    I’ve wanted to make a knife for a very long time but hit a roadblock on heat treat. I have access to a kiln and going to try with 1095. Trying to find a steel with simple heat treat. You have very nice craftsmanship.

    why do you use an angle grinder to cut blade profile instead of the portable band saw

      This steel work hardens quickly and dulls sawblades

    What Countersink do you use? I have seen a lot of countersinks that chatter on metal and the one you use seems to work well.

    In this case was there a reason why you heat treated and tempered before doing the initial grinds? From other videos it seems like normally heat treat comes after?

    When you put the pins in, is there a special drill bit or rod that you buy that is precise? I found that a 1/4 bit and maybe 1/4 brass rod is nowhere near exact.

    You should try a hollow grind on your scale bevels. That would be similar to the target stocks that came on Smith & Wesson or Colt Revolvers. I think it could look amazing.

    This is the first channel I’ve seen freeze the knife. What does that do for the metal? It’s very interesting.

      its called cryo treatment. It gives a few extra hrc (the steel gets a little harder).
      This is is due to the change from remainig Austenit to martensit in the steel.
