Hoping the weld will hold tho, dont think the TUV will agree :)
Sorry if this sounds harsh, that is not my intention, just trying to help out. You installed them wrong. It's not possible to install E39 coilovers into the E34 strut housings without doing machine work to the E39 coilover (taking 1-1.5mm off). It actually has to sit way lower in the strut housing body to work and lower the car properly. Ask me how I know. haha There is no point in coilovers if they are set all the way down and ride on bumpstops most of the time. I recommend taking the fronts apart and redoing them properly. Well, none of this applies if the ride height you have now is good enough for you. In that case, it would have been more simple to just install E34 coilovers instead of doing all this work.
I know this is not the best way of installing coils on e34, but I don`t care so much about the height, just want it to be stiffer, this is a beater project so ride quality is not the biggest issue :) Also E34 Coilovers are expensive. This costed me 200 euros.
Welding on a Shock/Strut like that can't be good for it. You could've always just gone with the JOM coilover kit that is made for an E34 that doesn't require welding. You just have to cut off the upper spring perch. (check out how their front spring is shaped) I understand you wanted stiff for Drift or whatever, but good suspension does not have to be "Coilovers" like so many think just so they can get lows. Im running FK springs/Bilstein Tourings on my 525i and it is a great combo. Sure it's still compliant, rides very well, and really quite low so I like it. Wonder how long those front dampers are going to last, I bet not long.
Ta-technix is bad idea for winter because when it’s -20 celsius outside...wery bumpy ride even in good condition road 😃 aand in next summer those shocks are almost gone if you drive in winter.
Waiting to see how Greta drifts with her new "legs". Nice. And you said it. Worthed for a beater. An as always, if you enjoy it, gives you pleasure, its worthed. For a non car guy, filling up isnt worthed, just a "painfull must" to get from A to B. Its a fun-car, for having fun, doing your hobby. Sow me ONE hobby, that is cheap, and "worth it", 'couse I cant even think about one. If you like fishing.... You spend a half fortune on the starter pack, not to say for the upcoming equipment, bait etc. From that money you could eat salmon for the rest of your life, every day. You get my point. Nice beater, waiting for the vids (but I really miss your E36 compact beatee😥)
Almost all BMW cars share same parts, I guess it would be better job in case you wanted to get new set of coilovers or maybe when selling it would rise the wish from the buyer to have it. Just my opinion, btw it is a cool boosted car!
Hvis du hadde kappa de orginale delene mer så hadde du hatt samme problemet, du trenger ei kortere fjør. Kapp eller finne noe i samme spec bare kortere lengde.

I have Ta-Tehnix coil overs on my audi a4 b5, have them on for like 4-5 years still going strong.
i had them on 2 e36 and honestly for cheap coilovers they are very good for the price.
