Interesting action-platformer game which reminds me somewhat of Leander (AKA Legend of Galahad). Choose from 3 mighty heroes and embark on a quest to rid the world of the deadly Manax, collecting all kinds of magic potions and items along the way.
Each of the three characters on offer has three attacks: standard, powerful, plus one when crouching. Crouching also instigates an automatic block, which deflects enemy blows and also causes certain enemies to turn around and go the other way. Of the three, the huntress has the longest jump, plus gets a really cool crossbow when purchasing the armour upgrade; this is the character I chose for this video.
This is the kind of game where you'll want to run into walls to check if there might be a hidden passageway or secret. There's a level warp hidden at the end of the first scene in level 1, which I've added as a chapter at the end of the video.
Some additional notes:
1) The two gems above the player's health bar represent your attack power. Collecting mystical sparkles upgrades your attack power, causing the gems to glow; dying will lose an attack charge.
2) Using a Midas ring turns any on-screen enemy into a bag of silver. A good strategy to earning cash is to herd the goblin enemies using your block move, then using a ring to spawn tons of cash; it's something I do a number of times throughout the video.

Man fantasy games in the 1990s were really ahead of their time.
Do you remember that game for sega....it was too down, like sci-fi type, action game. But it had book style RPG elements? Like you could modify your body and stuff, and by bionic parts? I CANNOT remember the name, and so i cannot find it to look up. Someone MUST know!

@@christinalaw3375 movies and PC/console fantasy games of the time had this cool sexy/risqué vibe to them. Usually bikini clad Amazon’s and Schwarzenegger esque bodybuilder warriors. Now the focus seems to be on “realism” which makes no sense since it’s all fantasy anyway.
This is totally not ahead of it's time. It is very 90s/80s barbarian. Just like rastan, sword of sodan and golden axe.

Absolutely loved this game. Played it all the time when I was a kid. I absolutely adore that goofy item collection/drop sound.

and so... 30 years later I found out the name of the first megadrive game I ever saw in my life in a toy store and I never saw or played it again because I never knew its name and it never passed through my hands, not even luckily... this dissencounter survived the time of hype of roms and emulators! ...and now it appears without any worries on my RUclips reel x'0
This is gaming!! No open world, grind fest. Just pure fun, and the era of when consoles generated there own sound with actual sound processers.

I so love it that armor shows on your character when you purchase it! And the ladder climbing animation is so cute...=D

Woah! Why am I just learning about this game now? I would have easily rented or bought this back in the day.
Impressive playthrough. More impressive (though it probably didn't feel like it when this game was new) is how much this seems like a "souls-like" game...The ability to block seems positively revolutionary for the times. The tea bagging of the dragon at the end was a nice touch. 🤣🤣
Soulslike? Really dude? Dark souls didnt invent dungeon crawling hack and slash action, you know.
And maybe other games had a crouch block before this (shinobi sequels.)

Great job as always. Nice the Midas spell turns a group of clustered enemies into needed cash. Shame you wouldn't be able to see your Big Bad Final Boss before she became a dragon. Would have been great to see a transform sequence. You turned your swordswoman into a crossbow babe, great for distance battles.

Do any of you remember a side scrolling medieval fantasy RPG, where you would have armor, and each hit the enemy landed on you knocked a piece off? And you could move the joystick up and down really fast to create this forcefield in front of you? It was usually just used to get through parts of the level where lots of projectiles were coming at you.

I used to dislike the genesis/megadrive sound (nintendo kid here) but now I've come to see its appeal. It's a very vaporwavy, blade runner-esque vibe.

Super hard game!
4:15 Level 1.2 b4 in the lava, when you have to jump the rocks (b4 the lower part with the chest followed by the fire guys), if you stay on the fifth rock it will send you flying in the air where if you fight your way all the way to the left, you get a blast stick n a potion.
4:45 the last rock in the lava (closer than the others) you can ride down safely into the lava to get a chest

I rented this a lot but then forgot it's name. I've been trying to find it for almost 20 years now.
in this game the wizard and the woman is cool to play but barbarian guy is bit of a challenge and his upgrade doesnt feel...upgrade except the damage part
I wanna remember an old game that's bugging me.. I can't remember it but I recall little pieces.. argh.. so bloody annoying. But I SWEAR it was in the arcades like Golden Axe.!? You had a whip / spiked ball chain thing that went out pretty far..? You swing off long chains I think ( maybe static ones ). Big character like Ax Battler guy. I think I remember some sort of electric magic power or something. Dark like altered beast / golden axe.. but maybe being 20+ years ago my mind now thinks this thing exists and maybe it was just golden axe 2 or 3.
I didn't have this game, but I did have Bram Stoker's Dracula, and this strikes me as a way better version of that game. I know there are probably many closer comparisons I could draw, but I was mainly a sports gamer.

Wow, the level design looks terribly confusing.
Its a game that encourage exploration. There are secret rooms, and part of the fun of the game is finding out which way to go and where hidden chests/items are. Should dungeons be "easy" to complete? Where's the fun in that?
@@Melvinvanharn I guess, it's just "not my cup of tea". I liked the game "Warlock" on the Sega Genesis, there were also a lot of hidden rooms in the castles, but imho it was better implemented. I guess it is the constant changing between different rooms/screens, that I don't like. But glad, that you enjoy it. Overall the game doesn't look bad.
I would trade graphics for a better sound chip... those blips and boops are disappointing.
Damn, the game certainly doesn't give you much time to react to enemies, given how little you can see in front of you when you walk.
