How can anybody look at their horse and let them suffer like that it is beyond me and unconscionable. God bless you for doing what was needed for her and giving her dignity in her last breaths of life. 💕🐎🙏💔🌈
It's such a sad video because we are all bearing witness to the suffering of these horses, yet there is hope as their sad stories can become the catalyst for change. Thank you for naming each horse, by this you recognize each horse. Dr. Lydia and team, you are all stars! Your professionalism, care, educational discussions and kindness are appreciated. Be kind to yourselves. ❤
That poor horse walk like me, i have severe arthritis for 22 years, i know that feeling. Here in Sweden we have to wait long time for operations. Thanks for saving thoose horses in any way and form.
I'm glad you made the right decision. While it's hard to let them go, sometimes, it's the right thing to do. You can't save every animal, and while that can be hard to accept, at least you gave them the last act of kindness.
I am glad to see Horse Plus vets and the crew working through the tough decisions they have to make. The critical ones should have been helped by their owners! Thank you all for doing the right thing! At least these sad ones get to feel some comfort and kindness before they go to their eternal resting place.
Thank you, vets. This is gut wrenching work when we choose to lay them to rest. On my property I have what I call my “Corner of Love”. It’s the place severely debilitated horses are laid to rest, always done with love. I’m glad I have this place for them, many tears have been shed here. My heart goes out to vets and all volunteers who work with these horses. Not all of them can be restored to health, and each one you folks handle appear to be loved tenderly. Thank you.
I really appreciate seeing this type of video that explains the medical aspects of these horses’ care. You guys are doing amazing work! I hope you know how truly appreciated you are ❤
My heart goes out to Adele and horses alike! You and your team at Horse Plus are so amazing and I couldn’t agree with what you all are doing …you are there and know what these beauties need first hand Bless you all! I know some decisions do not come easily but are necessary! 💕
Thank you for taking such loving care of Adele and letting her go to rest. Adele was so sweet and kind and she knew love in her final hours. Kim in New Zealand
Poor Adele! We can only imagine how long she's been limping along, having to live with that amount of pain. On a slightly better note, listening to Dr. Lydia's explanation of Adele's problems gave me some new insight into an injury of my own! A torn rotator cuff I had surgically repaired about 20 years ago has been flaring up recently, and an x-ray showed osteophytes on the head of the humerus. I was told they wouldn't be causing pain, but I disagreed. Now I know I was right! Thanks to Dr. Lydia for not only caring for the horses at the shelter, but also for giving some by-the-way help to a human.
Five Elements Acupunture is remarkable as is Jin Shin Jyutsu (advanced energy, much more advanced than Reike). Symbolically, injuries/illnesses represent something.... If you go the route of Five Elements Acupuncture, an acupunturist who explains correlating elements/symbolism would be great. Lots online, too....
Really brings to home the fact as a horse owner to make your decisions at home! Don’t try to make some money by selling him/her to dealers, I’m so sad for this beautiful mare that she had to suffer being auctioned and transported, the pain must have been so horrendous, love the way your explaining her condition! Thank you
I love this format. Following each of these horses is a fantastic way to educate and bring this all to the "every day" person. I've been in rescue also and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. You guys are making a HUGE difference! Keep it up...and more stories please!
I appreciate that this is one of the hardest things to do, and am so glad that these animals have you guys to love on them and end their suffering. The importance of these videos is huge, not only for advocacy but also education and transparancy. What happened a couple of years ago can't happen if you're sharing these stories.
I saw this episode in full lengh and I can´t imagine, how heavy your hearts must be, every time you have no other choice, but you made the right desition! At her last moment you cared for her and loved her!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping Adele and her fellow horses in the best, best way that you could. I know the last act of kindness is never your top choice for these beautiful souls, but it is the kindest thing you can do for those too broken to mend. I know this is difficult for everyone involved at Horse Plus. But you soldier on because you love them enough to do what is most loving for them. Hugs from our little ranch! 💓💔💓❤🔥💖💓
Bless all of you for trying to save them. Bless you for knowing when to give them a peaceful passing. You did the right thing for Adele. She went peacefully in the loving and caring hands of your staff. Probably something she’d not experienced in month due to her poor overall condition.
As someone who used to watch the auctions when u went ..i dont miss seeing the prolonged time it used to take in the process of getting the worst cases home and treated/laok..i like the way its done now as its better for the horses i feel and they dont suffer the extra torture of the auction..so part of me really hopes you never go back
I'm hoping that they can do BOTH. But that will take a lot more people helping and more funds coming in. PLUS I hope all the horse slaughter/care bills pass at the federal level.
Before the last act of kindness thank you for showing these beautiful horses some love and caring. It seems from the horses eyes they know they are at last loved and respected. 😥
Horse Plus Family, I'm so so sorry for the lose of sweet Adele!!! Thank you for always choosing to do the right thing, even when it is the hardest part. No more suffering Adele, I'm so grateful you had love as you entered heaven and free at last 🐎
A beautiful horse that once was loved. How, HOW can people do this to the animals they once loved. May you run free now that you walked over the Rainbowbridge, beautiful horse. Bless you HPHS for all the work you do.
Unfortunately it would be bone spurs in is humans from what i am understanding, and ues doctor Lydia you are right arthritis is very painful as a human who has rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. There are some days that you wish someone could give you the last act of kindness so you wouldn't have to deal with the pain day after day
Dr Lydia I know it has to be heart breaking I cry watching it on my phone but you are so gentle and kind to these horses and you have such a kind soothing manner please dwell on the ones you've helped achieve a good life please don't get discouraged they need yo thank you
This poor girl. How can anybody whatch this happening to a poor animal. Thank goodness she is no longer in pain. ❤ thank you for helping her and so many others.
The generosity of spirit and compassion exemplified by Adele and Horse Plus is extraordinary. Adele had a very quiet, calm demeanor and was receptive to affection and compassion. This is a win-win story really. Adele crossed-over quickly, as animals do, and perhaps is watching over other horses at various auctions as well as on trailers heading to Horse Plus, comforting them along the way....
My horse will be 29 this year, and I would NEVER in my life EVER send him away. I am discriminated against for finding him agistment or a place to house him, I lie about his age now. He could pass as a 15 year old (though he's grey out) but he's my bestfriend. I had his mother and I would never let him go! Found out I may be able to solve housing issues for both of us, so I'm looking forward to having him at my backdoor soon
Bless you all for being there to help all of the horses, even those that need “Last Act of Kindness”, it is a much better passing then what they would have faced without your intervention! I love all of the Medical explanation it is so very interesting!
Sweet Adele! Fortunately she is now on greener pastures.... Dr. Lydia speaking at the end about the oath she took as a vet has touched me a lot. My deep gratitude to everyone involved!
Dr. Lydia, you are such a a great compassionate Vet. Poor Adele should have been taken care of or give the last act of kindness months ago. It's repulsive to me to see horses being dropped off in this condition, as I know it is for you and Dr. Gina. At the same time, it has to give you some satisfaction knowing you saved the horse from being passed around and eventually taking that long trip to Mexico. I doubt she would have made it and gone down in the trailer. Thanks for all you do for getting pain meds into these horses right away. It has to feel like peace to them. Finally.
I'm so sorry you're faced with so many hard decisions. You're doing what the owner should have done long before they get to this stage. I see some of those grey faces, and I see my 36 year old. I couldn't imagine sending him away at the end of his life. There is nobody out there who will love and care for him the way I do. Thank you for being the soft place for these poor babies to land. Even if they only know kindness for a short time, it's the last thing they feel. So thank you for all you do for them.
What an amazing horse Adele was. In so much pain yet so gentle. Thank God she isn't in pain anymore and that she was able to spend her last bit of time pn Earth with humans that cared how she felt.
The reality is we got a horse from Auction on Friday and today she's no longer suffering. Bad owners, she was in really bad pain. The vet suggested euthanasia and we agreed. RIP Nola!!
Having both total hip replacements and left knee in the last 5 yrs. I know how painful bone on bone is! Poor Adele! Her name is so fitting for such a sweet mare. Almost like she knew you would do the right thing for her.
The whole auction system is so pathetic, she should’ve been withdrawn long before. Luckily in all her suffering she landed with you, so she could leave in dignity. Thanks a lot for the clear explanation, really helpful to dispel any doubts. And thanks for giving the horses that have to cross the bridge a name! I don’t know how you can stand all that, you all have lots and lots of inner strength.
Oh my, that a living creature goes through such agony is making me nauseous and disgusted at the same time......tears come unbidden. The seventh level of HELL is too good for those who watched this horse in need and did nothing. Dear Vets, you are angels of mercy.
Dr Lydia is incredibly good at explaining medical conditions. I've just had a total knee replacement after years of severe pain. The operation took twice as long as normal because of what the surgeon said was many large oseteophytes that had to be removed but I was unable to understand his explanation of these things. Some of them were so large they could be seen poking out against my skin. Now I know, and can attest to the severe restriction of movement and debilitating pain. The operation was successful, the relief enormous and my general health so much better. This poor horse. At least I was able to sit and take the pressure off the joint.
Bless you guys. It is a tough task you have taken on, getting even harder when the legal system trying to fight you. Know that we are many on your side, fighting for animal rights, the right for animal to be treated with love, tender and rightful care. Animals are not disposable, they have given their life for you. When sick and injured, they deserve the right and morally right to be handled with respect and dignity. Search your heart, and do right by a loved animal, no matter the state it's in.
As a vet tech for small animals we do see cases where the owners hold on to their pets because they are not ready yet. In the veterinary world we do have the means to end suffering. Also many owners say they just want them to die at home, unfortunately that is not very common unless it is due to long suffering. I love working at a vet clinic but it can be hard at times.
She was such a pretty horse but her body was failing. Poor girl. R I P Adele. You were very brave but left to the wayside in falling through the cracks of the auctions and what the worst can happen. She had love and care at the end of it, you gave her peace and no more pain and suffering. 🩷 Run with the wind at your back 🩷
She must have been suffering for so long. Rest in peace Adele! Tears and sadness for her end of life but at least she won't be suffering any more. Thanks for what you do,
My cat was diagnosed with a heart condition last november. Together with my vet we made the decision that we would choose quality over quantity. We knew he had FIV that was already causing wounds not to heal anymore. We knew giving him the dose of meds he needed would put his kidneys under a lot of pressure. We knew that either his heart would get worse and being on the maximum dose of all three meds from January on we had no wiggle room with meds for that case or that his kidneys would give up at one point from the amount of meds we put into him. We gave him 4 months with varying quality of life ranging from barely ok to really good. When this cat that had an appetite like a labrador retriever stopped eating I knew it was time. We did not run any bloodwork on him as it would not have changed the decision but the vet highly suspects multiple organ failure. We chose to euthanise him on April 8th this year. He was somewhere between 10 and 12 years, had lived most of his life as a barn cat straying around. He was clever for three cats. Our time together was very short but we appreciated each other a lot. I still miss him very much. His spot will be left open until I am ready for a new cat. Dragging things out for some more days would not have been helpful for him
It's so hard to let them go, even when you know it's the right thing to do. I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs from a stranger who's been through it many times. 💔
Had a pitbull/mix who, after getting a 2nd opinion from another vet, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Went the med route also. 1st vet told me: "He's old(he was only 9 yrs old!!). His muscles along his spine will start "drooping" which will make his abdomen look swollen". No bloodwork, no ex-rays nothing. Just: "he's old"😡 As your experience with your barn cat, I asked the vet of how could I tell when it's time? He said I would know. Well, I DID know when it was time. This dog was a Milk-Bone dog and nothing got him excited as those bones. The day he refused them I knew. Miss that dog. As the saying goes: One doesn't realize they had a good dog until he's gone.😢
Shame on owners who send their old broken and sick horses to auction and shame on the auction houses who let them. Makes me even more disgusted to know these horses wouldn’t even make it to HPHS without the offer of money. All along the way, money has changed hands while this horse suffered. This took a long time to get this bad; it’s just heartbreaking. Thankfully, she found her way to HPHS where her suffering was put to an end. 😥 I pray everyday the laws in the US change to protect equines and prosecute all abusers. 🙏
God Bless you for doing what Adele needed 🙏❤️ which was peace and freedom from her pain. 😢
How can anybody look at their horse and let them suffer like that it is beyond me and unconscionable. God bless you for doing what was needed for her and giving her dignity in her last breaths of life. 💕🐎🙏💔🌈
Poor horse, still she was so trusting and gentle …
Thank you for doing the right thing for all the good that you do for the right reasons.
Thank You Dr. Lydia, you are an angel. RIP Adele.😢
❤❤I'm glad Adele was surrounded by loving people at her end. It's the best any horse or person could hope for. God bless your goid works HP.❤❤
Crippled and starving. And still a kind horse.
Thank you ,Dr Lydia for explaining Adele's medical issues for us non- horse owners.
Heartbreaking 💔 to see Adele in that devastating condition. She must have gone through so much pain😢
Thank you for the last act of kindness ❤ 🐴... She is free 🐎🕊️
Love for Adele as pure as the driven snow has been shown here. Bless you Horse Plus.

Thank you for giving Adele the last act of kindness.
Poor darling off to a better kind place no cruelty
Sweet Adele, suffering for so long. Thank y’all for helping her cross over.
You’re all doing a great job👏
I’m learning so much from Dr. Lydia’s medical explanations, thanks🙏
Rest in peace Adele 💔
I'm glad you made the right decision. While it's hard to let them go, sometimes, it's the right thing to do. You can't save every animal, and while that can be hard to accept, at least you gave them the last act of kindness.

It's so mind blowing to think there are people out there that are so heartless they would load this old girl and send her to auction
Especially in her condition
@@francineherron1940 And no telling how many auctions she's been through in her condition.
@@eleephant9726 UNFORGIVEABLE. So disappointed in mankind.
The greed of some human beings is sickening.
Thank God for you guys and what you do. Adele was shown so much love at the end and that is what counts x
New subscriber. I can't stop crying. Dr Lydia's compassion is truly a blessing for these poor babies.
Thanks you for the support!
Thank you to the Vets for making the hard but right call for Adele.

@@HughLlewellyn Thanks for your kind words and your hug. I had to let his buddy go only 7 months prior. A hard year is behind me.
@@Anjel06101992 my ❤ is with you. Thanks for sharing your story.
You can clearly see a large scar right where the joint is, probably the reason why, she’s been through a lot of suffering. Poor girl.
I pray everyday the laws in the US change to protect equines and prosecute all abusers. 🙏
