I would like to see the legends still able to drive a car.. Have a race before Daytona. Too many to name. And Dale Jarrett show up in the big brown truck.
Rusty has been my driver since I was like 6 years old when I first saw that midnight MGD car. I’d love to see him race in some capacity again. Shame it sounds like it’ll never happen.
No, so much has changed since the good old days. I think they should put the retired drivers out there in a race if their own in the old school NASCAR... back when it made sense.
Awesome news for Rusty. He was my favorite driver for many years until he retired and I had the chance to meet him several times at the Edelweiss in Pocono
I really love to listen to him on MRN when I catch a race. He explains everything so well and when they ask his opinion on something, I feel like there is no spin. Glad he had a great weekend. He deserves it!
I think the same thing.i remember when he did tv for espn.i don't know if he was just new at it and kinda held back or what but he is great on radio.they said when the new TV deals get done another network may get 6 races.i hope they give rusty another shot at tv.
@@StudioDaVeed Actually Kyle Busch is very knowledgeable and tells it like it is. You may not always like what he says, but at least he has the guts to stand up and say it!
I used to work for Rusty’s PR man. RW has always had the talking skills and was a hands on driver. I think now they just put on a uniform and drive the car. It’s just not the same anymore. It does not even have the family feel. We need more Rusty’s out there.
I remember Rusty at Sears Point in 1992. Of all the drivers in that race it was only him and Alan Kulwicki that went to the fence afterward and greeted us fans. Rusty really had the crowd going too. He was one of the most genuine people ever to race. You could tell he truly loved what he did.
Rusty is one of my childhood heros. I had clips out of SCR and Circle Track magazines on the walls of my bedroom of all the big 90s racing historic moments. He was a big part of that. He deserves every award coming to him. Bless your family. A solid part of racing history.
My brother was a true Rusty fan. He passed away & left me his Rusty collection. Lots of stuff. Rusty is the best. Love to find a buyer for all this stuff.
I still remember feeling so proud I was a Rusty Wallace fan watching him jump from the roof onto the bear on the hood of his Kodiak 27 after winning his championship. I'm still a big NASCAR fan, and I have drivers that I like to see win more than others, but Rusty was the last driver that I ever called MY driver. So happy for him continuing to succeed beyond his driving years. I do wish he would reconsider running an SRX race or two.
Very nice to see Rusty - he seems so much more relaxed than when he was driving years ago. It did not look like there were many fans in the stands at the Las Vegas race today even though the weather was beautiful. Was a extremely boring race to watch on TV unfortunately.
Everyone was in Dallas watching Tony Stewart's wife Leah Pruett win Top Fuel and take over the World Championship points lead and her teammate Matt Hagen win Funny Car and extend his points lead. This was Tony's first double up. Took the sting out of losing his own World Championship bid, when Julie Nataas won the semi-finals in her A/Fuel car. Julie went on to win the event. She also won her third consecutive Jeg's All-Star Championship Saturday.
Great stuff. The Ken Schrader story, never knew he was missing; a thumb. Had to hurt a bit. I nipped the tip of my finger off along with shaving the side of the bone(middle finger, right hand) when i was a plastics fabricator around 79. We had this new fangled plastic called lexan, and i was making windshields and rear spoilers for a lot of local guys out here in Vegas for their A cars (late models today). To this day if my hands get real cold that buggar smarts just like the day i did it, was no fun at all!
For the younger race fans out there the racing you see today is completely different from when Rusty raced to say the least. When Rusty was a young man racing they needed to win or place well to continue racing and pay their bills. Back then the price money was their main source of income which put them under intense pressure. The cars were simpler and more dangerous and much harder to drive again adding more pressure on the teams and the drivers. That is why you saw driver fights and crew fights more often. Pressure has a way of making you lash out when you've been done wrong. It was just so different!! So much it is hard to explain.
I’m Rusty’s biggest Puerto Rican fan…I own three of his die cast cars, one Rusty autographed before his last Daytona 500…I’ll be attending the Rusty Wallace Experience at Bristol Saturday afternoon…Congratulations Rusty, thanks for the awesome memories.
What a happy guy! Hidden inside that racing shell in the garage all those years. Gotta love Rusty! Kenny Schrader I've seen and heard from Dale Jr's podcasts. Big heart and great stories! These Legends are wonderful people, not simply good drivers. Retirement probably feels great, too.
I've followed rusty through out his career even when rusty was coming up through the ranks and I've been a rusty Wallace fan ever since he came into nascar when rusty came into nascar in 1984 I've been a fan of nascar
Kenny!, lol. Some guy did a video of midnight, ahhh man to hear that engine start up is so incredible. Climb back into the seat and feel it rumble is just like yesturday.
I went to the Rockingham race in October of 1999 and we were watching happy hour when I heard that Rusty was going to be at his merchandise truck to sign autographs. So I left happy hour and went there and waited in line for him to sign my Rusty hat, when I got up there for him to sign it I was absolutely star struck and couldn’t even get out a simple “thank you” as a 13 year old boy. I stopped watching racing for the most part when he retired, he is a true legend in every way.
Your brother is one of my all time favorites an I always love to hear what your brother has to say an rusty was my dad driver back in the day an I loved your brother as a driver to an love the man he is today rusty is awesome
Remember years ago going with my Boss to Valley Park! He was a huge Russell Wallace fan. I ask him about Rusty, Russ’s boy. He said ahh he won’t amount to nothing. Rusty beat his dad that nite. Wow! Was my boss mad!
That’s funny, I’ve Rusty out before the race in Vegas back in 04 Also saw D W before that same race They were out on golf carts About 15min apart Rolled right through They gave a Wave , Rusty even quickly shook My hand as He cruised by Stuck His hand out Then waved to everyone as he bent the corner D W did after We rootin & a tootin 😁

I want an picture with you and Rusty Wallace, greetings from Viña del Mar , Chile , an city of big beaches 😊
I grew up and lived in Iowa for 53 years, and now for the last 2 years have lived in Orlando, Florida. Being from the Midwest, racing was huge for me. My Dad was involved in Dirt Late Model Racing, and I have been at the track since I was 3 months old. 2 of the biggest names in asphalt late model racing were Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace. These two were the epitome of late model racing. There also was Dick Trickle, Mike Eddy, Alan Kulwicki, Bob Senneker, and a few others that battled race after race. Best racing ever in my opinion.
Very cool. Funny, I think my son still has one of the Elvis die casts I bought him at the inguinal Vegas race. The locals working in the hotels/casino's had no idea why all these people were in town. Rusty being the salesman he's always been; selling the popularity of NASCAR....I had to laugh, not with these "IROC" cars and the rule book.
Congratulations Rusty so happy to hear the news. We still miss seeing the Miller car on track. Those days were epic.
Love Rusty Wallace!!! Miss seeing him race but good to hear him on the race broadcast 👍🏼
😊 So damn happy to see Rusty anytime! Been my #1 since his ASA days. Thank you Kenny!
My all time favorite driver.
You gotta honor the legends of the sport while they are still here to share the stories. Kenny you are a legend yourself 🎉🎉

All the old drivers are afraid of not being great. It’s not about us fans they can’t watch the field drive by.
No, so much has changed since the good old days. I think they should put the retired drivers out there in a race if their own in the old school NASCAR... back when it made sense.
Miss seeing Rusty drive especially against Earnhardt always a big fan #2 Miller Geniune Draft (A Car named Midnight 😊)
Sure enjoy listening to Rusty, great racer, great man,and I'm still a Steven Wallace fan,not to mention Mike and The Herminator.
Congratulations Rusty, i have always been a fan of yours. 1st time seeing you race was at Springfield Illinois Fairgrounds in the 70's✌️

Love old school drivers like Rusty

rusty earned it, just started watchin nascar when he won the first championship in the raymond beadle car.think it was 89.
I'm from the St Louis area Rusty had to be our favorite driver
Good Lord I miss Rusty Racing. The best era of Nascar was late 80's to around the early 2000's
Been a Rusty Wallace fan since ASA at the Milwaukee mile in the 80s

How many championships 😂😂
One more than you will ever have 😂
I have 2 of his Elvis cars and many more, also have a Piston Clock all signed by Rusty I worked at a dealership when he came.
He made me love NASCAR . Nascar is going in the wrong direction. Ticket sales are not near as they sold in the 80's and 90's.
Hey R Wallace
Congratulations 🎉
Herm sent me 🤣😂
Awesome congrats.
He was my favorite driver as well, I have all his die cast cars, And his brother Kenny.
Back in the day I had Rustys blue #2 decal on the back window of our conversion van! Time flys.

I enjoyed when Rusty would bring Midnight out. That was his day. Rusty was my driver till he retired. I met him in North Carolina. 😊
Rusty dawg is a true legend! Miss cheering for him on n race day. I remember me and the boys wanting whoop Gordon’s ass so bad for that bump & run!!
That’s funny, I’ve Rusty out before the race in Vegas back in 04
Also saw D W before that same race
They were out on golf carts
About 15min apart
Rolled right through
They gave a Wave , Rusty even quickly shook My hand as He cruised by
Stuck His hand out
Then waved to everyone as he bent the corner
D W did after We rootin & a tootin

I may have it backwards
On the 1 who actually stuck their hand out right quick 🤔

Went to Phoenix once and with a hand full of laps left the race was rained out. Rusty was so far out there he would have won anyway.
Mark Beat Rusty again!! Lol jk Herm

Why isn't Rusty in the Fox Booth is a Mystery!! Rather have him in the Booth than Harvic!!
Rusty s a good guy I was around for his whole Winston cup career those were good years in NASCAR I'm not really a big fan of it nowadays
Herm great inter View

I love Rusty. My NASCAR hero. Don’t watch anymore
Nice to see rusty enjoying life. I think he retired from driving at the right time.
Miss the Blue Deuce 👍
Blue max and Raymond Beadle Kodiak Pontiac!
What was the huge news?
He was the 2023 Speedway Legend
I hope roger at least said hi to rusty. Mark said nobody from roush, not even jack, stopped by to say hello or anything when he did it. So messed up.
Some of these guys ask the dumbest questions....why not ask about going to the grass at the Glen in 88.
What they called that Clickbait!! Lol. Dammit I thought they was gonna announce that he was starting a team or something lol
