BEAUTIFUL whistle! Just imagine that whistle echoing through the mountains!
and that whistle on the Santa Fe blue goose sounds like Rio grande 2-8-2 Mikado #497.
You kind of already can if you turn down the volume and use the quilling whistle
The Whistle is so beautiful
and the engine to.
wow that's the best looking train AND the best sounding whistle I'VE EVER HEARD
That engine has a KILLER whistle!!!!!!!
Toby Pasman gonna love the sound of the whistle
It's scary how sweet it sounds
The whistle is a majestic whistle, my favorite whistle in all of trains.
That whistle on this Santa Fe blue goose hudson does sound like narrow gauge Rio grande 2-8-2 mikado #497 and I also sure like to see lionel model streamlined santa fe blue goose hudson #3460 & the matching streamlined passenger cars in three rail o scale with legacy style steam railsounds for the streamlined Santa Fe blue goose hudson steam locomotive as well as operating couplers and who knows what other features.
That's not just a locomotive. That's a work of art!
The whistle I think is the best feature
And I still like it to this day
Me too.
yes
I know I’m three years late but I really feel like they should rebuild the Blue Goose in real life like what they’re doing with the T1
The HELL WITH IT THAT'S going to be my first train set that was bought as complete set
I love the Blue Goose passenger train. What an inspirational train!
The best way is the use track design software to plan the layout. There are a number of free software packages (both MTH and Atlas make free software) as well as more advanced software that costs a little money. My favorite is RR Track, which runs around $100 or so.
Depends on what you're looking for. In terms of best deal for the money, MTH. In terms of high end details, probably Lionel. Of course, the absolute best passenger cars are, in my opinion, made by either Golden Gate Depot or Atlas. Weaver's are nice as well.
What a great sounding loco!
Boy the quilling of the whistle is great. Beautiful, and great review.
Super glad you pointed out the non-flickering of the headlight, I was pretty confused at first!
I for one thoroughly enjoyed it. I've watched a few of your videos and they give a good look at stuff that amazes me. Thanks for the info!
MTH also made a 4-8-4 version of the Blue Goose but except it was actually a Norfolk and Western J painted in Santa Fe Blue Goose colors.
Bill vu which is a trainz Creator makes the worst locomotives Rekins ever he made a blue goose by useing the J class and made it have a 4-6-4 wheel set and changes the color scheme into the blue goose it was utter crap
Beautiful set, the colors are really pop. The whistle sounds amazing. The front looks really cool too. Great video Eric!
Great review Eric! Love that paint job and the whistle is great on that engine. The low speed operation looks to be pretty good too. Thanks for sharing!
I have a "N" Scale version of this model, works great. This video is very interesting, very little difference in each model type. Thanks for sharing this video.
Beautiful engine and an excellent review. Thr Train Loft is one of my favorite stores to visit.
Wonderful whistle
Beautiful train! Great info. Thanks for all the great videos, Keep um coming.
I wanted to comment on your video because it is done with style . great narration and really attractive layout also . Thank You for posting it .
Beautiful set Eric! Thanks for the review!
I think will be my first passenger train purchase thanks giving the price points the paint job has sold me on getting one of these I think it also adds a lot of character to any O scale 3 rail layout
beautiful engine, and amazing vista dome
Great video as usual, Eric. I have this engine as well as the one Weaver did back in the 90's. Interestingly enough. I believe that Mike also did that model for Weaver as well. I just wish that some of the interior controls were lighted but the rule 17 lighting on the engine is cool. Keep up the great reviews.
Beautiful locomotive
WOW! Thanks for sharring loved watching the video! Beautiful set!
Awesome! This is at the top of my wife's must have list!
That's an incredible set!
Set you have is very beautiful
Eric, this was a great review. I had asked you before how the quilling whistle effect worked,I'd just like to say thank you for explaining it in this video.
Gorgeous streamliner
looks amazing.thank you for sharing eric.
Beautiful engine, very unique.
Magnificent and real value for money !
That whistle gave me chills

AWESOME review as always Eric!!!!! Love the Blue Goose set, it looks and sounds great! MTH did a great job with it! ... Whenever I'm in N.C. I always enjoy taking a drive to Winston Salem to visit Jeff at the Train Loft. He is a real nice guy and the store is sweet! He always keeps his store well stocked with all the goodies LOL! Anyways thanks for the awesome review bud and have a great one!
I love the sound of the whistle of the blue goose.
Me too
Cool! Great Review Eric
BFIMO about this user:
The BFIMO part ;)
Mth makes THE best trains ever! I'll probably be getting their new s1 passenger set that came out in the 2013 mth catalog
The Blue Goose is my favorite streamliner. I wish that it had been preserved instead of 3463. Either way, they could streamline 3463 and renumber it to 3460 and call it the Blue Goose.
Yeah! 👌
That's what I was thinking of.
GREAT review!!
You videos are always great!
I really like that whistle
This thing sounds beautiful and the crew dialogue is pretty funny especially I think I swallowed my watch
excellent review!
Thats one amazeing set, great sound, wotrh every $ you psid ,fantastic detailing , i agree with you on the livery its so nice..great review..
OMG I love passenger sets!
awesome set!
Nice video as always!
by far my favortite engine ever
Wow that is really awesome I’m so jealous I might have to get the set in 20 years when I’m living on my own
15:33
Savin this for me
(No I’m not stealing the recording)
Hi Eric...What a great video, you did it again, I don't know what to say but thanks...Frank
Great train set
I can't imagine why the ATSF would want to sacrifice this engine! It's absolutely beautiful! Out of all the streamlined locomotives that were lost to the world, the loss of this one is one of the biggest.
Well the ATSF intended to preserve this one but some of the paper work got mixed up and the one that's supposed to be scrapped is now the one that does excursions from LA to San Bernadino, also in my opinion I think that the loss of the NYC streamliners were the biggest losses
Thank you for the reply.
Does the one crew talk thing say, "I lost my spleen!" and "I swallowed my watch!"?
16:46 Man: I DROP MY THING! I think I fall out my watch!
Hey man love your trains reviews there amazing and is the Santa Fe "Blue Goose" maybe be your favorite engine
i love this train
If a person wanted, they could probably build a larger speaker box in the tender because there's plenty of room in there. Also, it uses one of the Veco speakers.
The 3460 was also nic-named “Blue Bird” on the ATSF Illinois Division. Then the Mae West.
Stellar!! Thanks loads!!
I have been watching your videos and just amazed in all the detail in some of the models...I did notice the smoke seems to be more visable in this model not sure if your using different fluid or just a better smoke unit...
Eric I would love for you to do something like R’s Trains an do a Sunday run day! I would also love to see the Blue Goose going across your steel bridge
i believe the whistle was recorded from a C&TS K-36, i dont know which one though
Hi Eric great video, i love youre reviews, if there is not the third rail how does the train get its power?
I would love to see this in G-Gauge!!!
In the video I explained that they're not really blinking. It's how the LED's look on camera. Has to do with them fram rate of the video vs. the refresh rate of the LED.
I wonder how accurate the paint job is on this engine. I would assume the cab interior would not be blue. The reflection off of the silver on the engine and tender is really cool.
Thanks for sharing, a dynamite package. That whistle is AWESOME! Why MTH never followed Lionel's lead with "drifting chuff" is a mystery? Steam engines usually coast into the station on arrival, only chuffing under load. OH WELL ... Great video.
The one in Topeka is AT&SF 3463
Omg the bell sounds like my own NYC 4-6-4 steam locomotive.
Hi Eric, one question, how is the low speed operation? From the video it looks exceptional! Will it go down to 2 scale mph? Thank you Eric and I enjoyed the review!
A great reveiw of the locomotive. Do you like MTH or Lionel best? Thanks for your time
I love your Santa Fe super cheif
I love the detail of locomotive and tender's sleek strealined design it's verry vissually pleasing
Hi Eric I just realized you have never done a blue comet train and I like how you give alittle history lesson on your reviews did you do on that I haven’t seen yet?!
Do you think you may be able to do a review of the mth prr m1a mountain type locomotive. Thanks
Would you considering doing a review or even thought on video for the Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer set? Im planning on getting it and i’d love to hear your thoughts
15:07: QUILL THAT WHISTLE!!!
When you reviewed the Erie Triplex You said “If it was MTH Is Best to wait until later when We do the PFA”
"Thank you"
You have lots of great stuff on a awesome layout! I have some questions though. How do you pay for all these trains? they look really expensive. How much time do you spend working on the layout? And finally, does your family like trains too? It seems they would letting you convert the basement into a massive train layout. Great stuff Eric!
I wish to have it for my birthday.
I'd personally go with O scale if you can, you get much "bigger" sound, by that I mean they use larger speakers and there engines have more realistic bass. But with HO you'd save some money. It all depends on what you like.
The tender of the Blue Goose engine looks like a Norfolk & Western style tender.
Do you run your trains at full speed? also nice set i am starting a model rr but i dont know what scale to start with can you help me?
That's good. Do you think MTH did a good job with bass in the sound with this engine? Sorry for the questions.
For all the detail and excellent reproductions, it is a shame that Lionel cant come up with more realistic looking track.
ok thanks i only have 2 choices ho or n scale i might go with ho because it is bigger
Eric, I have the MTH DCS system and I want to do the quilling whistle but I cannot seem to find the SPW key on my remote. Do I need to have my remote upgraded for this feature?
Why would you want to do that? Are you talking about switching the electro coupler out for a scale coupler?
"I dropped my spleen" "I think I swallowed my watch" Haha.
Great review, that whistle is wonderful. All these extra sound features must be associated with PS3. I can`t find them on PS2.
