    Honestly have been planning to get this formovie for sometime now … but planning on moving to a bigger house before purchasing this … currently I have 85 in my living room n the bedroom 75 … so hopefully when I move to a house will definitely get something way gigantic in my new living room which is the formovie project with a 120 screen

    What is the best ALR Screen for 150”

  • @1Raptor85
    @1Raptor85 Год назад +4

    I've used nothing but projectors for my main "tv" for around 20 years, most of those annoyances you listed at the beginning are mostly for business class type projectors, most decent cinema projectors are short throw/high angle capable, you can stand ALMOST in front of the screen and not block it and the projector doesn't need to be that far away. they're a lot brighter also so with a proper backdrop the colors are fantastic. Laser projectors are nice but you could also spend about half this for a nice LCD projector and it's 99% as good. (plus by being non-"smart" I don't have to worry about what apps it supports, it supports whatever I can run a cable out of)
    My current system is 4k ceiling mount w/ 150in fixed frame screen (soooo much easier to calibrate to than drop screens....), whole system + mounting hardware cost less than a 80in tv did back when I got it.

      @@gonzalo6639 OptomaUHD50, discontinued model at this point so there's much better available, cheaper too,, but still a really nice projector, built in upscaler (on a second HDMI input, one is for native 4k, one is for upscaling). At the time I got it I paid around $2100 total for projector + screen + mounting hardware, for point of reference a comparable 4k 75in TV ran around $6k same year I got this. (you can get both for FAR cheaper now)

    a projector and 100' screen OR latest 83' OLED TV ... i mean for 4500 $ its not so easy to pick one over another. last but not least, a UST for me is about discretion, this go out of the window if you need a permanent solid screen in the room to project on it.

    Whatever projector can fit your pocket, fit your space, i say BUY. Projector tech are improving as we now speak. I can watch in day time, just get a cheap shower plastic curtain to cover up my side window. It works like magic. I can watch during noon time, in fact anytime. Projector big screen, very cinematic feel. Simple projector set-up is sufficient for low budget. As the name PROJECTOR is a project, once properly set-up, you can enjoy your media esp. movie. The only thing is how deep your pockets. If you are okay with your TV, you can also benefit from projectors. Maybe some day, you will be collecting projector. I don't think people collect TV, i will.

    Damn after 3,500.00 for the projector and 1,200.00 for the screen. you might as well just buy the 85" LG qned and not worry about any of the issues that come with projectors. Not to mention the glare from the gloss ceiling since it's pointing up. pretty good projector but this is for the "rich" people who can spend whatever on things like this. Why not get a screen that auto drops out of the celiing

    • @TheMeefive
      @TheMeefive Год назад +4

      Nah, you just have to worry about the issues that come with TVs. Lol My sister has a two year old LG Oled. It lost Netflix after a couple of months. Six months later it stopped connecting to wifi. A year later it developed a horizontal line. Now it has two. She puts up with it because new one is too expensive for2years of usage.
      My $100 1080p projector gives me a 150 inch screen and if it develops a problem a new one would cost $100.

    • @Nedman59
      @Nedman59 Год назад

      I can see your reasoning, and it makes perfect sense with people with younger eyes. My problem is that normal TVs make my eyes water after around 2 hours of viewing. The main problem with UST I can see is where to put the centre speaker or soundbar. A soundbar will fit above the speaker, but without the screen being mounted very high, the soundbar will still need to be angled upwards to project sound towards your ears. But angled upwards will also point the soundbar's top facing Atmos speakers back closer to the screen.

    • @d.j.cantelli8074
      @d.j.cantelli8074 9 месяцев назад +2

      Wait....how can you compare 85" to 100"+?! Huge difference. Not to mention screen glare from TV is much worse. In fact these can't be screen glare with projectors.

    • @grmk1b
      @grmk1b 6 месяцев назад

      You'll likely get less quality from the QNED and you'll most definitely get less screen.
      As far as pricing, obviously you can scale down to a projector that fits your budget. These are for people looking for a massive, immersive screen. I knew that was me when my 75" LED was not good enough.
      For me, it boiled down to shelling out for an 85" OLED or going for a 110" Formovie. I have the order in for the projector, and I'm 100% positive it was the right decision for me.
