I would say, Isaac, that's because Radio Raheem genuinely believes that love can conquer hate whereas Powell used that speech as a way to further sucker people into believing he was a genuine man of God. Both iterations are brilliantly portrayed by Bill Nunn here and Robert Mitchum in "Night of the Hunter", but it ultimately feels more relatable here for the reason I noted.

I've always been a fan of 90s New York and LA based films and now I'm currently in New York and it is like being in a movie set, except everything is actually real life! I'm going to Brooklyn Bridge tomorrow and can't wait to see more areas like this neighbourhood!

It looks like somebody traveled back in time recorded this on an iPhone. That’s what makes this scene so special.

Love this scene, especially with being the only scene Raheem is adamant and positive about something. Its like Mookie naturally brought it out with love. Raheem with the black power fist and the goofy smile like he's trying to hold it in just makes it feel much more genuine.
