    I'm in Little Rock, Arkansas - this guy, David Paul, is the absolute best at explaining all of the details of why things happen during a Hurricane! Please keep David Paul on weather matters! I will check with KHOU 11, even from Little Rock, Arkansas, on weather matters! Thanks for the outstanding explanations of storm issues! Love it!

      Another great place for weather is Ryan Hall Y'all. He does daily updates and has storm chasers live once landfall gets closer. He goes live then and will stay on for hours.

      David Paul and Tim Pandajis are honestly my #1 and #2 for all major weather events and national weather phenomena even from California. Tim isn't quite as good as David at explaining everything but he's really coming into his own and it'd be a shame if KHOU let either of them go.

      During Carla we had not near the technology to track storms as we do today. It's like a Computer model now vrs. wetting you finger and sticking your finger in the air in the 1960's.

      Right now I don't care about politics or how the Republican party is taking away our freedoms without any vote but if you live in Florida here's a tip take a empty 2 L ( as many as you want) fill it with water about 1/3 of the way then freeze it if you lose power it'll help keep your refrigerator cool and when it melts you got cold drinking water.

    Was a longtime resident of Florida if todays forecast pans out, wow so bad for Tampa South. Please don't die stupidly evacuate. This will not be cool to hangout in. Could be weeks without power in some places

    Appreciate the constant updates from KHOU11, my parents are in Florida so I have been checking in with them. Making sure that they move off the west coast until the storm passes.

    Most of us Floridians are like:
    "Cat 3 hurricane? Eh, no problem. We do this all of the time."
    "Oh, cat 4 hurricane... Ok, it's time to GTFO"

      Yeah but michael was supposed to weaken when it hit land. But it didn't. By the time it GTFO time it was too late for a lot of people.

      @@Hy-Brasil that's true, I remember sitting at home watching the weather and it was just sitting in the gulf getting stronger. It wasn't supposed to be a Cat 5, but it definitely became one before landfall

      Categories are not the most dangerous about a hurricane its the storm surge. Texans were reminded of that in Ike. I think that caused them to change the way they forecast storms. The categories are only wind speed.

    I lived in Sarasota County (Venice) for 20 years until 2020 when I moved to NC. I hope everyone is paying close attention to these forecasts. My thoughts are with everyone. If you are evacuating please take your pets. I hope you all will be safe I know it is scary!

    At 74 years of age and having watched/listened to meteorologists forecast hurricanes (I am a Floridian), I have never seen anyone who comes close to David Paul in getting information out in a really understandable way. He is a truly impressive teacher!! Thank you, Mr. Paul!

    the really interesting thing is that in the past few years, there have been storms that stall out in their northern motion. it would be quite interesting to see a hurricane stall out over the warm water, and continue to expand and intensify before making landfall.

    I grew up in Kansas with tornados. I think the hurricane threat would send me packing! Between the surge and the rainfall, wow! Yes, you get head notice, sorta, but how do you prepare to potentially lose everything? It's gonna blow away, wash away or just plain soak up the water. I'm in NE Wyoming now... safe.       Plus not everyone has the means to evacuate. It's expensive.

    HI to everyone..praying that everyone is ok after the hurricane. My G/f worked for Disney and have gone thru hurricanes. I have a TIP... put all of your important papers in zip lock bags and put them in the dishwasher!! its somewhat water tight,,sending hugs to all from Ct xo

    If Ian hits Tampa and pushes store surge into the bay it will be devastating. Tampa has not had a direct hurricane hit in a hundred years. This storm reminds me of the 2005 hurricane season and Hurricane Charlie which was on a direct course for Tampa, but turned right just hours before landfall, hitting Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte. I doubt we will be that lucky with Hurricane Ian.
