    quick tip. you can link both equalizers to same automation. you set one to invert. then you only need one automation to switch between the equalizers.

    This is a truly great video! I have been struggling with my mixes since I started using too many various pad, string and atmo sounds. But his video helped to clear up my mixes and achecive a greater and more natural sound.
    9:30 Another great way to sidechan the reverb that I have recently learned is to create a whole separate channel for reverbs of different kind and send them all to one bus. Each of the reverbs could then be processed seprately. Fruity send is a great plugin to use in this case in order to output the signal from one chanel (pad, lead, bass) into a reverb channel.

    2:51- no need to create second automation. Just use existing one and set mapping curve to 1-x (invert).

    Can you do a video on how to add more elements to your project if you’re stuck on ideas and don’t know what else to do with it?
    I’m currently making a trance track although it sounds good with not many channels, I feel like the project could be bigger/fuller with more elements added to it!

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  2 года назад +2

      I typically start out with the main melody when I make trance music, which means that I'll typically start with the climax or the breakdown, and then fill inn the other parts afterward. In trance music, it's all about filling space in the mix if you want to get that dreamy feel, so ambiance and textures are very important. You want to constantly have sweeps and sounds that develop over time constantly in the background to fill space. It's also very important to have enough movement in your percussion, particularly in the low mids to prevent the track from sounding thin.
      If you're low on ideas it can be helpful to listen to tracks from other trance producers, that way you might get some ideas and perhaps even pick up some tips and tricks. The truth is that nobody just magically develops their own unique sound overnight. It's usually a result of borrowing/copying things from various others and then mixing them with your own preferences so that eventually something unique develops. :)

      @@FireWalkMusic Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to that. That’s some really helpful advice for me and what I needed to see! I’m gonna try incorporate all of that in this track I’m making now. I’m littrally a beginner but I’ve seemed to have picked it up really quickly I feel. It’s really exciting when you actually make something that sounds good, it really inspires you to keep pushing on it as I do procrastinate a lot!😂 Thank you again for this advice man. And keep up the good work with your videos, you’re helping so many people out. I like how simple you put it across and how streamlined your tutorials are. I have problem, sir. I loaded wav file into Newtime warper to set the other tempo. It worked well and I saved new tempoed wav file. But when I put it on pattern and play, the saved file with loaded regions clicks at stamps of these regions. Do you know, how to fix it?
    Cheers!

      Busing them together can save you a lot of work, and I typically do that myself as long as I have pads that work as a whole and nothing that needs to stand out alone :)

      What genre are you producing? I almost didn't post this tutorial because it ended up being so long. The reason for that is that there are so many ways to do this, and it all depends on what you're trying to achieve. There's really no right or wrong here. If you have a mix with few elements then you might want to do it one way. If you have an extremely busy drop then you might want to do it another way. And then you might to do it a third way during the breakdown and such. :)

      There are tons of mixing techniques available, and which one you use usually depends on the genre and the song itself, and exactly what you're trying to achieve. Nevertheless, it's good to have the know-how so that you'll know when to apply what :D
