Great upload! Thanks for sharing the clip! I've always been fascinated by Jim's guitar technique. Very interesting to hear that he only uses down-strokes. To listen to his solos, you'd think it was impossible. Without a doubt, one of the most natural sounding jazz musicians ever. Jim's solos always seem to tell a story - I never think "oh, he's using this approach" or naming any technique, found in so many jazz tutor books. He simply plays beautiful melodic solos, no matter what the context...
It's great to get a bit of an insight into Jim Mullen..Would have been nice to hear a little about his time with Dick Morrissey as Morrissey/Mullen...Maybe he'll get to Perth one day, if so I'd love to interview him. Thanx for the upload.
My friend Phil!

Jim Mullen and Neil Hubbard in Kokomo got close to that Cornell Dupree feel. That was a stunningly good band in its original form.
