Make Your Fitness Journey FUN

- Here's a controversial statement:
Your fitness journey can be fun and easy.
Here's an even more controversial one:
It should be.
Our fitness level just describes our ability to do something.
In the case of physical fitness, it's often defined as our ability to move heavy objects, react quickly, and work for long times.
That's great if you like that kind of thing (I mean... I do), but not everyone does.
Instead of forcing "motivation" to make your body fit for something you don't like, why not choose something you enjoy and center your fitness program around that?
You may dread the idea of using the elliptical machine for hours and hours, but you might enjoy the idea of playing squash with your friends.
The process is simple:
1.) Find a passion or hobby that you like, PREFERABLY something somewhat physical.
2.) Hone your skills at that passion.
That's it.
I know it doesn't sound like a fitness program at all. It doesn't directly cultivate physical fitness.
Instead, it cultivates gumption.
It breeds determination to do the thing you love. You'll naturally want to get better at your craft. Lean into this energy.
For example, you may start playing squash and discover you need to be faster and stronger to improve.
THEN, working out has immediately observable effects. As you get better at your pushups and pullups, your squash game will improve. You won't have to wait months to see if you lose "belly fat" and always be looking in the mirror for incremental changes.
This way is a lot more fun.
Even if what you love is not physical at all, this can work.
Let's say all you want to do watch anime.
Instead of just watching it, write articles, make videos, and join clubs for it. Tell everyone about your theories, favorite parts, and random factoids.
This is not physical in the slightest, but your passion will breed motivation and life.
It'll give you a reason to get out of bed and move because you're doing what you love.
This inherently builds energy. You'd be amazed how much more mental energy you have when your entire life isn't a chore and you liven it up with passion.
THEN, if you choose to explore physical fitness, it'll be much easier to stick to a routine because you have more energy to expend.
Anyone can do this.
Passion and creation is a catalyst for life and ambition.
Let me know how it works for you.

I work out so I can be the main character in my own anime😤😤🍚🥢
That's a pretty awesome reason.
The best thing i ever read
LOL I actually think of this
I'm aiming for that one nerdy side character who's still somehow ripped
Ah yes Machio San
"It's not a bug, it's a feature" that has been one of the most comforting thing I've heard
Haha it comforts me too!
I chuckled 🤭

I read somewhere that women's padded hips protect against broken hips, since women's bones are smaller.
It’s weird to hear someone say that outside of Bethesda games
I should pop this whenever I feel like I'm useless. This channel definitely deserves more views.
I agree, especially this video, very underrated
I wish you luck in a lositive mental attitude friend. It can be really draining so be careful please
‘Getting fat is not a bug, it’s a feature’
Bro - that was such a powerful statement
It's powerful cope
I'm a singer, so I need a strong core for breath support and high energy levels for long performances, plus strength for lifting heavy musical equipment around. Your exercise routine has brought me a fun, relaxed way to work up the strength to be able to build on all of this. Thanks Hampton!!
ME TOO!! I play in a rock band so we always lug amps around. I incorporate more metal style vocals into our music so having a good support is essential! I’m also working on fitness so I can be a better performer. Best of luck to you and your performances!
"if you really like anime, write articles about it, make videos about it" Why, why you singling me out bro?
I actually did write blogs on DBZ once upon a while ✌️😤
@@aryadesai3177 this has inspired me to make a whole book series about my favorite dungeons and dragons character
He’s so zen. Dig everything about this.
Hampton, man, I love you. this content is really changing my life. Most of the time I just hate myself for everything, but watching this kind of videos makes everything a little bit clearer. I'm honestly grateful to have found you!
WW
I really love this guy. Imagine if he is your fitness coach. You will learn tons from him in all aspects of life. Listening to him makes you feel like you wanna live longer.
Most other fitness youtubers would go "if you can't do a pushup yet that's fine" and then the video moves on to more pushups. This guy understands people who are struggling with fitness, truly on another level.
I wanted to start exercising, but I always ended up giving up because most channels do a certain type of routine in order to lose weight and that's not my goal. I don't exercise and i don't have fun doing it, but i do want to be healthy and your channel is motivating me to do it for my goal and not for other people's perception of me. I love you
Love your videos!! They have motivated me to start working out after a while now. I am a big fan of you and your content!!!
Thank you so much Sune! It really means a lot that you like it. Many more videos coming. Feel free to hit me up if I can help!
I wish there was a larger like button. The way things are nowadays in reference to the amount of "advice" out there. Very few have the ability AND platform to articulate the right message. Keep going my friend. My name is Vincent Constantine and I am happy that you are in the world making these videos, i feel they could benefit so many people (in different ways) and that's beautiful. Thank you Hampton.
I like a lot your videos. Your mentality is very good and have help me to not only start experimenting with calisthenics but also see things a lot different. Thank you.
(ps: This was also a very relax and reflective and motivation video)
Thank you so much for watching! I'll make a lot more.
Ever since I've seen his content I've been doing what I love to do. Which is walking/ hiking and doing yoga in nature! I live in Florida so we have really beautiful beaches and springs so I love any outdoor activity.
Damn, that's wholesome! I sadly don't have any beaches or really any real nature nearby, so that's really nice to hear.
I live in AK where it's -40 half the year so staying inside and watching Netflix is very appealing! I've become quite addicted to your videos because nothing has seemed as motivational as you are! Thank you so much just for doing what you do!
This video is so important. I have to face the truth that being happy and satisfied about one (whole) self is way better and healthier than being happy just at the image reflected in the mirror. Now I'm trying to learn to work out when and if I feel like it, change my routine accordingly to my mood and value fun over "i must do this" mind set. Thank you for your words ♡
I like chopping woods but I live in an apartment :(
Doors are made out of wood. Go nuts.
@@MokaPot36804 Man was only making peepholes to see his beloved family, didn't mean any harm, true story.
Really cool video and a positive message! I also find that fun makes me stick to a routine, especially exercising with friends. :) Thanks Hampton, keep up the good work.
Yes! Fun is very important. One hack to being fit is just having fit friends.
Me watching the guy in the back fishing👁👄👁
This is like listening to a sage on the river side giving you words of wisdom, it's relaxing and motivational.
I love his baby step approach to everything. If it’s not just to be healthier, it’s also to be happier from smaller root points. 💚
you are probably the most wholesome person I've ever known. Thank you for your videos, you are great
I love you Hampton, you're a good man
I have said something similar to this. We take children to the playground to have fun, it's also a way for them to say fit and active.
Mate, I wish you all the best. Really like your videos, high and useful quality & your positive attitude makes it enjoyable even more. Thanks.
Got my rings today ! Because I saw your pull-up vid a week ago.I like your mentality overall, such a bright soul.
This video is so great and is just phenomenal life advice. You made a video that explains effective motivation better than any of the numerous seminars i had to sit through in school. Thank you Hampton.
Thank you ! Makes me wanna cry because I finally realise that I spent my life forcing myself, and it is just lying to myself ! I will try to find an activity that I really like ! I like when you say “ what we are cultivating is a zest for life “ ! Thank you Hampton !
words of wisdom right there 💪👌 bro I love your vocabulary it gives me goosebumps in a good way like kicking my motivation up 💪 God bless brother . your the men 👍😎
So my writing.... Your saying I need to share it with people so they can read and enjoy it...😊😊😊😊.. Touched my ❤
Probably the best advice I've ever heard. Thanks!!
Better be chubby and happy than ripped and sad 💓
I swear this channel is so underrated.I love your videos ^_^
"Your body is reflection of your lifestyle"
Everytime I work out, the after effects makes me feel better. Glad I started working out
I train to ready my body in case a zombie apocalypse happens
😂😂
You have such a fresh take on life, career and small subtleties... love you man ❤️❤️❤️
My exams have been postponed like 4 times now over a period of 6 months. That has given me severe anxiety. Working out for me is a way out of that anxiety
HAMTOONNN!!!!! I LOVE YOU PERSPECTIVE OF LIFE AND YOU INSPIRE ME SO MUCH!!! CONGRATS ON 1MIL!!!!
Amazing! Love these relaxing videos
Such a beautiful and important - and unfortunately rare - message. So glad I found you.
Great vid dude. It was very positive and chill. Thanks for the great advice
You are very uplifting. I love that you are doing this for us!!!
First video I've seen from your channel and already love the way you articulate and your ideas. You got a new sub from me and I'll be watching your other videos
I love playing hockey. I love the sport, the teams, the type of people it produces, but it is hard to find hockey on base here, or out in Japan.
Try Aikido in Japan. I practiced for several years. Loved it. Find a good sensei and friendly dojo you feel comfortable in. Good luck.
Thnks Hampton buddy; you're great and motivational ❤️
His vids are so calming, nice and motivational. Anyone else agree?
Thank you so much for the positive message!
Part of the ship, part of the crew
Love your message brother. Thank you
Thank you brother Hampton, that was such a clear explanation. 😊❤
I like hiking and recently started taking dance classes after wanting to learn for a long time. Now I'm getting into calisthenics to support those interests :) gonna need me some stronger hips and legs, for starters
This is chill advice. Thanks for sharing 😊
Wow thanks for this incredibly beautiful and valuable message
You encouraged me a lot
I love this outlook Hampton! - zest for life. So great
I never liked running or jumping rope or doing crunches, but the moment it came to any ball sports whether it was soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball etc. i could go for hours and I'd feel this amazing rush whenever i was on the court. and this passion and desire to do the best i can on court pushed me to explore ways to strengthen my calves and how to cultivate explosive speed and power, which opened up a whole new world of working out for me, bc for once, i wasn't working out to look a certain way, i was doing it to get better and better at what I'm passionate about and enjoy it even more. so yes, getting fit can AND should be fun. if you don't know where to start, pick an activity you like, even if it's just bouncing a ball alone on a court and go from there, you'll find tons of reasons to move around and feel tons better both physically and mentally 🥰 and even if it's not physical, just picking something you like and being passionate about is an amazing driving force for life
Thank you Hampton, I enjoy dancing and i'm building from it, now it is my fitness exercise.
I actually like walking for 3 to 5 miles for exercise. It gets me out of the house and in the sunshine. But, in the winter it sucks. I hate cold weather.
I feel like I should know this. Years back a group of co-workers would go to an intense spin class where the seats were removed. You barely or hardly stop for an hour or more. Whereas another co-worker and I would agree that going out and playing soccer was much more fulfilling. And frankly not nearly as masochistic
I actually understand the idea of using working out to improve something your passionate about I’m gonna go find a passion for something physical now
Such amazing advice, thank you for creating this channel you have truly helped me make my life happier and healthier😀
U don't need to suffer, in order to become fit u need to enjoy whatever physical activity u r interested in...
thank you for making this video ❤️
Really good vid, thx 😊
Thanks Hampton. I can tell you’re going to help me a lot in my fitness journey. This may not be the place to ask, but how do you feel about intermittent fasting?
thanks man this cleared out some questions
Very wise head on such young shoulders. I am 65, so I don't envision myself with the body of a young woman. But I love being able to sit on the floor with young students. I love that I could do an obstacle course/ zipline adventure with my children and granddaughter last summer. I love having the strength and agility to garden, dance and home improvement projects. Motion is Lotion. Aged people need to move. Just find something you enjoy like Hampton says. And you younger people get in the habit now to inspire your friends and family and future children.
thank you for the motivation
Good advice. Thanks.
This is such an awesome positive message and really shows that the stereotype of very physically fit guys putting people down who are overweight just isn't the truth. I've know multiple muscular guys who have encouraged me to work out but never tried to force. Thank you for trying to be such a positive force, I really hope this channel blows up so your message of positivity can expand to new people.
Kinda sad that people try to spread "body positivity" in the sense of being obese it's ok and oh the shame they try to give out to people that are working out.
@@yesicalicht4882 if you don't have kindness and positivity then buzz off. I didn't make that comment for someone to use it as an excuse to bash body positivity
@@ptolemaios1590 Don't get me wrong, body positivity is nice and all because you learn to accept and see realistic views of yourself thus aiming to improve yourself to the better. But I didn't mean that side.
I just got so frustated that people on social media spread misinformation that being morbidly obese is ok and you shouldn't change anything about that. Meanwhile disguising it as "body positivity". There ain't any true kindness in that.
@@yesicalicht4882 but at it's root, body positivity is about being comfortable in your own skin and being self accepting. That should not be looked down on. Also some people have medical conditions making it extremely hard to lose weight as well. Others might now have access to healthier food or time to do proper meal prep. If you want to blame something for obesity, blame that horrible people who price things out to where most healthy food costs significantly more than unhealthy food.
In most cases more time and energy goes into producing bad food, it's far more processed. All fast food is unhealthy, why does that need to be? Why are there no healthy fast food places for people who fall into the trap of having no time or money for making legitimate meals? This comes down more to structure than individuals people's fault, imo. I agree that being super overweight isnt healthy. Being a little chubby is probably not a big deal, but neither should be outright shunned because we don't know their situationd
@@ptolemaios1590 You clearly didn't understand me or maybe you haven't come across the problem yet.
Have a good day.
Oh man, thx to you for the little things you do, that’s son much worth!!
This is a great video, with some excellent advice.
anime is one of the tings that motivates me to work out the most. i wouldnt be playing volleyball if it wasnt for haikyuu XD
very good very practical advice!! thanks man
this is some great words man, very true........good video
as someone who has 0 zest for life the last part hit hard, it really gave me food for thought.
Thank u brother for the video..💕
Children who play all day tend to be fit, healthy and very athletic. If you liked being physically active as a child, chances are you still have that same desire in you now, though everyday stress may make it difficult to access it.
Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if there were adult sized playgrounds ☆0☆
This guy is clearly INFJ. I can sense dominant Ni and auxiliary Fe in all his videos. BTW, thanks for the good videos, Brother. I'm one of those people who fortunately loves physical exertion.
Skyrim reference! Cheers 🍻 🤣♥️🙌🏻
I loved the video, thank you so much Hampton, it made me want to take a dip in that water
"Your body is a representation of your lifestyle".
Truth.
Wonderful video!
I came to this channel looking for a guide to fitness.
Who knew I'd also find a guide to happiness?
Fantastic insight and advice
Wow🔥
Thank you ❤️
super educational video literally what I was just thinking about.
love the baby step approach🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This is such an awesome take on health!
I love jumping rope, but I can’t do it every day because I need to put weight(and wen I say need I do mean need, I can die otherwise), but in a day I don’t do it I can’t produce other things properly, and I can’t do other exercises properly in the last months because of an injury.
I like that mindset :3
I like it too :)
I love lifting heavy things. People aleays talk about pushups and my answer will always remain the same:
"I suck at pushups, but I'm good at lifting heavy things"
Growing up with a dad that lifted really heavy weights and had pretty big muscles, it's only natural that I'd do the same thing, though I don't want that much muscle. I still wanna be able to do a guyver kick comfortably.
the perfect advice
As a member of marching band, what are some great exercises to be able to march easier. I march tenors and feel my lower back hurt after a while. What are some exercises to increase these muscles, and others involved with marching on a drum line?
This is a profile photo btw
Running, core exercises, maybe strengthen your hip flexors, deadlifts..
The camera is constantly moving that's causing headache whilst watching... Love the content
This video is awesomeee
LOL "the body gives us lots of padding" 😂
Zest for life! Reminds me of a Yo-yo Ma quote…
It's a good day for fishing aint it ?
