Make Your Fitness Journey FUN

  • Here's a controversial statement:
Your fitness journey can be fun and easy.
Here's an even more controversial one:
    It should be.
Our fitness level just describes our ability to do something.
In the case of physical fitness, it's often defined as our ability to move heavy objects, react quickly, and work for long times.
That's great if you like that kind of thing (I mean... I do), but not everyone does.
Instead of forcing "motivation" to make your body fit for something you don't like, why not choose something you enjoy and center your fitness program around that?
You may dread the idea of using the elliptical machine for hours and hours, but you might enjoy the idea of playing squash with your friends.
    The process is simple:
1.) Find a passion or hobby that you like, PREFERABLY something somewhat physical.
2.) Hone your skills at that passion.
    That's it.
I know it doesn't sound like a fitness program at all. It doesn't directly cultivate physical fitness.
    Instead, it cultivates gumption.
It breeds determination to do the thing you love. You'll naturally want to get better at your craft. Lean into this energy.
For example, you may start playing squash and discover you need to be faster and stronger to improve.
THEN, working out has immediately observable effects. As you get better at your pushups and pullups, your squash game will improve. You won't have to wait months to see if you lose "belly fat" and always be looking in the mirror for incremental changes.
This way is a lot more fun.
Even if what you love is not physical at all, this can work.
Let's say all you want to do watch anime.
Instead of just watching it, write articles, make videos, and join clubs for it. Tell everyone about your theories, favorite parts, and random factoids.
This is not physical in the slightest, but your passion will breed motivation and life.
It'll give you a reason to get out of bed and move because you're doing what you love.
This inherently builds energy. You'd be amazed how much more mental energy you have when your entire life isn't a chore and you liven it up with passion.
THEN, if you choose to explore physical fitness, it'll be much easier to stick to a routine because you have more energy to expend.
    Anyone can do this.
Passion and creation is a catalyst for life and ambition.
Let me know how it works for you.

I never liked running or jumping rope or doing crunches, but the moment it came to any ball sports whether it was soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball etc. i could go for hours and I'd feel this amazing rush whenever i was on the court. and this passion and desire to do the best i can on court pushed me to explore ways to strengthen my calves and how to cultivate explosive speed and power, which opened up a whole new world of working out for me, bc for once, i wasn't working out to look a certain way, i was doing it to get better and better at what I'm passionate about and enjoy it even more. so yes, getting fit can AND should be fun. if you don't know where to start, pick an activity you like, even if it's just bouncing a ball alone on a court and go from there, you'll find tons of reasons to move around and feel tons better both physically and mentally 🥰 and even if it's not physical, just picking something you like and being passionate about is an amazing driving force for life

    • @ptolemaios1590
      @ptolemaios1590 3 года назад

@@yesicalicht4882 but at it's root, body positivity is about being comfortable in your own skin and being self accepting. That should not be looked down on. Also some people have medical conditions making it extremely hard to lose weight as well. Others might now have access to healthier food or time to do proper meal prep. If you want to blame something for obesity, blame that horrible people who price things out to where most healthy food costs significantly more than unhealthy food.
In most cases more time and energy goes into producing bad food, it's far more processed. All fast food is unhealthy, why does that need to be? Why are there no healthy fast food places for people who fall into the trap of having no time or money for making legitimate meals? This comes down more to structure than individuals people's fault, imo. I agree that being super overweight isnt healthy. Being a little chubby is probably not a big deal, but neither should be outright shunned because we don't know their situationd

I love jumping rope, but I can’t do it every day because I need to put weight(and wen I say need I do mean need, I can die otherwise), but in a day I don’t do it I can’t produce other things properly, and I can’t do other exercises properly in the last months because of an injury.

I love lifting heavy things. People aleays talk about pushups and my answer will always remain the same:
"I suck at pushups, but I'm good at lifting heavy things"
Growing up with a dad that lifted really heavy weights and had pretty big muscles, it's only natural that I'd do the same thing, though I don't want that much muscle. I still wanna be able to do a guyver kick comfortably.

As a member of marching band, what are some great exercises to be able to march easier. I march tenors and feel my lower back hurt after a while. What are some exercises to increase these muscles, and others involved with marching on a drum line?
This is a profile photo btw
