The hooks look so cute! They don’t seem to label the size though? I would probably buy the hooks alone too. I wanted the pushers ones so much but not for $40!! The patterns are all too simple for me because I’m not a beginner.
@ShainaMakesStuff they're labeled! All the woobles hooks I have say 4mm on them. If the hook has a pattern (not their typical solid blue ones), the size is a bit hard to find but still there. They're all a size 4mm. I think it would be neat for them to sell their hooks individually with more sizes. Many people buy collabs and limited edition kits ONLY to be able to get the hook. They seem to be money hungry lately, so I think that'll be a great money grab for them 😅
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I bought a Woobles kit because I wanted the Pac-Man themed crochet hook. The kit does make it super easy and is great for beginners. That being said, I hated it. I have been crocheting for more than 25 years, and I’ve never hated a project more than this kit. The finished project didn’t look great. I won’t buy another for myself. I’m really glad that it has gotten so many people into crochet, though. A lot of people love them.
I have those feelings too. Lots of people have learned crochet from the Woobles and I think that’s great. But lots of other people get frustrated trying to make ami as their first project and end up giving up. It’s a mixed bag for sure.
@@Tfwcrochet I learned to crochet fairly recently, and while I haven't tried the Woobles kits, I stumbled across their youtube channel fairly early in my journey and I'm so glad I did. When you have no real idea of what a crochet stitch is 'supposed' to look like, the easy peasy yarn is so much easier to see than plied, velvet or chenille yarns.
This is the most measured take on Woobles/ Woobles yarn that I have seen from a crochet RUclipsr, and it is refreshing. It seems like everyone likes to hate on the Woobles, so someone who gives pros and cons is nice. I love their yarn! The only reason I don’t have tons of it since they started selling it at JoAnn is that it’s expensive, and I can’t justify it (yet). I am really surprised that the yarn says to use a 5mm hook when the kits come with 4 mm hooks, though. Some other ideas for videos: Hobby Lobby has some crochet kits that are under $10 each (by “Needle Creations”?) and say that they’re for intermediate or advanced crocheters. Just looking at the front of the box, the difference seems to be if it uses chenille yarn (advanced level) or not. Maybe getting 2 and seeing if the levels seem appropriate could be fun? Or just getting an “advanced” kit since that doesn’t come up often? I also thought that getting the new flower granny square yarn and seeing what else you could do with it instead if the pattern may be fun. Have a great day!
Thinking about the suggested hook size, I wonder if it's just because that's the common yarn label recommendation for medium weight yarn. Usually yarn labels give a suggested hook and needle to get a middling kind of gauge, the kind of tension you could maybe make a sweater or hat with. Not too dense, but not see through. Woobles started with amigurumi kits, but it feels like they're selling this yarn just kinda for "whatever", so it makes sense that they're stick with the convention of a middling tension suggestion
Adding to what the others have said, it's usually recommended you size down your hook by 1mm when doing amigurumi. So the yarn is usually meant to be used with a 5mm hook, but for their amigurumi kits specifically, they give you a 4mm hook since that's what you would typically use to get tighter stitches, which prevents stuffing from leaking out.
I learned how to crochet with a cheap Amazon dupe of the Easy Peasy yarn and it was great. I found myself splitting the other yarns I used. I mostly make wearables and accessories so I don’t use any of these yarns anymore but your content is really refreshing.
I learned how to crochet through the Woobles kit for Felix The Fox. Personally, it was a really good way to actively learn the steps of crochet, how to read rounds and patterns, etc. For that, I'm grateful. However, the best thing I did I was find different tutorials on RUclips afterward and find someone who I understood easily, and go from there. I also switched to acrylic normal yarn and haven't gone back to t-shirt yarn since then, or cotton given the fact that it's rougher on the wrist and doesn't hold up patterns well. Also, finding a new hook is a good idea as well! The Woobles hook isn't the best quality, though some swear by it. It's a good thing to learn from especially with the step by step programs on there, but afterward I don't see the appeal of buying more kits when I know I'll hate the yarn after everything I've done.
lol I cried when I tried the woobles (same kit as urs) bc I undid the ready made magic ring. Over 2 years later I’m quite good at it! And the one thing I used was RUclips! But I started a year after I got the kit, so maybe that was a factor?
I learned to crochet with Woobles, and I actually agree with your assessment. I'm very glad I learned crochet with Easy Peasy yarn (and some of the knockoffs LOL). I will argue that it is the absolute best yarn to learn with. That is a hill I will die on. But it's not my favorite. As far as the gaps are concerned, I feel like there isn't anything you can really do to prevent them fully. I'll do a row, won't see any gaps, then when I start the next row, the gaps appear. I also find that while the yarn itself isn't super stiff, my projects that I make with it are, which makes sewing anything onto them a pain. I also find that working with this yarn dries out my hands more than if I'm working witch chenille.
I am a Woobles lover, but I like your assessment--fair, accurate, and specific. Some people will make multiple Woobles kits, whether they love or merely accept the yarn. I returned to crocheting after a 40 years' absence. One of my biggest concerns from my old experience and now much older eyes and fingers was avoiding yarn splitting and occasionally leaving a visible fault from the same. Easy Peasy yarn was perfect for me, as a re-beginner. I expect to move away from the Easy Peasy yarn soon, mostly due to its bulk and wanting to reduce gaps, but I am searching carefully.
A woobles kit was how I got started amigurumi. I had been crocheting about a year before doing my first kit. My manager at work had a couple woobles kits to do with her niece while she was visiting but never got to them and asked me to do them for her. I agree with you on the yarn for sure, I’d never buy a kit myself or the yarn personally, that being said that I am glad that I did the ones I did because it gave me the push i needed to get into making plushies and now I love it
Thank you for the Lily moment. We had to put our first dog to sleep a couple weeks ago. She was 16. The way Lily was bowing and running reminded me of how our baby girl used to run and play. ❤
This type of yarn has a cotton core, which means if you use tight tension you will have gaps. Cotton has no relaxation to it as a fiber, so if you make it strong it will STAY strong. I did the Yumly kit from Lion Brand, and it has the Lazy Days yarn, which is polyester. You need to use looser tension because of the cotton. Also yarning UNDER instead of OVER reduces the gaps, but not if you use tight tension. HTH
For me it’s just too complicated lol. If I stitched looser the gaps were worse so I don’t know. I have used cotton yarns with MUCH more success than this. I just think tshirt yarn and I don’t get along lol
I started off with cotton yarn and I realised that when I was trying to crochet tightly there'd always be a lot of gaps. Realised soon enough I had to loosen my tension 😂
@@Tfwcrochet I get it. It’s not for you 🤷🏽♀️ I’ll take that pink left over yarn if you are still giving it away 😅 That little lemon on the Woobles label has me thinking pink lemon 🍋 😂😂
I love that you’re wearing your hexagon sweater! Super cute! I am opposite of you on the green bean casserole. My whole family loves it and I don’t like it! We travelled for thanksgiving but will be home christmas and will be doing the turkey and all the good stuff that goes along with it! Your channel is awesome! Hope your family had a good thanksgiving!
I'm yet another person that learned how to crochet last year when I bought a Woobles Valentine's bundle. I had a blast, but I'm never making a Woobles style critter again because so many things are better to me. However, Woobles didn't lie that they make it impossibly easy to learn the basics, but all of their "how to do ___ stitch" videos are free on RUclips, and they just give you a pattern to copy when you buy a kit.
I appreciate your critique of the easy peasy yarn. I started with a Woobles kit and having tried other kits, I stand by Woobles as the most accessible and comprehensive kit for a total beginner. Since branching out into other yarns I now see that easy peasy yarn isn’t the most appropriate for the projects I like to make. I love and appreciate Woobles for what it is, an intro to crochet for new fiber artists 😊
@@AlexisTwoLastNames yes it’s crazy when people say never do this or never say that. I like blue and green together as well, especially with a neutral colour in the mix. I do lot of charity blankets and therefore use donated, secondhand and recycled yarns so have to make do with what I have and I’ve found a lot of colours I’ve been told never to use together, work really well. I’ve had people say to me ‘your blanket looks great but you do know you shouldn’t put red and pink together" and things like that. Crazy. I can use whatever colours I want. Come and arrest me. I’m sure a crochet hook would make a good file for escape purposes; 🤪👍
Im currently working on a cute ruffle skirt for my daughter, I love your cardigan!!! I personally struggle to crochet amigurumi anything. Your videos are perfect for crocheting along while I listen.
The reason it was created for beginners is that it won't split on them. I don't personally like it because I am an experienced crocheter. Technically I don't believe it is a t-shirt yarn at all, however, beginners seem to like it and then it's easier to transfer over to other yarns.
I have done a fair number of wobble kits in my early learning crochet days. At the time I remember feeling like I didn’t like the “holes” , having worked with different sizes/textures , I can honestly say I just don’t like t shirt yarn, or the style of the finished look. However it was a pretty great learning kit, if not a bit to pricey , the yarn is great for a starter
my mom is a beginner and for black friday, we picked up a ton. it's so beginner friendly and we're making projects, but i agree that it's overpriced for those who know how to crochet and aren't fond of t-shirt yarn.
Green bean casserole has always been a staple of my family's Thanksgiving. There are always those who don't like it, and I don't mind at all. My response is, "That's more for me!" 😄😄 And the squid is very cute. Would have enjoyed seeing the lemon!
I LOVE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE... My bf introduced me to it a few years ago and now it's a must for all our Thanksgivings. Turkey, potatoes, stuffing , pie, green bean casserole, and gravy. That's my menu.
This is the first time I have been to your channel, it popped up ad a suggestion. I am new to crochet, very interested in anigurumi. I got a Woobles kit to learn. It is expensive as a kit, but good price when you consider the step by step internet lessons that come with it. Before I was halfway through, I saw another cute little project on RUclips and actually did that completely first (made a couple of them). I do not really care for the t-shirt yarn because of the stretch, but as a learning tool, it was nice not needing to worry about it separating. I will be going back to check more of your videos.
the woobles kit comes with a 4.00mm hook, so they don't expect you to use a 5 mm like the label says but instead follow the amigurumi advice of going down at least 1 mm
I think what really sets them apart from other kits has got to be the videos they include. Although some videos are reused, as a beginner I did the lion from woobles and it made it so easy. It was my very first crochet project and two years later I haven’t put my hook down yet! It was something I really enjoyed, but the price is kinda crazy.
I’ve done a few wobbles kits. I’m not a beginner crocheter by any means but using it to get into amigurumi really did help. I was able to get used to the style of crochet needed with a tighter tension. Every kit I’ve ever seen uses a 3.75 or 4mm hook so I think the 5 is for a simpler project like maybe hat or blankie. Wobbles was my amigurumi gateway and rhss is now my go to yarn for all of my amigurumi.
I agree with your assessment. It is definitely easy to work with, but it isn't...great. Once I figured out the tension to get the stitches to fill in, I do like it more. I've been trying the bernat maker yarn, which is quite similar, less stretchy, but somehow creates even more holes.
💯 !! I have a love and hate relationship with that yarn. I love it because i FINALLY have been able to learn to crochet and even done some projects because of their kits! But hate it because the tension can be hard to get right and they're expensive 💔 as soon as i get super good then ill try other yarns. You should do best yarns for begginers 🙏🏼
The best yarn for beginners is a middle-tone (AKA: Not black!), affordable, plain acrylic. Nothing fuzzy or ultra-textured. Something you aren't afraid to use, so nothing super expensive, but something balancing affordability with a color and texture you enjoy. Black and/or fuzzy yarns will make your stitches impossible to see and therefore impossible to learn if you are doing it right or wrong. But as long as you can see your stitches, and aren't afraid to use the "nice" yarn, then whatever is available to you will work. Because there are differences in availability based on region, these are the best parameters to use since it would work for anyone in any region. Like me? I live in Canada, so no Joanns or Hobby Lobby for me. The only yarn stores I have near me are Michael's and a few small Local Yarn Shops (LYS). So telling me to go use "I Love This Yarn" because its good for beginners wouldn't work for me. But I can get the Michael's house brand very easily.
my 1st and favorite yarns to crochet with have been bold colored, worsted weight (medium weight 4) acrylic yarns that I like the feel of as a skein. (some can be scratchy, so skip those) But once I was decently comfortable with those yarns, I tried making snowflake ornaments from lace weight yarn and absolutely loved the challenge, even if just for one project.
i learned to crochet with the woobles kit and i love how easy the stitches were for me to see, but i definitely agree with the yarn being a bit of a weird feeling. i just have my woobles on my shelves where i don’t need to mess with them so i don’t have to feel the yarn LOL. i think it’s definitely a good yarn for beginners, but that’s the only think i really like about it. i did really like my woobles kit though! i’m left handed and the instructions were really clear, so i found it really nice as my gateway into crocheting. i wish they sold the patterns alone though because i love all the sanrio and snoopy patterns but cannot justify $30+ for a kit when i just want the pattern 😵💫
For the Woobles kits I use a 3.0mm hook instead of the hook they provide because I also hated the gaps. I don’t use there yarn anymore since I’ve gotten more comfortable with crocheting but I think it’s the best yarn for a beginner to use.
Thanksgiving dinner? Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy (no canned stuff!), broccoli casserole, creamed corn, homemade yeast rolls, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie. After a few days i might get sick of it but its so good.
lily is soooo cute🥰 i also have a golden retriever called twix, she was next to me as i watched the video and was lying on top of the star blanket that im currently crocheting haha
If you want affordable and accessible but not the best quality ever in terms of it breaking when sewing: Bernat Velvet If you don’t mind having to spend a little more for really good quality that doesn’t break the Lunarm brand on Amazon is amazing. You do have to buy in 3 packs though so that part isn’t great. I also like the Keche Velvet. Excellent quality but is more expensive. But this one looks a bit more like chenille than velvet.
i love the yarn in the woobles kits 😭😭 i just SUCK at amigurumi and wanted to use it for other things (without having to spend $30 per each pack.....) im gonna have to snatch this up
Coincidently I was actually working on a snake with this yarn while watching this video. My opinion on this yarn is I decently like this yarn. I am a beginner so I haven’t tried any other yarns this is only my 3rd project. I like that it doesn’t split, I tried to use a yarn that I had laying around and it split so bad so that lasted 5 seconds then I switched back to the woobles yarn. I am noticing that my snake is stiffer than I wanted it to be so I’m going to put pipe cleaners inside to make it more bendy. Anyways that’s my review of this yarn thank you for reading. 😊
I was working on a crochet gingerbread man tree ornament. I am not a huge fan of tee shirt yarn either. I appreciated your honest review. Your squid was quite cute!
I was working on Pierre from the woobles while watching this lol! And I can totally agree with everything you said, o was struggling doing the sc’s because the hook wouldn’t go in all the way making me have to re-try a million times
I'm doing a late night crochet to stitch a lapel on a hexa cardi. That being said, I live in Australia and it's VERY rare to come across Woobles products, if at all. We usedd to have t-shirt yarn at our Spotlight but they don't sell it anymore.
In my household we no longer celebrate any Holidays or Birthdays and I got to say we don’t miss it. It’s been 2 years now and it’s been a game changer.
I just started learning to really crochet with a woobles kit I got a Christmas. I really love the end result but, now that I've started my 2nd kit, I'm already too advanced for the videos, but I don't feel good enough to do a pattern from scratch yet and that's my goal...... to do a dragon plushie!
You can totally do it! I did two Woobles kits before trying a random pattern on my own. I crocheted that same pattern over and over again (it kept coming out awful) until I got a passably good result (I ended up having to use a different yarn). Then I started scouring RUclips for videos on the types of projects that I wanted to create. I started learning more about yarn, found some free pattern websites, and then I was off and running!
@kdkaboom55 thanks! I've done 4 amigurumi since that post. Still can't get the dang wings on the Petite Pierre! They are sewn into the body as a wing instead of sewing the wing and then attaching it to the body. But, I was able to finish Snoopy and now doing a baby chick.
I would love the pink Woobles yarn! I’ve never tried it before and I have a whole nightmare before Christmas plush set to make that I could use it for!
I loved this video, even as seasoned former fan girl of the Woobles! This yarn used to amazing when it first came out-it came with more yardage, and it worked as intended. It was perfect to learn to crochet with (as it didn’t have fraying and slippage). HAVING SAID THAAAAT… They’ve raised the price, give less yarn, and tbh this is not good yarn for those who are seasoned with crochet. It’s great to learn, but not great to use once one has picked up the hobby. Also, it’s supposed to be 4mm (or at least, that’s what it was before, and for most kits), and I’ll be honest, it needs like a 3.5 or even a 3mm to lose the gaps. Source: I own way too many kits 😂 Edit: the have had this yarn for sale for quite some time, however, it was originally only available on Amazon 😅
Ive never bought this brand but i love tshirt yarn... just not for amigarumi 😂makes great bags baskets and jackets tho! Crocheting a beanie for my husband while i watch ❤
As someone who got into crochet because of The Woobles, it was great for what it was intended for, beginners. However, now being out of beginner baby crochet it is certainly not yarn I would actively choose for any project.
To me, Woobles Easy Peasy yarn is tubular t-shirt yarn. Tubular yarn should have a smooth outer surface (no splittable strand), usually with a core. T-shirt yarn is constructed from a jersey style, finely knit fabric, but it is possibly rolled from a strip. The only skein I ever saw of the rolled t-shirt yarn had no visible edge when worked and was comfortable to work with. I noticed that it had some stretch (not excessive) compared to Easy Peasy yarn. It was only apoarent that it was rolled when I teased a piece of it apart and saw a flat ribbon of jersey with raw edges. Easy Peasy yarn has the T-shirt feel and finiish, but it is tubular in construction. These definitions are my own.
My mom made a dry rub on the turkey, and it was nice and moist. And stuffing cranberry sauce and the usuals. But desert was amazing, my mom makes these AMAZING things called pumpkin rolls, I can't describe how good it is so here's how ill describe its... Its like pumpkin bread rolled up with cream cheese, and also we had monkey bread which was also amazing!!
Oh trust me you should. I will warn you though, they are not the easiest to make because my mom tries changing the recipe sometimes but it always ends up failing a little bit or we have to change it to a cake instead so just a warning lol.
I managed to split the Woobles yarn with the hook that they provided - while trying to make my stitches tight. Worked up with several snags. Honestly, tho - I don’t make amigurumi, so I wouldn’t have made it without the kit. It’s cute. I hate the polyester blanket yarn stuff, tho - I made a baby blanket with it and the yarn soaks up so much liquid that I couldn’t get it to dry at all after I washed it. Worst baby blanket I’ve ever gifted to someone, hope they never have to wash it. Velvet yarn is nice until it worms its way out of the stitches - feels amazing tho. I usually use acrylic, cotton, or a wool blend - depending on who will receive the gift.
I’ve always thought that the woobles were cute but the yarn makes them look bulky and un-uniform. I was excited when I saw you posted this video so I could hear other’s opinions on it!
Appears very similar to the home decorating yarn, I think it was Bernat, that I tried. It made a great bathroom rug. Soft and squishy on the feet and I enjoyed working with it. I don’t think i would be happy using for amigurumi, not soft and fuzzy enough for me.
I can't say I'm a huge fan of Woobles. I haven't touched the yarn but I do feel their kits are Expensive. I learned to crochet amigarumi while I was sick with Covid early on in the pandemic. I had yarn and ordered a set of hooks off Amazon. I just found a video here on the Tube that walked me through the basics and I probably didn't pay more than $20 for all of my supplies to start learning. Woobles kits cost upwards of $40. If it is worth that much to get a kit and avoid learning how to make a magic ring for some I guess that is good for them.
she is cute i think it turned out great and there yarn is more for newbs! i also don't understand why they don't have their yarn on the site! iv got some of the kits but have not had time to try them yet and i bought some of the yarn on amazon and the lemon is on all the yarn labels ! im not a newbie but also not a pro and have not used my skills in a while, so i thought the kits would be a good refresher for me cus it is easier to see the stitches and wont split!
Ever since I started seeing the woobles kits I've felt like they're a rip off. $30 to $40 for the supplies to make a small amigurumi is nuts to me. That yarn just seems like a thinner version of Bernat maker yarn.
I would never spend that much on a kit or the yarn. For Thanksgiving dinner, my list is super long. I'm in my 60s, so I've probably cooked 40+ dinners. I have for several years due to $$$ alot for one day. There's only 2 of us in the house now, and I can't cook without leftovers. My must haves are turkey, of course with dressing, not stuffing. Green beans, mashed and sweet potatoes 😅, dinner rolls, gravy, noodles apple salad. Then desserts are pumpkin pie, some type of cream pie and apple crumb pie. More food if more people 😅😅😅. Love watching all your videos, but I'm way behind. Hopefully I'll catch up today. 😊
Sounds like a great list! I guess I technically make dressing too. But we always call it stuffing. I made an apple crumb cake and it was SOOO good. My favorite dessert this year.
Thanksgiving.....sweet potato casserole, leave out the butter, cut back a bit on the sugar.....topped with the brown sugar and butter crumbled topping sprinkled with broken pecans!
@@JessicaNiles honestly I’m not sure! I would have to think about it. I personally just learned with a medium weight acrylic and that was just fine for me but I know it can be easier to split so maybe not the best for everyone.
I'm a Woobles loyalist because they're how I learned to crochet. I got my first kit waaaaay before they released easy peasy yarn (and before they had the bags they do--my first kits were in adorable canvas bags that I use for hook storage now). In my opinion, the easy peasy yarn serves the purpose of teaching people how to see stitches and to learn without having to worry about snags. I do think it would have helped me with my first project (Kiki the chick!). Does the yarn look good though? Nah. Absolutely not. At least not compared to a fluffier yarn. Having something to fluff up some and cover any gaps that might happen makes a better amigurumi, in my opinion. I would never buy it for a project now. But would I buy it to help teach someone to crochet? Absolutely.
@@gracevictoria6555 I actually have a whole process video on how I made this. But the pattern is a hexagon cardigan pattern I got on a blog called hayhaycrochet and then I just freehanded the ribbing sections.
FTR Woobles kits include a 4mm hook. I think the stuff on the yarn skein was based on thickness and not amigurumi making. I don't get why they DON'T put the skeins on the site. The skeins are almost always on sale on Amazon for about 10 and have been out for over a year. The only change they've made in that time was making the skeins a bit smaller. As for other missing stuff from the site, they only recently put their pattern book up there. But only as a bundle with yarn or kits. I learned with woobles. It was a good gateway into crochet but I've largely moved on. The way it teaches you to read patterns is worth its weight in gold. I still use the yarn and Bernat Home Dec (which is basically the same construction) for accessories. I irrationally dislike chenille yarn. This was a fair review.
Though I think wobbles are cute, the price to me is way to high. If you go in thinking your getting a pattern you really like then maybe? But with so many wonderful pattern designers on Etsy I would rather buy thier pattern and choose my own yarn. But, that is my own opinion and everyone can choose what makes them happy 😊 As for that rude comment, it's sad someone has to be so very rude for no reason other to just be mean. I pray they find peace in their heart one day. You are a wonderful person and I am gald to have found your channel. I have been working on several Amigurumi's and binge listening to your videos. 😂😂😂
Yes, I so agree. I am happy for those that have found it a good experience but I personally will not buy a kit from Wobbles.Though a bought a kit I saw a Walmart to make Jack Skellington my son loves that character so I plan on making him. I made my son a Jack Skellington Afghan for Christmas. Took me 2 weeks, and I swore won't make another for a while ! Lol ,blankets are not my thing, but I do like to make them for just doing something with really thinking about it.
Yeah, i learned to crochet way before woobles came out. Like almost two decades ago. I got hooked into woobles via their advertising, tried it and couldnt finish a kit. For precisely the same reason as you, i couldnt stand the tensioning perfect, i want my stitches to be tighter. I hated seeing the holes so much.
I haven’t tried either t-shirt yarn or Woobles yet, but I do want to give them a try. I just finished a Herrschners Ami kit - the Chromatic cobra and I was surprised at how much I loved their cheerful fleece yarn. Would love to get your thoughts.
Always had mixed thoughts about the woobles in general. I think that its great so many people can learn to crochet with the kits but the finished pieces like you said always seem a bit gappy and imo just not the cutest. I kinda wish they would make a diy wearables kit using the yarn instead because i do think thats where tshirt yarn really excels. This yarn would be amazing for bags or belts but for amis…. Also the price to me is the biggest reason i will never try it especially because its excluded from coupons!!!
I kinda want to get a woobles kit just because the patterns are cute but I don’t think I’d like the yarn. I heard someone say it’s a blown yarn before. Not sure it it is though. I was working on a Rita Fox by Pica Pau while watching 😊
I'm working on a mushroom. I have never tried a T-shirt yarn, or a Wobbles because it is not in my budget to spend that much on a kit or a yarn I am unsure of.
I tried to like it, but I am also not a fan of T-Shirt yarn, I think it is the stretchy feeling...I feel like I have less control. Like if I find it on deep discount...I will probably still buy it but not something I will go out of my way to get. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner! We make 2 turkeys, one roasted and one smoked. For sides this year...broccoli is a cream sauce, corn, mash potatoes, chicken pot pie (which isn't really a side, lol), mac and cheese, ham and cheese croissant, pigs in a blanket, cornbread, rolls...I bought green beans but then forgot about them until 3/4 into my cooking session...so no green beans this year. Also, I bought pie, pumpkin and pecan. I don't bake.🤣🤣
Your food all sounds soooo good! I also prefer cooking over baking. I tried making lots of desserts all in one day but ended up having to buy a pumpkin pie because I ruined the first one lol
Me when I read the title: Yes, but also...absolutely not. The price tag was way to big for me. It's comparable to other t shirt yarns, but man I can't wrap my mind around 12.99 for 164 yards of yarn. Big Twist is even worse because it's 12.99 for 131 yards! Maybe I'm just cheap haha but sooner make my own t-shirt yarn with shirts I'm done with than buy that yarn. But for the right project and for someone who can afford it? It's probably worth it!
Green bean casserole and mashed potatoes and gravy as well as rolls are my favorite. I have made 39 Thanksgiving meals now and I rarely eat a meal that I have cooked. I’m just tired of food by the time it is done. Lol. That was a very weird comment you shared from a viewer. I personally was just thinking about how stunning your eyes are. Nothing creepy here, I just notice because I come from a family of gingers, lol.
How many of you got a Woobles ad on this video 😂 ?
I did!😂
@@Tfwcrochet same

The price turned me off of this yarn. I kinda wish they would just sell their hooks independently instead of their yarn. I’d snap those things up!
Oh are they good? I still haven’t actually tried a kit lol
The hooks look so cute! They don’t seem to label the size though? I would probably buy the hooks alone too. I wanted the pushers ones so much but not for $40!! The patterns are all too simple for me because I’m not a beginner.
definitely the only way to get it is on sale. Even then it’s still expensive
I find a good set of clover hooks work way better. I like the cute specialized ones but they aren’t very smooth like clover
Woobl3s are y i tried crochet. The tutorials were amazing and i made something i display.
The pacman pattern is of the worst kits they've released. I have no idea how in the world that thing was supposed to end up any sort of round. 🤣
@@Yirggzmb That makes sense.
But if you make the pink lemon, then it'll make pink lemonade! 😂
That’s true 😅
Not me off to make a pink lemon to advertise my obsession with pink lemonade!
I learned how to crochet with a cheap Amazon dupe of the Easy Peasy yarn and it was great. I found myself splitting the other yarns I used. I mostly make wearables and accessories so I don’t use any of these yarns anymore but your content is really refreshing.
Whats the brand of the dupe
@ it was just called easy yarn. It was 13 bucks on Amazon for 6 50g skeins. I got it in light pink and green so I could see my stitches well.
Im so sorry for your loss ❤❤
Oh my goodness I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad Lily could make you smile.
@@ATurtle24 sorry you lost your fur baby 🥺
I’m so sorry for your loss! I had to put down my 12 yr old puppy a few weeks ago as well, still reeling 😢
Thank you! I meant to reference the video where I made it then completely forgot lol!
You, your dog, and your video are absolutely adorable! Thank you so much for your insightful critique of this type of yarn.😍
Thank you 🥹
I'm yet another person that learned how to crochet last year when I bought a Woobles Valentine's bundle.
I love and appreciate Woobles for what it is, an intro to crochet for new fiber artists 😊
this is becoming my favorite channel! i love it here
Omg thank you so much. What a sweet comment 🥹
the pink era is my fav lol. people dislike ariel’s red hair n pink dress combo, but i love red and pink together ❤😂💘
Have always and will always love pink and red together. I remember someone in middle school telling me they clashed and it made me so sad lol.
That’s the goal! I have a whole video making this cardigan that I forgot to reference in the video lol
I love that you crochet without looking at it! I’m in awe. I am a beginner so I aspire to get to that level.
@@RaquelParkerSimone You’ll get there!
my mom is a beginner and for black friday, we picked up a ton. it's so beginner friendly and we're making projects, but i agree that it's overpriced for those who know how to crochet and aren't fond of t-shirt yarn.
Girl I would GLADLY take the yarn 😂 I tried a woobles kit and I loved it!!
Awww, Lily is absolutely adorable! ✌🏻
@@owlseyetarot she’s the true star of the show
I’ve done a few wobbles kits.
Love your sweater. It looks so nice and cozy soft.
Thank you! I have a whole video where I made it if you want to check that out! 10/10 do recommend the yarn
For the Woobles kits I use a 3.0mm hook instead of the hook they provide because I also hated the gaps. I don’t use there yarn anymore since I’ve gotten more comfortable with crocheting but I think it’s the best yarn for a beginner to use.
I make pumpkin pecan pie. My friends and family love it. It combines the best of both pies in one. ❤
That sounds amazing!
Sometimes going up a hook size actually can fill up the holes because you are not pulling it as tight. Seems counterintuitive but it is true.
People keep saying this. I have another kit I’m trying that uses tshirt yarn so I’ll be trying to stitch a little looser. It’s so hard for me!
@ I will be interested in seeing if it makes any difference in the holiness of the amigurumi. Lol
while I was watching this video I was making a doily for a Christmas present!
Oh my goodness Twix is such a cute name! Lily says hi to Twix!
I'm knitting wool socks for my family for x-mas and was working on a my big brother's pair while watching.
I havent tried velvet yarn ever, and I’m looking, so do you know anywhere that sells affordable velvet yarn?
If you want affordable and accessible but not the best quality ever in terms of it breaking when sewing: Bernat Velvet
If you don’t mind having to spend a little more for really good quality that doesn’t break the Lunarm brand on Amazon is amazing.
I hear you! I hope you figured it out!
I was working on a crochet bandana while watching! Loved the video! Thank you so much!
I'm doing a late night crochet to stitch a lapel on a hexa cardi.
That being said, I live in Australia and it's VERY rare to come across Woobles products, if at all. We usedd to have t-shirt yarn at our Spotlight but they don't sell it anymore.
While watching this, I was working on a red dog bandana as a gift for someone
I will have to organize something so I can mail it to one of yall because I hate the idea of it going unused on my shelf
@ that would be awesome!
I wanttt itttt I like to crochet and I have been finding that kind of yarn!!!!
I loved this video, even as seasoned former fan girl of the Woobles!
This yarn used to amazing when it first came out-it came with more yardage, and it worked as intended. It was perfect to learn to crochet with (as it didn’t have fraying and slippage).
HAVING SAID THAAAAT…
They’ve raised the price, give less yarn, and tbh this is not good yarn for those who are seasoned with crochet. It’s great to learn, but not great to use once one has picked up the hobby.
Also, it’s supposed to be 4mm (or at least, that’s what it was before, and for most kits), and I’ll be honest, it needs like a 3.5 or even a 3mm to lose the gaps. Source: I own way too many kits 😂
Edit: the have had this yarn for sale for quite some time, however, it was originally only available on Amazon 😅
Ive never bought this brand but i love tshirt yarn... just not for amigarumi 😂makes great bags baskets and jackets tho!
Crocheting a beanie for my husband while i watch ❤
a red and green scrunchie! 💚❤
I found the same type of T-shirt yarn at the dollar store. Much smaller skein though... I used a few of them and made myself a cute little purse...
It’d be much better for a purse I bet.
Favorite Thanksgiving food - sweet potato crunch. And I’m working on a CAL Christmas blanket. About 3/4 of the way done. Ready to be finished with it!
I’m so intrigued by sweet potato crunch. I’ve never heard of that
As someone who got into crochet because of The Woobles, it was great for what it was intended for, beginners.
Love Lily cameos! So cute!!
She demands to be included lol. She’s the true star here
My mom made a dry rub on the turkey, and it was nice and moist.
Pumpkin rolls! My grandma makes those. So good. I haven’t attempted them myself yet.
Oh trust me you should. I will warn you though, they are not the easiest to make because my mom tries changing the recipe sometimes but it always ends up failing a little bit or we have to change it to a cake instead so just a warning lol.
i started with woobles and i thought it was great for beginners as it doesn’t split, but now i would way rather use another type of
I managed to split the Woobles yarn with the hook that they provided - while trying to make my stitches tight.
Your dog is so cute.
I would love to try that yarn. I am beginning my journey with crocheting animals.
Love green bean casserole! And after reading the comments, I really want to try a woobles hook 😂
Some are saying it’s good some not so much but the consensus is it’s cute lol
Appears very similar to the home decorating yarn, I think it was Bernat, that I tried. It made a great bathroom rug. Soft and squishy on the feet and I enjoyed working with it. I don’t think i would be happy using for amigurumi, not soft and fuzzy enough for me.
I’ve been waiting for this video!! Woobles got me started with crochet so I’m very excited to see your opinion!
Sorry it wasn’t the highest opinion ever. It’s just not for me I think.
I was finishing up the first day in my wooble calendar!
she is cute i think it turned out great and there yarn is more for newbs! i also don't understand why they don't have their yarn on the site! iv got some of the kits but have not had time to try them yet and i bought some of the yarn on amazon and the lemon is on all the yarn labels ! im not a newbie but also not a pro and have not used my skills in a while, so i thought the kits would be a good refresher for me cus it is easier to see the stitches and wont split!
I'm not a beginner beginner but I love their kits and I've done so many. Lol. But I see some of the qualms people have about them.
Pistachio marshmallow fluff 😍 it's not desert!!
Thanksgiving.....sweet potato casserole, leave out the butter, cut back a bit on the sugar.....topped with the brown sugar and butter crumbled topping sprinkled with broken pecans!
This is interesting! I was just looking through a woobles pattern book that someone gifted me and I was curious about the yarn.
Hi, nice review. I'm working on Hunter green hand warmers. My son requested them. Have a blessed night.
I am working on a Christmas tree pillow, the pattern is from Wonder Crochet. Your cardigan looks so good ❤
Thank you! I meant to reference the fact that I have a whole video on it then completely forgot lol.
I was working on a brown highland cow, Hilde from Yarn Society
So what's your suggestion for beginner yarn (not personally a fan of a velvet/chenille look)?
Absolutely.
I love your sweater! Do you have a pattern?!
@@gracevictoria6555 I actually have a whole process video on how I made this. But the pattern is a hexagon cardigan pattern I got on a blog called hayhaycrochet and then I just freehanded the ribbing sections.
@ Thank you! I’ll be getting that perfect phasing yarn cause I need one of these sweaters!
I love using the Home Dec yarn for home accessories like rugs.
I feel like it’s really only worth that price for it being a good way to learn. A lot of people say it is anyway. I still haven’t bought a kit 😅
@ I hear you! I used to make a lot of blankets but now I only ever make baby blankets when a new niece or nephew is born
What size hook are you using? I feel like the 4mm that comes with the kits are too big and I get a lot of gaps when using the kits.
I did show it real quick but I used a 3.75 any smaller felt too tight. But they say to use a 5 which seems waaay too big
@Tfwcrochet oh I must've missed it! I do watch with my children and often have to re watch videos 3 or 4 times haha thank you!
Honestly I just want the cute themed crochet hooks.
Haha I have seen this sentiment a lot
@ The only other thing I can reasonably collect other than yarn is crochet hooks 😂
I bought Bjørn the narwhal and it was great
Yeah, i learned to crochet way before woobles came out. Like almost two decades ago. I got hooked into woobles via their advertising, tried it and couldnt finish a kit. For precisely the same reason as you, i couldnt stand the tensioning perfect, i want my stitches to be tighter. I hated seeing the holes so much.
Glad I’m not the only one!
I haven’t tried either t-shirt yarn or Woobles yet, but I do want to give them a try. I just finished a Herrschners Ami kit - the Chromatic cobra and I was surprised at how much I loved their cheerful fleece yarn. Would love to get your thoughts.
Oooo another kit to try!? Sign me up lol. I have been loving trying kits even if I don’t love the kit itself.
I have bought the kits and I think it was worth it for the amount I payed because I got 6 woobles and got a free hook for about $120 😅
Always had mixed thoughts about the woobles in general.
I think it’d be better for other stuff besides Ami too!
They sell the easy peasy yarn on Amazon.
I found out abt it but my biggest turnoff was that the cheapest I could find was £35!
Thank you!! I’m a fake ginger. My real hair was blondish brown before it went gray but I love being red. ❤️
