I don’t think Rusty realizes how much he means to us NASCAR fans. I’ve looked up to Rusty since I was a little kid, and consider him one of my idols. Miss seeing him out there on Sundays, it’s not the same without him. Can’t wait to meet Rusty someday! Great episode Herm!
Yes! Class is what many more of the drivers of that era had.
Sure, there were some tiffs but that happens in all familes.
NARCAR used to seem a lot more like family and that was because of the drivers like Rusty.
I climbed the fence to be in victory lane with Rusty at Rockingham. He is the best but his beer gives me headaches.
We’re gonna need a part 2! Cheers!!
Awesome! Rusty is the reason I became a NASCAR fan nearly 30 years ago, and you're the reason why I'm still one today. Cheers buddy!
Me too
Years ago Rusty was here in our town for an autograph session. The sponsors specifically said no photos because of the time but even though that was said he was gracious enough to take the time to take pictures with the kids. My 3 year old son was one of them. He's 28 now.
Rusty raced when racing was dangerous. He was always running on the edge. Nothing but respect for Rusty. Always enjoyed you.
1983.... ASA... Man if only we could go back!!!
Kenny I just love these interviews. These are going to be priceless in years to come. Thank you for bringing us along to hear these amazing stories. Means Alot. Thanks Kenny
I still think the Miller Genuine Draft car was one of the best looking cars ever.
That car and the Black 3 is what I think of when I think 90's NASCAR. Both Awesome!!
Them Wallace's good guy we were kids they weld
bikes up go-cart they could ride wheelie for miles entertained us from beginning of time good FRINDS
ANDNEIGHBORS
Good graphic design is timeless and that’s what made it- among a few others- so iconic.
@steveyork8069, Rusty's Midnight was the best chassis in NASCAR history.
Yessss!!!!!
The MGD car … best looking car ever. Rusty… one of the greatest ever and in my opinion underrated. Forever a Rusty fan!!
Hey Kenny, you CAN do another hour with Rusty anytime!!!
Yess!!!! Please
Became a Rusty fan when he was in ASA, followed him all the way to the last race of his life. I have to say one of the best times I've ever had was on a Rusty cruise. I was in his fan club and went. He was involved with his fans the whole time. Miller Lite was his sponsor then. I will admit I still have a picture of me and him from that cruise on my wall today. I'm still dedicated. Thank you Kenny for making me smile the entire hour 😊😢
As an old Earnhardt fan I love listening to Rusty. He is definitely a legend.
I met your brother at Bristol 30 minutes before the race. He was standing by his car and took time to answer our questions. I said how do you do this. He stated we better take time because of fans we can can do this!!! I will never forget him taking time for us.
The Wallace Family Fine American Family! 🏎🏁🏆🏆
When Rusty was practicing in Loudon NH my wife and I were at the track in 1994. One of his pit crew ran across the track and handed me 5 of the lug nuts he just took off the car. He said "careful" they're hot! Holy cow! I still have a burn scar on my left palm. It was worth it. He was my wife's favorite driver.
Always been a fan of the 2 car and Rusty. I met Rusty at Bristol when he won both Bristol races that year. I had pit access and hung out in your pits both races. Loves watching those. The deal where Ernhart threw that bottle at you after the race was epic after you won!!
Rusty was my favorite driver from around 1990 until he retired. There hasn’t been another since.
Great job Kenny. Rusty is my all time favorite driver. Thanks so much for doing this.
Rusty .. the Legend! Watched him and Alan Kulwicki race at the Milwaukee Mile in mid 1980's.
Herm great to hear you and Rusty.I always liked you both as drivers even tho I’m a Schrader fan. But all of you are just good guys they don’t make them like you all anymore so L O L. You the man Herm.
Rusty Wallace is the reason I got hooked on NASCAR! When I talk racing with newbies I show them Rusty! Thank you Herm!
A true treat of an interview!👍👍👍
I love this. Anything with Rusty I’m all in. I was born in 87 and my parents were huge Earnhardt fans so naturally I picked Rusty as my favorite driver.
Thank You Rusty for some GREAT NASCAR memories! I always backed you and I was one of your biggest fans. I had the pleasure of meeting you an having dinner with you at a Miller Distributors rewards event at Darlington S. C. You we’re always a class act. You take care of yourself and enjoy your retirement.
The chill i got when Rusty talked about Mr France at the hospital after Dale's accident. Rusty, Kenny, thank you for this
Much more like family than business.
Rusty, thank you for all the years of respectable racing and being someone a young kid in the 90's could look up to. I'm a big Keselowski fan, but that #2 will always be Rusty Wallace in my heart.
The Wallace Name To NASCAR Is As Important As The Names, Alison, Petty, Earnhardt, Unser, Hamilton, Martin, Jarrett, Gordon, Labonte, Waltrip, And Many, Many, Others. Very High Likability/Respect Factor. Rusty Always Raced Clean. Kenny Pushed Dale to a Win @ Talladega in Oct. 2000! Great, Great Memories! Thank You Kenny.
Rusty is and always will be my favorite nascar driver!! I started watching watching NASCAR in 1993. I was 4 years old, and I’ll never forget watching him win in person at Martinsville! I even had a number 2 cut into my hair at one time! I’m still a NASCAR fan and watch every week, but still to this day when people ask me who my favorite driver is, my answer is Rusty Wallace! I’ve been waiting for this episode since your first episode! Keep ‘em coming Kenny!
Kenny Wallace......thank you so much for what you are doing. Really enjoying these conversations!
Rusty was my guy! Still is. Pulled for him his whole career. It was a sad day for me and I'm sure for others, when he retired. Glad to see him enjoy his retirement though. Still handsome as ever, too. 🙂🏁🏁❤ Thank you Herm for this interview...this girl appreciates it 👍
Kenney, Great interview with Rusty. He was my mom's favorite. The only thing I wished you had asked him was about the water bottle he threw at Earnhardt after the race was over at Bristol. Ironhead won and in victory circle, Rusty threw a water bottle at him for what happened on the track. Again, awesome show. Hope you can get some of the older retired drivers on the show. Keep up the good work Herman.
Keep these coming. Until he went to Dodge, he was one of my Ford guys. Another great gentleman racer. Love to hear from him and his thoughts. Keep these 90s/early 2k driver talks (conversations) coming Kenny, please. :)
I was always a Rusty Wallace fan. Love watching and learning more about Rusty. Kenny Great show, keep doing what you are doing. Love the Wallace family
I miss the Era of Epic NASCAR names!! Rusty Wallace is such an Epic Name for a Driver!
My favourite driver, and he got me stuck on Nascar!!! Nascar needs more of Rusty, and you too Kenny!!!
Was blessed to see Rusty’s final night race at Bristol. A late caution cost him a win in that race.
Thanks for the great memories!
Always pulled for the whole Wallace family! All class acts!
Rusty always greatly cared about his people.
Rusty is a member at a Country Club in Linville NC that I worked at for 10 years. First time I met him, he had AC/DC playing from his golf cart! He always talked to me and treated me great. First class guy!
Excellent Interview with your Brother Rusty tonight Kenny.
Y'all make my Heart smile ❤😊 .
Till the next time.
God Bless and Keep y'all safe.
I'm a Rusty #2 fan till the end of time
Thanks Rusty for all the great years of racing entertainment
Thank you Kenny.
Great Family and Legends always part of the Sport. Rusty a tough one and hell of a driver
This one was fantastic. Rusty is interesting and honest. Great stuff
Rusty, even though I wasn't ever a fan, I have the ultimate respect for you and your personality. It took your retirement for me to really understand and respect you. God Bless you and your family and good luck in your businesses.
Good To See Rusty.......and hearing the old stories
I live about an hour or so away from Morristown, TN, and I bought a Toyota Tacoma from his Toyota dealership in 2012. It was a Speedway blue quad cab. Boy, I loved that truck. Tacoma's are my favorite, but sadly due to financial reasons I had to sell it back. This time it went to his GMC store just down the road in Morristown. That dealership even fixed it after my husband had wrecked it one day. I have been a fan of the Wallace brothers for a long time, and Rusty is my number one. Also I've followed whoever drove the duce ever since. Brad has been my favorite driver of the 2 since Rusty. Cindric is great, but I'm more of a Brad fan now since Rusty's retirement. Lastly I met Rusty a couple of times in Morristown years ago.
Great show Kenny .My first Nascar race was the Dover fall race jn 1994 .That is when i began to being a Rusty Wallace fan. This was one of your best shows . It was great to see and hear Rusty again. Thanks again Kenny GOD bless keep up the great programs
Kenny I really enjoyed this so much. I think you did the right thing be having him now and not first. Tell Rusty I miss the old Nascar days.
Yep Rusty means so much to us NASCAR fans even us Gordon ones♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👍😀
Happy Thanksgiving to him, you, Mike and your whole family 👍😀♥️ We love you all!
Please have Rusty on lots more in 2024♥️♥️ Thanks Kenny ♥️
Rusty was and is still my favorite driver. When he quit driving, it took all the fun out of Nascar for me. Rusty, God bless you brother!
I still remember when Rusty was using valve springs made in Japan and killing the comp at short tracks. I'm still smiling about that!
Rusty was my favorite driver since I started watching at the end of 92, start of 93. My dad brought me a hero card from the 500 one year. I really enjoyed this interview, miss that 2 car with him in it. I've met him several times and he's such a nice, down to earth guy, but my favorite and funniest encounter was when I was a manager at Harris Teeter in Cornelius, I heard this unmistakable laugh and had no choice but to go out the register he and the family were checking out at. I just said a simple hello and was on cloud nine the rest of the day.... And this was right before Thanksgiving, so needless to say I was thankful I got to see Rusty again 😂 Thanks for all you fellas do for the sport ❤
I love how you guys never forget where you come from and the people it helped you along the way
Rusty!!!! As a long time Rusty fan I appreciate you doing this interview Kenny. Y'all could've gone another hour. I wouldn't have minded. lol
Waycool!..............Enjoyed that immensely, just 2 great guys.
Rusty Wallace welcome back and I glad to see you and midnight back
Back into st Louis MO
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME episode. I've been waiting patiently for this one and having your brother on the show you shouldn't worry about time, I think people would've watched this episode for at least 2 hours....and that would still be tolerable. Love listening to these stories.
Great interview….Kenny and Rusty Wallace two of my favorite drivers of all time for the class that they brought to the sport! Ric
That was awesome Kenny! I loved listening to you and Rusty talk about everything. Thank you so much.
And yes I saw that year in 2005 and Rusty Wallace The Legend definitely went out on top without question. He was competitive asf.
"Deal" is such an Iconic Rusty word lol "He had his Deal and I had my Deal"
Awesome show Kenny dang good to here Rusty tell stories
another great kenny conversation. rusty deserves those hall of fame.
That’s awesome. I know I watched a little late, but Kenny having your brother on with really awesome.
Loved listening to rusty on the radio during practice. He gave great feedback. Learned a lot about what was happening
I just absolutely love you and Rusty so much. And thank you so much for having Rusty on your show Kenny
Rusty has always been my Favorite driver... I just love both Kenny & Rusty...!!! Great show..!!
Rusty was my favorite for many years til he retired. I got to meet him several times on pit road, at his souvenir trailer and also at Edelweiss in Pocono. I have a Rusty Wallace wall in my sunroom. ❤️
Good show, I've always been a Rusty fan, still have all my Rusty Wallace memorabilia in the man cave.
Please have more Kenny and Rusty interviews !! I love both the long and short ones. Could listen to you guys all day !
Happy Birthday Kenny. I turned 71 today so i am an old dog for sure.
Kenny you and Rusty were so needed in the sport. Rusty was really Earnhardt's only legitimate competition from 87-95, i miss that kind of racing where inovation mattered much more than today...just my opinion. Herman you were born to talk racing on the Internet. Great interview. So glad to see you guys again. Keep on truckin brother
This was a great one. I just now saw it today. Loved hearing Rusty talk about Dale. I was a Dale fan, and NOT a Rusty fan, but i always respected him. This was a gem Herm!
I live in Knoxville with all the rusty dealerships. He’s forsure one of my NASCAR idols
I always rooted for Rusty my older brother rooted for Earnhardt
Never was a fan of Rusty but I tell ya.. ever since he retired he’s seemed so much happier.. smiles more. Just overall seems more laid back. Good to see.
Love the Wallace Bros!!
Great interview with The Champ & a Great job by Herman! 💪😎
#SNAKEisstillTheGOAT!!
Awesome! Definitely need part 2!! Thanks guys!!
I think one of the best things Rusty ever did I remember one time he stood up and gave a speech about fans and drivers signing autographs he explained all or most of the drivers will sign them but there are times when we are at the track we have to be to site a and site b at certain times and we can't always stop and sign and you must understand that when we have time we will stop and sign for them I think he gained as much respect from me for that as anything
Great interview really enjoy it 👍
Excellent show!
Thank you very much!
Love me some Rusty Wallace. We need part 2
Wasn’t a Rusty fan but mad respect to one of the best to ever grab the wheel 🍻
Great interview! I was a Jeff Gordon fan, but Iiked others including Rusty. You learn a lot more about a driver after they have retired and it is a privilege to hear their stories. I wish you could have interviewed Dale Sr.
Huge Rusty fan....I graduated high school in 93....wore number 2 in football and baseball.....got in trouble in class for talking once .....I was talking about the talladega wreck with my friend hehehe
Being from the Bristol area and a NASCAR fan Rusty will forever be the man!!! I remember the drivers staying at the Holiday Inn in Johnson City back in the 90s!! I still remember when Bristol had the big grass hill and Rusty ruled Bristol!!! Every Bristol race Rusty was always in the top 5 if not the winner! Rusty is a NASCAR pillar, icon, legend. Rusty is the reason, along with a few others, that put NASCAR where it is today!! Hell, think about it, you can’t think about Roger Penske without Rusty!
Dang I'd watch 10 hours of you and Rusty
How cool he won the cup championship the year I was born. and I'm from Talladega Alabama
I'm here. Let's Rock
Love you Rusty was great to see you
TWO GREAT HUMAN BEINGS.
Ru sty was my favorite.driver for many years. It was always great to watch him and Dale race. Remember when they took eachother out on the way to the checkers.
Thanks Kenny
Great show. I was always a fan of Rusty. Didn't want him to retire when he did but there comes a time to end it. I am his age. Went to watch him race and never did get to meet him in person. That sucked.
My first ever nascar race I was 5 on my dads shoulders as Rusty flipped through the Talledega grass right in front of me.
I always enjoyed watching Rusty and have enormous respect for him. I didn’t know he was a capable mechanic / engineer but does that go unsaid talking about nascar drivers his age? I imagine it does more than not. Did I want him to say drivers today need a famous, rich daddy or sponsor ? Kinda did bc I think that way….I will do the motorcycle ride with Rusty eventually. I keep missing it & living in NC I shouldn’t ever miss it. Good stuff, love MRN
Thanks kenny, hes one most talented to ever race nascar and he was a clean driver he drove around cars not thru them
YES!!! Rusty Wallace interview.
And NOW you need to have Rusty (or someone else) do an interview with Rusty's little brother Kenny)
I grew up about an hour south of Eldora , My Dad and I sat on the first row of bleachers behind the flag man at the inaugural World 100. Remember it like it was yesterday.
Love you guys grew up watching you guys the best!!
I met Rusty at Ks Speedway in
2001
Got a signed hood in my garage and and all kinds of stuff of his
Kenny this was your best show ever. I could listen to you and Rusty for hours. It would be amazing if you, Mike and Rusty did the show together
Great interview of a hall of fame Thunderbird Driver.
