My heart clenched when I saw the mare with the cut tail come off the trailer. I know what that cut tail means. It broke my heart. Hearing later that she's colicking and in pain, and it's likely the person who cut the tail as a keepsake has no idea she was left suffering and dumped into the slaughter pipeline just wrecked me. I'm so angry at whoever betrayed the person who loved this mare and allowed her to go through such pain for a few damn bucks. How awful. 😢

If I paid to have my animal put to sleep and I found out they sold them instead, I would explode! That is why an animal should never be left alone during the last act of kindness, to make sure it done right and to keep them as clam as you possibly can. Always, ALWAYS for extra sedation before the final needle. You will be so glad you did as this way they just relax and drift off and not fight and look at you like how could you hurt me like this when all I did all my life was love you. It happened to me and it still hurts and upsets me, even though I took the vets word for it that he would not fight, but simply go to sleep. Ever since then I pay to the point where they are either sleeping or so drugged up they don't know pain of any kind.

Have you priced a vet in the real world lately?

    • @AnniePaige-iq5qp
      @AnniePaige-iq5qp 7 дней назад

@@ellenl.5581forgive me if I’m wrong, but are you implying that these horses being sent to their unspeakable deaths is understandable because of the veterinary costs the previous owner could incur from arranging for a humane euthanasia? The cost of a euthanasia is entirely irrelevant, here. It shouldn’t even be a factor. Sending your sick, broken, innocent, unsuspecting, loyal horse to slaughter is a most cruel and profound betrayal.
One should not get a horse if they cannot do right by the horse- if they cannot do, what I would consider to be, the bare minimum. How much is it worth to leave this earth in a way that doesn’t involve getting bashed in the head with a bolt gun, sliced open while alive, hung upside down, and tortured, until you die? I’d say it’s worth a heck of a lot more than whatever the vet costs, that’s for sure.
Again, if that’s not what you meant- and if I just totally overreacted, going so far as to write a short, essay-like response, in the comments section of a RUclips video- then, do consider accepting my apologies, in advance (and seeking comfort in my embarrassment).

Thank you for all you’re doing for these beautiful horses. This intake was hard, it was soul destroying to see the horse that was meant to go to a vet. Either they couldn’t afford for him to be euthanised or someone tried to make money out of the situation. If that was my horse and I saw them turn up at a rescue instead of being put to sleep, I’d be devastated. If the vet was involved in sending him to auction, shame on you! I know we shouldn’t speculate but it’s very hard not to in this situation. I’m just glad he’s with you and will receive appropriate care.
My love to all of you having to manage these highly emotional situations. It’s hard enough watching let alone being there.

Excellent vet and staff, she addresses their treatment immediately and a plan for each of them & that is so good when these horses are in pain, she cares so much anyone can tell, Thank you for giving alot of them the benefit of a decent life, this is amazing these people caring for the horses are clearly a blessing people may discard them but this group saves most of them ,bless them

Thank you for all you do for these angels 😇 the black draft cross I seen this with a mini a full size horse hurt him! The last act of kindness is sad but the horse doesn't have to suffer anymore! The pain meds and treats your team gives them is probably more then the horse has had in a long time very sad! I always put my horse 1st he was 30 when I had to put him down

How awful for a blind mare to be impregnated or rather in this case, tried. Being put through that is so wrong. Talk about trauma.

Dear Horse Plus. A suggestion. Please get rid of your new dental speculum and get the one without the handle. The one you are using is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. A horse jumps up or forward and that handle comes down on the operator's head and you are seriously injured or killed. Please please heed this advice. A tool is not worth a life. The speculum with the ratchets on the side and without the handle is much safer. At least wear a helmet when operating with your current dental speculum. Regards, Angelique.

Haley amazes me. Did you see her alternate a pat a horse high on it's neck with a snap of her fingers while it was getting a series of vaccines? I'm pretty sure it's a trick to help the horse focus on something other than shots. Brilliant!

So you mean to tell me that some people try to do the right thing by taking their horse to be put down and the person they take them to is like "nope im gonna get the last dime off it"?@ 59:13. Like wouldnt the owner inquire about the body?

It would have been the one they arranged to transport to a vet for a put down who did the wrong thing and decide to not take the horse there but rather just sell it. Most would trust the right thing was done by the transport people if one has arranged for a horse to be taken to a vet to be put down.
Vets can dispose of bodies and most people wont arrange to pick up a horses body being so big but just allow the vet to dispose of it so no their wouldn't be any follow up once one has arranged someone to pick up and take a horse to vet
Twat was going to be done with a horses body is worked out when one books the vet appointment before even arranging the pick up by whatever company is going to do that. The transport people I'd think must have called the vets office saying the horse was no longer coming in and the vet wouldn't think anything of it thinking it was the owners. So some dodgey people must be making money in this way.

I think instead of trying to pull them into that shot maybe the magic grain scoop hold low in front of them would make it much easier for this terrified souls to get in…that very low head metal on top doesn’t help, maybe there can be a change made ? Great Job like always, I hope the stuff will recover soon❤❤❤

Regarding the humpback horse. Sometimes the stallion mates with too small a mare ans there is no room for foal to fully form, hence the unextended spine.

That old grey stallion is beautiful .
Oh that baby will be just gorgeous!!
Our stallion lived to be 37 years old. He retired at a sanctuary down the street where he had all the care an elderly horse needed. We visited him often. We saw him every day when we would drive by stop and say hello & bring treats . He had some health issues that cost 1000s of dollars to correct. He got better & ran that beautiful sanctuary. My mother couldn't afford the ongoing veterinary care he required. But surrendering him to a beautiful full spectrum care facility / sanctuary, sure honoured him much more dignity, respect & comfort , than the brutal journey down the slaughterhouse pipeline.
