- If I recorded every second inside an egg, from yolk till hatching, would it be possible to film the very first heartbeat? During this project I learned that a heartbeat starts even before the heart organ is present and earlier than the naked eye can see, but I ended up shooting the most intriguing footage of the full embryo development inside a little dove egg.

Because of you, my wife and I realized what we had and what we could do. We started watching you and your passion for life years ago. There were no Quail here for years and years,we started to manage every part of our little farm and the time for mowing for hay around all the wildlife we have. We now have coveys of 20 to 30 Quail now that fly back and forth to our rancher neighbors property. We have a deer we rescued from being stuck on a fence as a yearling..she comes to see us when we walk back to the back part of our farm. Spring,summer and fall we have our Box Turtle,snake and whatever else we find in the road and stop and move them. Other people are now doing the same and we always get a thumbs up when someone drives by as we move an animal off the road. It’s our respect and love of life, and all the other people that share our love.

@@katynosework There are a lot of people like us out there,never loose hope. When someone does just one compassionate act it gathers its own momentum. Especially when a person you consider real hard nose comes up and tells you they wish more people were like us and they like what you do and are doing.
Then you know they are finding compassion themselves,the ultimate gift.

Amazing! My mother is a professor of biology and ecology and I grew up studying all kinds of things in our home. To spend the afternoon with my microscope and cup of pond water to find all the different single and multi celled organisms in it was not unusual. To see the heartbeat of the first cells actually beating is amazing to me. It's something that I previously thought could only be done in a university laboratory. If I could have done this at home, I would have. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us all!

THIS. seriously. i once raised a white-winged dove chick, and it was more stressful than bottlefeeding kittens or rabbits for sure. huge props to anyone who can successfully do this.

My parakeet laid 7 eggs and seeing the tiniest heartbeats in all the eggs the size of a dime just melted my heart. All baby hatched but only 1 didn't make it. It's an amazing thing to watch growth and see little life through a flashlight

man when i was around 8 you inspired me so much my family got chickens and wanted to get a quail. i would watch your videos with my dad all the time and spend so much time with him and i randomly remembered this channel and you have created so many good memories. i lost my dad around a year ago and this feels really nice to watch this again and go through my nostalgia. thank you so much for giving me and my family so much joy and laughter and inspiration, i know you don’t know me but you made me so happy when i was a young. so thank you ❤

Hello all you good people. We have four baby red squirrels running around our trees plus momma. They all love nuts and the fruit bird mixture. We have a raccoon that visits and gets a bowl of dog food plus a marshmallow or three.not all the time. Our deer herd is camped out in the trees next to our pond..they gat a deer feed block and some whole oats from time to time. Our resident Bald Eagle is in the tree across the street on our neighbors ranch land.
All is good here and Merry Christmas and Very Happy New Year to all. We may not have much but we are rich beyond words.

Can I come live with you ?? Haha I would love to rescue animals with you. I save them around my house. I have rescued a few opossums, a baby crow being attacked by blue jays & I brought home a baby sparrow I found walking home from the grocery store. It was the only one alive out of a few. I fed it & let it go in the back of my house. I love animals. You are a sweetheart of a man. It makes my heart happy watching your videos, the time & care you put into saving these wee creatures is amazing. I love it !! ❤

I studied anatomy and physiology many years ago, and I can still remember one lecture where the teacher explained that the heart is self-perpetuating. It creates an electrical signal, which causes the muscles to contract, and the muscles contracting creates an electrical signal. When disconnected from the brain, the heart just keeps on beating.
I too have wondered about the first heart beat. I thought that perhaps it was something about the mother which started a baby's heart to beat - but, looking at this video, I think of course not because animals that develop in eggs have heartbeats too!

My humans have been watching you (and Albert the first even) for quite a long time, And I as a pigeon (rescue pigeon actually 🥰) just have to say that this was a very cool and interesting project of you. And also loved how you took the safety and wellbeing of the egg into (much) consideration 🥰.
