This 1000m dive watch is heavily vintage inspired and definitely has a great aesthetic, on top of being 90% Swiss Made. But is all that enough for its almost $1800 price tag? I own this thing, it's frickin' lovely! I have a 5 watch rotation including considerably more expensive brands and this one is one absolutely punches above its weight for price. It is incredibly robust, runs great, looks unique. I have it on a black tropic strap, the way god intended haha. It looks mean as hell and gets loads of compliments. Not sure about what all the haters are on about in the peanut gallery down here, my guess would be people who don't own the watch and have never seen it in person. I was able to pick it up for 1200 bucks via a connection, but honestly I think it's well worth the 1650 asking.
I’ve had this brand on my radar for some time and just a few weeks ago pulled the trigger on the P-104S. I knew about the clasp and like still absolutely love this watch. I put it on an extra silicon strap and looks awesome. Thanks for the review!
I do like the overall look. I agree with most of your points. Personally, I would not get this for this price.
I don’t like the clasp or the fact that not all the hour markers have lume. I would like to know what kind of issues the orginal owner had with sizing the bracelet, could just be he had the wrong screwdriver.
I think if your going to size your own watch, get a good screwdriver the proper size, not the cheap set for battery doors.
The case on this reminds me a lot of the Seiko Series that came out earlier this year.
I do own this watch on strap. That’s a fantastic watch ! You definitely forgot to say that’s it’s a 1000 meters water resistant watch. I know for most of desk divers it’s too much and pretty much useless, but not in my job. It’s a 1000 meters water resistant watch in a 39.5 mm case. Pretty amazing to me. And it’s the kind of watch you love more and more as you wearing it and staring at it. The reflections of the light on the dome saphir cristal are astonishing. The level of details on the hands, or on the bezel is really high.
And for those that say that O&W doesn’t have any diving history, that’s actually not true. It’s no Rolex or Doxa history for sure, but the Caribbean 1000 was the first watch (in 1964) in the whole industry to be 1000m water resistant. And it was the watch worn during a diving expedition to the North Pole in 1966.
As a lot of people are talking about the Oris Divers 65 as an alternative for this price point. The Oris is a really beautiful watch, but it’s only 100m water resistant. And it’s 2000$...
Well, it says it on screen in the specs and I talk about it in the written review. My job is not to sway anyone one way or the other, it is to put out a review on my opinion based on many factors. As I said, it’s a good watch, I think it could have been a great watch.

I have the P104 and I absolutely love it! At 1200 it holds it's own through the super unique dial and the incredible bracelet (not clasp). It is honestly the best/most comfortable bracelet I've worn short of a modern rolex oyster bracelet. (Better and more comfortable than my modern tudors, omegas, and grand seikos)
All this makes the garbage clasp that much more irritating bc of how high quality everything is on the outside but then falling short on a part of the watch that could have been upgraded so easily. To make matters worse the clasp doesn't even close securely all the time.
As much as I love the C1000 and want to buy one I simply can't justify 1800 for a diver with an awful clasp and pretty much no lume.
(The updated clasp is an improvement for sure but still uses pressed metal which at this point can't guarantee a secure connection on the first try every time.)
I know it's not got the logo on it (and this comment is old) but could you buy a separate clasp & use that? I know there's a lot of OEMs and whatnot nowadays

Great video! I love videos like this that are totally honest. Personally, I love this watch. Different things are important to everyone. In my case. overall aesthetic is what attracted me. Very retro vibe, without faux patina. One of the most important things for me is crown operation. This is a nice, big crown. Easy to grasp, screws down very smoothly and solidly. Screws down and stays in place. Also a quadruple gaskets system. And a reinforced case back and very thick crystal. I firmly believe that most of what you are paying for here is the engineering that goes into a very moderate size case yet packs and amazing water resistance. Even though I am not a diver. I personally find the bracelet incredibly comfortable. I'm lucky with bracelets. Once it is fitted, with a bit of looseness, and using the middle of the micro adjusts in the clasp, it works for me. Yes, the lume is a bit disappointing. Is it this way because that's how it was back in the 60s? I guess we will never know. I do know the IWC does that on many of their pilot watches. And I don't believe it is to save money. I think they want it as the original pilot watches were. And I think that might be why Ollech and Wajs does it?! Look forward to reading more of your reviews!

I have this watch! The watch receives compliments every time I wear it. The clasp does the job. Never ever has it opened once on its owns
Interesting review . This watch is pretty much top of my wish list as I really like the the retro look . The clasp was the primary reason for holding back as it looks like something on a £10 throw away thing , but also it’s at its limit in terms of value for money. I note in the comments section the strap is going to be upgraded . I’ll watch their site . I’ve bought an Oris Aquis Baikal a few months ago and managed to get a decent discount on a new watch and that clasp is the polar opposite , really tough and well engineered . I think it’s the same movement internally though . The Ollech website says it’s a sapphire crystal ? Did I mishear ? . The other shortlisted watch is the Sinn 104 , which is pretty much the same money as this. I’d suggest both are selling really well. Neither are offering any discounts as yet, whereas pretty much every micro brand that I follow is emailing with discounts at the moment . Clasp aside I think this beads of rice bracelet looks a lot better than the nearest thing Sinn offer. I might go for the alcantara strap, although that negates it’s use in the water. Maybe buy that as an extra as I love the look of it . Good review anyway, so thanks
I have this watch and I love the retro style, I bought it second hand for about £500 on the strap but I wanted the bracelet. O&W have recently released the bracelet for sale separately and I purchased one, the clap on mine is slightly different than on the one shown in its now got three adjustment points but I will add that’s it’s still very simple and not as high quality as some of my collection. I just love it and it gets lots of wrist time but I do agree that it’s expensive new so maybe bide your time and pick up a pre-owned one as I did.

This piece is on my want list however pushed back due to price. I don’t care about SS bands as I favor rubber, leather or nato styles. But I also wished for sapphire insert and more lume. For comparison purposes my want list is Tourby military vintage 40mm, CW compressor once they fix the alignment with super compressor, CW sapphire, and Le Forban malouine blue dial.
My favorites watches of this brand are the P-104 and P-101.
This may have been mentioned, but Titoni has released an in house manufactured swiss chronometer 600 meter diving for same price. It looks good in my opinion.

Probably a silly thing to say, but if I'm paying 1600 euros I'd expect a proper wooden box. I love the watch but maybe a bit pricey for the brand.
They had really eye catching divers in the past back in the 60s , they should consider bringing back the vinatge Caribbean 1000 , and the selectron computer
A very good review, I was going to purchase this but now decided to look towards Doxa, Mido, Swiss Military, Yema, Alpina and even Seiko Prospex/Presage models. In this price range give and take a couple of hundreds I’m sure to find watches that have similar “retro” looks and with better build quality and features. Love it love it love it. But can’t justify the $1800 price tag if it was in the region of $800 to $1000 I would buy it, enjoy it and make love to it. But at $1800 I am on the fence and I hope it had an exhibition back as the rotar looks amazing. But definitely on the wish list.
A handsome looking watch, particularly the bracelet until you open the clasp. That was a poor decision by O&W to reduce cost on a key point of contact with watch. That would need to be upgraded for me to consider buying this. Otherwise, refreshing and more appealing than, for example, an Oris Aquis which you mentioned.

The Rolex 5513 wasn' t much to brag about back in 1965 either, and it had a suckful bracelet as well. All I am seeing is moaning and groaning about the clasp on this one, but I own a few OW divers and in terms of tough and fairly reliable I'll put my money down on this one more than some gimmicked out Tudor Black Bay or way too fancy Omega bling job 300m any day.
First off. This isn’t 1965.
Second, this isn’t moaning and groaning. It is a review, with my thoughts and opinions on a watch review channel and website that people fortunately come to, to seek advice about watches. This watch had a Chinese bracelet and clasp (new bracelet and clasps are on the way apparently) that didn’t match the case construction and a dial I felt was too dull.
I get it, you’re a fan of this watch. That is great, please enjoy your purchases. But don’t come on here with some rhetoric about watches from the past, just say you own the watch and feel it’s a good watch etc.

@@Not-a-bot222 customer service was basically non existant. Watch runs great, I just expected better for the price and I had an issue with a slightly misaligned bezel.
They dismissed the complaint as being due to hand assembly which I found to be redundant.
I would recommend the watch but don't pay full price.

As much as I like the watch, I don't see anything exciting, especially with that price tag. It has a Swiss movement but so do several micro brands (with excellent cases/bracelets/clasps etc) and sell for a fraction of the price. And what is it with every firm releasing retro watches, I mean it's fine to keep the past but dwelling via commercialization becomes boring at the very least. I'm not young hence would enjoy the retro look but the world moves on so is technology and watchmaking. There screws replacing the pins and ceramic/sapphire inserts replacing aluminum etc. Why does everyone need to follow this "trend", perhaps is it because it's easier instead of investing weeks if not months creating a unique model.....I see an Oris here, bracelet and case wise. Review, well worded, well presented, 10/10 , watch in review 5/10. Thank you for sharing.

I love the Caribbean diver style watches so I wanted to like this watch, but it has far too much going against it.
The Dial and hands ( and perhaps the case ) may also be sourced from China, and not just the bracelet.
using a pressed metal clasp on a watch this expensive is unacceptable.
using a base ETA 2824 on a watch this expensive is less than ideal.
There are plenty of other watch brands to consider in this price range.
Before claiming I'm being overly critical, I happen to be a big fan of the brand. I think their deigns are excellent.
As a watch enthusiast however, you come to expect a certain level of quality at a particular price point.
Unfortunately, Ollech & Wajs have fallen short in some areas. First of all, using a pressed metal clasp on a watch this expensive, screams CHEAP.
It is clearly a cost cutting measure that is best avoided. The second thing is, the movement needs to be upgraded.
One would expect Ollech & Wajs to use a TOP grade ETA 2892-a2 for this price ( or a comparable Sellita movement )
Using an off the shelf ETA 2824 is not impressive in the least.
QUARTERS-EYE when you say push pins, you mean for the bracelet? This one has one piece screw bars, not pins.

Using a pressed metal clasp is clearly a cost cutting measure, and should be avoided. To be frank, if they had used push pins on the bracelet .. ( I'm glad they didn't ) my complaint would have been the same. Pressed clasps and push pins are purely done to save money. For what Ollech & Wajs are asking for this watch, it should have a proper milled clasp.

i love the design, so it only makes it more difficult to say this: why pump up your watch to 1km wr if you are going to end up with a fatness of 15.8mm? also, what is up with the 50mm lug to lug? totally unnecessary and too long for wrists of 17cm or smaller. p.s. dear watchreport, where is the lume shot?

Also, its funny to hear everyone these days across multiple platforms bitching about the sizing being too big. I’m not sure what happened, but 42mm watches used to be considered small and nowadays people want 38 and 40mm with short lug to lugs. I’m not judging, it is just an observation over the past decade I have been doing this.
@@watchreport first of all, i apologize for the lume question. i have been a wis for 8 years now, and i prayed for this "vintage revival" to come. finally, in 2019 and 2020 my prayers were answered! i got a 17cm wrist and i prefer 36-38mm dress watches and 40-42mm diver watches. the chronographs, 38-41mm. and regardless of the watch type, a 50mm lug to lug is always a cold shower.
You're fascination with a watch's lume is funny.
It’s not my fascination with lume. It’s a review, many want to know how the lume is, how long it lasts etc, and to many an important part of their buying decision. It may not be to you or necessarily me, but I test it and give info.
Jan 2022: I bought one totally regret it lume sucks, misaligned bezel, the clasp is cheap and thin. Spend your money on a different watch.

Overpriced! You can get a good squale 500m for half that price which has a better dive pedigree.
Hate the Clasps ! For $1800 they can give a much better clasp than that with side press spring clasp n 2nd safety lock over that or something similar to Rolex glide lock system! The case looks much like Seiko 62MAS ... Size is a plus for small wrist guys! The lume is horrible for paying so much 😫
The finishing on the hands is poor. Between that and the clasp it’s a pass. A shame, because it’s a great looking watch.
It's like Zodiac watches. Has that cheap look so it's hard to justify that pricetag.

I thought the same thing when I saw the shitty pressed metal clasp. it's complete garbage.
Mine seems to be of better quality then this one mines lumed all the way around
