I remember the random owl trend haha like the moustache trend
sO rANdoM
Oh my god I totally forgot I had a moustache necklace in Year 12 that I was obsessed with, how did that completely erase from my memory until I read this comment aha
lmao why did we have the exact same journey except i'm still stuck in monochrome phase
Monochrome is life
I feel like “personal style” in terms of things I like and my “personal styles” in terms of things I can afford and have the confidence to wear are two concepts that have never met each other.
Looool i relate to this too much
such a nifty vid, also just wanted to say- i remember leaving a pretty critical comment on one of your capsule wardrobe vids a while back, about how you seemed to be buying ‘too many’ new pieces while trying to advocate for this more sustainable movement. i know you probs won’t see this or remember that comment, but i just wanted to apologise for it. especially hearing you say now that u were realising a capsule wardrobe may not be for you bc of weight fluctuations, like.. i go through the exact same thing! i dunno why i was being so judgemental and holding you to such an impossibly high standard at the time, expecting you to get it all right on the first try. guess i was just frustrated with fast fashion in general n takin it out on you but obviously that wasn’t fair, you’re just out here being a person and trying to do your best in a way that’s certainly more ethical than many other influencers. but yeah, i’m sorry for that, i remember you replying to it at the time being apologetic and respectful which is why it stuck in my mind. love u
Thank you for this! I hope you’ve found some lovely clothes for your wardrobe that make you feel fab ❤️
@@lucymoon 💖💖💖
This comment and interaction is the best thing I've seen on the internet today.
Its not about being right, but about admitting sometimes things might be wrong. 😁
I HAD to comment: nina, you are awesome. Many people never own up to having been unfair or judgmental. Your comment shows character, honesty, kindness and integrity, four things you cannot buy with all the money in the world.
Loved seeing all the photos of you in your "indie" days, so early tumblr!
Nothing better than being a teen in the 90’s #indiekid
If any of y'all aren't bothered about the pandora stuff, Lucy gets into her style evolution bit at around 04:50 x
I’ve been meaning to ask for ages, and you reminded me when you said about panic buying clothes for emergencies like weddings, but would you consider making a video on more formal fashion for events like weddings/dinner parties etc? I’ve admired your style for years and I’m finally starting to sort out my own wardrobe into something that resonates with me but I have no idea what I like or what suits me formally since I’m not as girly as I used to be and love a neutral palette like you! Would be fab to see your take on it :)
honestly your neutral phase really really inspired me, like when picking a coat to go out i usually wondered mmmh would this look as good as lucy's?? lol
Okay the dark hair is a LOOK!!
serving cool vampire mum vibes and i love it
I want to know what colour it is. Really feeling it
Dark hair looks so beautiful on you! Really brings out your eyes and complexion, plus the red compliments everything
one of my favourite things about pandora is that i could find all of the factory information facts easily on their website. we stan a transparent brand and one that also acknowledges where they can go further in their ethics work
I've been looking at your cheekbones this whole video! You look stunning in this video! That red color suit you, so well!
I love how you link your identity of being an art historian to your interest in high fashion! I've always struggled to explain why haute couture, design and fashion interests me so much even though in real life you couldn't tell from my outfits. However, I'm a cultural and gender historian and I think what we wrap around our bodies is so interesting and also sometimes really beautiful to look at and that is justification enough! And sometimes I forget that.
It's so funny to see your style reflecting American RUclipsrs, cause it's around the same time my sole influence was British RUclipsrs (I'm Canadian) - it looks like our styles have grown in very similar manners!
I x I’ll
i don't know how i never saw that photo of you from the dior show but i'm in love with the look! high fashion is something i've always seen to be so foreign and out of reach, however now that fashion week/shows are being documented more online and by "influencers" (and is generally talked more widely about) it seems to be becoming more accessible for a wider audience which i certainly appreciate
it’s incredible that other RUclipsrs had influenced your fashion, because you influenced my fashion!! I remember desperately saving up for the Topshop Jamie jeans ahaha, I remember you used to swear by the black ones! great vid girly✨
A tip on getting your second lobe piercings: make sure you go to a reputable piercer that uses high quality titanium or gold internally threaded or threadless jewellery. Also, I wore thin hoops when I had mine pierced and forgot to consider that all of my studs are bigger/wider than 1.5mm hoops, so now I can’t wear studs in both holes at the same time as they are too close together. So keep the distance between the holes in mind if you ever want to wear multiple studs :)
true, violette is so inspirational!
currently I'm having an all black "Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina meets broke art student" phase out of necessity: all my tops & bottoms match, & I don't have to separate the laundry, it's very practical :D
I spent eight years extricating myself from my 12 month owl phase, I thought I was free until someone have me an owl print tote bag for Christmas last year
my style has been influenced by you SO MUCH- i have watched you since year 12 and now I have graduated University. You are still and only RUclipsrs that I watch consistently. Neural and Pastels is what my current style is
this was such an interesting video!! i'd love to see more about your style like summer lookbooks and everything to see how your styles going. or a video about where your style is now and what you're excited to explore for the rest of this year! have a fab day
I also had curls as a teen but lost them when I started on hormonal birth control at around the same age! I finally caught on when my mum was telling me about losing her curls during pregnancy and getting them back after menopause!
Didn’t expect to love this video as much as I did!! 💓
you probably won't remember, but 14 year old me met you at sitc in 2018 and i told you that i'd cut bangs and started wearing round glasses because of you☺️ i've always loved your style!! 💛💛
Hahaha I love that! 💕
I really relate to your style journey, I think mine was so similar - especially that phase of the owls and omg the moustache 2013 phase?!?! and that comment on brandy Melville and only being able to wear their tops but never their bottoms. Every time I would go in to their store when I was a teenager and I’d take a pair of their trousers to the fittings rooms and be so disappointed they wouldn’t fit lmao - now I definitely don’t bother!
God, this was like peering into my soul. The emo pics killed me. We've taken essentially the same style journey. And I, too, had a SAVE FERRIS shirt. Your current style inspires me to figure my shit out!! Keep killing it, cutie!
I really enjoyed this! Also YES, get the tattoo!!!!
Lucy ive been watching your videos for years now and I can see theres a glow in your eyes. Im really happy that youre happy. You deserve it sis❤️
Living for your content at the moment!
omg pandora must LOVE you for this. i hope they do ! amazing vid, thank u lucy hope ur well💖
I can truly say that I come to your channel when I need inspiration. I love how you dress and your philosophy on fashion!
I’m actually in entering a “capsule wardrobe” phase right now. Trying to be very intentional about the clothes I’m buying. Good quality, some very much needed basics, and a few things that are very much me. I finally got the Docs I’ve been wanting since I was 15
I think this is one of the best videos you've made!!! I loved it!
Love this! I find it really interesting seeing which of my clothes stay with me on my journey, esp when there are things I may ignore for a couple of years then bring back
You know what, I’ve never liked the look of pandora BUT after hearing about the ethics of the company? I might purchase myself a ring
This is a really lovely retrospective! I love hearing you being able to look back on things and say "this is why i did x, this is why I moved away from that" - people grow and change and it's lovely to see. Also, very good brand integration 😚👌
This was so interesting to watch. I used to be really into fashion and I can so relate to most of your phases (I had so. many. owl necklaces lmao). I haven't bought clothes in so long now in an effort to live more sustainably and it's something that's worked for me for a long time, but I've gained a bit of weight during lockdown - nothing fits right, and I'm honestly just sick of seeing the clothes I have. I don't usually like to hold on to things, but since my weight fluctuates, I'm thinking I need to put a lot of my clothes in storage and if I do end up losing a bit of weight, I'll be happy to see them again and they'll sort of feel new.
What a journey!! You are the only RUclipsr I know of who has taken such an awesome analysis of your personal style journey, and it’s really inspiring. It makes me want to do a deep dive into mine and see how my style evolved, what mistakes I made, etc. this is so valuable! Your content is so relatable and awesome.
Your content lately has been top notch. Loveee it
I just wanted to say that your style at university- particularly the midi skirt with doc martens and the t-shirt under a slip dress- looked so assured on you. I usually am not bowled over by neutrals but there was just something about your way of styling that was very chic. xx
Literally loved this video!! Thank you so much Lucy!! ❤️
OMG the midi skirt stripy top combo with the docs is just soooo lovely!
I loved this video so much, and as someone who has always been inspired by your style it's been fun to try and compare how my style has changed in relation to yours. this was wonderful and I love how your style has changed! it's great these days, but in my eyes, always has been.
this vid made me realise how much i’ve been influenced by lucy! i’ve been subscribed since 2016 and lucy’s been such a style icon since then
I really loved this video ! and the red top looks so good on you !
this was SO good! and that red colour looks amazing on you
Really interesting video! Now I want to go back through old photos to see my own style progression... I'm personally kind of going through a style/wardrobe feel as well at the moment, which I think was sparked by a combination of moving far away from my family (and therefore not being able store all of my unwanted or out of season stuff at my mom's house), turning 29 and looking ahead at what my 30s will be and then the pandemic and how it has made comfort of clothes a much more important factor for me. I'm trying to be more and more mindful about what I bring into my wardrobe, and I'm on day 1 of doing a 30-day style diary to see what from my wardrobe I actually wear...
I really admire how reflexive you are and it makes me want to journal again in order to remember the different phases and states of mind I go through... Thank you for that!
Looking at my wardrobe recently made me think of how you influenced my style and still do to this day! It started with that cropped Weekday grey shirt that you wore in one of your videos and then the loose grey jumpsuit from asos! Love your style!
Luc I really really enjoyed this video, maybe because I feel like my style has been influenced by yours so they grew along each other a lot, but also it's just a great video hearing you narrate your style journey!
I loved going through your style evolution because at some points I started to find inspiration within your style and it's funny to see what elements we were both going for. lol nice video (:
This was so interesting Lucy! Absolutely loved it
I just want to say that this is maybe the 5th time I've watched this video. And I'll probably watch it more. So calming, so interesting, I basically know all of it by heart by now. Love!!
I love this idea so much for a video! I'd love to see youtubers do this more because it really shows how we adapt to trends
Back in 2017 I went on an exchange year to the UK and you inspired med to start a capsule wardrobe during that year! I’ve kept it up since moving back home to Norway and I feel like it suits me very well! Sometimes I do find it hard to feel inspired when styling my outfits, but I love the simplicity of fashion in Scandinavia so when I feel bored I just try to draw inspiration from people around me in the streets! My mum who has only worn black since she was a teen in the 1980s is also a huge fashion inspiration, because if you can look good wearing the same colour every day for 40 years you must be doing something right!
I love your videos so much! I was recently diagnosed with a serious case of Graves disease and Hyperthyroidism and started a treatment that is making me gain so much weight and, as someone who has been bullied because of it during my whole life, it's been a process of rediscovering my worth and that a jeans size should never define me. Thank you for talking about body fluctuations and how difficult is to maintain a "sustainable capsule wardrobe" when you need to change so many pieces through the whole process.
Love you already!
This is just lovely :) I'm having a very busy working from home day, and it's nice to have something to make me take a proper break!
The red top you are wearing looks sooooo good!!
Loved the video Lucy!! And also I relate hard 😂💕
I think that was a very interesting video. I've been following you for a while so that was a good trip down memory lane.
Seeing Lucy's teenage scene and indie phases was such a blast from the past and now has me thinking of my very similar teenage styles, going from my side fringe and thick eyeliner to everything I owned being from a charity shop. I think one of the hard things about developing your personal style/s is that it can take time to really figure it out, let alone to actually build up or transition from own style to another
Lucy, I just started watching, but this top is GORGEOUS.
This was such a great video, nice to see how your style has changed! I think your current style is lovely and really suits you, especially your hair. Also, your younger days gave me major nostalgia, I was so into owl things myself, I still cringe whenever I see photos of myself holding my equally questionable owl bag haha.
Thank you for this video Lucy! This made me reflect a whole lot about my personal style, I also went through the pop punk phase, wanting to wearing coloured jeans and band tees. I also feel this transition coming I to my mid twenties and I am looking in my wardrobe like, what do I like here?!
i'm 22, in uni and only just starting to find a true personal style! i realised that for the past few years my go-to outfit was an oversized t-shirt tucked into skinny jeans, with docs and a hoodie. only recently trying to play with colour, skirts and trying a bit of a boho style. it was nice to hear in your video that it's normal to only start finding your style at this age. thoroughly enjoyed :)
I loooved Klaus says play the record!! I want that t shirtttt!
Loved this video! I really love watching how other people went through the same phases of time but pulled it off in different ways
I've always been a princess girly girl for as long as I can remember. My style has evolved from like long skirts and jeans to skater dresses and like 50s cuts. I found Joe Brown's at like 16 and haven't really shopped anywhere else because their sizing and fit is PERFECT and they use normal women to model them (like tall and slim in an athletic way rather than stick thin like we're used to seeing). So my styles very quirky, I wear muted/dusky colours with brightly coloured tights (60+ denier) for most of the year and my bright summer dresses for summer.
However I do own one pair of jeans bc my family lives in the countryside and I live in Liverpool AKA biggest wind tunnel in the UK.
People that know me go "It's just a very YOU style" but I recently stumbled on the silly internet "aesthetic-core" thing, and I think Meadow-core would be the perfect way to describe it. It's not quite cottage core and it's not really anything other than "can I frolic in this?" And then apply that to all seasons.
However I am getting more and more interested in the vintage scene, I'm interested in channel skirt suits and proper 40s/50s outfits and Victorian/Edwardian silhouettes and the possibility to play dress up everyday basically. Idk if it's cos I'm older that I want to cover up more or if im just into it. It's funny how we change over time
I used to watch you on Because the Internet so I’ve seen a big chunk of this in real time! It’s been really interesting to see this all in one go tho x
You look absolutely stunning in that color!
Also can I just say that the comment sections on your video's are much nicer than they were like even a year ago? Love!
Honestly people are such gems atm, really appreciate everyone 🤍
I'm so envious that you've managed to figure out your personal style for the most part. My wardrobe is a complete mess because I'm obsessed with three very different aesthetics so nothing goes :(
the three outfits from 14:30-14:50 give me major dodie vibes haha I love it
idk about u but lucy’s style when she was a teen reminded me of how characters dressed in skins HAHA
Julia Gats same
Wow the first part of this video is such a trip down memory lane!
I loved this video! You and I are almost exactly the same age so your style journey really closely mirrors mine haha. You’re one of the very few influencers whose style I really enjoy and (occasionally) copy. Love the mixed-metal jewelry, by the way - I might try that!
Summer continues to be a huge styling block for me, especially with personal concerns re: body dysmorphia+function
Such a cool video Lucy! How come I can relate to so much of what you’re saying though? (I’m French for context) - the emo phase, the deep side fringe, American Apparel hoodies, doc martins, black and whites and then neutrals only! I can also relate to what you’re saying about weight gain in your late twenties and how it can impact your style. One thing I’m struggling with at the moment (well pre COVID) is figuring out how to dress for work while not losing my soul to the corporate world 😂 Dressing smart or even smart casual feels so foreign to me and I hate the fact that not abiding by those rules could impact my career. Especially as a woman; I feel like men can just go about their day with smart pants and a jumper but god forbid I repeat an outfit or not wear make up.
I love that you show empathy towards your younger self! I definitely went through the same "emo / scene " phase in my youth, and I was filled with so much cringe, but weirdly enough, some elements I wear to this day! Some colors, some textures, I had to try out to know what worked or didn't work. I like that you show empathy so that people can feel bold to try new things, and not be ashamed of their older self. Anyway, this was fun!
You look so good in red!
I have watched this video so many times and find it so funny how you talk about how many of your younger style influencers were the American RUclipsrs. I am an American who found you in my teens and have stayed with you as I have reached my 20s mainly because of your personality but your style has personally had a huge effect on me.
The blue eyeliner is kind of a look though?? Would look cool as just a cat eye!
I'm hungover watching this and this is the best cure
I would love to see something about styling your body when it changes! Im transitioning out of college athletics and my body is definitely changing and while I still love it and appreciate it I have no idea how to find a new style.
You look gorgeous in red!! ❤️ Love your style! 😊 Love from Greece
You’ve got cheekbones for DAYS 😍
Your red top looks absolutely gorgeous with your skin and hair :)
Personal style absolutely exists! Many people can own the same item, but the ways they dress it are so unique to them and their eye. It makes the world a more beautiful place.
wow this is giving me flashbacks to my soft emo/tumblr indie days..... i love it
Great video, had an urge to upgrade my style ever since my jeans started getting holes in the sides. But always end up spending money on other things, never been one to stop online so hard to adjust to the covid world.
A lovely video 🥰
unrelated but your skin is looking so clear and healthy!!
This makes me so nostalgic :(
you’re so right 3oh!3 is still ahead of their time
that color suits you!
this was a very lovely video
i really enjoy this video! it is a fun way to talk about style! i also LOVE that red top! where is it from?
I still have such a soft spot for chunky Dr. Martens, I used to wear them in the pit during concerts for toe protection.
Holy shit the prom dress thing is iconic
You look beautiful in that color. I just came upon your channel ☺️ subscribed so quick.
Great Vlog! Even though you're a self-confessed "neutral" queen, the infusion of colour from the red top that you're wearing looks so good on you.
