You're right. They weren't expecting it. When they didn't react at first, I started getting nervous - but that just meant that the prank was working, they really thought something was wrong with the projector (you can tell because they applaud when I say "okay, it's finally working.") But eventually, they saw that it was all part of the prank.
OF COURSE THEY WOULD, the first half was just the setup with a realistic problem that didn't show any clear humor, I mean you wouldn't laugh at someone if you really think they have trouble with a presentation that would be just rude, they laughed when it went absurd and it was clear that it wasn't serious and it was all a joke

Well, the organizers of the conference knew what I was going to do, so there weren't any problems with security. But they did keep it a secret from everyone else.
