I fixed most of the codes and engine issues... The reason why it would not go over 3k was because the connector that went into the vtec solenoid kept popping out. Just gotta replace the intake manifold and the car is solid.

    • @BeforeTheStorm
      @BeforeTheStorm 5 месяцев назад +23

the 02 sensor codes came back on but its because the power steering rack was leaking into the connector.

@@fadedchicken I’d recommend starting with something service based first and avoid most of the get rich quick BS that’s all over the internet. Monetize skills you already have and/or choose a simple idea like window cleaning, pressure washing, landscaping, junk removal, or really anything “mobile” you can do to make people’s lives a little easier.
Remember that it doesn’t have to be forever and if you already like cars, there are lots of ways to make money in the car industry alone. Detailing, vinyl installation, painting, mobile repair, bodywork, restoring/selling junkyard parts, car flipping (if done right). Be smart, ethical, and do the work that needs doing. I truly love watching videos like this one and believe it could evolve into a great series, similar to the format of 'Buddy's DIY' channel. One suggestion I have is to delve deeper into explaining the process of fixing or diagnosing problems. Many videos assume viewers already possess a certain level of knowledge, but I find it incredibly helpful when every step is thoroughly explained. As someone who isn't as mechanically inclined as I'd like to be, I appreciate the opportunity to learn as much as possible from someone more knowledgeable. Regardless, fantastic video! Nice job......the profit made it worthwhile. Good job attending to the mechanical issues first. Before we had ODB2 readers, we had to do some detective work, although we didn't have all the modules and sensors either. I was just outside today working on a bumper cover on a work stand. Of course, with plastic, you have to use a flexible glazing putty to make certain there aren't future cracks. I think that in our case, since you have a car port, I would probably find some heavier plastic sheeting and create a makeshift paint booth. It would at least keep some trash out of your paint job. Also, I think I would buy some new hinges and/or latch for the hood instead of the hood latches. The rest of the car looks great and it sounds like you have it running good. Very resourceful project.

@ 6:12 you get a close-up of the harmonic balancer aka crank pulley. It looks broken or else an optical illusion because of grease and/or oil. If it's chipped then it won't have even dampening and this will lead to premature failure of main bearings and likely cause premature leaks for your front and rear main seals.

Something I was taught is if your swapping an engine with a junkyard unit of the same engine type, transfer your sensors onto the junkyard engine as you you know those sensor are good and working and if you know you have a bad sensor on the old engine by a replacement as 9/10 times it is good (even brand new parts can be faulty) or if the sensor is easy to get to risk it use the junkyard engines sensor

Pretty solid work for a driveway budget job. NGL, I was a little 😬 at first, but other than the bondo thing, and getting a little better setup, definitely did a great job.
You could grab some tarps or heavy plastic sheeting and a couple box fans with filters and rig up a booth in your carport for not too much effort or cost.
I found a decent paint-less dent removal tool kit is really handy and cheap way to take care of normal dents and dings for the most part, and a skim coat of Rage Gold or 3M body filler finishes it nicely, mix in a little Plastik Honey by Evercoat to enhance cheaper quality body fillers or to flow it smoother.
Name brand Bondo is too brittle and stiff for my preference.

Idk how often you paint but you should look into getting a foldable canopy that people use for events and picnics. Helps with rain and you can hang plastic from the sides to help with bugs and dust.

When masking off, its best to remove everything that would leave a clear line. For example on the door, remove the mirror, the trim below the window, and the door handle that way your paint is getting everywhere on the panel.

I used to flip cars in the early 2000s. It was easy as hell. Most cars Hondas/240sx/toyotas all about 100-500 with issues. I made so much money. I once bought an AE86 for $300. There was a time when this was fun and a good way to make money, but not anymore. These kids now think these old 90s Hondas are worth 16oz gold bullion

It does look way better. Thats why i paint. You shouldve buffed and polished the orange peel though. Bring the shine out a bit more from your clear coat. Make sure you have enough clear on, to do so, if you decide to do it again in the future.

this is basically me. restoring an ek lmao. its calm while im sanding and doing all prep work then the wind magically comes out when its time to prime the car. i just got a 10x20 tent and going to be placing a tarp under the car when its time to paint lol. now im just waiting for this random californian rain/wind to stop to get to painting

This is something I would love to try myself at home, I first would need a cheap car that I really don't care about to try it on. I would not feel right doing it to a car I drive daily, but it would be cool to try it out on a beater or a cheap car you want to try a fix up and flip. You sir have bigger balls then me. LOL You didn't do 1/2 bad man, nice job.

Quick tip on masking. Tape your perimeter first with only tape. Then use mask and tape. It’s a little more tape but will save time and you’ll have a tighter paint line.

lovely job .....for other headlights use one half of an orange on each headlamp sprinkle each with baking soda and spend around 5 minutes on each one then rinse off ,, thats it dont spare the soda when it goes sprinkle more.......or use both half's of a lemon ... i tried both on different weeks about the same result.....would of been easier if they kept it glass but plastic fades with rain sun snow .....o well .........great viewing by the way

fire vid only thing i’d suggest for next time, after body filler and before priming if there’s any bare metal left you need to etch the metal to protect it before priming unless your primer is direct to metal
