Nice work , I would add a brass or silver liner to the lanyard hole and maybe a red liner under the scales .

Wonderful craftsmanship. The lines are so clean and crisp. Doesn't that sharp fingerguard give you hotspots on your indexfinger? I like very much that you do the grinding freehand, and it still looks perfect.

How much easier it was to grind after annealing the steel, compared to direct grinding?
I see most people directly cutting and grinding it.

Without normalizing of the file steel (I didn't see that on the video) you'll most likely get very brittle edge and it will chip on the first contact with harder material. Nice work but you should improve your heat treatment.

I think that was the implication that he had it in a roaring fire and let it cool down with the ashes very slow as the fire burned down.

Lucky I don’t think there’s many materials found in the woods harder than a file
