1955 Universal Geneve & 1959 Zenith Pilot watch. I rate these two the very best of your collection. I remember my first watch as a very young lad given to me by my dad. It was a seventeen jewel manual wind with acrylic crystal. I was 8 years old at the time and it was 1965. A family friend visited us from time to time and he showed me his watch and I pointed out that his watch did not have a ticking seconds hand. He was wearing an electric Bulova with a smooth seconds hand. I was impressed but had no comprehension how it worked. He was very proud of his purchase. These days I have a dozen watches three of which have automatic mechanical movements and the remainder are all quartz. My oldest quartz was given to me in 1978 by my father for my 21st birthday, a Seiko with a dark blue dial. I still own this watch and wear it occasionally. I will never part with it. I have no qualm about owning quartz movements as they almost never require servicing and they are accurate to with a few seconds a month. My latest acquisition is a dive watch and it is the only dive watch I own. It has a full loom and loses about 2 seconds a week.
Thank you for sharing these vintage watches. I really appreciate the quality of the video as well as the watches. It’s clear you really gravitate towards exceptionally clean, Swiss, stainless steel, round, automatic, water resistant watches with silver dials, from the 1950s-1960s. You have a few that exceptions to each of those characteristics but it’s easy to see your preferences. Your descriptions are spot on giving the precise dimensions, caliber, year of production, water resistance, and usually one or two things that make each watch special. A format that appeals to beginner and advanced collectors alike. While the UG Polerouter is my favorite I can appreciate all of them. I know that it is typically reccomended that people specialize in their watch collecting, I find it much more enjoyable for myself to have a diverse collection with specialized subgroups within a larger collection. For example, I have wrist and pocket watches, the pocket watches range from a 1777 Fusee chain drive to 1920-30s American Railroad models to a 1950s Patek minute repeater, and even a rare 1960s 18k Eterna automatic golf pocketwatch. My wrist watch collection is equally diverse with wide lug WWI era models from the late 1910s all the way up to a few nice Swiss complicated watches from the early 2000s like a JLC Master Geographic and a Omega Speedmaster Broadarrow. But my favorite watches fall into three categories, 1920-40s oversized rectangular watches, 1930-70 Chronographs, and 1950s-1970s Sport models. I also appreciate yellow and rose gold in addition to stainless steel. I especially gravitate towards dials that are black or have multi-color elements. I have plenty with plain silver dials but seek out dials that are more special like porcelain, black/gilt, rose gold, etc. I’ve been collecting for 25 years am lucky to have amassed some fantastic watches. Keep up your learning and collecting with a consideration to the idea of branching out a bit more in what you buy. You never truly know what you will discover that truly catches your fancy until you experience it so don’t be afraid to look beyond the styles you are comfortable with. One great part about buying vintage is you can always sell them on without losing much if anything and you can often experience ownership of some great watches for free or even make a little profit if you buy them right.
I am a 78 year old watch and other stuff collector and started collecting old mechanical watches in 1968. My collection is close to 1000 old watches of all the brands you show in this video plus hundreds more. I have all of the old Illinois collectabe models from the 1930s. I have sold, traded and given more watches away than I can count over the years. I still collect and just purchased a 1960s Breitling Navitimer yesterday, Thursday, March 28th 2024. I was also a pilot before my health went a little bad and I can't pass the physical anymore. So I have multiple pilot watches as well as diver watches, dress watches and all kinds of sport type wqtches. All of my collection is mechanical movements. I will not place a quartz watch in my hand much less put one on my wrist! I find you video very entertaining and informative. Hence I have subscribed, liked and selected All of your upcoming videos. Keep up the good work young man. By the way, I normally dislike music in videos however the type you publish means at least you have good taste in music as well as watches.
Wow. Thank you for sharing, I can just imagine how impressive your collection must be. I am sorry about your pilot test result. I do wish you many years of good health. If only we were next-door neighbours, I would ask to visit your home for an interview and film your collection for my “We Speak Time” series on this channel. I greatly appreciated your kind words and subscribed to my channel. :)
Respect Sir. You are a role model. 1000 watches, WOW. I just got into watch collecting in January 2024 and currently have around 50. But I will be gifting the ones I am not into any more. I started the hobby with Chinese watches now I have realized my passion is for Jeweled hand winding watches from 1920s-1970s . Wear your watches in good health
Thank you for an excellent video - perfect for those of us with a deep interest in quality vintage timepieces but without deep pockets. Please continue making videos like this!
I like vintage watches like you. My favourite watch is Omega cal. 613 with a black dial and a red second hand. From your colletion I choose Aquastar and Mido. Thank you for your review.
It's more fun if you dig in yourself and just buy what your eyes like , i mean no one would recommend you a Takano Watch because not many people know about it , the company only existed for 5 years , The Service could be difficult and there are not many spare parts , i need a new crown for example , the current one is somehow working but something doesn't fit , but this was one of my best vintage watch purchases , it looks class i love it , and my Zenith XL tronic Tuning fork watch were definitely the right pieces for my collection .
cyma is a highly underrated vintage watch brand and even today in 2024 you can still find absolute gems for very little money relative to most other well known brands like omega and Tissot ect. at a similar quality with very nice in house automatic and manual wind movements. recently i found a very nice 1960s stainless steel cyma "navy star" for a few hundred dollars in great condition.
Oh, if only we could return to the 33 to 36mm cased watches ! They definitely got it right in the 1940s to mid '60s. Or am I the only person fed up with today's overly large offerings ?
Great video. I liked the Bulova and the Hamilton, I think they are the most beautiful. However, all of them are stunning. I love the old faithfull watches. The wheels moving and the tic-toc of the pallet fork is mezmorizing. Thanks for the awesome video. Keep them coming. :0)
Thank you for your thorough comment. The Bulova is definitely a beauty. One thing I forgot to mention is the hidden crown can be very difficult to hand wind
Outstanding! I wish to have the original crown for my Universal Polerouter Geneve as well as the replacement winding mass of the micro rotor mechanism -perhaps even the ruby that goes inside the axle of the mass!
The crown on an UG is usually the issue. That’s why I always inform people to examine and make sure the original crown is on the watch. It is challenging to find a replacement. But good luck!
This video is great. There are brands in here I’ve never heard of. My goal is to get two vintage watches each from the year my parents were born. It helps narrow down my choices but still there are potentially hundreds of great watches to research
love hand winding mechanical, automatic watches.dont care for battery operated watches, love knowing that something with moving gears working when wearing a watch.
I was given a watch that was Branded super lux that I'm guessing was made in the sixties. It had a very plain face with no numbers, and said Swiss on the bottom. Gold-ish coloured hands similar to the Hamilton and markings to every 5 minutes only. 17 jewels. I've not been able to see one like it on the internet !!
Great video great watches all in great condition very informative as usual one thing I might suggest is that to use the term trust me it's 1 of the worst terms to use a few times as if we should really trust you or we don't trust you let me be Frank or something of that sort Cheers
Thank you for the note. I am sure many watch enthusiasts also know about this. But it’s good that you pointed that out for those who are new to the hobby. I have a playlist with imported Omega models that are not fully Swiss Made.
Thank you for the comment. I am actually my own strap supplier. But have stopped selling them on the site for a several years now. However, I have bought straps from this Japanese website a while back, and I must say they make some really fine and quality straps that work perfect on vintage watches. Here is a link to their website: curious-curio.jp/watch-bands/accurate-form
Thank you for the comment and question. I supply most of my straps. However, I no longer offer them on the site. Maybe will have some for sale in the future.
Great video. I would just like to ask if the Universal Geneve watch is missing a screw? I see there is one which I think holds the movement and next to it, a hole where a screw seems to be. Thanks.
Good eyes! It appears as the screw is missing, but for this case reference 3 screws with 3 case clamps is correct. However, it is common to find this reference with just 2 screws with 2 case clamps. In that case, have one clamp on the left and one across of it. The one in between the bumper springs do not require one.
My favorite of all 10 pieces is the Aquastar and second the Zenith, let me tell you woah mind blowing with all this Vintage pieces, and my last pick would be Universal of Geneve ,now that's incredible piece...? Question do you service other than your own pieces, or do you work with other customers, I have a 1940Ś Britix Chronograph,I took it to my local shop here in my hometown, but a seems to stop working, would you be available to service my watch, would you let me know my friend, thanks for presenting this magnificent iconic pieces well done, until next episode from all away from St George Utah..Viva watch making..!!
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule I will burnout if I accept repair jobs from people. I only service the watches that I sell or sold on my website.
Hey Sao! Looooove these watches. I have a Mido too. Question: Why is it called a “power wind”? It seems that I don’t need to wind it as much to get a full wind. Is there a special mainspring in the movement?
Very nice! Power wind, if I am correct, represents that this watch is an automatic watch. These older/early Mido automatic movements are not complicated using less parts in their automatic system. The mainspring is a regular automatic one.
Excelente y extraordinaria selección de relojes de muy alto valor sentimental y tal vez económico. Gracias por la elegancia del vídeo. Saludos desde CDMX.
I did as you suggested and found 1 in 25 searches with these hands, I also searched in Rossler but his 50s examples are the same as mine. I have 12 vintage Zenith watches including 2 Pilots. Let us call these hands less usual . I like them and will keep a look out for them to add to my collection. All the best, keep the interesting content coming.
Wow. 1 in 25. 😅 Maybe location difference can affect Google search? But that’s right, Pilot model usually are with dauphine type or syringe type hands. But the ones on this example are definitely correct, and it’s important that it belongs to a Zenith Pilot and not some other Zenith models from what I know. Unfortunately, I do not have the record showing when in the 1950s did Zenith introduced these hands. :(
I saw 18k JLC 1970s manual winding watches in Chrono24 and feels tempted, will it be a good buy for the long run since I am a keeper? Thanks and love the video.
Before you buy any watch, make sure you like it first. Then do some research to make sure everything is correct and original on the watch. A redial and a factory original dial can have a 90% price difference. Case polished can affect the value a lot as well depending on how well it is polished. This is something that you can ask on the Omega forums for advice by posting a picture of the watch. I'm sure someone there can assist you with that. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I can only assist with questions related to the product that I have for sale on my site.
Love the Movado and Cyma.U need a link to ur shop so we can easily pop in and see the purchase price. By the way do u put other straps/bracelets on rather than leather?
The link to my website is in the description box. But if you’re looking to purchase other brands like the ones from this video, you’ll need to visit my other site at www.splendidfinetimepieces.com These 9 pieces will eventually hit the site.
Thank you for the comment. First head over to my main website: www.omegaenthusiastltd.com Subscribe to the website to receive future website update notification email. When I list this piece on my other site, you’ll be notified and there will be a link in that email directing to the other site.
Great video. Eterna watches are far from "underrated" - ask any serious watch enthusiast/collector. Could you do a review of watches 1960s onwards...and include as many Seiko's as you can as these represent the best value watch at almost any price point.
thanks for the video. I would like to ask, could you give me information about the AROMA brand? i have a watch and would like to know its background.. thank you
One radium watch on the wrist is not going to cause any harm. But, if you are a watchmaker, then best to use good ventilation when working on one. Do not break the dust and inhale the radium dust. If you use a rodico to clean the dial, make sure to throw away the rodico when you're done using it. When the radium is sealed inside a watch, a little amount of radon gets released. I conducted a test in a small room of about 100 sq/ft; inside, I have 100 watches with radium luminous paste on their dial+hands. The radium reading is very high on my Geiger reader, so for a watchmaker to open them all up would be dangerous. However, since these are complete watches, the radon reading average for the week on my Radon detector is below the warning level. That means if you own one watch with radium, it's not going to hurt the hairs on your wrist when you wear it. That said, this is my experience and thought for you. Whether you decide to own one is totally up to you.
You mean the cleaning solution that I use to clean the movement? You’ll need a cleaning machine first. First station you need to use L&R ultrasonic cleaning solution. Second and third stations you use L&R rinsing solution. Last station is spin and dry.
Thank you so much for subscribing. Honestly, when it comes to vintage Omega I can point out many 36mm models. But for other brands I am unfamiliar with most of their models number. So my recommendation is first to look at the condition and quality of the movement before buying it.
Hi, I do, these 9 pieces will eventually hit my site in the near future. I run two sites, my main site selling mainly vintage Omega is www.omegaenthusiastltd.com and my other site which sells other brand names is www.splendidfinetimepieces.com
Nobody has ever recommended an old watch to buy, as only ever seen them, then buy them from the 50’s to 70’s, only person I know with a watch owns a £15 grand Rolex.
Oh, believe me, the vintage watch hobby is vast. Countless people own more than one vintage timepiece as well. 😀 But, it is not common to bump into someone in the street and see a vintage watch on his wrist or even a new one on his wrist. Maybe a smartphone. haha
@@TimelessHistoryChannel I have a good interesting growing collection, hadn’t any of the watch names featured in this film, can’t remember having an Omega in the 1970’s or not, so many watch brands around, names I hadn’t heard of, got a Donada today, brand began in 1955, companies no longer with us.
Why not? There are many great Longines tanks out there. Just make sure the condition is great when you buy a watch regardless of the brand. And once you have it serviced it will run great like a charm

They are all good if you ask me , the Universal Polerouter is on the list of many watch collectors , especially the versions with a micro Rotor .
It seems that vintage watches while smaller also had longer lugs giving the watches a more graceful, refined presence. I’m a fan.
That's absolutely correct!
Seiko also has a wide selection of vintage time pieces with solid movements, they can be found in great condition too at very reasonable prices.
No doubt about it. These are just 9 of many brands out there. I do prefer to create a video with the actual watch on hand.

I love the ETERNA! How amazing is the movement condition on your piece 🤯🤯
Thank you!
Zenith’s, Eterna Matic and Cyma’s from the 50 and 60’s are my favourite vintage watches with excellent movements !
Can't go wrong with those three brands :-D
I like the Eternamatic best, but the Universal Geneve is also great. Fantastic condition on these old watches:-)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts
The UG Polerouter is the star of the show for me. Those beautiful twisted lugs......my lawd. 😍
I think we both have the same taste !
ALL of those watches are exceptional.
I like vintage watches like you. My favourite watch is Omega cal. 613 with a black dial and a red second hand. From your colletion I choose Aquastar and Mido. Thank you for your review.
*The Zenith is beautiful.*

Many thanks for the comment. Eterna does make some great watches.
I'm partial towards the Polerouter. I have a UG watch that was my father-in-law's made for the US market in 1960.
Nice!
Would love to send you a picture.
Sure. Don’t mind taking a look at it. Website link in the description section
lovely pieces, all of them. Thanks for showing them to us.
That Mido watch was beautiful. I wish it was just a tad bit thinner but still amazing the best.
Superb collection! Very tasteful dimensions, that's cool - I really dislike the trend of big timepieces, so your picks are a nice exception.
Thank you! I enjoy posting watches between 30-36mm in diameter. 🙂
Oh, if only we could return to the 33 to 36mm cased watches !
They definitely got it right in the 1940s to mid '60s.
Or am I the only person fed up with today's overly large offerings ?
You're the only person upset. That I can assure you.
I appreciate all your content Sao! The best on RUclips for the vintage watches community 🙏🏼
Glad you enjoy it! And thank you so much for the comment, Ray!
Great video. I liked the Bulova and the Hamilton, I think they are the most beautiful. However, all of them are stunning. I love the old faithfull watches. The wheels moving and the tic-toc of the pallet fork is mezmorizing. Thanks for the awesome video. Keep them coming. :0)

Great video. Loved all the watches but the Zenith is my favorite.
Excellent video, lv the variety ... My favorite Cyma
Cyma is definitely an interesting piece
The Polerouter is my favorite also it was design by Gerald Genta
absolutely!
Very nice watches, what surprised me is the quite NOS condition of main of them!!! Congrats
Many thanks my friend.

the collection is awesome af! think i have some common taste in vintage with yours, thats a good for me lol. maybe just zenith one a little so-so.
You will definitely enjoy this channel then. :-)
Gorgeous watches especially the Cyma, Mido and Zenith.
Thank you!
My pleasure.
Universal Geneve Polerouter, Zenith Pilot, Eterna Matic, Cyma.....
excellent collection, great taste in watches, regards, Geoff from Merimbula Australia
Note: "Geneve" is Geneva, and is not a name but indicates that the watch is Swiss made.
Thank you for the note. I am sure many watch enthusiasts also know about this. But it’s good that you pointed that out for those who are new to the hobby. I have a playlist with imported Omega models that are not fully Swiss Made.
Great video. Love the Polerouter but it is just so very hard to find a good one.
Thank you! And indeed very difficult to find a nice example nowadays
Great video, i like the Zenith. Many thanks for sharing
Many thanks for commenting! The Zenith is super attractive!

You’re more than welcome
Great timepieces
Unusual hands for a Zenith Pilot of that age.
Well, now you learn something new. :)
Should google up 1950s Zenith Pilot and you’ll find many examples with these hands.
Could you tell me if DIEHL 1967 good condition watch is worth 25 GBP / 30 USD ?
Love the Movado and Cyma.U need a link to ur shop so we can easily pop in and see the purchase price.
By the way do u put other straps/bracelets on rather than leather?
The link to my website is in the description box. But if you’re looking to purchase other brands like the ones from this video, you’ll need to visit my other site at www.splendidfinetimepieces.com
These 9 pieces will eventually hit the site.
how would you compare the zenith quality with a similar IWC?
Quality wise, they are equally as great. But design/appearance wise, IWC movements are much more attractive.
Have Coach watch...moon phase date time calendar... Wants to sell !!
Beautiful pieces. Thanks for sharing. Is there a way I can buy the 1st one, the movado small seconds. I would love to buy it
Thank you for the comment.
First head over to my main website: www.omegaenthusiastltd.com
Subscribe to the website to receive future website update notification email. When I list this piece on my other site, you’ll be notified and there will be a link in that email directing to the other site.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel thank you so much for the link because because I noticed it's not listed on your website. I can't wait for it to be listed 😂
Anytime! This is the Chronometre version. So a much rarer example fyi.
Great video. Eterna watches are far from "underrated" - ask any serious watch enthusiast/collector. Could you do a review of watches 1960s onwards...and include as many Seiko's as you can as these represent the best value watch at almost any price point.
Great suggestion!
Hi what’s the magazine (?) at the beginning of the video please ?

Is the omega 269 calibre any good?
It's consider as a Tank movement. Can withstand almost anything.

Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the Aroma brand. :-(
@@TimelessHistoryChannel thank you

Radium burns - does that mean it's risky to wear such a timepiece? Thanks for the video.
Aquastar! 😬
On what webshop are you selling non-Omega, non-Rolex, non-Longines watches?
When you visit my main site. On the homepage, select “other brands”
@@TimelessHistoryChannel 🙏
All I can say Bro is THIS VIDEO IS PURE 🔥🔥🙌🙌🦾🦾😎😎!!!
wow, thank you so much! 😀
Is the Aquastar re-lumed?
No it’s not. Tritium green luminous paste
That Cyma is hot.
what is the name of the engine cleaning fluid?
You mean the cleaning solution that I use to clean the movement? You’ll need a cleaning machine first. First station you need to use L&R ultrasonic cleaning solution. Second and third stations you use L&R rinsing solution. Last station is spin and dry.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel where can i buy the machine, can a digital cleaning machine make watch cases, case cleaning heaters
Awesome choices! New subscriber. What 36+mm vintage watches would you recommend?
Thank you so much for subscribing. Honestly, when it comes to vintage Omega I can point out many 36mm models. But for other brands I am unfamiliar with most of their models number. So my recommendation is first to look at the condition and quality of the movement before buying it.
My question is: who’s going to repair a vintage watch if it is needing replacement parts?
Pretty much every watch repair shops.
Do you sell any off your watches? Very interested to buy
Hi, I do, these 9 pieces will eventually hit my site in the near future. I run two sites, my main site selling mainly vintage Omega is www.omegaenthusiastltd.com and my other site which sells other brand names is
www.splendidfinetimepieces.com
@@TimelessHistoryChannelCan’t say I’ve ever seen an old watch on anyone’s arm before.
My poor observation, almost all timepiece without date day😊
Not including a Conny or a Speedmaster in here is absolute heresy.
You can fine 20+ videos on vintage Constellation if you visit the channel’s playlist. Watch my 321 video to see a nice Speedmaster.
Do you sell watches ?
Yes I do. www.omegaenthusiastltd.com and www.splendidfinetimepieces.com
First
Just dont collect Longines tanks.
Why not? There are many great Longines tanks out there. Just make sure the condition is great when you buy a watch regardless of the brand. And once you have it serviced it will run great like a charm
The truth is that I collect them and just wanted to dissuade others so I can have them all to myself.
That Movado is a beauty but the case seems to be a little to thick .
