As I understand it the HITBOX is still one of the only ways to get proper grown up arcade buttons in a leverless right? So if anything it’s better than all these knockoff low profile mechanical keyboard switch models. Plus the fact that the case has actual weight. They don’t need to “step their game up”, they need to reduce their margins to compete with all the AliExpress-tier junk. They’re charging way too much for 12 SANWA buttons and no lever.
It all depends on what you would like to use. EVO was won with a Hori Hayabusa RAP. This was a stick. Punkdagod (a top 20 SF6 player) uses a PS5 Controller. I'd always recommend a stick because it might make the game more fun. However, there is no inherent advantage to having a stick, a leverless, or a pad. Other than maybe form factor for transportation. I use a Hori Alpha Stick.

Leverless is way more problematic for long sessions than a proper stick. You’re going to need to work on your stick technique if it’s causing you problems, a leverless controller will only be worse.

the fact that l3 and r3 are so small is a really big deal breaker for me. i think they should have been full size buttons somewhere easy to press. having the extra keybinds for stuff like drive impact is huge
Those buttons are also INCREDIBLY useful for Tekken due to its robust macro system. I really don't understand why manufacturers won't move away from 6/8 button layouts
SF6 is a 6 button game, you already have an additional 2 buttons if you want to use drive impact/parry on buttons (I play SF6 like a 7 button game, as I use a button for DI)
@@lowercvse People adding additional buttons for fringe benefits doesn't mean it's more than a 6 button game. All you need to play is 6 buttons, every function is mapped to them. Also CPT ruling doesn't allow the same function mapped to multiple buttons, so having extra jump buttons isn't allowed anymore. It's in the the 4.2.1 section of the CPT rules. I don't think there's much benefit to anything more than 7 (DI button is important). It's mostly preference/ergonomic value.
So this button are not like any other switches so if it broken we need to send back to razer to fix it or there is 3rd party can do the replacement part?
I'm a newbie when it comes to fighting games, but I noticed none of these arcade sticks/leverless controllers have Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz wireless functionality, which I think is a shame. I'd really love for stick makers to start putting wireless functionality in their controllers, why exactly is this not the standard in 2023? I get that these controllers cater to the hardcore players who will always use wired anyway, but a wireless option would be amazing. I don't even think there's a video game controller worth more than 40 dollars coming out without wireless functionality nowadays, but expensive arcade sticks/leverless controllers worth hundreds of dollars don't have them? It's fine to even add a little bit of input lag but give us the choice. Would love to hear from anyone who knows of a leverless that can run wirelessly.
you ansered your question already. These companies cater to the hardcore, and the hardcore hate nothing more than input lag. Imo there's no reason to spend the extra money developing these controllers just to add a feature that your primary audience wont use. And im pretty sure at tournaments, it is required you plug in your controller unless its a dualsense.
If that's what you want 8bitdo has a arcade stick with Bluetooth connectivity that you can upgrade to sanwa stick+buttons, and with any brook board based leverless/arcadestick you could throw in the brooks wireless board
From what I heard, a lot of these controllers can cause a lot of interference for the signal. They generally have a bunch of metal and pretty thick edges. I don't think I've seen anyone else than brooks and 8bitdo really even try a wireless option for the arcade stick. But from what I understand and have read about padhacks etc the chassis of the controller can be a bit of an obstacle. Then there's the tournament angle and the "hardcore" nature of the sticks so it might be difficult to justify a feature not that many would actually go for if it made the thing cost even more than it already does. If you want a wireless leverless controller you'll probably need to DIY or order custom from somewhere for now. Though I'm happy of I'm proven wrong.
Why does down have to be moved to the thumb area in the first place. WASD would be more comfortable if it was made out of little round buttons when it comes to fighters.
Good question but I’ve explained in previous videos already. WASD is good for some things, but generally the middle finger has to do double duty which makes some moves harder and makes various shortcuts very hard if not impossible
Up is the button on the bottom. Down is in the middle. WASD isn't used because you don't have a finger for each button. The jump button is bigger and on the bottom so you can use both thumbs. It makes certain things like instant-air moves and jump cancels easier.

My only gripe with those DIY snack box like controller is it doesn't have anything to absorb the button pressing impact...playing for a long time does kinds hurt my fingers. Another thing is that although it supports most consoles...but it doesn't support ps5/xsx...I always have to use a brook...Hopefully the kitsune is worth it solving those issues...
I was so set on buying one of these till I saw no Xbox support.. so I went ahead and ordered a Snackbox Micro, but I really wanted the Kitsune for the aesthetics and official license.. Would you recommend Kitsune over Snackbox Micro or vice versa? If I was on PS5 which one would be better in your opinion?
Disappointing for $300, I bought one of AliXpress for $60, and the buttons light up with multiple patterns, as does the board. It also comes with various SOCD modes and is compatible with all current consoles and PCs. Don't get me wrong, I love Razer products and own many of them, but this one is a pass for me. Maybe wait for Kitsune V2.
not very. apparently, you "can" remove the art, but you can't replace it once you take it off. So, it makes NO sense to buy a custom art one just to switch out the art. But a reg black one and just add ur own art (it would have to be a custom print and then you apply yourself).
Can someone seriously explain why I would get this over something similar like a flatbox or rtu mini hitbox with brook ps5 converter, which will end up a fraction of the cost of the Kitsune?
The explanation is, you pay a premium price because it’s Razr. Stick w other options. I bought a 3D printed LED w low profile switches for 70 bucks that’s SOCD.
The main reason is probably availability. If you don’t want to build one, availability isn’t … I want to go with… “reliable” around the world. It’s not sold out. There’s no wait time. They order….and in a few days, it’s there. I’m sure ppl know of other options. I’m sure ppl know of the super secret method that they think everyone else knows about. But there’s also the group of ppl who are paying for the absence of hoops. They have the money and don’t want to deal with converters, wires, “don’t make me think”. I just want the thing. That’s who this is for.
Anything that's compatible with PS5 is gonna cost you, unfortunately. You could buy something for your PC and then buy a Wingman FGC later down the line to make it easier on your wallet.
Even considering a $300 leverless reasonably priced just because you can use it on PS5 without a converter pretty much sums up why I don't play on consoles anymore.
Just got mine and i love it, being my first non pad controller im still getting use to it but when im on a roll it feels soooo good and sooo satisfying!!! I had trouble getting super arts out n some moves out consistently in combos on a pad and now i can get any special out on command being im new to SF6 but a vet in MK
If you’ve already learnt stick, you won’t get much mileage out of switching, and it’s a pain in the ass to retrain your muscle memory. What helped me learn stick was playing other games with a stick like platformers and shmups. Imagine playing shmups on a leverless layout… These things don’t replace sticks. They’re a workaround for people of my generation who want to be fighting game sweats but grew up using a pad or keyboard. They’re less ergonomic for really long sessions. Some pros have picked them up because they offer a few unique motions and shortcuts that make the difference at that level of play. But I don’t think it matters for most of us.

@@housealan334 Your gripe is with Sony, not these controller manufacturers. If you want ps5 compatibility, you are going to have to pay because these manufacturers have to pay out the ass for the licensing. If you don't want something that works on ps5, just buy a fightbox for a little over $100...
it should be shoulder width, current construction is too narrow, we have to squeeze pecs too much
I can't get this to work on PC, my FS12 worked instantly. will return it if I can't get it to work.
get get the haute 42 this price is ridiculous
I bought this but sold it 2 months later because i hated the buttons spacing. They feel too far apart
that cable lock is actually genius
Nobody has ever yanked a cable to the point of disconnection in a tournament, I don't see the point in the feature at all
@@DriveCancelDC its not always about being at a tournament, sometimes cables just get caught on stuff or a cat attacks your cable or something, its just nice to know its not gonna damage the box or the cable. And it looks nice.
Nothing new
I didn't care for it when I tried it at Evo. I couldn't comfortably rest my fingers on the buttons without triggering them. I walked away with an MPress Nano instead that day (PC player btw)
Some glow around the buttons would have been nice.
The lack of extra buttons is a deal breaker for me
Extra buttons as in ? L3 r3 is a great plus over snackbox.. i think i am going to get it but 300 dollar will definately hurt my pocket
Wow! Man I gotta be honest HITBOX needs to step their game up. They have to evolve or die.
It takes some getting used to (like all things) but the Razer Kitsune is the premier fighting stick that will take anyone over the edge!
I never played fighting games much, would this work for a novice or should I just get a stick?
It all depends on what you would like to use. EVO was won with a Hori Hayabusa RAP. This was a stick. Punkdagod (a top 20 SF6 player) uses a PS5 Controller. I'd always recommend a stick because it might make the game more fun. However, there is no inherent advantage to having a stick, a leverless, or a pad. Other than maybe form factor for transportation.
I use a Hori Alpha Stick.
Reasonable price.. its 350 euro's for a case with rgb lightning ,a fighting board and cherry switches, the hardware is maybe 30€ to make. This is absurd
Hey! I watched all of your 3ds videos. Good times
my issue with the razer kitsune is simple. If im going to spend %300 on a controller, I might as well spend 50 more and get the Victrix ones which allow me to customize are heavier, premium metal case etc. I agree the the kitsune allows esier access to these controllers so its good for new players, but there are better cheaper options if you do you're research
That Victrix cost 399$ plus tax in my area so I bought the Cammy version kitsune for 50$ less.
How is everyone feeling about switching to leverless? I'm awaiting my Kitsune. Very nervous as I've been a stick player for over 30 years. My hands just don't like the pain from long sessions.
I'm switching so I don't end up with problems later in life.
Leverless is way more problematic for long sessions than a proper stick. You’re going to need to work on your stick technique if it’s causing you problems, a leverless controller will only be worse.
@@ChrisStoneinator I grew up with keyboard and I never had any of these issues with leverless controllers. While my forearm felt like dying after using a stick. Leverless is just more ergonomic for me and no, it isn't cheating.
@@anon3631 ofc it isn't cheating. Inputs are inputs
Someone’s getting paid to sell lol. I’ll stick to haute42.
How silent is silent? Sounds kind of loud on the audio?
I just want a leverless that has a headphone jack, thanks victrix but you’re too pricey and bulky, so I just have to wait for qanba to pair up with arcade shock again for another obsidian all button
$300 for a controller is reasonable? You can buy a Series S for that price.
Yeah I hate how we just accepted to pay absurd prices for literally an ergonomic keyboard
I don't think that's a fair comparison since the series S was specifically made to be a low end/cheap option for the XBOX consoles. But... I do think that knocking off $100 would make the price actually reasonable.
The buttons in this are like $20 of parts maximum, the switches another $15, the PCB being PS5/PC only won't be expensive (even the Brook board that supports Switch/PS4/PS3/PS5/Xbox Series/Xbox One/Xbox 360/PS5 is only like $135) @@smoothsavage2870
The markup is truly insane, as it costs even more than the Snackbox which is at least custom made by a small USA team.
Sony and Razor at its finest
Still love my snack box v2 full sized, being able to cut new button holes and customize everything else
it's just like Hitbox layout for directional, with 8 -buttons for your right hand
Try out the SGF Zappa and Bridget controllers. $225 and $100 respectively. Former ps5 compatible, latter up to ps4 with passthrough or loading controller keys
“It’s ready to receive” lol, it’ll definitely be ready if people start losing matches and get upset.
the fact that l3 and r3 are so small is a really big deal breaker for me. i think they should have been full size buttons somewhere easy to press. having the extra keybinds for stuff like drive impact is huge
@@DriveCancelDC You don’t think CPT ruling of 11 action buttons makes SF6 more than a 6-button game?
Yeah I highly agree. If I want to join the meta by buying a leverless controller, I might as well do it all the way. Make all the buttons big.
At15:25, what other official all-button controller is he talking about?
I preordered the Chun Li version, so excited 🥳
So this button are not like any other switches so if it broken we need to send back to razer to fix it or there is 3rd party can do the replacement part?
350€? Y‘all niggaz trippin. That’s why I switched over to PC. There you can use old sticks and controllers with no issues
I was waiting for this. I think this will be my next arcade controller pickup.
How is the input lag ?
350$ just make this totally uninteresting. The fact you said "reasonable price" is honestly mindblowing lol
I’ve had mine for a few days now and I love it. It’s my first leverless controller, and after some time I got used to it… I have to say it’s worth the price
It's not out yet brother, first batch release date is October 31st
@@usernamenotfound6568 you can go to a razer store and pick one up. That’s what I did
@@usernamenotfound6568 My Cami Edition came in today and I ordered through Razer directly.

*Big question* @nihongogamet
I just got SF6 and this arcade stick, what settings should I use?
I hear so much back and forth but who knows?
Maybe you?
Thank you for any feed back in on pc
man i really want one but i cant justify the price for this one, hoping they reduce the price or ill just wait for a good deal sale most likely.
The socd update is still not out . I wonder if it will ever be out or they just hope people forget about it
You like it better than the Victrix Pro FS?
How's the button spacing compared to the snackbox? Which one is better in your opinion ?
I saw the price and knew id never get one. I know its nice, i want it , but just cant do it.
I'd love to get the controller but they are 3-7 Months backlogged on amazon so I'll probably have to get something else instead
Buy from Razer, they ship out in 2 weeks.
@@TheLegendOfTerry I bought a Flatbox from Ultraardade instead. Half the price (including shipping and tax) for the same features except ps5 compatability. I still wanna get this at some point but only when its reduced
SOCD rules are controlled by Capcom firmware for SF6 right?
Brand leverless controllers are obscenely expensive. What boggles my mind is how people just buy these up without browsing for better alternatives... We have plenty of options which deliver the same experience, for half the price or less.
The left button gets stuck for some reason. So it will keep backdashing….. idk what to do cause it’s only day 2
It looks good but I don’t like Optical buttons . Snack Micro is my favorite buttons . I actually went back to arcade stick even though I can use leverless.
Just pre-ordered one! Excited to try it out.
That price is one of the biggest "NOPE" I've ever come across...
👁👄👁
I was so set on buying one of these till I saw no Xbox support.. so I went ahead and ordered a Snackbox Micro, but I really wanted the Kitsune for the aesthetics and official license..
Would you recommend Kitsune over Snackbox Micro or vice versa? If I was on PS5 which one would be better in your opinion?
I wish they added extra buttons, daigos controller goes so hard and I am afraid to put holes in the metal of my hitbox case :(
No headphone out?
Disappointing for $300, I bought one of AliXpress for $60, and the buttons light up with multiple patterns, as does the board. It also comes with various SOCD modes and is compatible with all current consoles and PCs. Don't get me wrong, I love Razer products and own many of them, but this one is a pass for me. Maybe wait for Kitsune V2.
That’s the beauty of options I guess. So many choices to meet mostly any and all needs these days.
Are you going to Tokyo Game Show next next week?
How does this compare to the Vitrix FS-12?
The question is how easy it is to replace the cover if you want a custom art cover for it. This is what makes the other hitbox appealing to me.
not very. apparently, you "can" remove the art, but you can't replace it once you take it off.
You really shouldn't. This thing is overpriced AF
That’s who this is for.
nah it's way too expensive for what it is, almost gave me a heart attack
It’s Razer, the number one sign to not buy it.
Yeah the “Peoples controller” I had to laugh and £300 😂
But the RGB makes you better
What other PS5 option do you have?
get a j o b
I want to get back into fighting games after MANY years. What's the best budget option for a slim controller for PS5 with a traditional stick?
Anything that's compatible with PS5 is gonna cost you, unfortunately. You could buy something for your PC and then buy a Wingman FGC later down the line to make it easier on your wallet.
Unfortunately no backwards compatibility
any chance it will be also available for xbox?
Even considering a $300 leverless reasonably priced just because you can use it on PS5 without a converter pretty much sums up why I don't play on consoles anymore.
Just got mine and i love it, being my first non pad controller im still getting use to it but when im on a roll it feels soooo good and sooo satisfying!!! I had trouble getting super arts out n some moves out consistently in combos on a pad and now i can get any special out on command being im new to SF6 but a vet in MK
Glad you’re enjoying it!
It's gonna take me a long time to get used to these hitbox controllers. I got a $80 cheapy until I can grasp how to properly use them.
If you’ve already learnt stick, you won’t get much mileage out of switching, and it’s a pain in the ass to retrain your muscle memory.
What helped me learn stick was playing other games with a stick like platformers and shmups. Imagine playing shmups on a leverless layout…
These things don’t replace sticks.
Making it known thats its hotswap should be a priority for this kind of review and you dont need ONLY razer's switches. Keychron is another company that makes low profile optical switches
I plan on opening it and doing more videos if possible up but this only my initial testing. Just haven’t had time yet.
Does it work on Nintendo switch or Steam deck?
Is it available for left-handed people?
Question. The up/down socd can that be turned off and make it more of a traditional hitbox input style?
The controller itself doesn't have SOCD cleaning. Street Fighter 6 natively has SOCD on the software side.
@@blink_mamba9595 I don't think this is true, otherwise why would manufacturers have released CPT compliant SOCD modes via firmware updates? The Razer has no SOCD mode selection and just goes by what CPT uses, which is pretty stupid for people who don't play Capcom games.
