To this day, Many women leave home with no money, or skills to earn money. Quality product is a team effort, Many entrepreneurs feel it's slave labour. They expect their slaves to make them money. Many subscription services exist to make money off women. The news concept came about, because of numerous wardrobe malfunctions on the news. Also with the hope of news programs publicizing the site for free. Music / KPop is expensive. Lyrics, music, musicians, recording engineers, producers, and several other professions go into make music money. If anyone of these aren't up to the challenge, then the quality is ruined. The worst singers can become hit makers with skilled staff. I don't know this group. But I wish everyone luck, happyness, and success.

I’ve been into Kpop since 2008-2009 and I knew they existed but I never watched their MVs or listened to their music. I only knew that they were infamous for making pr0n Kpop MVs.
I feel pretty bad for them. Their backstory is heartbreaking but it seems like the company and them just didn't really have any solid plans. If their end goal was a career in adult entertainment or something like OnlyFans, then the short lived scandalous promotion methods would have worked well since they're just a gateway to their "main" content. Artists like Lady Gaga are "outrageous" and "sexual" but people stay because they have something more to offer after people are paying attention to them, the sex appeal is to stand out but the main content is supposed to be the music or the artist. The Naked Girls just had...their nakedness, and not even a proper marketing plan to use that to their benefit. I think if they had better management and consideration for longevity, they would've done better. I think especially in 2020 when sex work is slowly but steadily becoming less stigmatized and more accessible due to the internet, a group like them would have more avenues and audience. Maybe they were just too ahead of the game lol
The only reason they didn’t have an plans or fall backs is because the CEO planned to scam from the start. The anchors thought they would have at least 6 months to build SOMETHING but didn’t even get the chance. And after such a crushing blow it would be hard to recover for some people.
This is true. When lady gaga first burst onto the scene I avoided her because I thought she was just a regular pop artist with shock content. But as time passed I started to notice the good music she was putting out. If anything, it had her own authentic stamp on it. I think a comparison can be made between Nicole scherzinger and camila cabello as well. Pussycat dolls had a sexy presence and assertiveness but only one good singer, but her career didn't go anywhere because she imo didn't provide anything different from other popstars. Fifth Harmony was a similar group but with slightly better singers, and cabello has flourished as an artist because she's making her type of music. If one doesn't have a certain style or vision that they want to show, most often they won't succeed in this business.
Had some good laughs, so keep it at you're welcome. Since the 70s, Netherlands got a tradition of putting an average 1.5 8008 per movie. No such things shock
You used the group "Stellar" as an example, but they have a pretty heartbreaking backstory as well. They were tricked and forced into the sexy concept, as shown by the look on their faces in most of their MVs. Their company was struggling, and their sexy MVs did the best, so they forced the girls into it. Sometimes, the girls would have to split 1 meal for a week, in an effort to save money and keep up their perfect bodies. It's really sad how they are called sluts for being tricked by their own company. Their producers, managers, and choreographers were also mostly men, which definitely explains things.
when they took their bra off, the one on the right (with the blonde hair) looked like she really didn't wanna do it and she waited till the last moment... It really made me feel uncomfortable. That wasn't very reassuring, so sad.
"I'm glad, in this case, the Naked Girls seemingly chose to pursue this concept themselves, instead of it being forced onto them..." I 100% agree with you. When I started watching this video, that is exactly what I feared, and was glad to hear they kind of put it together themselves in the beginning. --- REEEALY sucks how Naked News screwed them over before (and everyone else involved. Subscribers, crew, probably the landlord...).
'embarass' is a bit of a wrong word here. maybe I'm wrong, but when people use it it really comes off as you looking down upon them/seeing them as lesser in a way. I think sexual concepts are okay, as long as they can be for sure consentually done, rather than someone else gaining from exploiting other people's bodies like this especially in a cultural setting like that. Don't blame the girls, if you do.
@@nick3805 I wouldnt rule out the possibility that they mightve consented to this! Some women enjoy expressing their sexuality and that shouldn't be "embarrassing" in any way, nor should we assume they were forced! It's just a pity they were hated on by the public and did not produce high-quality songs.
@@ploopy678 that's true, but I also really dislike it when some people out there pretend that showing off the body equals confidence. I don't think I'm any less confident in my body for not wanting to expose it in public. I do think they consented to this, however I'm having some doubts about the reasons. I don't know why but I feel like they did it not to show off their bodies but for another reason. Nvm ig, just my personal take.

I remember hearing about this group. It's so heartbreaking that entire newscast got ripped off. No matter the content they deserve to be paid for their work. I hope they have found successes in life.
There's the misconception that being in the adult industry is an easy way to make money because we only know about the ones who succeed, but it's not always the case
To be honest, those b-tracks sound on par with the music going on at the time. So they obviously had talent. And the fact that they were bringing it as "older women" in an industry where their age made them seem like dinosaurs is also an achievement I can't take from them. I also have to admire them for pulling themselves out of a tragic situation and taking a huge chance at something completely new. Having said that, there's only so far you can go when you're using sex to sell. While I do think society as a whole as WAY too scared of the female body, nudity, and sexual situations, there is a line between art and porn - and Naked Girls definitely were softcore porn. I don't think they could have expected any less given their bodies were their main selling point, not their music. Still, I think I actually admire them for making the K-pop industry uncomfortable by pushing the standards as far as they could go while also showing how a sexual woman can be a powerful figure and not just a pervert.
I think that their former boss probably got away with stealing money says a lot about how we think about sex work and more importantly sex workers. It’s pretty sad. If they wanted a career in the adult film industry it was really sad that it wasn’t regulated in order to stop them being taking advantage of in the first place.
South Korea doesn't even have an adult film industry, as far as I'm aware, so a programme like Naked News would have been the closest thing to adult entertainment that these girls could get, aside from working at a strip club ig.
I actually kinda like sexy concept and I'm sad that there are not many groups that do it now. Like the only group I can think of that is still active is GIRLCRUSH (a group under DAM Entertainment, that ironically doesn't do girl crush).
I love sexy concepts because it makes me feel empowered and beautiful, when I was younger I watched groups like sistar, stellar, aoa, girls day, etc. Still to this day it sticks with me and I go back over old mvs and stuff

I love the sexy concept when it is done first and foremost willingly. For example, I think it was Stellar that have basically been misled in doing things that appeared differently in a video and in general felt really uncomfortable with the sexy concept, thus it made viewers as well. And when you are a young person in the industry, you mostly do what you are told..... On the other hand, Hyuna is doing it willingly and has the talent and mind to support the publicity she gets. Personally I really miss it from groups like EXID who supported that very well! EXID has been such an empowring group in general!
@@lifewithyeng cant say they did it willingly, they had to swich the concept, because the band concept just wasnt bringing money, so the company decided to go with a sexy concept. But AOA in my eyes were and still are the best in classy sexy.
From hearing the small snippets of the b-side tracks from their debut album, I think that their singing is actually quite nice. They could definitely have gotten loads of fans if it weren’t for the provocative imagery.
Expressing your sexuality in any art form is fine but why is it that it's usually women who do that and the way they do it is very obviously aimed at pleasing straight men's fantasies about how women should look or behave sexually? There's a lot to unpack here as it all stems from patriarchy. If men put out a risque song - it was still the women around them that are objectified in the music videos. The majority of women who put out risque videos play straight into that narrative - that she is the perfect 'token' woman. Reclaiming female sexuality should be our goal and redefining the standards - it will take generations to undo though. A very well done music video about this issue is Halsey's Nightmare.
i don't think this group was aiming to show their artistry in any way tho. they way they used snsd name shows they were just trying to makes easy money and fame.
Because we are living in a male-dominated society that offers a huge market for „cheap sex“ for them to enjoy. Think about how many brothels or strip clubs are centered towards men - have you ever seen something like that for women? The only thing I can think of are the Chippendales and that’s about it. Women have always been objectified and used to please men, throughout every single century. I don‘t think that this mindset will ever change unfortunately. In the contrary: Even after being mostly equal to men regarding our rights, voting, having a career, etc. we‘re still objectified. This is the reason why I personally don‘t like to see female artists being almost naked or overly sexy on the stage or in music videos. Yes, they can do whatever the want but they‘re also normalizing that women show off like that and objectify themselves even more.
Men, as a whole, tend to be easily manipulated via lust, and it doesn't take a genius to take advantage of that tendency for fame and financial gain. It's typical to write it off as solely the predation by men, but, in truth, it is far from a one-way street. It is also true that women readily exhibit the same tendency, albeit to a lesser extent. Sex sells. All those pretty boy idol groups aren't an accident, for example. Women generally not being being as crude as men are doesn't negate us salivating and expecting our preferences to be met by men, too. Sorry, but men and women aren't as different as some play it out to be.
These girls had guts especially for attempting such an extreme career change like this to a field where they usually prefer barely legal women. I hope they're all cared for and doing well today.
The whole idea is sketch, definitely an older creepy man's dream. Update: I knew it. Hopefully, they found peace and are successfully doing something they love now.
I wonder if being in such a well raunchy group tarnished their image to employees and prevented them from other job opportunities? I hope life hasn't been too hard for them since disbandment.
Or rather, pronounced "naykt" instead of the usual "nay-kid"... Interesting... Is the youtube demonetization explanation really true? It doesn't seem likely, as there are thousands (millions?) of videos on RUclips where "naked" is pronounced correctly. Technically it's a lot easier to censor on the written word "naked" in texts/titles rather than some speech recognition technology... I thought it was just a mispronunciation. After all, there are many words that *should* be pronounced like that, "baked", "ached", "raked" (normal past participle pronunciation pattern for verbs), while "naked" follows another pattern (for adjectives, and verbs that end with 'd' or 't' ), "crooked", "wasted", "faded". On the other hand, the narrator (this youtube channel owner) pronounces all other words perfectly, so I don't really know...
@@micke_mango the thing is, I'm pretty sure she pronounces it correctly in the very beginning, so it's most definitely her trying to avoid demonetization lol
remember kids, shock value might work to launch your career, but it's never reliable to keep you afloat. like, i get why they could only perform in adult clubs, with their concepts/songs/choreo and all. but by that point they should've focused on performing well rather than performing shock. to imagine where they could've gone had they not aim for more shock value ... damn, kinda sad, ngl. like a wasted opportunity.
They definitely could've done this in a better, and maybe even successful way. There music should've never been marketed as 'teen'. Clean versions, yes. But not with the phrasing 'teen'. They could've focused on shocking lyrics rather videos, with scandalous yet not over the top costuming and choreo. The live show could've attracted people to them with new looks or special affects rather than a strip show. Then the magazine and lingerie launches would have had better chances at being successful.
Considering there are niche "adult" pop groups like this in other countries, I feel like they would've actually succeeded if they just weren't in Korea. As much as I don't like the sexy concept, I'm going to say it: they were ahead of their time basically. If they came out today, I think things would have played out much differently
There's actually a group that debuted not too long ago (In late 2020, but I forgot the name) and they're not doing too well... They wear lingrie 90% of the time & even scissored in one of their choreographies. The group is quite explicit and they're receiving backlash so I wouldn't say they're much different from what's happening to this group 🤷🏾♀️

1:02 OMGGG "Stella" the shadeeee xddddd. (for anyone unaware the MV for "Rocket Girl" is wrongly titled, instead of 'Stellar' calling the group 'Stella')
A reason that women's breasts are "shocking" to most people when they randomly show up on the screen is because a practiced tradition from centuries ago was to conceal the breasts so they weren't seen by others. It was for her own chasity and for no one's pleasure. They're treated almost like genitals since they're covered by fabric like underwear would. I respect them if that's what they wanna do but I'm scared that kids must have seen it somehow. Yes skin is skin but there's a difference between age limit and mature content. I wouldn't want my 6 year old coming up to me showing this instead of nursery rhymes. Overall my reaction to them is sympathy. They had hard times and they had no choice but to shock the public in order to get attention and money
I'm surprised how shocked South Korea was over this given how sexualized most foreign artists outside of their country. But I must admit it's a lot more conservative over there in the east.
I think that if things are aimed at adults then parents should try to stop their kids from watching adult themed content. It isn’t the creators fault if a kid stumbles across their content. If you really don’t want your kid watching mature videos then you’ll control it. My parents do and successfully do with my young siblings. Ppl say all the time an artist work is inappropriate for kids when their content isn’t made for kids, but made for adults. Like Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas, Cardi B, etc etc
@@bigfoodstyle5531 sadly in a day and age where pornography has become easily accessible/exposed to young peeps like me (I became hypersexual when I was around 9-10 years old because of it), that's nearly impossible
If you have a popular member in the group the sexy concept works....AOA was always sexy and they had Choa and Seolhyon who are so popular getting bad press was almost impossible. Having a popular member seems to trump most negative attention in any case like Irene from Red Velvet with her being rude to the help. All they had to do was post some pics of her for a xmas card and it ended that controversy lol....sad but true... oh well.
Irene apologized, that's what ended that controversy. Not her being popular lol. Also having popular members doesn't negate negative press at all, i.e. every group ever
yikes cant stand people who judge them or hate them. the group obviously had some trauma happen but moved forward to pursued what they were confident in and embraced their body and sexuality. we all have been exposed to a few "mature" content when we were younger but for this mv it was obviously not "traumatizing", its your parents responsibility to raise you and teach you not fault for these people making a living and breaking standards for people their age. i hope the women are in a happy and loving place now and hope they know that theirs nothing wrong with owning your confidence and body
Aoora, a male soloist was pretty scandalous when he had released smooth. The MV featured the female chest and a close up of his bulge and it included several scenes with a female and him hinting at, well, you probably know at what.
Omgg...this group's story is a tragedy... Which is such a shame, considering how hard the women had worked and how their song actually can be rlly good with more polishing (instead of just 100% relying on 'sexy-ness' and 'noise marketing')
sexy concept is perfectly fine, but like you said, you kind need some talent behind it to really garner an actual fan base. If your concept is only just being naked and sexy, well, the internet has plenty of porn.... so yeah, you won't have a fan base to grown on. But in a way, kudos to those women, who took a risk trying something new, getting burned, and saying "f that! We're gonna make something of this", even if it didn't really pan out in the long run. :)
Sameee. I personally love sexy concepts because it makes me feel empowered and beautiful, I grew up watching sistar, stellar, aoa, girls day, etc. I still love looking back over old mvs and I'm a big fan of HyunA so that works I guess, sadly not many groups do sexy concepts anymore except for mamamoo, and thats about it and it kinda makes me sad
@@berri794 true, sexy concepts get so much hate and complaints about it being not appropriate to kids. What about the adults who like a little lewd action in their lives? Same, holy shit I used to fucking love Stellar when I was younger, when I got a bit older and came back into kpop and found out what happened to them, I was furious at how they were treated, my poor girls :(
I feel like if they were actually serious with the music and maybe tone down the sexy just a little from making it into a porn flick I felt like they would’ve been fine. It’s nothing wrong with being sexy but the Kpop business isn’t the porn business. Also maybe if OnlyFans came out back in the day they may would’ve had a chance? Idk 🤷🏾♂️.
I don't get the point of forming a group, even with the negative comments on the n@ked news... And also i think korea's society wasn't ready for this level of sexy concepts and it's not still ready now, cuz if you see there is still negative reviews abt idols' way of clothing even though they r not really sexy
I feel so bad for them, they had to stay with no clothes in front of all people. It's sad because it was obvious they didn't feel comfortable with that, specially the girls with long hair. And I'm pretty sure that the "company" was full of per*erts
I think the problem with this group was that they relied too heavily on sex to sell instead of being sexy in a way that was less overt. They were a KPOP group after all so did they have good songs and choreography, which are two elements that KPOP idols are known for. I mean if you are on stage taking your top off, that is the same show you can get at a strip club. Plus I think the Asian market is a little more conservative than their American counterparts so I think that is also a reason why they didn't succeed. Even the American market would have thought this group was a bit too much I think. It was basically bordering on softcore pornography which is a whole other industry.
16:29 Maybe. I haven't done the research, but I suspect that a significant percentage of lingerie buyers are men. I think it might be similar to how most purchasers of women's fine jewelry are men, and most purchasers of luxury men's watches are women.
That's because of the people who buy them as gifts. But do you really suspect someone would gift their girlfriend or wife lingerie that is merch for a group like this, especially considering how the group didn't really have any fans?

@@mommysaranghae1281 exactly, and I feel especially sad when women think exposing your body for money is empowering when there are many other ways to empower women without having to resort to nudity
I think the reason they did the lingerie was for the men to buy for their significant others, not so much for the straight men themselves. Kind of like how playboy did lingerie sets for $20 at Spencer's; playboy's main demographic is straight men so by selling them, it's a way for the men to fulfill these fantasies with their significant others if that makes sense.
This is so interesting, never even knew they existed and I got into kpop at the start of second gen! I absolutely love sexy concepts, but I think the problem here was that they didn't actually have a concept or theme at all really. Just going naked doesn't really accomplish anything, it doesn't say anything. And as you noted, it's a one-time deal - after they do that, what else is there to explore with the idea? Had they actually turned the Naked News concept into something more, their group may have actually worked. Like even just turning the Naked News concept into a song and MV, something tongue-in-cheek, would have worked quite well and captured more interest and possibly launched some sort of career.
The question is if they did all of this voluntarily or did they do it out of desperation or were they forced? It seems like they were fully involved in it and were not forced, but I don't know. The whole thing sounds fishy. I hope they didn't suffer even more serious stuff than we know.
They should have debut in Japan, no shade but I'm sure they would still be somewhat relevant today. Their backstory is sad but I'm all for the women doing what they want but when it's for shock value it's useless and just brings negative criticism and leaves a stain on reputation. I love sexy girl groups as the shaming and entitlement of women's body in Korea is annoying and outdated so I'm all for sexy concepts that the members are comfortable with but clearly the company had no plans for them and if they cared st all they wouldn't have allowed it to go as far as it did or like I mentioned before they would have debuted them somewhere with less shane on sex and sexuality. Hopefully they are living well without shame and are doing things that make them happy and I hope that John guy is in prison.
So if a woman wants to kidnap your son and eat him for dinner will you still be "all for the women doing what they want?" What if they want to cut themselves or starve? Do you care?
@@mothman8800 The need for sexualizing one self has to do with self esteem, the desire for attention and some kind of emotional fulfillment. People who struggles with self harm suffers from the same thing, feeling unloved, they harm themselves to feel some kind of emotion to make up for the lack of fulfillment. Anorexia is pretty self explanatory I think. In all these cases we should help these people to feel accepted and loved rather than encourage them to expose themselves or mutilate their bodies.

I think their story is very heartbreaking, I am glad that they disappeared and don't have to embarass themselves like that anymore.

@@Sara-yz7nc I did not mean it in any way looking down on them. Also I don't blame them, but I really don't think this is what they wanted to do.

For real, all of them were exploited by that man and every person who benefited! Just tragic.
There's the misconception that being in the adult industry is an easy way to make money because we only know about the ones who succeed, but it's not always the case
"They were always dressed like they were about to enter a spaceship" lol, yeah I remember hahahah
This was interesting... forever shocked.

I love the sexy concept when it is done first and foremost willingly.
Great comment here!
i don't think this group was aiming to show their artistry in any way tho. they way they used snsd name shows they were just trying to makes easy money and fame.
exactly!

This is a fascinating video. Kudos to you for tackling a sensitive & controversial subject with objectivity & balance.
True
I saw Lil Nas X on Saturday Night Live. Nothing matters anymore.

Waaaah!!! Me too like just now!!! It was too late when I saw your comment!!!😭😭 My beautiful eyes are now stained!!!!! Mum!!! I want to die now!!!
There was really a show where girls were taking off clothes while reporting news?? Who did even think of something like that? I know it shouldn't be funny but I can't stop laughing
I would never do what they did and I don’t really agree with the whole idea of women undressing on camera while reading the news, but their story is sad. They gave up everything for that. And their manager just stole everything and ran away.
Finally someone who understands i agree 100% with you their background story is very bad and sad but this was not the way to about it they shouldn't resort exposing themselves so much like that on camera
@@sweetchocolate7113 exactly, and women shouldn’t have to resort to that to earn money either
@@mommysaranghae1281 exactly, and I feel especially sad when women think exposing your body for money is empowering when there are many other ways to empower women without having to resort to nudity
@@homersimpson9797 completely agree. And I am honestly disgusted that it had so many viewers.
I remember the Naked anchors, but never knew they were victims of the usual "CEO runs out with the money" scam, nor that some formed a girl group.
When i heard orange juice thw brand i almost thought it was the acutal orange juice-
me too
I think the reason they did the lingerie was for the men to buy for their significant others, not so much for the straight men themselves.
Kind of like how playboy did lingerie sets for $20 at Spencer's; playboy's main demographic is straight men so by selling them, it's a way for the men to fulfill these fantasies with their significant others if that makes sense.
We need to cancel Evangeline FAST for showing her shoulders
I just love your videos 🥺 I wasn’t doing well today and you just made me happy. And I feel bad for them but... I would never do that
Glad you feel better!
I just hope these girls are doing well now. If I was in their shoes I would probably be depressed but that is just me.
You are so articulate and eloquent, and your analysis is so well written. 👏
Your eyeliner is on fleek!
can’t get over the way you pronounce naked like “NAYkt” as if “nake” was a verb.
i think you missed the disclaimer she gave in the begining on pronouncing the word "Naykt" intentionally to avoid being taken down by yt...
i hate when people shame kpop stars for their concept as if most of the time they choose it
But they did chose it
YOU WOULD SURELY BE MY BIAS FROM WHATEVER GROUP YOU WOULD DEBUT IN😭❤
The question is if they did all of this voluntarily or did they do it out of desperation or were they forced?
@@axeisthill5386 I don't know how you got cannibalism and self harm from women expressing their sexuality but jesus christ.
@UCbP434IXJbxJPqHjcoc2vHg OH MY GOD THE LACK OF SELF AWARENESS LMFAO PLEASE REREAD YOUR FIRST COMMENT AND YOU'LL KNOW WHERE I GOT THE CANNIBALISM FROM
@@mothman8800 The need for sexualizing one self has to do with self esteem, the desire for attention and some kind of emotional fulfillment.
@@axeisthill5386 wtf are you talking about? Women can express themselves anyway they feel like, if you don't like it, don't look.
"wardrobe malfunction" LOL
Sure... while posing for photos as the flashes go off.
Ploopy is so underrated to be honest like ur videos are amazing bruhhh!!!!
For anyone wondering why she is saying "Naked" the way she is in the video, is due to not wanting YT demonetizing or even giving her a warning for this video.
