Lenovo Vantage popped up on my screen saying I needed to update my BIOS. Everything seemed to go ok when I saw that it needed to restart. While restarting, screen just turned black (no logo) and my hard disk was not spinning. I called Lenovo Support countless times to figure out how to fix no boot after Lenovo recommended BIOS update but they eventually told me I needed to bring Lenovo G310 to service center for replacement of motherboard.
I watched your video and went through the steps you took by shorting the CMOS to clear the BIOS. It seemed too simple not to try. Sure enough after building up the courage to open the laptop and pull the battery connector off and removing the CMOS battery to short and clear the BIOS. I was delightfully surprised when I plugged in the power cord and pressed the power button to see the Lenovo logo appear.
Maybe tech savvy people would have figured this out on their own but for non-techy guys like me, your video was straight to the point, easy to follow, and effective. Thank you very much!

I'm experiencing the same problem with a Lenovo Yoga 14 80JH.
No charging, and the power at Vcc & GND on the mobo DCIN connector are stuck at 5.2V.
This video is a blessing, I thought I'd have to change the full motherboard, which would be pricier than the laptop at this stage.

0:30 - could you give us a hint which is ground and which is + in the connector? I cannot find a simple schematic for that anywhere in the web :(
First, Where do get schematics from. Need schematics for this labtop. Second, I have a Asus K501U laptop where after the power connector the two mosfets has issue. The first one D has 19v the second MOSFET S has no 19v. I shorted the S to D and still not coming on. I measure a D to S short on three other MOSFETs on the board. Any suggestions on next step. Should I short the other three MOSFETs to see if labtop will come on.

If it powers up then buying a new keyboard makes sense. If its a mother board problem I would rather bin it. Any help appreciated. When I power it on all I get is the power LED blinks 3 times. I am getting 20 Volts on the mother board. So I know the power supply is ok

Got a similar problem. Plugged in a usb device, and since then both USB 3 ports have died. The laptop wouldn't switch on, until I removed and re-installed the battery. The USB ports are now dead. Any hints on what I should be looking for? The voltage regulator seems to be working in my case - 5V on input while the laptop is off, and 5V on output while the device is on.
hi i recently used a different power adapter to charge my lenovo miix 300 because the adapter wasnt working and it was too much voltage and now my ideapad/tablet/laptop , whatever you want to call it will not turn on or even show any kind of power. can you tell me if there is any way to a) fix the problem b) is it the motherboard or the battery c) is there any way to save my data if the motherboard is fried? thanks
Hello. I had a problem with an acer e1-572G . it want to starts , but after 1 seconds, is power off. the blue led and the orange led are blinking infinitly, and after 1 power, dont power again... i think it`s a short-circuit on mb, but i dont find it.

YOU just removed the short chip and just shorted the circuit with jumping wire . does this method works for replacing all MOSFET that is shorted ?

My Acer One 14 is shorted as i tested it, it turns off after 12 seconds no display fan spinning power led light on and the processor chip under the heatsink getting really2 hot even if i dont turn the laptop on, i only plugged in the charger and processor chip is getting too hot.. what could be the problem?

I buy broken laptops off ebay and try to fix then flip them. I can't tell you how many lenovo laptops I get that come faulty straight out of the box (according to the previous owner). Most of the time its something like the battery and cmos need to pulled out then put back in for it to start back up. The last one I bought was fairly new, but the owner said the keyboard was dead - I opened it up and I kid you not, the ribbon cable was unevenly clipped in. No idea whats wrong with Lenovo QC, can't believe how bad some of their products are straight out of the box.

Do you have an experience with the Yoga 900 or 910? It stopped turning on one day. I tried all the tricks online. The battery is charge 7.8V or something similar. Charge light is WHITE. There's a whining noise when I try to turn it on. It's electrical whining noise. None of the fans are moving and no boot of course.

I have found with some laptops if there is a serial number on the sticker on the back of the laptop you can check on the manufacturers website and you can get the model number up etc.

My probleme is when the main battery and Cmos battery are conneted to mainboard, i can not turn on the laptop, i have to disconnect the coms and main battery and plug the charger to use my laptop and when I plug the charger, it turns on automatically.

I am using LENOVO G50 if I press power button after charger connect the battery charging indicator is flickering. If I release the power button no indicator nothing.if I remove power code and refix the power light and charging indication light will come and automatically off after a few seconds.

kostas magalios well that's because now the USB port will still have voltage but direct and not through the chip. Hope this helps.

Im fixing a Lenovo T410 , the problem is it turned on upon pressing the power switch but after a 3-5 sec it turns off.. I've already found the shorted capacitor in the processor supply rail.. removing the cap, the short is gone, but still the problem is the same.. the processor, the 19v line, the 3.3v, and the 5v are all ok.. the 1V and 1.5V drops after few sec of powering on.. any suggestions ?

Hi. I think my Lenovo Ideapad 320 is broken. Its not turning on, and when I try to push the novo button it turns on for a second then shuts down again. And the light at the side of my charging panel also blinks with the gap of 8 seconds. It is a built in type battery. So i tried removing the back cover and removed the battery. And tried the "drain the flea power" method, as well as the other methods but nothing is really working. Hoping for your fast response. :(
Mines the same bro and my friend's also...Lenovo has huge problems
Mine have just gone dead (no power light, no charging light) hours ago after being left stand by. It is a brand new Lenovo 320s-13IKB, bought 8 months ago. Pressing Novo button, 30-seconds power button, Fn+S+V combination are not helping. It is simply dead. Luckily it has 2 months warranty left. I am gonna bring it to the sevice center tomorrow.
How is know that mainboard is damage and need change , no usefull repair ?
I think it's a 5 volts voltage regulator for the USB port.
The problem happened because of a short caused by the faulty port.
is not a regulator, as i have 5 v on the input of that chip. I think its meant to protect the laptop in case of short on the usb. I still dont understand how that chip its related with no light and picture on the screen :)
I have 3 laptops that working with black screens 2 Dell latitude E5430. Not a cable problem or screen. I have 19 and 3.3 on the screen cable on the screen but its going nowhere on the screen just on the connector. Thats a hard one. I already tried the graphic

I have the same laptop. The charging light is always off and it does not charge. I cannot boot the laptop. I measured the right resistance on DC IN and the right voltage output. I believe there is a shortage on the motherboard DC female connector (symptoms Voltage renders 0V)

Unplug the battery a d keep the AC adapter plug up, if it comes on, it definitely need a new battery.

Hi, I have a Lenovo e540 laptop.
It doesn't turn on when I unplug the laptop and reconnect it.
Its red LED, which indicates that the device is on, lights up, but nothing happened(monitor and fan is off)
This problem exists both when the battery is connected and without the battery.

Are 3.3V and 5V power supplies working?
Disconnect battery and cmos battery. Hold power button for a few seconds. Connect cmos battery and see what happens.
