- LEGO Star Wars rereleased a set nobody was asking for: Yoda's Jedi Starfighter is back but is the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Summer set an improvement on 2017? Have LEGO's price increases and quality decreased hit 75360 hard or is it a good upgrade from 75168?

The newer pieces allowing for a more rounded, sleeker design really gives the new model the edge in my opinion. If it was essentially a rerelease with a new cockpit print, it would be an absolute no from me, but the better shaping really makes me want to pick it up.

For real, I have the 2017 and when I saw his review of the new set I thought he was doing a throwback to the old set. I see hardly anything different on these two sets.

I honestly don't see enough of a reason for me to get the new one. The things it improves are only ever so slightly better and you really only notice them if you have both side by side.
As someone who buys sets for display, this just isn't worth my money.
I Will always prefer the old one, just because it was my first Star Wars Lego set 🥲 I got the snowspeedrr micro fighter that day as well. Nostalgia hits

Nobody else notice the pretty different dome printing on R2? Never really seen anyone point it out before
I am not gonna lie, I hadn't notice that before but the cockpit seems to be sticking out a bit too much above the wings on the new one... This might be what it's supposed to be like but I prefer the older one just because of that. Idk it just looks a bit awkward to me.
i think the position of the starfighters body on the old one looks better to me, it looks lower in the the whole apperance than the new one, witch looks more like sitting on top of the fighter than between the wings. At least from what i've seen so far.

Other than the new windshield piece, and the back printing for R2-D2, I actually prefer almost everything about the 2017 one, but it's all subjective...😊

The 2017 set was the set that got me back into Lego as my parents bought it as a birthday gift for me in 2020 due to the lockdown. Never looked away from Lego since
I think the older one looks way nicer. I think it’s because of the size, so the proportions look nicer in general
I love the girth of the original one. I will probably get that window piece though as a replacement because it looks pretty nice.

As for the 2017 model I have it and may be biased when i say that by sorting through my small parts collection I can add some extra studs for R2 and the clip on the back for the saber without having to go and by a whole new set first while yes it is good from a play stand point the 2017 model feels great in hand and when built and I would rather have it over the 2023 model
When it comes to builds, the Star Wars team almost always knocks it out of the park now. The problem is definitely the minifig selection, quantity, and quality. I feel if they nailed those three things these new sets would almost universally be seen as the best in Lego Star Wars history.
All they needed to do was add Darth Bane and it's a home run. I like both, but no reason for me to even get this new one since I have the 2017. R2 sits better too which is the one accurate thing about it vs the new one. The 2017 also looks really good with Anakin's and Obi-Wan's Interceptors flanking it.
Ryan, why not just clip the lightsaber by the blade instead of the handle. That way it will be centralized and maybe improve display ability
I remember the rumors of the first yodas star fighter coming out. Now we already have a remake and I feel old
I had the old one as a kid and loved it , it disappeared into a bin and haven’t found it since , so I’m glad to have it again plus I got for like 20 something bucks

The only thing I like more in the 2017 version is that the cockpit has a dip so it looks like Master Yoda is sitting down since he can't bend his legs. 🪑

I would switch the black sloped stickerd pieces on the back so that the 2023 set has them
Wondering how many people have this set as of 7/24? Just left Walmart with one, there were 2 pallets full of Legos shrink wrapped in the main aisle. I looked through and found a case of these at the very top, so I opened it, walked to self check out and had no problems purchasing it. After knowing I could ring them up without street date issues, (I was holding Yoda’s starfighter and my receipt) I walked back and started looking for the Yavin 4 set. There, a team lead or something saw me and panicked, called for a manager, and told to put the set back. I showed them my receipt, they reluctantly said ok, and I walked away. What are they gonna do? Sue me for shopping there and buying something that was literally in the middle of an aisle?!😂

Built both of these because my little brother has an obsession with Yoda, and I really have to agree with you on all the points you made. Specifically, you really nail it on the value. The 2023 set really lacks the inclusion of a third minifigure, ANY minifigure. As far as I know, the episodes where Yoda’s starfighter are most prevalent in have such a desirable roster of Star Wars characters that would have made this set go from not being warranted, to maybe even being one of the best for its price-range. (Think Thrawn and Phantom, or Rex and speeder).
I think the spring shooters are a safety hazard. Already have several Yoda and R2 Figs.
For the money the kit needed a darth bane figure or one of the emotion characters from the clone wars show that sent yoda on his mission
I have like 7 sets of 75168 do you think I should sell it at same price as new one or maybe just a bit higher ?

I wish this set came with a hyperdrive ring to really set it apart from the 2017 set. I would gladly have paid $40 or even $50 for that
I think $30 would have been a fair price in today's market, but I will be picking this up eventually only because I wasn't back in on LEGO 6 yrs ago so I missed out on this one initially.
2017>2023 I have the old version and it still looks better even though a little imprecise but I like it just because it resembles a Tie interceptor because of the wings I have this version so I don't think I need this version and honestly I think Lego should focus on better ideas like a V-19 torrent or a V-wing Starfighter because the Bad Batch managed to bring it back on screen

it's a good set the 2023 one, the only thing that kind of upset me are the little circular sticker details on the side. I accidentally put mine on wrong and now the entire wing doesn't look right (that may have been present also on the 2017 one). it could just be me being a crybaby, but honestly I feel like it should have been a print

I missed out on the 2017 version. I mean I'm not into LEGO myself but I thought the set look "cute"! Yes I did watched the show and I know it's accurate to that Yoda episode. So now I got another chance to buy this new version of it!

Hey Ryan, Well eat my hat, R2 with back printing all the time, did not think they. Thought it was reserved for the 18 plus sets.
At this point, this kind of lego small starfighter/vehicle (including A Wing or other Jedi Starfighter) should at least have 3 figures (with one of them is a trooper or ground staff), with small side build like a stairs or bomb holder, and more detail like a landing gear, something like the A-Wing Starfighter (75175) from Rogue One packaging era that kinda nailed it in term of playability and value
Just did an inflation calculation and now $25 in 2017 dollars is $31.58 today so with inflation only getting worse the cost is getting closer and closer together
I just think landing gear would have gone a long way on both models.
This set would have been fine if they just had that 3rd fig like Obis fighter.

Great video! But I disagree with your comment on the whole "it's now 4 bucks more that's about it" on the basis for international buyers because international buyers will get screwed further from this.
Where I live (Singapore), I remember this set being about only 49SGD back in 2017 when it was like 25USD (this was even with the horrible exchange rate of 1USD-1.46SGD) now it's a whopping 65 Dollars if I were to go to the stores and buy one (47.70 USD). Much more than the 35USD cost. Even if you adjust the price of the 2017 to SG's inflation rate it'd only be about 55-56 dollars at best. 56 to 65 is a pretty hefty jump considering there is no new addition in terms of minifigures or whatnot.
This applies the same to the Snub Pirate fighter as well. Whatever "medium tier" lego sets they are releasing right now are just expensive to the point that you rather spend slightly more and get something like the X wing starfighter or the N1 etc

I think the new one looks way better 1st of all on the wings it doesn’t have ugly technic pieces sticking out 2nd of all the cockpit looks way better with the new windshield piece 3rd of all R2-D2 has back printing 4th of all the clip for yoda’s lightsaber 5th of all the design looks way sleeker instead of bulky 6th of all R2-D2 has more studs to hold on to 7th of all yoda’s skin color is more accurate and also I just love it

Although I don't really love this set, it reminds me alot of a tie interceptor but way uglier, I do want the Yoda minifig & I one day want a fleet of jedi starfighters & it would be incomplete without yodas at the forefront
