Yes! Normalize weight fluctuations girl!! . I love how you didn’t demonize it. It’s just a part of life. Styles change, bodies change, budgets change throughout our life’s and you just adjust your wardrobe to those every changing factors.
i just want to say how really lovely it is to see someone smile and laugh when clothing no longer fits. i often beat myself up a little or feel remorseful when clothing doesn’t fit me anymore, especially when i realized how much weight i’ve gained. i really love the way lucy treats herself and treats her body, it’s really inspiring
I would absolutely love if you did a “basics” video. Like what items in your wardrobe that you feel are the most key items to have in your capsule, and maybe a few different price point suggestions? Like two great places to buy a perfect basic white tshirt, one slightly less pricey than the other? I just feel like your neutral colored wardrobe has really developed over the years and I’d love to see where you get all your staple/basic items!!
Thank you for showing weight fluctuations in a capsule wardrobe video, and letting go of clothes that no longer fit. Its not something I see a lot in other sustainable / edited style content. I did a big wardrobe clear out recently, and had to get rid of all / most of my jeans because they no longer fit. My proportions are so that many things fit my waist but not my stomach/ bum, so finding stuff that does fit well, can be difficult. Not to mention, that it is disheartening to be on a student budget to have to pass on clothes, that I want to keep, but I at the same time it would be better to let go of, in the process of accepting my current size. So In summery, I am here for it x
ugh this is me, too. pants were impossible to find even when I was a 4/6/8 and now at a 10 the few pairs I had that did work don't fit anymore, so I have this compulsion to hold onto them, but it just makes me sad. It's upsetting to look back and think, wow I was so small # of years ago, but I didn't feel small then, I still felt huge and buying pants was still impossible.
Knitter here, some advice to get as much water out of jumpers as possible. Instead of rolling them in the towel like you did, wrap them in a towel like a burrito and then WALK over them! You'll get more water out and avoid the arm workout! Personally I do something a bit different with my big handknit things that will take forever to dry. I soak them for 30min in cool to warm water with some delicate hair shampoo (wool is hair at the end of the day isn't it?), and rinse in clean water. Then I throw it in the washing machine for a SPIN ONLY cycle and select 600rpm. This takes way more water out that I ever could manually with a towel. For delicate stuff I'd recommend spinning them one by one as you want to avoid any friction. Friction and abrupt temperature changes are what cause felting.
Laura W As a knitter as well this is how I do it as well! I don’t have a washing machine so I just roll it in the towel and step on it. Works really well and speeds up the drying time but quite a lot!
Wow! How have I lived without this info up to now? My husband is always bothered by the knits dripping in the shower. Definitely going to use this method, thanks
I find it so hard to get rid of the clothes that I once fit and I want to get back to that size but like elizabeth says in eat pray love, it’s time to go on a little date with a girl friend and buy myself some bigger jeans! nothing wrong with buying myself some big girl pants, I am so over feeling guilty about my body changing over the years!!!
Thanks so much for normalising weight change, I've always fluctuated with my weight and it really affects my self esteem. Trying to learn to be kinder to myself about it because its totally normal! Forever my fave RUclipsr x
This is exactly the content I've been hoping for! I really feel like care and maintenance is the missing link in my attempts to be more sustainable with my clothes. If you were thinking of making anything else about clothes care (or even like accessory care? Bags and jewellery and stuff?) I'd love to see it! 🌝
this video motivated me more in 25 minutes to put away and sort my unwanted cooler weather clothes than like. the 3 months i spent berating myself about it prior. 💖💖 thank u lucy ur vibes are impeccable!!!
I really love that you openly embraced the experience of things just no longer fitting and that being okay :) I would also really really love to see the 30 outfits video!
Ok so i just tried the shoe cleaning mix and OH MY GOD???!? it has saved my vans and converse that a destroyed at work!! they look almost new thank u Luce 💗
Thank you for your honesty, girl. Realistic content. Bodies do change throughout life. Its normal. You are more beautiful than ever, I think. Well done, Lucy ❤
I absolutely loved this! Thank you for normalizing body changes and sharing some great cleaning tips. I feel so motivated to do a clear out of my own wardrobe. Can’t wait for your autumn haul!
Thank you for talking about fluctuating weight and letting go of things that fit you when you were not at a healthy weight!! This is something I have such a hard time with but I have to keep reminding myself that its better to get cloths that fit me than try to force myself back to the size I was.
Yup our bodies are strong and healthy (goal) and we have survived a pandemic. Rest are details just did a brutal winter cull ordered my faves two sizes up ( they are out there used!) will tackle spring when it comes. It’s not our job to fit our clothes as you so wisely said. It’s our clothes’ job to fit us otherwise time to move on. Thank you! Loved this video snd the happiness in your life.
Loved this video Lucy, super cosy and motivational content! Thank you for reminding us all that weight fluctuation is a totally normal, natural thing. Now i'm off to organise my own wardrobe.
Please do a styling video! It is so important and refreshing to see a styling video of someone with similar body shape to mine (and many other people)! Everytime you show your winter wardrobe I feel like I need to up my game of soft sweaters :D
As someone in recovery from an ED I really appreciated you talking about how natural it is for weight to fluctuate! Half my clothes no longer fit me - but that’s ok, it means we get a new start in life 😊
i love this video so much lucy! i’ve been subscribed since the 168 hours in paris video, and the quality, the aesthetic, the articulation of this video makes it one of my favourites of yours!
A perfect video! I've been reading marie kondo's book so this hits the spot. Can't wait to move so I can declutter AND WOULD LOVE A STYLING OUTFITS VIDEO! x
So inspiring and chill to watch along with. I can't wait to switch over to my Autumn clothes! And, yes please, to a styling vid or a more in depth look at what you kept. I'm always looking for new ideas and really trying to buy less/invest more :)
Thank you for sharing this with us, it was all rediculously soothing ☺️ would deffo watch a video about styling and a haul would be good to see what you're adding for the upcoming season 😊
This felt very close to home - I gained quite a bit of weight in recent years (thanks to stress and mental health) and at least half my clothes didn’t fit me (went from a UK10-12 to UK16-18). I also put my favourite things away and now, after losing 20kg, I enjoy these about 15 pieces immensely. And good on you for not romanticising being very small! I think it’s very important to listen to your body and not the scales or some tiny clothing.
I did this exact same thing and honestly 90% of my wardrobe didn’t fit. It has made me feel so much better about myself having nice clothes that for I have felt guilt buying so many new clothes this year but realistically I didn’t have much choice and feel privileged to be able to afford new stuff. Anyway take care lovely content from you as always 💕
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's like "I LOVE this and can't part with it even if I don't fit into it right now" (looking at you black polka dot dress that I've not been able to fit into for 3 years 😭 ) I would LOVE a 30 outfits video ❤ I'm getting SO Incredibly bored of my wardrobe (even my formal wear which I wear on Fridays cos fuck it I work from home still) logically I know I don't need any new pieces but I made a Pinterest board and my "I like dresses and bright colours" has been called into question with the "cool girl wearing jeans and neutrals" vibes like... idk if that's cos all the girls are models in these pics and it's aspirational or if I just like jeans and neutrals like... at least my main problem rn is an identity crisis haha 😂
I just discovered neutral colours through Lucy like one or two years ago and it made me want to change my wardrobe so badly... I'm currently swapping out my teenager-multi coloured stuff gradually as it is not wearable anymore (god it's so embarrassing how cheap some it is and looks to me now) and changing it out for more high-quality neutral clothes. I guess my style will change again eventually but even then I can build up on the clothes I'm buying right now. It's both exciting and exhausting :)
For my wool and cashmere jumpers I personally just wash them in washing machine on "hand wash" or "wool" program on 30 degrees and very delicate spin. I did that to vintage jumpers, hand made ones, new bought and never had an issue with it. If anything, real wool is more durable and doesn't deteriorate at all (exept in high temperatures). As for suede, you're not supposed to clean it with water ever cause it stains it permanently.
Something I have noticed in your video that I had struggles with was whites and greys turning blue. I saw you used a blue colored detergent and something I have had happen to me a few times now was anything white I put in the wash with colored (mostly blue) laundry detergent got dingy and even got blueish splotchy stains on them. Its likely the detergent causing your blue tinted white shoes and the grey shoes coming out weird. I now use a clear unscented detergent and fabric softener and I get them smelling nice in the dryer with dryer sheets. And if something needs to be air dried, I put it in a no heat fluff cycle for a few minutes with a fabric sheet after the clothing has fully dried so it isn't stiff. I hope this helps!
Important: for the de-bobbler, I have the same one, you have to take of the protective cap (the plastic bit in a flower-kinda shape?) and the result is much better! I made this mistake before, took me a while to figure out 😅
If you have a dryer then you can clean your wool jumpers in the dryer bags which are dry clean bags you can get on Amazon.and you just pop them into your dryer.
I ve been ruthlessly decluttering my wardrobe. I m at a point where I m satisfied with the number of items I have. I wear all of them. I didnt keep anything uncomfortable or worn out.
Thank you for talking about how weight fluctuation is normal! Its so hard for me to remember that extra weight does not reduce my value on myself even though i don’t care what size others are
Did you rinse the jerseys a few times in clean water after washing? There are lovely wool washes at the supermarket that are 1/10 the price of the laundress and they smell amazing scents like lavender or eucalyptus.
You've inspired me to want to wash my jumpers, even though I live in California right now and it's too warm to wear them even in winter. They were all hand knit by my grandmother so they're very beloved and I've always been too afraid to wash them but after seeing the water that came out of yours and thinking about how long I've had them and how often I wore them.... I shudder to think...
Ugh I can’t wait to do this. I’m graduating college (uni) in May so I’m waiting until I move to my next place (unsure where that will be) before I do a complete clear out but I’m soooo looking forward to it
Yeah the best trick is to make it fun and have a go at it. So I now listen to music to make it fun. Ever since I started listening to bands I'm currently into like Delta Parole instead of just turning on the radio the I'm done so fast (well almost hehe). XOXO
Hi lucy! enjoyed the video v much, was so pleasing to watch. Maybe what messed up your shoes color was that you used a blue detergent for clothes in the solution you prepared? perhaps you can try using a neutral white soap for next time
I appreciate you talking about weight fluctuation so much, I wish it was more normalised & people recognised that it’s so unlikely you will stay one size forever - that’s normal & ok, & doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong w you ❤️
Loved this! I can relate to sorting through clothes so much- my weight fluctuates between a size 10-12 and it can be hard to keep up with sometimes. I do find it useful to keep track of what fits and doesn't and I am happy to see you do hold onto things for a little longer just to account for weight change. I do this too and it's such a good thing to be conscious about- why waste money if they will fit in a bit but at the same time we don't want to hold onto anything for too long as a mental punishment. Nice to see how you approach it, also nice to be able to relate to someone with a similar shape to me 💯

I can 100% relate. Currently dreading to clear out my wardrobe because I know that half of it is just not fitting right anymore..

I love a good roll and sit! I'll take down dry washing and pair up socks while sat on my jumper-towel roll, gets them 80-90% dry in about 5 mins 😅
Wow! How have I lived without this info up to now?
My husband is always bothered by the knits dripping in the shower. Definitely going to use this method, thanks
Same but I spin in a mesh bag then dry flat .
I always love you wardrobe-related videos!! I usually declutter my own wardrobe while listening! :)

"she be pragmatic tho" i'm inspired to declutter now
Thank you for your honesty, girl. Realistic content. Bodies do change throughout life. Its normal. You are more beautiful than ever, I think. Well done, Lucy ❤
Lucy content is PERFECT Sunday content.
Also, where is that gray hoodie from the last bit from? I'm in love.
Pretty sure the hoodie is from Hush, looks like its sold out online though hun x
you seem so much happier in your videos recently and it puts me in such a great mood
YES to your video ideas! Trying to get lots of different outfits out of your wardrobe sounds super interesting.
this has me excited to fix pill-y sweaters! also i love the term "de-bobbling" so quaint
Yup our bodies are strong and healthy (goal) and we have survived a pandemic. Thank you for this video. I love your mindset when it comes to weight fluctuation. Really needed to hear that I'm not the only one going through that.
I can't even tell you how much I love putting on one of your videos after a long, stressful day at work! 💖
This is one of my favourite videos of yours now! Your personality seemed so natural and relaxed in this! You're so sweet haha!
Loved this video Lucy, super cosy and motivational content! Thank you for reminding us all that weight fluctuation is a totally normal, natural thing. Now i'm off to organise my own wardrobe.
thank you so much for what you said in the beginning; weight fluctuation is okay and normal!
Loving the positivity, love, and honest healthy approach you have ❤️ This is so important. Thank you, Lucy ❤️
This brings me so much joy and calmness. Hope you are doing well!

oh how I have missed these videos! :)
Highly recommend the Jason Markk sneaker cleaner - it works really well!
the blurring during the trouser try-on part reminded me so much of the sims! lol
This was so satisfying to watch and I would love a styling video.
Love these vids! Will you sell any of these bits on depop? 🤍
I did this exact same thing and honestly 90% of my wardrobe didn’t fit. what a lovely autumn Sunday vid!! and yes to some styling videos :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's like "I LOVE this and can't part with it even if I don't fit into it right now" (looking at you black polka dot dress that I've not been able to fit into for 3 years 😭 )
I would LOVE a 30 outfits video ❤ I'm getting SO Incredibly bored of my wardrobe (even my formal wear which I wear on Fridays cos fuck it I work from home still) logically I know I don't need any new pieces but I made a Pinterest board and my "I like dresses and bright colours" has been called into question with the "cool girl wearing jeans and neutrals" vibes like... idk if that's cos all the girls are models in these pics and it's aspirational or if I just like jeans and neutrals like... at least my main problem rn is an identity crisis haha 😂

Your video on Sunday _did_ happen, yaaaay! 😀
The "I don't just keep them [the fabric scissors] by my bed" line had me giggling. 😁
Would love the 30 outfits styling video!! ❤️❤️❤️
I want to see all of those vids! Your style videos are my fav
Love the ~styling video~ idea!! Could really use some insp for styling outfits, especially as I am also trying to pare down my wardrobe :)
I just bought a de-bobbler on amazon.I hope it’s good and works okay!! I needed one after seeing you use it haha
LOved the video! A styling video would be great to see
We need a styling video Lucy- I need help for this transitional period ! ❤️
The jumper you changed into at the end looks so cozyyy! Where is is from?
Ugh I love your videos so much Lucy. Thank you for talking about weight fluctuation its just so fucking validating
Hi lucy! enjoyed the video v much, was so pleasing to watch. Maybe what messed up your shoes color was that you used a blue detergent for clothes in the solution you prepared? perhaps you can try using a neutral white soap for next time
This was such an enjoyable video omg I loved it, it made my day... It also made me want to declutter my wardrobe hahaha
i love how your hair looks in the sunlight. great video! gonna go google debubbling now. bie!
Just recently did my own declutter for the changing season and my weight fluctuation and it was definitely draining.
more clothing vids!! pls!!! Love your content 💫🌙
I appreciate you talking about weight fluctuation so much, I wish it was more normalised & people recognised that it’s so unlikely you will stay one size forever - that’s normal & ok, & doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong w you ❤️
Loved this! Can’t wait for the next videos!! Xx
Amazing, thank u for the inspiration
Nice to see how you approach it, also nice to be able to relate to someone with a similar shape to me 💯
I love your lipstick so much! It's the perfect fall shade. What is it?!
loved this!
Omg omg I love your makeup and hair can you please do a tutorial 🖤
Super satisfiyng video. I hope u can make one of these at least once a year
yes please to the styling video!!!
Love this video 💓 where are your under the bed storage boxes from? I need to get some for my new room
