Tip from maker to maker: Starting the grind of a knife with a fresh belt nocks off the tips of the abrasive, shortening it's life greatly. Try starting it with a used belt, and then switch to a fresh one to remove the bulk. Absolutely outstanding work BTW 👌
It was very stylish and useful. The pattern you gave to the steel blended perfectly with the tree in its hilt. Great craftsmanship. Health to your hands and your labor.👍👏🙌
Just wanted to say thanks. Made a few successful projects some years back and want to get back in to it. I have a huge marble saw blade from work. been sitting behind the bench for about three years. I noticed the surface rust .. very little. everything else in that shop is covered with rust in a week end. Nice thickness and plenty of material to pull off a 7" blade, possibly two. Figured that was good enough material to get started. thanks for the video
Great looking knife. I’m going to try to make one just like it this evening. I’m sure it will not be looking as good as yours but it’s a first try at something I’ve never done before. Thanks for the video.
Bravoo. Video za deset kao i uvijek. Noz za zivot, kao i uvijek. Drska od drveta, bez rijeci sam. Izuzetno mi se svidja. Noz dobija novi ton i spoj sa prirodom. Bravo maestreooo
@@joejones9520 It’s the heating element that I still need. I’ve been cold-forging carbon steel blades out of scraps, but I can’t heat treat them yet. So far the blades have turned out pretty good, but I know they’re only strong enough for food cutting.
@@ironfae they sell lots of propane forges on ebay, that's where i bought mine. They have ones under 100, mine was about 200. Also I think if you built a good size fire outside and let it get coals at bottom, you could get the metal hot enough to harden.
@@joejones9520 You’re right of course. I’m just not sure how many mistakes or accidents I can afford without training. I’m working on upgrading my skills. Just need to learn more before I turn up the heat.
@@ironfae which reminds me; get heat resistant gloves, theyre available on ebay too, I used to get the cloth kind but have learned the blue suede ones work best. And I bought a leather apron that covers chest and whole front body on ebay, wasnt much, 30-40 bucks.
Absolutely beautiful. I asked a question on another video about your quench. This time you used tje oven. The colors of the heat are completely different last video looked almost welding temp this one looked like pale orange like if blacksmithing you would stop hammering and go back in to the forge im just curious as the difference between the 2. Also all the extra tange holes i understand concept extra expoxy grabbing. Do you feel those extra holes weaken tje tange?. Thank you. Please know i mean no disrespect im trying to learn. You are a excellent blacksmith
This makes me scoff less when I see knives for $400+ now understanding the amount of work that goes into it, awesome stuff. Great video

Very nice. If only I had all those power tools and machines, I’d be making little knives daily.
a hand drill and angle grinder are the only tools you need plus something that gets hot enough to turn the blade red hot to quench.
