    Great review. Thanks for the detailed information on these Thin-o-Matics. I just got my first vintage... what I believe is a T-502 with the silver "linen" textured dial and a 663 movement. It runs ok, but is missing that micro rotor and certainly needs some service. As I prepare to dig in to some "light" hobby work on cleaning and servicing, your videos will be a huge help. Thanks!

    I just inherited a t502 from my grandfather. Beautiful, mine has the silver dial with arrows instead of numbers. Your black dial is soo sharp. Gorgeous.

    thank you, Wolfe, for the great vid just found your channel I do not think about my wrist 7.5 being large because of the sizes of watches today but what I do do :) bad english is wear these great watches under the wrist and make them like bracelets thank you for sharing, Minjoe

    Just a gorgeous design, Rolex has nothing on this piece! I'm in love!

    Damn, that's gorgeous. I'd love to own this watch, but with my 8 1\2 inch wrist, it's just too small for me. It's a curse that I love so many vintage watches, but most are just too small. That 36000 high beat hamilton you featured earlier sure looks good to me though. Love the case shape.

      Thanks Troy! As a fellow big wristed watch lover (7.5 inches), the struggle can be real when it comes to the smaller sizes of vintage watches. But frankly, I just enjoy them too much to fret about it. I regularly rock a 25mm Hamilton Ross and appreciate it as much as the 55mm G-Shock I wear when I'm bumbling through the woods.
      You're exactly right about the Dorchester though. The case shape and the taller height of it make it perfect for us thick wristers.

    I tend to agree with your choice not to Relume the hands on a patinated Dial!

    Great review man!, I thought that the micro rotors were some type of new idea or technology. I never thought to see a 1960 watch with one, can’t wait to see the service video. Thank you!

      What's mind blowing to me is that Buren patented the micro rotor design (they called it a "planetary rotor") in 1954 and first introduced it with the caliber 1000 in 1957! So this is mid-50's technology. Crazy.

    Can't forget the 100 series in solid 18k gold.

      Oh, but I can, and DID, forget the 100 series....
      You're spot on; the K-100 and K-150 models from 1955 through 1957 certainly deserved to have been mentioned. I totally missed them during my research since I started with the 1959 catalog. Great spot, thanks for pointing it out!

    hello, than you for the video. I have a Hamilton automatic with a black face, red lightning bolt 2nd hand, and 10k gold in a 501 movement. It runs but stops after 15 mins.. what kind of cost would it be to fix/clean it up and should I consider selling it? Than you.

    • @WolfeVintageWatches
      @WolfeVintageWatches  Год назад +1

      The 501 is a battery powered movement. Sadly, I do not have the skills to work on these electronic watches and I don't personally know anyone that does. I'd say a Google search is probably your best bet to find a watch maker that has experience with these watches/movements.
      As far as selling it, there is an active collecting community for the vintage Hamilton electrics. You can check out eBay for current asking prices, as well as completed sales, for these watches. That may help you decide if you'd like to hang onto the watch, or to try to sell it.

      Yes! I promised myself I wouldn't make any puns about the caliber number. I've had a devil of a time biting my tongue.

      Hi Sol - Apologies about that, but as you can imagine, I have more work to do than time to do it. I'd like nothing more to be able to restore your watch, but I won't make commitments if I can't keep them. I hope you understand.
