Power fold and extend tow mirrors. I believe this is optional on XLT models and standard on Lariat and up models. I have that feature on my 12' Super Duty and it's a must have for me. I love being able to extend my mirrors out for towing with the push of a button.
Thanks for the info! We have the power fold and extend mirrors on our XLT. They're certainly nice. We had the manual extend and fold mirrors on our previous Lariat (2005) Super Duty. I do worry that the power version could be a future failure point. But I'm hopeful that's not the case.
If I were truck shopping, I'd definitely consider a Ford as my first choice. I've been a Ford fan since I was a kid. Prices today though really are eye popping to be quite honest. Even an F150 is $40,000 to start, a used F350 where I am is about $65,000. I've even seen some as high as $115,000 and for a truck that's amazingly high for my budget. And even if I had the money, I'm not real sure I'd ever want to spend that much for a truck. Perhaps when I win the Power Ball, I can more seriously think about it...LOL. Again, that's a beautiful truck and it definitely pays to be smart consumer. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I totally hear you. I really enjoyed not having a truck payment (or any vehicle payment) for a long time. But we use our truck a lot, so it was time for the upgrade. I'm glad I searched far and wide and found one that had MOST of what we were looking for, used, at a decent price. I can't imagine paying some of those crazy numbers on a vehicle. The other advantage is that since used values are so high, our 2005 F350 crew cab lariat diesel with 130K miles on it actually had a much higher trade in value that it would have a few years ago - so that helped some. Hopefully I'll still have this truck a long time from now and we'll feel it was a good value once we divide the price over 15-20 years. :)
The sliding rear window is a must have! I have a 22 stx super crew with the 7.3 every option minus the blis monitor system, the trailer assist knob , and the block heater I love it!
A lot of truck for the money, it’s the little things that make a big difference like the extra bed lights, step going into the bed, comfortable interior
You're absolutely right. The bed lights are one example of a thing that I thought was just frivolous - but now that we've used them so much - they're something we'd have trouble doing without!.
For me 63 the tailgate step was a must have. I just found a F350 7.3 with 6'8" box Tremor, with GVWR of 11300 lbs. For me too the 7.3 was a must have. A nice to have that I really appreciate finaly is the Powerscope mirror. I do have the center console. Coming from a F150 with the 6 places That nice to have console is now a must have for all the storage.
Right on - I agree 100%. I wouldn't have another truck without that tailgate step. And if I ever get another truck, I won't do without that center console.
What did the Tremor package do to your payload rating vs not having that package? Reason I ask is I am in the market for a 7.3 gasser with the 4.30 rear end but I don’t really need the Tremor package. Thanks.
@@scottg9208I don't think it is adding payload on any sort. I got that truck because it was the only one F350 with the 7.3 available in my area. It is a 2021
It’s nice to have a newer truck. But we still miss the 17 year old F350 every once in a while. We keep our vehicles a LONG time, so I’m sure we’ll be enjoying this one for a while. Thanks for watching!
We just bought a 2023 F350 with the Lariat Ultimate package. I have the features you were looking for. Thanks for the reassurance. It looks just like yours. We call it Clifford. I have Godzilla engine too.
For my application I am using the truck as a farm truck. I optioned for the diesel. So I didn't need most of the "tech" stuff on the truck. The things I optioned on my truck was the functional hardware. I optioned the long bed, bed liner, bed lighting, puck system, larger fuel capacity, air ride suspension, wheel liners. Other than that the base model truck had most of the stuff I wanted. Getting in and out of the truck in some pretty bad conditions and with the dog getting in and out and the hair problems I decided to forego the carpet, and the cloth/leather seats and just stuck with vinyl flooring and seats, and then put some rugged cordura seat covers over it. So far that is working out amazingly well and I like it better than I thought I would. I wanted to get the leather seats, but they require you to get carpet and other things I didn't want so I opted for the vinyl. The vinyl looks nice, looks like leather, but as soon as you touch it you know it isn't. So the seat covers make the seats breathable and protected. It is a breeze to clean up and I think it is going to wear a lot better than the upgraded interior. The downside is that I lost some of the internal storage compartments by optioning the lower end trim. So far not a big deal, but something that would have been nice to have. Agree on the upfitter switches. I did option for them, but I am scratching my head what I will be using them for. I might put a low profile light bar on the front to help with work situations in poor conditions out in a pasture or something if I ran out of daylight. Possibly find a way to setup a work light for behind the truck. But that doesn't happen on a regular basis and frankly I am usually on the ATV for situations like that so I don't know how essential those upfitter switches are. Frankly the base model trucks have the stuff that used to be optional included now. Since I won't be doing much in the way of regular road trips and dealing with a lot of traffic etc I didn't see the value in adding most of the other bells and whistles. So far the only tech that I wish it did have is a front mounted camera so I can see how close I am getting to stuff when parking the truck, but to get that front camera they required a package that included all the other stuff that I didn't want. So I passed on the front camera because of that. I wish that was a stand alone line item that could be added. I really didn't want the sensors. I have them on my car and they frankly are more annoying to me than they are worth. A good camera on the front and back would be just fine without all the other stuff. I think those side puddle lights are something that I just didn't think through and might have been worth the upgrade. I didn't look to see if they also required other packages to get those, but those do look handy. I only drive the truck when I need the truck for hauling loads, pulling trailers and equipment. Loading it up with a couple thousand lbs in the bed she doesn't even blink. My half ton was squatting and not happy at about 1200-1300lbs. So the upgrade is nice. Thanks for sharing you thoughts on your must haves. It is interesting to see what others are doing and how the truck fits their specific needs with the options they choose or wish they had.
Simply as another opinion and not meant to be argumentative.... Good vid & you brought out many good points. I purposely ordered my 21' F350 XLT, 7.4L & 3.73 gears as an Extra Cab with 6.5' bed. I tow a trailer as well and have no difficulties getting into tighter spots with the shorter length & wheel base. Slider was not necessary as I do not 'jackknife" when backing with the shorter wheelbase. I can still use it as a 'car' & park it in any standard spot. It also fits in the garage (a must). Also easier to get in & out of a gas station.Other configurations would not accommodate those items. This is my 4th one with this set up and I have never regretted it. I can count on one hand the number of times I have had anyone in the back seat the last 20 yrs. When I have, there is still plenty of room, just a bit of an inconvenience getting in & out. 48 gal tank would be nice, but the 36 gives me a chance to get out and stretch. I carry a 5g gas can for the generator and it doubles as an emergency for the truck. I agree about your conclusions on the camera's. The center console is a must for me. Had one w/o it and did not like it! Had leather in my 04'; the last 2 have not. Cooler in the Summer, warmer in the winter. I just plug in my phone for the navigation. Ford's is too expensive and would default to my phone anyway. I debated over the Camper Pkg; but was afraid it may ride too rough (?). Appears you have the Chrome Pkg or the XLT Premium Pkg? I ordered mine with the XLT Value Pkg. (less chrome.)The trailer light hookup inside the bed was part of the camper pkg in 21'; not a standard item. The few F350's on the lots at the time were all loaded up and in the $75k - $95k range. I bought mine for way, way less & discount off the sticker. People called me crazy & said to wait. IMHO it was only going to get worse. Dealers are still calling me to sell it to them at what I paid for it. A new one is ~$12-$15k more now. Afraid to look at a 23' !
Thanks, Herb! Another great comment. With our Great Dane (who loves taking rides in the truck) and our teen daughter and friends, we utilize the crew cab quite a bit. I'm afraid the extra cab would be less convenient for us at this stage in our family. But in a couple years - we probably could do with the shorter truck. Our previous truck was the 6 3/4 bed with the crew cab. I certainly is a noticeable difference when finding a parking spot, parking in the garage, or navigating around a gas station etc. We do have the Chrome package. It wasn't something we were looking for or even wanted - but this track had it. I do like the wheels though that came with the chrome package.
@Herb With you all the way, absolutely love super cabs look and function. But after only having a choice of 4 doors when I needed a truck there is no way on earth I would ever go back to a supercab if it meant giving up my 48 gallon fuel tank. I know for about 4 grand you can get a 50 gallon installed, but that would be all out of pocket after buying the truck.
@@OmahaWayne I guess that’s why they offer them both. I personally value the other attributes I listed above much higher than the extra gas capacity. 36 gal will take me over 300 miles when towing and we need a break after 5 hours. I just looked into a an extra tank that fits inside the box up against the cab. I believe it comes in different sizes but a nice thin one was 25gal. It was under$1k. I decided not to buy it though at this time. Only one time have I used my 5g can and that was to get over the California border into Arizona to save $1 a gal… but like I said we have options and I know I’m in the minority.
Love the review I ordered a F250 7.3 godzilla & I had a 7.3 diesel 17yrs went to a cab/chassis 6.7 120" Wheelbase derated LOL it craped a cp4 pump right at 100,000 miles So I'm done with powerstroke diesels,I also pull a 26ft toyhauler fully loaded 13,800 here in AZ Very hard to find truck's dig your must haves night have to go back to ford and put some of those in 👍keep up good videos
Glad you liked the video! We are so happy with our new 7.3 Godzilla. It’s a relief not only knowing that we won’t have those PowerStroke issues any more, but also knowing that if anything does go wrong - it will likely be less expensive and easier to repair.
Thanks for doing these videos! I'm looking at this truck... I have no reason for a diesel, but need a larger truck. Plus...hate the DEF crap. Much appreciated!! Keep them coming
Glad you are enjoying our videos! We appreciate you letting us know. We still love our truck. Even after the oil analysis results (today’s video): ruclips.net/video/0Vnw725ZYAo/видео.html
I swear we are twins, well except I am MUCH older. Went from a 2003 7.3 to a 2021 7.3 that I just got. We have almost IDENTICAL must haves, want to have and narrowed down our choice the same way to pull my 12000 pound camper. I also ended up with a nearly identical truck. 2021 XLT with bench seat (wanted console) long box crew cab. I also ended up with the chrome package that I despise. I did get remote start but you can add that in about 15 minutes to that truck with ford parts. Just a box that hooks into the back of the obdii port. You use the same remote and just hit lock/unlock/lock to start. Just contact fairway ford parts (in ohio) tell them you want to add remote start and they will give you a list of whats needed. You gained a sub, thanks for the great channel.
I ordered a new 2022 f250 lariat 6.2 with 8ft bed & puck system . 9 months to get but you get what you want & do not have to pay for things you do not want . I got the super cab because it’s a beast to park with 8ft bed & crew cab but maybe I should have got crew cab to for the 45 gal tank . My fifth wheel is 30ft 10,000 lbs so for me the motor & 250 works . Nice video great trucks
Thanks for watching! We actually thought about ordering new and getting exactly what we wanted configured. But the dealerships I talked with were less than helpful. And several were going to charge us over the sticker price.
@@PurpleCollarLife yes most of the dealers are just ripping people off , I’m lucky I’m in a rural part of NY & have ordered all 4 of my f series trucks from him over 30 years he charged us list price . It did take 9 months & the list price went up $3000 but he keep it at the price we ordered it . I’ll click your bell
Nice option with the car keys. I'm always going swimming and forget I have my keys in my pocket. The water kills the electronics and you have to split the case in half and dry it out. Only takes a few minutes but a hassle.
Any time we take the boat out - I lock my keys in the truck. It does avoid the potential for forgetting and jumping in the water with keys (which I've done before) - or leaving the keys in the glove box of the boat and walking to the top of the ramp and THEN remembering they're in the boat.
We never could have bought one with the Platinum package because of the price. In my research, I found that buying an STX or XLT package and then adding the options we needed was a much more cost effective method. The base price of the Platinum (and even the Lariat) is significantly higher than the base price of the XLT. I think people are discovering that it's better to get a lower trim level and add options than to buy the more expensive trim. PLUS - we didn't want that huge sun roof. We're not a fan of those. Thanks for watching!
@@PurpleCollarLife agreed, which is why I ordered a fully loaded Lariat in December. It was built last week, hoping to take delivery this week. You can get a fully loaded Lariat which is nearly identical to the Platinum, minus the multi-countered seats (which are no longer made and have been deleted from Platinum orders), and power deployable running boards (which suck!), for !4K less.
If you really want leather seats, you probably can go find them in a wrecking yard, or online somewhere, the seat covers usually unzip or are velcro'd onto the seats. So essentially you can swap the covers themselves to whatever you want, be it cloth, vinyl, or leather.
Audible alert should be added on top of flashing alert for the line departure. One option I wish Ford would add is the blind spot audio alert to let you know if other car is in your lane of signal directions.
It's very easy to add factory remote start to most of these ford trucks. There are many RUclips videos showing how to do it. If you really want it, it costs about 150 bucks and it's simple to do. You basically just install the factory parts, get the correct key fob, and activate with FORScan.
Thanks! I've been thinking about that. Obviously it has the capability since it can do it over the app - I'll definitely look into adding what it takes. I've read other people talk about FORScan to update low tire pressure warnings, etc. Is it easy to use? Is it expensive? Is it it's own device that connects to the OBDII port?
@@PurpleCollarLife Nice truck! Have you tried clicking the lock button a few times? My '15 F250 XLT would remote start with 2 clicks on the lock button on the FOB.
@Purple Collar Life My '22 F350 allows me to remote start after 1 click on the Lock button, followed by double clicking on the remote start icon (2x icon)
@@PurpleCollarLife Forscan is great, takes a bit of learning where to go to do stuff but lots of how to videos out there. Forscan is free for a laptop, not sure what it costs to get the phone app, but the computer version is free. It does cost $12 a year or did when I got my membership last year, if you need access to the security/safety portion of the vehicle's computer system, so to program keys, reprogram instrument clusters, program computers, etc. you'll need the membership version...but very cheap compared to a dealer, and sometimes a dealer will not do certain things either where Forscan will allow you to do whatever the dealer can do.
Great choice! Where did you place the air compressor? I'm always worried that our Pennsylvania winter salt will destroy it if I put it under the truck.
I have air bags on my Nissan, I mounted the air compressor under the dash below the steering wheel. Outside with salt and dirt and moisture would kill it within a year
The problem with those LED rear tail lights with the blind spot monitoring radar is you can't replace just a tail light bulb if it stops working, you have to replace the whole assembly which costs $1300, kind of silly...
While I do wish I had the LED headlights - I'm glad that my tail lights are the regular bulbs and not LEDs. That's one of the reasons why. Great point and thanks for sharing!
The New Ford has almost the same output HP & Torque as the 2000 year-model Power Stroke diesels of the time. If you need heavy towing capacity without the monster torque of a diesel definitely go with the Ford, it's a much more Eco-Friendly option, not to mention the price of fuel vs regular gas. A 5 year total cost of ownership between Diesel and Gas (Either Brand), is about 15K lower for both of the gas engines, that includes the initial engine markup price with added taxes, the cost of fuel for 5 years, maintenance, and the cost of insurance. It costs much more to insure a Diesel than a gas engine. We know because we own both. The 4:30 Rear on the gas Ford will make-up for about 50% of the lost torque compared to a Diesel with a 3:73 Rear. So now you are getting close to 675-700 torque equivalent on the gas engine. That's a very respectable towing capability for up to 13k lbs of towing. Combined with the weight of the truck, now you are getting closer to the magic total GVRW of 20K. Again these are impressive output numbers for s gasoline engine. I have friends in the landscaping and construction business that tow with the 3500 6.4 Ram, 8 speed & 4:30 Rear, and they have no complaints. If you pull a 12k lbs RV, a Ram 2500 with a 4:10 Rear will do the trick with the added benefit of a silky smooth ride due to the rear axle coil suspension. The 2500 RAM with rear coil springs rides like a Cadillac when is empty. And if you want more load capacity for the rear coils, just add a pair of Firestone air-bag springs to the rear axle of the ram. Cheers & happy towing to all fellow truck enthusiasts.
Identical "Ruby Red" to my 2017. Bought it used at a great price and LOVE it. I even enjoy the color...but it's not 'my' color.🤣😂 So I have this ridiculous truck I never thought I'd own with a ton of features likes yours on top of the Lariat package and I just can't fully enjoy it because it's not my color. How dumb is that? 🤣😂 Maybe I'm just tired of keeping the chrome clean. lol
Hello - thanks for watching! We weren’t looking for Red either - but now that I have it I don’t mind it. I do notice how many others there are the same color. Before we had the truck, I wouldn’t have guessed there were that many with similar configuration (red, crew cab, clearance lights, etc.) - but now I see them all the time! :)
The only difference the camper package makes on the F350 is the addition of the rear sway bar. On a 3/4 ton it adds over load springs and increases the size of the front springs. Shocks are no different.
One of the reasons I got rid of my 2019 f250 gasser was because it had the camper package/snow plow package. It rode like a dump truck. Lol. My new F250 rides so much better and it is very noticeable. I tow often but not crazy heavy. I didn’t need it.
Fantastic information and I hope you don’t mind if I start my lists with yours lists. Thanks for all your hard work. I’m getting there but I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I put them on mine myself they look great and never doing it before it took me about 5 hours for the back seats, and about 7 hours for the front seats. It cost me like 600 for the seat covers, and my time.
My first vehicle with the keypad on the outside was a 92 Taurus SHO. Every Ford I've had since then I've had it as well, and if it didn't you can buy one that acts like a keyfob but uses the same 5 pushbuttons that sticks to the vehicle (had an 03 Mustang Cobra I did that with).
Its funny seeing what is in a new truck even an XL compared to what was in my luxury 1999 Lariat F250. Some stuff in the new trucks is nice, but there's a lot of crap in them that I wish they'd just make an option rather than standard...the touch screen stuff is one thing I'd rather they leave out. People don't realize how much that will cost to replace when it fails, and yes it will fail. the Odometer display in my car quit working, the only way I can see what the mileage is on the car is with the Forscan software on my laptop plugging into the OBD2 port, it would cost several hundred dollars to have that cluster replaced, on top of the hours of labor involved in tearing the dash apart, not worth it in an almost 20 year old car. I will probably swap out the factory stereo in my F250 because it keeps trying to switch to CD mode randomly.
Thanks for watching! You're right about things going wrong with more complexity. That's why my daily driver is the little Ford Ranger with crank up windows. :) ruclips.net/video/GjHAKaOQP6k/видео.html
@@PurpleCollarLife I'm still driving an 87 Ford Ranger with manual transmission, and manual locks and windows as well. It only has 124k on it, the old man that owned it was a jeweler, he only drove it a few miles a day back and forth to his shop.
The sliding back window I have always found on my Ford Trucks us a must. I call it the fart sucker. All kidding aside. When it's open and front windows are open the air flow through nicely. It doesn't beat the back of your head. And yes it sucks facts up and out of the backseat.
Great point! I hadn't even thought about the rear window. I will say that the sliding rear window in our Lariat F350 became problematic over time. It would move VERY slowly and sometimes stop mid-operation. It would always end up opening or closing like we wanted eventually. But I think there was probably something we should have been doing with it over the 17 years we owned the truck. Probably some type of track cleaning or something. I do miss having that rear window for the ventilation front to back like you mention, and also for the ability to have additional visibility/communication when backing up to a trailer. Though - with the new camera it's so much easier!
I ordered a 22 F350 short bed crew cab with the console. It wasn't looking good for it to be built before tow season so I found and bought a brand new 22 F350 long box with the front bench seat. My short box ended up being built in time so we traded the long bed for the short bed. I miss the 48 gallon tank but having the console, up fitter switches and the bed lights that the long box truck didn't have made it worth me having to stop for fuel a little more often. If the long bed truck would have had the console, I would have kept the that truck. The long box truck also had the factory spray in bed liner. The short box did not. I like my Linex liner way better than the factory ford spray in.
Thanks for sharing! I wasn't sure about the factory spray in bed liner, but it's pretty good. I've never had Linex - just Full Metal Jacket spray in liner on two previous Super Duty trucks. As we enter winter, we wish more and more that we had the center console.
@@PurpleCollarLife you can buy all the parts and add the console. I thought about doing it myself if I had kept my long box truck. In the end I wanted to do the Linex liner, and get my up fitter switches for the light bar I wanted to add, so I just traded trucks and got what I wanted which is why I ordered in the first place. It is a little pricy to do the console but it looked relatively easy to do.
I didn't even know for sure that it could be done after the order. It's great to know it's possible. One dealership actually told me that if it wasn't ordered with it, there was no way to add it.
Here’s some tips. Ford CPO vehicles can be warranted for 11 years and 140,000 miles. Go on line to Anderson Koch Ford and warranty the bejesus on that thing. My 2017 Flex limited is warranted to 2028. Never buy any car or truck until you have downloaded the brochure and the ordering guide from the web. Why? Because the dealers don’t have a clue what they are selling. Their online summaries are pathetically generic and their sales people barely know a truck from a car. The ordering guide will give you what you need about options and packages. Get a window sticker. Ford dealers can reprint any sticker from a Ford vehicle. Customers can get stickers from third parties on line. The sticker will tell you MSRP which is important these days
Thanks, Earl. You’re right on with downloading the brochure, window sticker, and ordering guide. That is all really valuable information and it is important to educate yourself when looking at a vehicle. I didn’t realize that it’s possible to add even more to the warranty beyond the Ford Blue Oval Certified coverage. That’s great to know! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
You can easily leave Navigation in the truck on when you plug in your phone. It's a phone setting for default use in SYNC. Android Auto also has a setting that doesn't make it the default. That being said, do NOT trust Ford Navigation when towing. It tried way too often to take us down forestry roads and "aviary trails" while towing.
This is great info - thanks for sharing! I'll need to get into the Sync system and change those settings. And we never trust the navigation when towing - we have a separate Garmin that is designed for trucks. You enter in your total weight, total length, and overall height - and it takes those into consideration when navigating. I've always been scared to come across an underpass too short for our 5th wheel. The truck Garmin eases those fears.
@@PurpleCollarLife Your very welcome! I actually just got my F350 delivery date today after waiting 8 months. Your "must haves" where almost identical to mine. I also buy wit Xplan pricing, so ordering was the better cost option for the features I wanted. Sadly, the puck system was my hold up, and I had to leave it off. I did however get the console seating with heat, extended running boards, bug deflector, wheel well liners, CHMSL, BLIS, tailgate step, bumper step, 7.3L with 430 gears, and.. rapid red..lol I ordered it in January..or we'd be twins!

@@PurpleCollarLife wayyyy too long of a wait, not to mention a dealership that tried to get me out of using Xplan or the Program Price Guarantee. Took a bit to get them sorted. But it also gave us time to RV shop, as well as watch the markets for new fifth wheel floorplans. I think we're down to 2.. Cougar 355FB or Rockwood Signature with the rear den. We'll start getting serious on that in February or March. We are 2 years and counting til our full time adventure starts!
@@krisbeaver2901 We've been sort of 5th wheel shopping for a replacement to our current one for a couple years. The problem is, we can't find a layout we like better than our current one! We have a huge bedroom area - without a wall at the foot of the bed. Our bedroom includes the shower/sink area, so there is a nice large area at the foot of the bed. Perfect for a dog bed for our large Great Dane. All the newer layouts have such small bedroom space - basically just enough room to walk around the bed. We require that extra open floor space in the bedroom for Olive. Definitely keep looking until you find the right one. Especially if you're going to be full-time RVers (we're super jealous by the way)!
Thanks! We do have the power fold mirrors. I don't mind them. I do worry that it is a future potential failure point. I would have been fine with manual folding mirrors like our old truck had. I've done a few videos about the MPGs. It's not much worse than we got previously with our F350 diesel.
If the center console becomes enough of an issue I've located some videos on people buying the console and DIY'ing the conversion from the flip up seat to the console. It looks like it'd be roughly $1,000-$1,500 to do by the time you buy the console and trim panels, but figured I'd share in the event you want to dig into it as a potential project. I located an '18 Powerstroke (currently in a '19 F-150 with the console) that had the flip-up seat and was considering buying it and doing the conversion, but decided not to get it.

Great question - my primary issue is that they take up so much bed space. When we're traveling, I need some bed space for other items. In a short bed, with the generator in front of the hitch, the hitch, and the sliding function - the bed fills up fast.
What is the weight of your 5th wheel as you currently have it loaded, and it's GVWR? I have the short bed version of your truck, and curious how it handles the weight from a stop with the 3.73's. Thanks!
Our trailer is around 12,000 lbs. We have had no problems with accelerating from a stop. In fact, it's probably a little better than our old 6.0, because there is no turbo lag. Here's a video we did about towing the camper: ruclips.net/video/3jXQgde95BE/видео.html
First of all - ZERO regrets. The new truck handles beautifully, tows the trailer easily, and we love the lower fuel costs and lower maintenance costs. Here's a video about why we made the switch: ruclips.net/video/b4oJeIHEgT0/видео.html.
@@PurpleCollarLife I just ordered 2023 xlt 7.3 sport appearance premium package. All my diesel friends keep busting on me for 7.3. But I'm with u. All I need, less costs
3.73 electronic locking. We had the same axle ratio in our old 2005 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. It's a nice ratio for our use - towing, highway towing, and highway travel empty.
She's always respectful. It may seem like she's talking over me - but it's just that she can't read my mind when we're shooting a video and know when I'll be done talking. She never means for it to seem disrespectful.
Hi George. Actually, they are still making the 7.3 Godzilla. For 2023, Ford introduced a new 6.8 liter V8 engine to replace the old 6.2. According to what I can find online, the new 6.8 has 405 hp and 445 ft/lb of torque. The old 6.2 has 385hp and 430 ft/lb of torque. My 7.3 has 430 hp and 475 foot pounds of torque. They say the new 2023 version of the 7.3 Godzilla has 430 HP and 485 ft/lbs. But sources online vary on those numbers. I think they will continue to make the 7.3 for a while. It's a great engine.
I would have agreed with you 20 years ago. But our experience with our last Diesel engine left a horrible taste. It was non-stop problems and always leaving us stranded when we really needed it. We made a video about it - Why we sold our diesel super duty F350.
Adaptive cruise is a must.
I've never had a vehicle with the adaptive cruise option. Maybe next time.
We added leather seat covers in our 2022 F250, great fit.
Very nice!
Sounds like you have a great truck! Congrats.
They make real nice leather seat covers I bought them for both of my trucks one being 2022 f250 XLT
Thanks!
It is a 2021
Love the Ford 7.3 Godzilla.
You are a lucky couple to be enjoying such a ride.
Maybe some day for me, but enjoy every minute of driving a Ford.
Great name for your big red truck! :)
Thanks for leaving the detailed comment! This is really informative.
Love the review I ordered a F250 7.3 godzilla & I had a 7.3 diesel 17yrs went to a cab/chassis 6.7 120" Wheelbase derated LOL it craped a cp4 pump right at 100,000 miles

Thanks for watching and subscribing! And I appreciate the info about the remote start kit from Fairway Ford.
Hell you guys should have just bought a crew cab dually platinum package..... ! And been done with it. Have everything !
Love my Godzilla. Have 60k plus miles on the 2020. Bought May 31st 2020.
That's awesome that you have so much seat time in it!
If you really want leather seats, you probably can go find them in a wrecking yard, or online somewhere, the seat covers usually unzip or are velcro'd onto the seats. So essentially you can swap the covers themselves to whatever you want, be it cloth, vinyl, or leather.
Thanks!
Audible alert should be added on top of flashing alert for the line departure. One option I wish Ford would add is the blind spot audio alert to let you know if other car is in your lane of signal directions.
You're right - that would be another nice audible alert. Thanks for watching!
I added an air compressor to our truck and the upfitter switches work great for that. Great truck and great vid!
Great choice! Where did you place the air compressor? I'm always worried that our Pennsylvania winter salt will destroy it if I put it under the truck.
I have air bags on my Nissan, I mounted the air compressor under the dash below the steering wheel. Outside with salt and dirt and moisture would kill it within a year
Almost bought the F250. My TRAVEL TRAILER is 7500 gvw. Got the 2021 XLT powerboost used with 7000 miles on it. Will tow 11000. More than enough
Great to hear you found the right truck for you!
Thanks for sharing your insight! Lots of valuable information in this comment.
The bed 5th wheel connection is included only with the 5th wheel prep package.
Thanks! I wasn't sure. It's certainly a nice idea
Still can't believe Ford charges for plastic wheel well inserts. My '12 Ram 2500 has them and it sure helps keeping things clean.
It does make a difference having the inserts. Thanks for watching!
The only difference the camper package makes on the F350 is the addition of the rear sway bar. On a 3/4 ton it adds over load springs and increases the size of the front springs. Shocks are no different.
Thanks for sharing this info!
Please do! Glad our research can help.
#1 Hydra Boost brakes.
What are hydra boost brakes?
You can have leather seat covers added from katzkin. They look like factory covers.
I'll have to check into these. Thanks for the info!
Yeah, I put them on mine myself they look great and never doing it before it took me about 5 hours for the back seats, and about 7 hours for the front seats. It cost me like 600 for the seat covers, and my time.
We purchased Clazzio and they look stock
My first vehicle with the keypad on the outside was a 92 Taurus SHO. Every Ford I've had since then I've had it as well, and if it didn't you can buy one that acts like a keyfob but uses the same 5 pushbuttons that sticks to the vehicle (had an 03 Mustang Cobra I did that with).
I didn't know you could add them if your Ford didn't come with the key pad. Great to know! Thank you for watching and leaving the comment!
Great info
Thank you!
You guys are awesome
Thanks!
My dealer actuallly put the puck system in my truck the first one they ever put in.

I did however get the console seating with heat, extended running boards, bug deflector, wheel well liners, CHMSL, BLIS, tailgate step, bumper step, 7.3L with 430 gears, and.. rapid red..lol
I ordered it in January..or we'd be twins!
@@krisbeaver2901 We originally weren’t looking for a red one - I was hoping to find silver or white. But now that we’ve had it for a few months - we really love the red!
Congrats on your new truck! I bet 8 months was a LONG wait!
Awesome review! Do you have power fold mirrors? What is your loaded versus unloaded mpgs? Great job. Subscribed
Thanks! We do have the power fold mirrors. I don't mind them. I do worry that it is a future potential failure point. I would have been fine with manual folding mirrors like our old truck had.
I've done a few videos about the MPGs. Here's one where I'm towing 12,000 lbs: ruclips.net/video/3jXQgde95BE/видео.html
And here's one where I compare using the Eco mode and the Normal driving mode: ruclips.net/video/iWJZFwUBtUs/видео.html
I will say that for the truck this size, with the power we have, we're happy with the fuel economy when towing and when unloaded.
Thanks, Jason - this is great info! We'll certainly consider that. It would be nice to have the console at some point.
Saw you had a cover on the flip down console. Is this thru the same company as rear seat cover?
Hello. I ordered the center console cover from Amazon. It's a different manufacturer than the rear seat hammock. Here's the link for that console cover. amzn.to/3hAQ2qA
Awesome. Thank you
I like that color 👍
What mpg are you getting towing and not towing?
I wasn't originally looking for any shade of red. I wanted either silver or white, or maybe grey. But then we found this one and it really impressed us. We have some videos about MPG towing and empty.

Thanks for watching!
Yeah, the color cost $495💀
What do you have against slider hitches?
Here's a video we did about towing the camper: ruclips.net/video/3jXQgde95BE/видео.html
what axle ratio did you get? I know the f250 has the 3.55 and 4.30
We were able to get the 3.73 in our F350. It seems like a nice setup. Plenty of low end power, but still not high RPMs at interstate speeds.
Why the switch from diesel to 7.3 gas? I just ordered 7.3. Any regrets?
First of all - ZERO regrets. The new truck handles beautifully, tows the trailer easily, and we love the lower fuel costs and lower maintenance costs. Here's a video about why we made the switch: ruclips.net/video/b4oJeIHEgT0/видео.html.
@@PurpleCollarLife I just ordered 2023 xlt 7.3 sport appearance premium package. All my diesel friends keep busting on me for 7.3. But I'm with u. All I need, less costs
What is your payload capacity?
Combined weight of cargo and occupants should not exceed: 1805 kg or 3981 lbs according to the sticker on the door jam. Thanks for watching!
What rear gear ratio did you get?
3.73 - we're really happy with that choice. Perfect for highway travel and towing our 12K lbs.
What gear ratio do you have?
3.73 electronic locking. We had the same axle ratio in our old 2005 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. It's a nice ratio for our use - towing, highway towing, and highway travel empty.
Wife needs to stop talking over you..respect
She's always respectful. It may seem like she's talking over me - but it's just that she can't read my mind when we're shooting a video and know when I'll be done talking. She never means for it to seem disrespectful.
LOL they already stop making the 7.3
@@PurpleCollarLife I was told by Ford that the 7.3 will be discontinued in 2023 .
For 2023 F350 XL model discontinued 7.3--- only XLT has 7.3
It actually comes standard on the 2023 on the super duty.
Wife interrupt much? 😜
She was just adding to the discussion. When you're making an unscripted video - it's hard to know who talks when. :)
You lost me at gas engine. 👎
I would have agreed with you 20 years ago. But our experience with our last Diesel engine left a horrible taste. It was non-stop problems and always leaving us stranded when we really needed it. We made a video about it - Why we sold our diesel super duty F350.
@@PurpleCollarLife really? That's terrible. What diesel engine was it?
