If your hobby is only affordable at the expense of other’s lives, you should find a different hobby. This excuse really doesn’t fly. “Oh, I know the yarn could be manufactured in one of the genocide camps in China that Temu openly sources from, but it’s the only way I can afford my hobby!” Kind of disgusting.
If you want to shop on temu, do it. You don't owe explanations. I can afford to buy over priced yarn. I choose not to. Stop acting like America is so innocent. If you don't want to buy on temu then don't. Until I get sick from something I bought which I haven't. I will continue to shop on temu. I liked the quality
@@irmagarcia4012 I am not American, I live in Europe and am from Kazakhstan. Also okay, so you just admitted to being okay with people dying for your personal enjoyment, just say you’re a bad person and move on lmaooo
„please understand not everyone is able to shop at other places as it is not financially viable“ is a nonsense statement in this situation. Thrift stores for example sell yarn for cheap. There is no excuse for supporting a company as horrible as Temu.
Considering the ten pound minimum spend to get free shipping, you can very well find yarn elsewhere for cheap, ethics aside. You might not be able to afford fluffy or fuzzy or chubby yarn that everyone else uses but if you value some poorly and cheaply made materials over the literal slavery and exploitation of other people then you shouldn't then you shouldn't even be in that crafting hobby, let alone selling things made from that yarn (like I've seen people do)
Hey, just a heads up for everyone in the comments: look into the company first before buying. Ethics aside, their products have been found to contain dangerous levels of toxic elements, and there's allegations of them harvesting data too (which are likely to be true, how else would they be profiting off of such cheap prices). No hate to this video, I just think it's important that people are aware of these things before buying, since Temu definitely won't tell you.
Do you have any sources regarding the toxic chemicals? Just asking because so much stuff gets imported from China, all over the world, and from my experience it's the same stuff that seems to come from the same manufacturers that also sell to Amazon and other places that people have less problem with. This is all ethics aside, I think buying anything from a third world country thats being mass produced and sold for next to nothing is a major red flag. In saying that, some people are just literally dirt poor and you can hardly fault them for wanting to experience things that people with more wealth get to. I'm rambling and having a conversation with myself, sorry 😂
Thank you for your comment. I honestly hadn't thought about that perspective. I'm feeling kinda guilty now, I have bought alot ... Kinda like going to the dollar store and spending $100. Buckets of useless garbage. Anyway I will use up what I have.
@@CathyBaxter You're in no way to blame! It's companies like this that shouldn't be allowed to operate this way in the first place, they're the ones at fault in all of this. I've also bought from places like Aliexpress in the past, before I knew any better. Everything is so expensive these days, I think it's only normal that we're drawn to the cheaper options!
The first yarn is used for finger crocheting/knitting to make blankets and more items like scarves or some shit but it’s not supposed to be used with a hook ! I hope that helped❤
The thing about Temu is that they share products with Amazon and other “low price stores”…all the same manufacturing joints, just relabelled. You can find very similar products in actual stores. While the practises of companies in Temu are condemnable, they simply do what other stores do, but Temu lets you skip the “middleman”, in a sort of way. As unfortunate as it is, it’s the way this system works :(
Exactly. I shop a lot in Temu for my crafts mostly. What I see and receive is things I could buy in my local stores but double the price. I ain’t got that money. 😂
@Cestyoo same here. I can't always afford the insane prices shops want. So yes, if I can get it for half the price elsewhere, then I will order it from places like temu, shein etc. It means I can still afford to do what I love, and even when I do go to actual stores to find something, they usually don't stock the item I need anyway. Or the mark up price of it is so expensive, that I refuse to pay that kind of money when I know I can get it way cheaper somewhere else.
I strongly disagree! I have bought items from Temu for great prices, searched them up on Amazon, and have found them to be a few dollars MORE than what I paid on Temu!
That you do much for swatching the yarns, rather than just talking about them! That is super helpful. I also bought the one with the little Pom poms but haven’t used it yet. I’m glad you think it’s great and I now look forward to making something with it.
When buying items fron anywhere on the internet one must remember 3 things 1. Buyer beware 2. You get what you pay for 3. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I have not had any issues with items I have ordered, but have carefully researched them against places here in US such as Walmart, craft stores, outlet stores, and brand websites.
I’ve seen the loopy yarn used to finger knit. Don’t know of any other way to use it. Love chenille yarn and that would be great for making a soft top or cardigan or small toys and loveys! Don’t see chenille in such a small weight in the US.
Lion Brand has a chenille yarn that was a 4 weight size. It's only down to one color though, so not sure if they're going to replace it with something similar or let it go.
We have a brand in the UK called Sirdar that do a DK Chenille which is lovely to work with its probably on par in price. The Temu yarn is a good weight I have to admit I like a DK yarn over a chunky 😊
As someone who has used loop yarn in the past, you don't need a hook to use it. You simply loop each loop through the next to create a beautiful, knitted look. The only tools you need truly are your fingers and scissors.
Thank you for this video, I did look at yarn on temu but I found them expensive compared to what I can get in the U.K. plus they only seemed to do 50g balls of dk which is what i usually work with, so when working it all out it was more expensive. I never looked at the unusual yarns so I may do that after watching this 😁
You're very welcome 😊 I agree the prices aren't any better it's the unusual yarns that I love mainly the pom pom yarn lol I'll be sticking with my UK companies 😊
I've only purchased glow-in-the-dark yarn on Temu but I spoiled myself a bit for the glow-in-the-dark factor of it all and I was very happy with it! Temu was the cheapest for amount I could find her in the US, plus free shipping... I hate online shopping because of the added shipping price tags. I don't get to spend much money on myself so, I don't buy yarn too often. When I do it's usually only to make gifts and for my mother-in-law to sell at her church's craft fairs.
Thanks for this video. Really interesting look at some unusual/different yarns. To me, it certainly looks like being a site to look at. But I also think comparing prices with other outlets will be worth doing, especially when planning a large project. The extra big yarn, although interesting, seems a bit gimmicky to me - but I’m happy to be contradicted.
The extra big yarn certainly can be gimicky for sure. I think a lot of people use it for things like cat and dog beds, baskets, sturdier items which I can see it working for however I think you'd need more than one ball lol. Love the different yarns I wish there was more than just colour variety here in the UK but then have no idea where the temu yarns actually come from 🤷♀️ it's great for originality but definitely not sustainable for larger projects in my opinion
Ooooh, I'm much excite!! I am going to get me an armful of #3... it would be perfect for a cake tissue box cover and for cupcake plushies & beanies I make often!!! Thankyou for sharing these with us! Edit: I also want to get some of that light weight chenille because I love the way that thick stuff feels on my slipper socks & boots, and chunky hoodies & scarves... BUT the thinner kind would feel so nice for tighter stitch things like lounge socks and winter clothing, (oooh I'm thinking"ugly" holiday sweaters now) I didn't know that existed either, so thank you again!!!
I bought 2 different types of chenille yarn from Ice Yarns this winter, to make a Season 18 Doctor Who scarf. Both yarns were labeled as DK yarns, but one was closer to Aran weight, and the other was closer to sport weight. I ended up using 2 strands held together of the thinner chenille yarn for that color, and a single strand of the thicker chenille yarn for the other 2 colors.
@@CrocreatebySarah Shipping from Turkey with Ice Yarns (or Hobium) is expensive, but fast, and the yarn prices are pretty cheap. I have purchased the exact same “organic” cotton yarn you tested. The colors are absolutely beautiful. Deep, rich colors. Full stop. End of story. There is no stretch to the yarn and the strands are not wound tight enough to stay together so you will be dealing with splits the entire time. It’s fine for small items but I definitely wouldn’t recommend using it for garments of any kind nor for blankets or throws. Thanks for your review!
Heads up, loop yarn is only supposed to be used for finger knitting afaik. I have used it and it's actually really nice and creates super puffy scarves and such.
This was extremely helpful to me. I just bought black yarn to finish an afghan for my daughter. I kind of had to guess on which one to get. I’m still waiting for it to arrive. If it works out well, I may buy more.
I'd probably be quicker to try ordering yarn from Temu if I didn't still have so much yarn in my existing stash. Perhaps in the winter when travel to craft shops in larger cities is less feasible, an online order from Temu might be more tempting.
I love your review. I just started knitting and crocheting and I also shop on Temu for mostly sewing supplies and tools. Still today I’m very happy with my findings and very few items have shown to be really bad quality. And for those I received full refund from them. I’m gonna keep my eyes on the yarns now.
I picked up a single skein of glow in the dark yarn from Temu, as well as a set of three variegated yarns in what I consider to be a unique colourway. I had intended to spend the fall learning to loom knit, and finding crochet stitches to work up, but had to shelve those plans to console and support a very sad and lonely senior cat who lost his brother last month and it's been hard on the both of us. Sad kitty actually derailed me pretty effectively by pooping on my yarn tools I had out on my work table.
I'm not really paying so much attention to the yarn as I am at the fact that you seem to like to crochet small and tight. I definitely would have used a G, or maybe H hook/ 4.25 - 4.50mm range on that DK weight chenille. And the T-shirt Swatch that you worked up would make a nice potholder, it's so tight. Thanks for the idea. By the way, you could make a decorative basket with the super thick yarn. I bet if you braided a handle for it, it would stand up in the air on its own!
Hi Sarah, I’m new to your channel and I saw your review of the yarn with the loops. I have a suggestion for what you can do with it. I’ve been making yarn dogs you can use it as a door stop. My sister found this loop yarn and wanted me to see what I could do with it and I made her a dreadlock dog and it’s so cute. If you want me to send you a picture just let me know. Love your review of temu
Thank you for buying the yarn and showing us the different of different kinds that they have from t EMO. Now with the yarn that you don't like, will you make something out of it? Or what you donate it. I like your video. Can you have personality? Which is appealing to the audiants me
i saw alot of there tshirt yarn is weird as it is coloured on one side and white on the other so u have to like fold it in the middle. all here in australia it is coloured both sides
Price of each item, especially comparing to other common prices is sadly missing from each review. Really really would appreciate this being added. Example : " yarn #1 cost me $4 on Temu and is locally available in my area for $5-$7 Quality shows that $4 was a good value" " yarn #2 cost me $7 on Temu and is locally available in my area for $7 Quality shows that $7 was not a good value"
I'll definitely do a price comparison to similar yarns if I order any more 👍🏻 the prices are on screen for each yarn in the on screen vid as I chat about them 👍🏻😊
thank you for the review. great yarns, but just a heads up, with the loopy yarn, you are meant to like finger create with it, each loop going through each loop, not with a hook or needles. :)
Be warned, this company has horrendous human rights record for employees (not to mention the environmental cost, among a number of other serious issues!) but the store is mostly a front to farm the data from their customers to sell on. The store is just a means to an end. Read up on them, but please shop elsewhere 🧡
I’ve used their yarn and had no problems with it. I agree it is not as cheap as you think. Worth reviewing the market, see what is out there. Craft supplies are good but again, check other areas.
I have been buying most of my yarn from temu for nearly a year.. I haven't been seriously disappointed yet, I find it difficult that I can't touch before buying... Oh, and I dont read korean or chinese.
I also find it really difficult not being able to touch the yarn I like to know how it's gonna feel and have an idea of if it's going to be OK to work up 😊
Thank you for subscribing 😊 yeah it's nice to know what's out there always on the look out for unusual yarns 😄 I love the pom pom yarn it's my favourite 😍
I just ordered some yarn from them last week. I wish I would have seen this sooner. Do you know how to get another discount from them through the ( price adjustment) on the recipe? Saved me a lot over time. Ty for this video.
My price adjustment came up as a flash sale type thing I think, I didn't put any special codes in or anything like that I'm afraid, it was only the second time I ordered from them so not sure if that has anything to do with it? I'm so sorry I can't be more helpful 😔
I have been buying ALL my yarn from TEMU lately and my favorite has been the chenille yarn and one called "squirrel yarn". They make such beautiful beanies and afgans!
Wow that is big yarn!! I’ve never seen that here, but keen to know if you can get it here in the UK? I wonder what a pillow would be like? As in a round one? 🤔 can’t wait to see what you make with it? Xx
Was the chenille colour accurate? You said it was amazing but it looked super different to the screenshot shown. I find most of the yarns you can find on Temu you can also find at the dollar/pound store for about the same price, so I've never ordered from them. I do buy safety eyes on ali, though.
Colour seemed accurate I didn't find myself shocked when it arrived that it was a different colour 😊 I was most surprised about how bright it was if I'm honest I expected the colours to be a bit dull but it was great 👍🏻
Personally I would love to support uk and British companies and sellers but a lot of the time the prices just don’t match and atm it’s money that’s important in most people loves as it’s the difference between doing something and not. A lot of our stores that you can get it at the same prices are like pound land and b&m and they are huge companies the same but you physically see the product so in my opinion not much different. It’s not like going into a small independent craft shop- we have 2 wool shops near where I live and they are £5 + for 50g of yarn…. It’s a lot. I’ve stopped buying as can’t afford to do it atm.
@@cherylhowker1792 Yeah, they're probably trying to make money themselves to pay rent, wages etc 🤷♀️. It probably depends on whether you care about changing the future or just keep it going the same way. Everyone views things in life differently.
I buy velvet yarn and cotton yarn on temu. I love the yarn. It is cheaper, but the quality of the yarns is great, in my opinion. I love the cotton yarn. They are comparable to hobbii, i like what i got on temu better, and the prices are a lot better. I will keep buying on temu. Shady business everywhere. America is one of the worst. We choose to look the other way.
I will be honest, I thought Temu was just something in the US 😂😂 I didn't realise we could get it here! I might have to have a little look 🫣 I have no exciting suggestions for that huuuuuge yarn, maybe a blanket? I am intrigued to see what you make with it though.
Yes Temu is available over here I think people are a bit dubious about using it which is fair enough but I've never had any problems and in all fairness the items I've received have always been OK 🙂 the huge yarn is a conundrum lol I'll see what ideas come up 😅
Organic? That's one of those words that is slapped onto just about anything and mans nothing. I would never trust anything this company says and I've seen too many bad reviews to ever buy from them!
I got some lion brand yarn it’s 3.5 oz and the color way sunset nights and it is raveling apart. It’s probably not Temu fault but it is so hard to crochet with, but I do like all the other yarns I have purchased
No!!! I ordered some yarn from them, first they sent it to the wrong address, when I received it I was trying to use it for a project, it's the weakest yarn I ever purchased, it pull apart easily.
The pompom yarn looks like roving, you should never knit or crochet with roving as it will fall apart. The mega chunky yarn looks like a really long tube of fabric sewn closed and stuffed with toy filler, you could probably make it yourself for way cheaper!
I might give that a go but it would involve me and a sewing machine 🤣 I'll double check the pom pom yarn at least I can needle felt it if it is roving ☺️
I'm so sorry that happened to you 😔 I think a lot of people feel the same they don't have a very nice opinion of them which I completely understand. It's such a controversial topic 😕
Due to economic strain on businesses and especially shipping companies in different countries obligated to use their services to honor "free" shipping, I refrain from doing biz with this company... No matter the "deals". Not sure I trust the quality or safety of Chinese products.

Use a center pull ball .the bag works GREAT !!
Thanks for video ive been wanting to get yarn on temu 🎉🎉🎉
You're very welcome 😊 hopefully it's given you an idea of what you can buy 😊
Hi Teresa that sounds great! Yes please I'd love to see a picture 😊 I'm definitely going to make something with it I won't let it beat me 🤣
Thank you for buying the yarn and showing us the different of different kinds that they have from t EMO.
Now with the yarn that you don't like, will you make something out of it? Or what you donate it.
I like your video.
Can you have personality? Which is appealing to the audiants me
I bought some lovely chenille yarn from Temu however I can’t use it for my amigurumi animals.
Interesting. I buy from Wool Warehouse and Ice yarns, if I am buying overseas ( I live in the US) and I have not one time been disappointed💖
I've never bought from Ice yarns but it's definitely one I want to try out I love some of their yarns 😊
Thank you so much for this video..very clear and useful information
You're very welcome 😊 I'm so glad you found it helpful 💖
i saw alot of there tshirt yarn is weird as it is coloured on one side and white on the other so u have to like fold it in the middle. all here in australia it is coloured both sides
I'll definitely do a price comparison to similar yarns if I order any more 👍🏻 the prices are on screen for each yarn in the on screen vid as I chat about them 👍🏻😊
The prices ARE in the vid she just didnt say them verbally
Just stumbled across you and love your content, amazing review of Temu yarns, I'm a new subbie ❤
Thank you so much 😊 I love finding new yarns (what yarn crafter doesn't 😅) thank you for subscribing and hope you keep enjoying the content 💖
thank you for the review. great yarns, but just a heads up, with the loopy yarn, you are meant to like finger create with it, each loop going through each loop, not with a hook or needles. :)
Be warned, this company has horrendous human rights record for employees (not to mention the environmental cost, among a number of other serious issues!) but the store is mostly a front to farm the data from their customers to sell on. The store is just a means to an end. Read up on them, but please shop elsewhere 🧡
Goodness, that giant yarn is a cushion on it's own!
I know 😅 it's soooo big to work with even for finger crochet
I do like Drops yarn as well. I have never been disappointed with any of it.
I love drops yarns too I want to try out their alpaca yarns next we are definitely having the right weather foe it in the UK right now 😅
With the last big yarn you can make a cute round rug 💕💕
Amazing idea ❤️😊😊
Loopy yarn is done but using your fingers there are tutorials online it’s very easy to learn how to use it.
It's definitely on my list made a right boo boo trying to crochet with it but still wondering if it is possible lol 😆
Thanks for swatching them. ❣️
I’ve used their yarn and had no problems with it. I agree it is not as cheap as you think. Worth reviewing the market, see what is out there. Craft supplies are good but again, check other areas.
Yes definitely worth shopping around. Some are cheap some aren't I've never personally had a problem but I get why it's a bit of a taboo subject 😊
Loopy yarn finger knit, pull loops through other loops
Oooh great thank you I'm looking for a new finger crochet project so that's great thank you 😊
The last one, what is inside it? Looks like a sewn tube with something filling it.. It makes me wonder how hard it would be to make the 'yarn' itself
It's like a tube of stuffing. I think with some Stretchy fabric you could sew a really long tube and make your own 👍🏻
I have been buying most of my yarn from temu for nearly a year.. I haven't been seriously disappointed yet, I find it difficult that I can't touch before buying... Oh, and I dont read korean or chinese.
I also find it really difficult not being able to touch the yarn I like to know how it's gonna feel and have an idea of if it's going to be OK to work up 😊
They have contain PHTHALATES
New subscriber here! Great review on the different types of yarn. I've never seen the pom pom yarn, it's super cute!
I'm so sorry I can't be more helpful 😔
ciao, io ho provato a comperare un gomitolo molto economico di cachemire al 70 % purtroppo non è cachemire ma acrilico, per il resto mi trovo bene
Definitely something to be aware of with sites like Temu what you're getting isn't necessarily what's advertised
I have been buying ALL my yarn from TEMU lately and my favorite has been the chenille yarn and one called "squirrel yarn". They make such beautiful beanies and afgans!
Is cotten not always organic? Or do i understad the word wrong x'3 my english is not the best.
Cotton should always be organic, its how the yarn is processed and if any chemicals are added which made me a bit dubious about buying on Temu 🙂
Wow that is big yarn!! I’ve never seen that here, but keen to know if you can get it here in the UK? I wonder what a pillow would be like? As in a round one? 🤔 can’t wait to see what you make with it? Xx
A pillow is a great idea! I'm not sure about getting it in the UK definitely need to do some research to see if I can support any UK businesses 😊
The Aldi middle isle had cheaper yarn lol 😂😅
Was the chenille colour accurate? You said it was amazing but it looked super different to the screenshot shown.
I find most of the yarns you can find on Temu you can also find at the dollar/pound store for about the same price, so I've never ordered from them. I do buy safety eyes on ali, though.
Colour seemed accurate I didn't find myself shocked when it arrived that it was a different colour 😊 I was most surprised about how bright it was if I'm honest I expected the colours to be a bit dull but it was great 👍🏻
Just found your channel. You from Stoke xx
I am from Stoke 😊
@@CrocreatebySarah Fenton here. Love the channel. Xx
I would not trust that organic label. Not from Temu. Who is accrediting it? And had it actually truly been accredited?
I was dubious about it from the off for sure. I think I say that there's no way anything on Temu isnt man made lol 😆
That's a beastie bit of yarn 😂😂 how about a crafty cat nest they would love it 😂😂
Ooh that is a good idea 🙂
Great video. Just a shame all the small businesses that get trumped by the likes of Temu etc.
@@cherylhowker1792 Yeah, they're probably trying to make money
themselves to pay rent, wages etc 🤷♀️. It probably depends on whether you care about changing the future or just keep it going the same way. Everyone views things in life differently.
The loopy yarn is made for hand/finger knitting which is probably why you had so much trouble working with it
It was an epic fail 😆 I'm going to try finger knitting with it for sure though :)
1:59 thats knot how you use it
It is like knitting without needles
Bucket list: I must learn to convert UK pounds to US dollars 😝
😆 I should really pop it in $ too lol I always use Google 😅 I'll try and be better at converting 😊
thanks for the video
You're very welcome 😊
I buy velvet yarn and cotton yarn on temu. I love the yarn. It is cheaper, but the quality of the yarns is great, in my opinion. I love the cotton yarn. They are comparable to hobbii, i like what i got on temu better, and the prices are a lot better. I will keep buying on temu. Shady business everywhere. America is one of the worst. We choose to look the other way.
Aren't you supposed to work the loopy yarn with your fingers ?
Yes I think so 🤦🏻♀️ I was naive lol 😆 🤣
I will be honest, I thought Temu was just something in the US 😂😂 I didn't realise we could get it here! I might have to have a little look 🫣 I have no exciting suggestions for that huuuuuge yarn, maybe a blanket? I am intrigued to see what you make with it though.
Yes Temu is available over here I think people are a bit dubious about using it which is fair enough but I've never had any problems and in all fairness the items I've received have always been OK 🙂 the huge yarn is a conundrum lol I'll see what ideas come up 😅
You can make stuff that might need more structure like a pet bed or basket.
Organic? That's one of those words that is slapped onto just about anything and mans nothing. I would never trust anything this company says and I've seen too many bad reviews to ever buy from them!
Yarn from Temu is kind of expensive though 😅
That's exactly what I said in my review 😊 it's not any cheaper it's just different 😊
I got some lion brand yarn it’s 3.5 oz and the color way sunset nights and it is raveling apart. It’s probably not Temu fault but it is so hard to crochet with, but I do like all the other yarns I have purchased
I think it's so hard buying yarn online you see a lot of things that look lovely but are they any good in person is the gamble you have 😊
You bought it from Temu? Perhaps they just labeled a cheap yarn as Lion Brand. They are known for that.
No!!! I ordered some yarn from them, first they sent it to the wrong address, when I received it I was trying to use it for a project, it's the weakest yarn I ever purchased, it pull apart easily.
All the product's i have bought from Temu don't meet British safety standards. Be aware!!!!
They contained PHTHALATES. Link to cancer
I never had Problems with temo for more then one year. I think your needles are to small
Temu stole several of my designs. I hate them.
I'm so sorry that happened to you 😔 I think a lot of people feel the same they don't have a very nice opinion of them which I completely understand. It's such a controversial topic 😕
Temu looks like they have cool gadgets but I think they're hurting the economy 😢
I think you're right lovely and I agree but unfortunately people are so hard up right now cheap places like this have become a go to place 😢
Smells like a sponsored post.
Not a sponsored post I can assure you 😊👍🏻 just wanted to see if any yarns from there were any good 😊
I found that same thick yarn on shein, much cheaper
I'll definitely check that out 😊
Due to economic strain on businesses and especially shipping companies in different countries obligated to use their services to honor "free" shipping, I refrain from doing biz with this company... No matter the "deals". Not sure I trust the quality or safety of Chinese products.
I agree temu is good
