    I am Chinese, and I have a question: why do every time people mention MG, say its a Chinese-owned company, but when you are English talking about Land Rover, you never mention Indian-owned, or Royce Rolls German-owned? Is that Chinese-owned something so important for you English mentioned every single time? What's the point of that?

    • @husseinj
      @husseinj 3 месяца назад +23

      It's a really good question, but I think it comes down to MG being a classic British brand that was dead for a long time, so we didn't see any new MG cars for many decades. It is that the rights to the name and logo has been purchased but all of the (excellent) design and engineering is fully Chinese as of course no MG actually remains in these cars as this was all fully disbanded. Saying it is Chinese owned helps to convey this in some way I guess. Land Rover and Rolls Royce are different as there was no gap in production so we are used to seeing this brand on our roads and much of the design / engineering / production still happens here in the UK. You are right that mentioning 'Chinese Owned' and not 'German Owned' / 'Indian Owned' isn't the most accurate language but MG is still relatively young and actually I fully expect they can stop saying it soon!

    If the Cyberster had a Jaguar badge on the bonnet and cost £150k I think the review would have sounded a lot more positive than this one came across. Apart from the weight penalty, the scissors doors make ingress and egress pretty easy in tight spaces. The cabin fit and finish are excellent. BMW Z4 still better cabin wise, but ICE cars are nearing the end, and most won't be allowed in city centres all over Europe soon so that driving holiday in such a car may not be possible in a few years time.

    Depends where you live. I dropped consideration of the BMW as it's nearly twice the price of the Cyberster. Cyberster 2.5 mil baht or about 57,000 lbs. The BMW Z4 M40i 4.8 million baht or about 110,000 lbs!. The BMW M40i is the top model of the Z4. Better to compare with the Cyberster top model dual motor variant. Still cheaper and will run circles around the BMW in blissful silence. Yes, the safety and driver aid settings are admittedly a bit annoying but it's being "nit picky". Other than that the Cyberster is demonstrably the better car. I've over 5000 km on mine and recently sold my Mercedes C43 AMG Coupe. Rather have the Cyberster. Electric propulsion is simply superior. No discussion on maintenance which is hugely more expensive with the BMW. Warranty? LIFETIME with the Cyberster for motors, controllers, and BATTERY. (Thailand) Operating cost substantially lower as well. (I also have a Tesla so I have experience with near zero maintenance over ICE. I'm a modest 5'8 or 169 cm so the seating and driving position is perfect. I push the Cyberster hard in the mountains and the dual motor handles better with its 50/50 weight distribution and the acceleration out of corners just embarrasses the likes of a BMW turbo and leaves it in the dust. No need for gear changing as the response is astounding on the Cyberster. The doors. Simply elegant. The sound system,,, impressive. The boot space surprisingly spacious. Driving in "comfort" mode the Cyberster utilizes the rear motor only hence it's practical and economical. Tap the paddle to "sport" mode and the Cyberster changes it's personality and drives with both front and rear motors. A completely different experience. Hit the red "super sport" button and better be prepared for some real face ripping pull with a torque figure the BMW can only dream about. So single motor in comfort and dual motor in sport and you have enormous flexibility and it's still cheaper than BMWs high priced under performing flagship Roadster. This review was about preference for buttons and engine noise. Seriously? The reviewer needs to find another day job.

    They're both ugly, cumbersome, fussy and expensive roadsters. Like having a cramped SUV or hard to manoeuvre city car; they're surely falling at the first hurdle?
    Only possible case for the MG is you cant wait and must have the only garish electric roadster on sale now. Boxster or latest gen Mx5 anyone?

    • @dmomcilovic9185
      @dmomcilovic9185 3 месяца назад

      what is embarrassing is how people still worship old Combustion cars (usually they have never driven an EV) What is more embarrassing to non EV owners is how good value for money this is, how well build, and well designed, great suspension, smooth and fast. I had a long test drive in one and it blew me away. Way better made than any European car makers that will go bust in a few years. An this has 7 year warranty too. Who cares about doors.. ?
