Messmers voice actor did just such an amazing job, his cadence is so unique and captivating. "Soon tarnished, wilt though be taken in the jaws." with that, amazing and sad delivery. Favorite line though has to be the "Mother, wouldst though truly lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light.", just, such a hard line.

I’ve loved the apparent reveal of this is how the living jars ACTUALLY come into being.
Some would argue that it is perhaps only in the land of shadow, but to me, and knowing Fromsoft, this is their way of revealing the origin of what appeared be almost a Disney set of characters actually being the products of unthinkable torture.

Fun fact: The "calf" could actually be related to Torrent, our horned spiritual steed and the spirit calculus is a remnant of said beings.

Emma, if you ever have any issues with the lock-on switching targets without you wanting it to, you can actually change the sensitivity of it under the 'keyboard and mouse' settings in the systems tab. Sensitivty is set to one by default, try increasing it to three or four and see if that does the trick. This really helped me and thoroughly improved my Elden Ring experience.

I ended up in the store room from a completely other side. No hippo action. Some drowned church area . The little red riding hoods are destroying me left and right. Loving it.

I don't think you have a Great Rune equipped, so your Rune Arcs aren't having any effect?
@gigno1485 I'm pretty sure it raises max hp a little, but it would be much better to equip a rune.
U didnt need to wear that goofy headpeice to talk to buddy 😂 also npc adavnce once u enter shadow keep and then again when u kill messmer no matter if u follow the quests or not. Im saving messmer untill i get maxed damage so im exploring everything i wanna solo him hes to epic of a boss to rush, him and melania are brother and sister
@emmalition Has anybody ever told you to equip Godrick's Great Rune and use the Rune Arc? I saw you have over 24 rune arcs! Equip it, use them, it'll permanently boost all your stats until you die.

I was getting really anxious you didn't have the summon sign in the arena. You can imagine my relief when you went to do Hornsent quest hahaha Did you notice the Melina hint on Messmer's remembrance? I would advice you exploring every corner of the map and doing every quest/boss/miniboss before burning the tree

I did! I actually re-read it at the start of the next episode and fully absorb the fact it’s alluding to Melina😅 I was so fried after this that I couldn’t take it in properly. And that definitely the plan! I’m going nowhere near any kind of intended path until I clear this map up!
I have to say I loved the Messmer fight. It is not my favourite in this Dlc, that one is a bit tricky to find, but hes up there at third place.
He’s truly amazing. The cut scenes are phenomenal.
The point is some people just want to see if youd like any of the new weapons. Not saying to just stop using the BHF forever but you know, check out one of the new weapons. They really are pretty good.
I hope you find that hidden area(you know souls games are with hidden areas) near the shadow keep that explains Marika more as a character
I like your play style and we all use whatever works for us. We want to enjoy the game and make it as easy as we can with what is comfortable.
Yo, you play right up my alley and i love that (Mimics etc.), discoverd you via YT Scrolling and subscribed instantly after i saw your messmer fight, took me a bit of time aswell and it was frustrating, can relate 100% :D.

You rock!!! Awesome video. 🤘🏻😁 And don’t ever feel bad/guilty for using summons or mimic. I use my mimic all the freakin’ time. Makes the game way more fun.
Don’t forget to go finding more of those scadutree fragments/revered spirit ashes. Those make a much larger difference than you think! There are 50 of them (the scadutree fragments, unsure about revered spirit ashes) in the DLC and the vast majority of them can be gotten at anytime
1:28:46. Love the playthrough but you have no great rune equipped (denoted by the empty square in the top-left of screen) which makes your use of a rune arc almost useless. Take Godrick's rune - which you already have - to the tower attached to Stormveil Castle if you haven't already, restore the rune, and equip it via any site of grace. Then, every time you use a rune arc, it will do MUCH more for you than slightly increase health.
Awesome job! This DLC almost demands the use of summons so don’t feel bad! Not many people have the time to die 50 times. Also may I suggest you put your lantern on your quick menu. So much easier to use.
Lovely episode :) remember to visit Ansbach and Freyja till they run out of dialogue!
your mimic will also use the "Raw Meat Dumpling" to heal himself.
I loved Shadow Keep so much! The whole vibe of this dlc is almost like a horror game. Every surprise, every elite enemy and that snake eye on the cut scene was just perfect! Enjoying you're let's play very much. Haters be damned! Btw you might want to activate your great ruin so you dont waste your rune arcs!

Some of the stuff you can craft in yhis game is really useful. Especially the dlc stuff.

I didn't have to help Hornsent fight Leda for his summons sign to appear. When I spoke to Leda she didn't give me an option to pick Hornsent or Thiollier, so in my play through she is still alive.
I'm definitely going to have to try a different weapon set and go through the Specimen Storeroom again. I had to basically run past most everything in there because the Fire Knights were near impossible for me to kill.

Love how everyone expected Messmer to be the final boss, while in the past they’ve always marketed a penultimate or midway boss like Lady Maria or Artorius.
Emma you gotta talk to the npcs whenever something significant happens in the dlc. like when the rune broke. hornsent would be available as a summon sign in the arena i believe if you spoke to him to get some progression out of it. in generally u gotta keep tabs on them. its pretty east to miss them but i think the dlc has improved on that a tad bit from the base game where it was alot more convoluted imo.

Fun episode Emma! Great job getting through what has to be my favorite area of the DLC despite how frustrating it could be at times (looking at you Fire Knights 😡)
Fun story, during one of my attempts, I had Messmer at about 1/3 health when he killed me, and as the screen came up my mimic tear and hornsent actually finished him off but it didn't count because the screen faded before the Victory message showed.🙃

U can also equip exulatd flesh that buff ur attacks power and ur mimic would use it and become OP

FYI you don’t need to wear the dancing lion helmet when you speak to the hornsent. I didn’t and got the same dialog and was able to summon him to help with Messmer.
My fav boss in the entire dlc i think (2nd place goes to midra you will see why) Great Episode, i love your gameplays :D

Is there a reason you aren't 2 handing the bloodhounds fang? If you aren't going to carry a shield you should definitely 2 hand it for more damage...This was a great episode!
The Black Knife Armor set makes you completely silent as well, It's not as tanky as what you have though.

Hi Emma, did you know you’re missing 2 sacred tears on your healing flasks. +12 is the max. I guess you missed 2 churches in the base game. It’s easy to miss some of the more hidden churches.

I literally just beat the dlc 10 minutes ago.... woof, brutally difficult but satisfying. Still have to go hunting for items I missed though.

Assassin’s Gambit is a literal game changer. It makes traversing through dungeons a lot easier
Well I always wondered how you got the shortcut to that Grace at the 20:55 mark and I feel so dumb I didn’t go down that slope but honestly I thought it was just a cliff so I didn’t even check. Now I know though. I have no idea what triggers it but Hornsent is summonable in the Messmer fight BUT his summon sign is inside the Boss room on the right hand side of the arena.
you can beat messmer at up to 18 scadu blessing which is 2 level from max
So yeah you could have found definitely way more than that

heads up, Scadu is pronounced as Shadow! It's an old English way to spelling it! So you can call them shadowtree fragments!

If you want to see more of them for some reason (like for cool loot or boss fights), without saying too much you can find more of em by the dragon on Gravesite Plains and hmm somewhere on Altus that I forget.

They add a slight amount of HP if you don't have a great rune equipped I think, but yeah for the most part they're wasted.
