    Hey a little bit of advice, boot the Deck into Gaming Mode (handheld) and go to Display settings. Scroll all the way down and you'll see "Maximum Game Resolution", set it to Native. This will make every game launch at the resolution of the display it's plugged in to, then you can adjust it from there in game settings for performance reasons

    I have a gaming laptop, but I want the console experience like PS5 and when I got the Deck Oled I can't stop using it. Playing steam games, remote play PS5 and emulate games. Funny thing is many games run better on the Deck and fan is more quiet than the laptop (even though the specs on laptop is great). Tried TASM 2 on laptop and it was laggy at some parts, but the Deck handles it great and the controller customization is peak. I don't care about the anti cheat thing since I don't play much online games like that.

      @GamerInDanger Yip, way more expensive, but not just a streaming device😅. Now I use my laptop for games like Quake Champions to stream to Deck and play anywhere at home, edit my videos and test things before adding to Deck (like recently wanted The Amazing Spider-man 2 on Deck, but installed first on Windows and copied that folder over and ran the .exe through proton). I like getting away from Windows and game on a Linux device (Windows gaming is a hassle and Valve fixed that). Great video showing the Deck's desktop use and using it as a main PC.

    Yeah the switch from one platform to another is never easy, things are fundementally different. Linux is not harder, in fact its way easier to understand whats going on with your computer, but its completely different from windows so its initially a steep learning curve. And Sadly SteamOS is one of the worst linux distros out there, due to it being locked down, and limited to flatpaks.

    I just got mine last month in order to play baulders gate 3 and a few other older games I missed. It works great aside from some minor tinkering things you mentioned. One big complaint I have is no matter where I look I can’t seem to figure out how to do a split screen multiplayer on baulders gate 3 (please help!). I did manage to play cult of the lamb on coop tho so that tells me it’s likely a baulders gate exclusive issue or maybe something in the settings I’ve yet to uncover.

      That's like saying driving is difficult if you've never done it. Yeah duh. As long as you want to learn it's fine. As with everything it's not actually that hard. The thing with Linux is figuring out what distro you need and H/W needs. Do that upfront and life is a lot simpler. Distros (the packaged up OS) range from pretty easy beginner stuff to rock hard turbo nerd stuff
      ..EG on a sliding scale SteamOS - to SilverBlue/Bazzite/Nobara etc that are a smidge more complex - to normal desktop versions like PopOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, Mint etc - to build it yourself stuff like slack, gentoo, arch etc

    I’d love to get the Steam Deck, but the fact that I’d have to pay between £39.99-£59.99 for games, and then have to download plug-ins and other things just to play them is a complete an utter headache. I wish games were literally as easy as pay, download and play, but sadly a lot aren’t. I’d want ‘Red Dead II’ but that’s only ‘playable,’ so I’d have to go through hoops and circles to get it to work, also, the last ‘Call Of Duty’ isn’t even supported. So I’ve taken a step back, which is highly disappointing.
    I know the community is phenomenal, and they have been with answering my questions on Reddit, but I can’t be sitting on that all day.

    • @GamerInDanger
      @GamerInDanger  3 месяца назад +2

      Honestly I’ve never played a ‘playable’ rated game that isn’t good lol, it’s mostly just things like small text. I do want to clarify that I know I said most games won’t work immediately, but I meant on the monitor. You can basically get any game on steam that isn’t ’unplayable’ and it’ll work on handheld immediately (mostly)
