If I'm not wrong, the first Barathrum album was recorded with 3 bass guitars (and they also claimed the drummer was using human bones instead of drum sticks).
This sounds pretty cool. While ago Simon Smith recorded acoustic versions of some black metal classics, which sounded even better. Would love to hear only bass or acoustic guitar black metal album.
Really liked the ending of the song. The thick sound of the bass added such a cool atmosphere to that riff. It's a shame bass is not used in black metal very well, but when it is, it adds so much to the song. Great video!
I have a long ways to go but I’m trying to make black metal and doom metal with just bass, drums and vocals. I’ve done weird things like split my bass signal in two and having one bass eqd high and guitar type distortion; things like that. It’s experimental but fun
I used to do bass and lead vocals in a punk band and we kept recruiting guitarists who turned out to be unreliable and didn't show up to practise/gigs. So a lot of our shows ended up sounding kinda like this as we had it *down* playing with no guitars. On the album we did I had to play the guitars. (Which is fine these days but was uncharted territory back then.)
LOL, dude, it sounds like somebody kicked you in the nuts. I'd use some effects on the voice ... we're in 2023 y'know, it should be a standard method by now.
Whats your opinion on Grausamkeit aka B.S.o.D. aka Trollheim(etc)? Despite the questionable views of the artist, I consider his work exceptionally good. For me it also kinda seems like he put the use of synths, like Varg did with Burzum, to a whole next level, especially in "Krätze". Also his "Dungeon Synth" stuff as Trollheim is so nice to listen to since its very ambient
@@Farvann A bass only black metal song. Highlighting techniques used, pedals/hardware (and software if necessary) tuning, recommendations, tips etc etc. Might sound simple to answer and a pointless video but i love black metal and im trying to progress my bass playing and think this sounds so awesome. Thanks. Durbatuluk rocks.
Such a good voice for black metal, can never get enough of those howls
Yeah and I can actually tell the words 😮
Agreed. Pay attention Farvaan 👍🤘
Necromantia released some of the best BM I know with an 8 string and a 4 string bass and no rhythm guitars. Everything is possible in BM.
Was looking for this comment, great album!
and Barathrum. and Anthennath, and early Watain, whose bass and guitars united perfectly.
Scarlet evil witching black and ancient pride are some if not the best greek black metal releases
Just a little song for the summer silly season. Cheers!
If it was one whole scale lower and no distortion/overdrive, it would have been perfect. Good song, though.
Vocals are really good
But aren't bass
When you're only left with a bassist because your guitarist had.. multiple accidents happen to him.
so that's why a lot of bands have many guitarists!
That is so sick! I love bass, especially when I hear it use in black metal genre. Nevertheless, I stuck here because of this golden vocal!
Awesome vocals man, keep it up!
Armagedda's album Ond Spiritism is a perfect example of bass being used audibly and integral to the music in Black Metal,I wish more bands did this
Amen

Love those vocals! I’m not really a massive fan of the high pitched and prefer those pained howls, much more aggressive sounding imo.

Necromantia be like:
Bass + guitar effect = metal ✅
Cliff burton have done it with super metal riff..
I would like to hear an entire album in this style
its sounds god damn cool man, we need more bass black metal!
That's called blackened death. :D

Great video!
Your vocals have really improves since the beginning, props 🎉
Davie504 aprov ... oh no, he don't like metal 😁
Inspired by Necromantia?
If Cliff Burton would have discovered BM before Metallica 🐼🦡🦓🦝🎸🤘👍
I'm a bassist and I have to admit, this is way better than what I expected when I opened the video. And the vocals are awesome dude !!
Same thing. Fuck guitars!!!
Stoner Doom is a good one with just bass.
Nice Necromantia cover.
if lemmy did black metal
man you accidentally made a riff i've been working on bruh (nice song tho)
The secret ingredient hehe
Necromantia's first few albums are only bass if I recall correctly
Yes except their last one
There are good bands like that, in my city there is one, Defuntos.
Only Bass? Weird, I can hear drums and vocals too.
Edit: Spelling.
Weird 🤔
@Farvann
So, you just prove it’s perfectly possible without any guitar.
Bravo.
APRICOTS
Only the trve will understand

Yeah, I know what it is, I mean, i play the guitar part with my bass on all my songs !
Necromantia did use only bass, this band got rid of the guitar and replaced it with an 8-string bass.
this is scandalous that I had to scroll this far to see someone naming Necromantia, they're underrated
Sounds like MoRKObOt with voclas
Hey Farvann! What’s your opinon on Tancëlcore, Kellersynth ect…?
Barathrums first album (Hailstorm) is a pretty good example of being bass-lead black metal
I used to do bass and lead vocals in a punk band and we kept recruiting guitarists who turned out to be unreliable and didn't show up to practise/gigs.

Well I guess you started a trend there, see those "Bass-BM"-Bands popping up in some months.
Jokes aside, sounds good.
Forget this posuer shit listen to Necromantia and Susvourtre
There was a local black metal band where I used to live near that did this just drummer, vocalist and bassist. Bassist was vocalist
🖤🖤🖤
Vocals sound a bit like Walknut. Less reverb ofc 😅
W-What!?! THERE IS BASS IN BLACK METAL???
Cliff Burton would be proud.
The black metal police aprove this🤟🏻
Man, your voice is very close to Franta’s. Not bad.
With only bass.. And drums and vocals!
The Band Skuldom doesn´t have a guitar
pretty interesting. i think adding more distortion and playing some power chords way down the neck would sound even better
the album reality is in evil from lords of the left hand is enterely only bass
I wonder if there are any two piece bands that sound like this.
Gallhammer - At The Onset of The Age of Despair
has the greatest bass solo.
Is no one gonna talk about that satisfying ass riff
Three scary words:
Gnaw Their Tongues
Davie504 will be proud
I will (hopefully) be alive to see farvann hit 100k.... AT LAST
Maybe in 12 months or something. Stay healthy! 😄
it sounds like if alternative had harsh vocals lol
Thick fat tone, sounds great
wow that sounds great and it's also a very good song👍🤘👍
Very well done!
It honestly sounds more or less the same as using a 7 or 8 string, haha. Pretty good stuff.
by tone it's basicly just batushka
Reminds me a little bit of profinatica
Doldrum have some good bass lines.
This just sounds like death metal
Necromantia tribute? :)
Never heard of them to be honest 😐
@@Farvann really??? O_O Pioneers of Greek black metal so far...
"Necromantia has entered the chat"
best thing i've heard all month
LOL, dude, it sounds like somebody kicked you in the nuts.
I'd use some effects on the voice ... we're in 2023 y'know, it should be a standard method by now.
Don't want to
Bass in black metal is already a taboo... but ONLY bass??? This is BLASPHEMY!
Necromantia would like to have a word with you
Dope bass tremolo picking! 🔥🤘🏼

Ich hab tatsächlich bis heute kaum was von Grausamkeit gehört. Kannst du mir einen Release empfehlen?
Sounds like TOOL
Sounds really good to me
🔥🔥🔥
if TOOL made black metal 😅
True kvlt spinal tap
cool riffs Biervann
Intro sounds like Tool:)
Turtorial video ?
About what?

SLAP LIKE AT THIS VIDEO
Fkn great concept.
What sorcery is this?
amazing how you recreated the sound of the drums and vocals with the bass
Right?!
I wish that talented at bass
Bass Respect!
It is not a bass if you use a plectrum. That is just a four-string guitar with low tuning... But I appreciate your motivation...
Don't let Lemmy know what you just said 🤫
Someboy listened to the final Gallhammer Album ^^
I have their full discography. But I prefer their Gloomy Lights album over anything else.
Really a great track 👌🤘
Really good.
How to kill Lars with a song:
This sounds cool but it sounds more like sludge than black
Blass Metal
Whoa nice job!
The title is click bait. Song contains drums and vocals. I demand my money back.
💰
Sick asf 🙌
🫀🫀🫀TRVE!
Unholy^2
gnaw their tongues ist das beste bsp dafür
Офигенный вокал ❤
