a question? Of course it's better than the live action.
It’s no where near as good as the live action. If you watched the live action, you would know that.
the live action was way better and i grew up with the animated one.
@@kels154 I don't like remakes cause they have no original ideas, don't remake what's already perfect come up with your own ideas.
@@MasterOfTheElements "Woke crap" lfmao I can't with you all being such snowflakes
You should reacto to Poor Unfortunate Souls in latino. Ursula's voice is deeper
Love the original movie it perfect one favorite Disney soundtrack
It seems so out of order like in this video she didn't record yet all the last ones
Exactly this! Trying to pander too much to political correctness and ruining the legacy of the original in many ways
They didn't need to "correct" anything though.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Right??? The messed up stuff is said by the VILLAIN. The villain, who very much doesn't _want_ Ariel to succeed to boot.
nothing was corrected because nothing was wrong with the original. they simply updated for current tastes.
Sorry, I used the wrong word. I still can’t believe that they never even kissed at the end.
Girl did you even watch the new one? It’s so much better. Let’s be real.
@@DarkMoonGeneral so youre making judgments on something youve never seen?
