Wonderful remodel but I really wish you would’ve washed the stains on the outside brick or added more paint. It really makes it look like it’s an old paint job.

The ‘Dragon’s claw’ pipe is made of meerschaum, and is quite expensive. It is a nice little pipe collection. ETA, the pot is a rice cooker.

Devil’s in the details: you repainted parts of the outside but left dirty stains near the bottom of the house from water splashing, very unsightly and easily fixable with pressure washing and a little bit of paint. Dining room coloring is off. With so much going on with the walls (doors, vent, electrical) For some definition and to split up black/white scheme I would clad the ceiling with wood planks in geometric pattern, really not that expensive. Kudos for the bathroom.

And it is not just the mud stains at the bottom, but above the garage the paint has black smudges on it. What would cause that? And why was it not fixed. If I were to drive by this house I would think "That house needs a paint job."

I started doing DIY projects when I was around 14 or so, and started building small pieces of furniture and the like at 16. Now I am 19 and building out my school bus conversion into a tiny home (as I wanted to go tiny since I was your age).
I mention all of that to say, if you really want something, stay dedicated, do your research, and get your hands dirty. There are dozen of resources out there and it’s never to early to start, as picking up on a few things overtime is so much better than diving in head first.
And remember, you can do anything you set your mind to and even if you decide overtime to go a different direction, you’ll still learn something valuable along the way.
I wish you the best in your endeavors! 😊

In my area the chimney needs to be taller than the roof so that you avoid smoke problems in your house...
Why the weird angled corner in the 1st bedroom? Makes no sense according to the floor plan.
Think the light grey would have been best over most of the wood clad surfaces of the house. The smooth walls pop out too much and deemphasize the stone...
The living room fan light is a no-go for me. To be fair not sure i've seen a fan light I've liked. The grey can be painted over in the dining room, lol. Kind of think you should have gone for a 3 panel slider in the dining instead of the odd paint job.
Would have removed the bulkhead above the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I'd then raise the cabinets to the ceiling and put a 6 - 8 inch deep shelves underneath. That would improve the quality of light in the kitchen. The staircase carpet should have emphsized width over heighth. Who wants to feel like they are climbing Mount Everest? Had leather drawer pulls. They wore out quickly. Hope you have spare leather strapping for them.

I'm learning the business and had a question about the profit piece you did at the end. If he sold his house for $395k wouldn't he lose money? $395k @7% for agent fees + closing is $27,650 and then his original $18,000 puts it at $45,650 for total selling fees. My favs about this remodel: color scheme interior and exterior (painting the brick window trim was genius), dining table lighting (I love MCM), sliding door and deck, carpet on stairs and bedrooms , the two tone stair well walls, the master bath with the hand painted back splash and green cabinets w leather pulls. Joey seems well pleased. He made a great investment! Austin home values only go up!

LOVE how this turned out. I absolutely like the handmade pattern in the bathroom, and the leather handles, that whole space looks awesome. The only thing I didn’t like about this project was that little cabinet wall next to the fridge, I would’ve ripped that sh*t out and make the kitchen feel less cramped. Also the backsplash, I would have chosen a minimalist geometric pattern, similar to the bathroom floor, just to give a little accent to the space. With a little landscaping work in the front and back, this house is definitely a WIN. Good for Joey!

That wasn't the same GE stove that you saw at the store.. The store display had cast iron grates over 5 burners. This one had 4 burners

I liked the two tone separated by the stair rail and the concept of the paint defining the dining room. I have to say, I really dislike the door being painted two colors on the line. You could have moved it one way or the other. I like the dining room light fixture and opening the deck up. French doors would have been nicer than the slider, but probably a significant budget hit as well.

ok THAT IS THE CUTEST RE-DO EVER! You can tell you guys love Joey so much, and the upgrades were amazing - such great little details like the toothpaste door knobs, really really well done. Small but like a little jewel box with little secrets around every corner, well done! (oh and my niece also lives in a 1,000 SF 2-story house, so they're definitely out there!)

What is the street max price here? Looks like a fairly low end neighbourhood.

What about when it rains, the outdoor furniture will deteriorate very quickly? What am I missing?

The outdoor living will never be used without any shade. I was in that part of Texas last month and you saw everyone clustering under any shade available.

Yep, I was coming down to the comments to say this. That patio is useless during the day without a cover.

You realise that stuff can be done, you know, afterwards?

    • @TheSeedOfChange

@@camilledammasch3648 You do realize that this guy just spent a huge amount of money on buying a house and remodeling it, right? My point is that a cover for the patio should have been part of the budget if he wants to get any use out of it between the months of May and September. If there's a choice between fancy chairs on the patio or a cover for it, I would rather have a cover and $12 Walmart chairs because it is so uncomfortable to sit out there 6 months of the year. I live in Austin and I have a cute patio that we never use because it isn't covered.

Wait, you guys SOLD him the house? I thought y'all gave it to him? Also if home depot sponsored, doesn't that mean they gave y'all all the supplies and appliances for free? Why is Reno cost so much?
