Installing a RASP-FREE Honda Exhaust! | RSX Type-S Yonaka Catback

- In today's video, we are BACK to modifying the Acura RSX Type-S! Installing (in my opinion) the BEST sounding Honda exhaust on the market. The Yonaka Catback exhaust has the perfect look and sound for an OEM+ build. Because not every Honda has to sound like a lawn mower. Enjoy!
FINALLY, I can't believe I made it almost a full year on a stock exhaust lol! Today, Jimmy joins me for a highly anticipated exhaust install on my Acura RSX Type S. Long term fans may have guessed my exhaust of choice would be a Yonaka Motorsports! After all, this is one of the best sounding Honda Civic exhausts, and it crosses over perfectly to the RSX. I wanted an exhaust system that wouldn't overpower the beautiful K series VTEC Crossover, and this was the perfect choice.
The DIY exhaust install was surprisingly easy compared to a crusty 90's Honda. A total of 5 bolts and 3 exhaust hangers and the stock system was out. The new system went in without a struggle and WOW! The camera doesn't do the low tone much justice. There is a prominent bass tone to the exhaust that can really only be heard in person. In the upper RPM's the exhaust opens up for a nice mid-low tone. As much as people like to compare Honda exhaust systems, 90% of them still sound raspy. So if you're a person that enjoys fine budget wine, you'll love the Yonaka.
Shoutout to Jimmy for helping with the install!

OEM+ builds are so satisfying, loving how this is coming out good work! 👌🏽
Thanks man! It’s coming along!
I think it sounds excellent. It would make me turn my head at any rpm.
in a few years we are probably gonna start calling them "resto-mods" lol. At this point my 72 nova i got in 2004 was almost as old as a 2004 RSX is in 2023.
@@MrVlodato Perspective. I'm cool with it, I claim this era of cars as mine.
@@justingallagher4864 I think there was a misunderstanding, i meant as in a good way. I think correctly modified cars in an OEM style is great and it especially looks good on a Honda since they never give us the good ones. The DC5 and EP3 are 2 of the most under-rated Hondas ever made.
I’m an all American V8 fanboy through and through but there is just something about these aesthetically pleasing imports that almost make me envious of their owners. The RSX Type S and the Integra Type R are two of my favorite designs when it comes to imports. I have owned 3 domestic muscle cars and they were fun but there is really something to be said about a lightweight and fuel efficient 4 cylinder car than sounds as good as this. I recently purchased a 98 ek hatch for a fuel efficient daily driver despite it’s lack of power since its bone stock it is still fun to drive and throw around a tight corner with nothing more than adjustable coilover suspension. These things feel like go karts.
K swap that thang
I'm glad you like both muscle cars and Hondas. I'm the same but instead I'm a Honda fanboy however I also like and appreciate muscle cars. I have a 75 Firebird with a 455 I'm restoring.
All cars need love lol
Fuel Efficient and power efficient. 100hp/liter usually.
I went from an 03 Miata to a 15 5.0 mustang. I have so much love for both because you can’t compare them. Imports are light and agile in corners, where’s muscle bites just as much as it barks. Such fantastic differences
Everytime I watch your videos I regret selling my ek hatch more and more
You can always get another! But hatches are a rarity for sure
@@ALLDAYANTHONY to be fair, mine was a POS. Didn’t make a great daily and was uncomfortable at high speeds. I’m in my Volvo now, and it handles 90 the same as it does 30
I’m about to sell my kswap ek hatch with extra motor and lots of goodies. Your comment is getting me too! Lol btw DC5, DC2 Gsr Turbo, and EK all 11k obo.
Clean RSX but I would recommend 3inch piping with 18inch resonator and 3inch in out muffler. Both vibrant products. Heres a clip of my ek with custom vibrant exhaust system on Dino. 225whp. K20z1 ruclips.net/video/nsDuGb6VwjA/видео.html

@@puntachu I did the Volvo switch too, I miss my Honda some days but man the 5 cyl turbo is so enjoyable
Get a another 1 with a proper suspension and enjoy
I like it! It's not too loud, or super raspy. Sounds just right especially with VTEC, and it's exactly what I would want in a Honda aside from one exhaust I saw on a CRX once, but it brings to me the best sound in a JDM car.
Agreed! Just the right tone
PERFECT SOUND!!!! I always I'm looking for a sound like this when building a 4cyl. Congrats on your build!
I'm so happy that I found this channel. This video really inspired me to work on my Honda 😊
I've been eyeing this system for my EP3 because of the 2.5" piping. Thank you for sharing the video with lots of good sound clips! I think this confirms my hopes that this will be subtle, but offer a bit of fresh breath to my old car.
Watched video. Ordered exhaust. Installed exhaust. Perfect example of stock+. Great video and great installation video. Yokaha knocked this out of the park.
I have a Yonaka on my 05 Civic ES2. It’s incredible! Deep tone and decibles are just above stock and never rasps. Looks amazing too, well rounded exhaust! 12/10 recommend
Sounds incredible inside and out!
Yes you finally got one. Congrats on the upgrade, I absolutely love there exhaust’s
Interior! Is immaculate!!
And the sound of the exhaust!!
OEM+ exhausts are so satisfying and a joy to listen to.
Sick
Edit: that crossover is insane dude!😂 those outside sound clips were awesome
Haha yes the crossover is very noticeable!
the sound of vtec crossover will never get old. makes me miss my ek coupe.
Same, it’s so addicting
Sounds too good. Sounds perfect. Not too loud and not too silent. 💯
Watching your yonaka exhaust reviews got me to order one for my d17 lol. Can't wait to install it
the amount of love you been showing hondas is crazy❤
Just trying to do them right
man i love the dc5 it looks so good, currently own a 9th gen si but i would take a clean dc5 like this anyday
It’s getting better and better!
I’ll sell you my 06 NHBP Type S with 103K miles. Looks just like the one in the video

what a beautiful exhaust note! nice choice!
I just ordered mine!!! Great choice Anthony keep the rsx content coming
Thanks fam! Appreciate you watching
Damn that thing's in nice condition. Bravo.
I've had the same exhaust system for 8 months sitting in my living room just waiting to install it on my RSX Type S
Thanks for the review and the little nudge to get me to install it. 🤟
Do it! You’ll be happy you did
dont do it you wont like it just hand it over to me ill deal with it
By far my favorite rsx build channel. Tryna get mine like this one day!
Thanks man! I wish you luck!
I also have a Yonaka catback for my 9th gen Civic SI. It's really the best of both worlds. Not too quiet but rowdy enough to still make some noise! Loved the video, keep it up
see this is the type of exhaust I like. no aggressive audio unless you give it actual power.
That’s a very tasteful build and very tasteful exhaust! Great build!
That vtec sounds soooo on point, congrats Anthony!!!!!
Thanks man!
Just bought a civic and this sound is perfect for a daily commuter car with a body kit and eBay turbo. ❤ not obnoxious at all. And real smooth install. 😮😊
Yonaka shockingly nailed it in a lot of ways with their mufflers. Are they the best quality? no. But the bang for the buck in regards of price to sound and performance ratio is as good as it gets. I had one on my DC2 for over 3 years and if I hadnt gone a different direction I absolutely would have bought another one. Nice vid!
I went with the Skunk 2 megaflow race headers-testpipe-exhaust. I get nothing but compliments. It was always a bit high sounding, but after I got the engine rebuilt, it sounds a bit lower.
Loving the video. Keep it up.
Beautiful exhaust note 🎉
Love the sound! Not too high, not too low for my liking.
Agreed! It’s just the perfect tone
I have same cat back system from Yonaka for almost 5 years. Has such a nice tone that doesn't give you headache when on the highway.
Agreed!
I have this same exhaust and went on a little cruise earlier today. It sounds so clean!
Yep, just a nice low tone!
best honda exhaust ive ever heard
Gosh I hope they come back in stock soon I’d love to install this it sounds so nice!!
Sounds perfect. Thanks for doing this!
Thanks for watching!
God damn dude that sounds BEAUTIFUL
Yonaka to me is the best rout for a daily driven Honda I ran their catback on my awd 3rd gen CRV and I loved it
Yep it’s the perfect daily exhaust :)
saw it on insta couldnt wait till you posted it on youtube 👌
Thanks for watching fam
I had one of these on my 99 integra LS, was a very pleasing sound
That looks and sounds fantastic!
Such a clean RSX!
Oh that’s absolute class
planning on buying one of these for my 97 accord. you were the one that introduced it to me, and im glad. it sounds amazing and is a nice price.
I think you’ll love it!
@@ALLDAYANTHONY i bet i will, btw, love the videos
Wasn't expecting it sound so low and calm
CLEAN RSX BRO
Great video man! Very nice exhaust sound, not obnoxious. It's good, it's mature. I often say it's very easy to make a Honda sound bad with poorly tuned exhausts. Finding ones tuned to eliminate drone and certain NVH, but still sound good is a lot harder.
I have done similar with my S2k. It's well tuned and has a nice deep sound to it, no rasp. Amazing under VTEC.
Your RSX-S is clean dude, I wish I would've got one when they were cheaper. They've aged well and look great still.
Love your vids!
The whispering sweet nothings part was amazing 😂🥹🥰
I love my Yonaka on my EK hatch! Absolutely no regrets!
That sounds lovely
Yonaka is so slept on! It’s crazy
doesn't sound ricy, yet much stronger than stock, love it!
Vtec just kicked in yo!
Super clean rsx my guy! Keep it up
Thanks man! I’m trying
Sounds fantastic
I have the same setup. It's sounds very nice and not too loud. you can hear the vtec crossover even louder
This made me fall back in love with my type s
They are great cars!
Sounds sweet, my fav exhaust sound on Civics and RSX is the Greddy Evo back in the early 2000s.
U used to run a Greddy TIC ll paired to plm header on my previous rsx type s and i loved it! Super rare exhaust now a days
It’s all day everyday nice work bro I’m still loving ur evo tho haha
Love your car man! Hands down to that exhaust company. Sounds awesome. Currently drive a 9th gen SI bone stock. But had a 02 rsx with the greddy TI-C cat back with a test pipe. And it was loud!
Sounds great dude, I'd be hella pleased with that. I live in New Zealand and grown up on JDM imports (NZ gets a flood of JDM grey imports) so kiwi car culture is very JDM heavy (we have the worlds best rotary tuners/builders for example). Even the interior sound of that on the motorway is great.
Cool Evo u got there on the backround bro!!!!!!!
like what carwizard always says clean both the socket and the bolt and hammer the socket in and then drive it out. This exhaust is just sounding amazing, love your videos on this RSX keep it coming.
Thanks man! Trying my best
Damn that sound and looks tho!!!💯😱😱😱😱
Sounds so gooooooood!
I had a 99 ex with a Yonaka catback and now a 2012 Fit with a Yonaka catback both cars sound great. Yonaka not only sounds great but is super affordable!
I’ve been thinking about getting one for my eg hatch. Great video!
Do it! Highly recommend!
Installed one on my EG and love how it sounds!
Just grabbed this exhaust this week on sale for $400. Puttting it on my MT 5th gen Prelude tomorrow. Exactly as you described it being OEM+ is what I am going for with my Prelude. I painted it from red to black, fog lights, tints, lowered it 1" with Tein coil overs, added a K&N cold air intake, red Honda emblems, & now I am putting on this Yonaka catback exhaust. All thats left is bronze 17" Volk TE37 & she is completed. I've had her for 7 years but its almost complete! Little things like a clean stereo unit, I think we have the same Pioneer head unit, 6000k white LEDS all aroudn inside & outside.
Tetsu9701 nice how many miles?
wow that's a clean honda
Design and sound reminds me of the Greddy SP2. Sounds great!
I’m rocking the KTuned race exhaust & it’s awesome!!
OEM+ is king, imho.
Perfect setup, my man. I miss my old comptech supercharged 04 type S.
I need this for mine!!!!😮
nice! Sounds great, only similar sound I've heard is the MF v6 exhaust (which I ended up getting and love) sounds great man super livable and great high rpm sound
wooooooo more RSX content!!!
Finally!
Had an HKS hi power on my RSX, which sounds pretty good as well. This video is making me miss it sorely.
I ran a yonaka on my 6th gen accord for years, sounded pretty good on that f23
god your build looks so good!! I live in Phoenix but I took a work trip to Kimberly, Idaho and found a guy selling a great condition white 02 rsx type s for $5,000 and ive been loving it for half a year now!!! has 165k and i put a 3 inch exhaust all the way through. its bassy af and has zero rasp now.
I have a 2005 Civic Coupe Ex, It's an auto but it still drives great, I can't wait to order an exhaust 🙏🏽
Oem+, I love it. ❤
yonaka fr slept on 😤
SICK!!!!
Thanks man!
Beautiful car!
Awesome job kiddo
I got a Yonaka on my 2008 Civic Si. I like it, not obnoxious but certainly loud enough.
Just sold my DC5 yesterday and I'm already missing it with these suggested videos popping up LOL
paint looks so good still
Thanks man! It’ll look better after some more detailing love
sounds great
Thanks man!
wow that is a clean car. Nice, not a lot left in this condition I believe. Love the OEM look...
Thanks man. That’s the goal. Keep it OEM+
This garage setup making me jealous lol. So much room
I have a Yonaka on our Del Sol with no cat, sounds awesome 💪💪💪
I had the DC Sports TCS exhaust on my 02 and it sounded amazing and smooth like a big sport bike. I changed to an Ex Mag GT2 and it was raspy. It’s a shame they don’t make the twin loop anymore. It had the best sound I have ever heard.
The RSR GT2 you mentioned was loud AF. I had the standard RSR "Ex Mag"(Exhaust Magic) on my '92 GSR w/B18C5 swap and Mugen Gymkhana spec exhaust manifold. RSR of Japan marketed it as the quietest performance exhaust on the market. It was very similar to the HKS "Sports" series exhaust that I had on a MKIII Supra turbo. Both were painted black by the manufacture to disappear under the car.
Such a clean RSX❤. I think I've seen you a couple days ago on Curtis and Fairview
I got the axle back for my '19 Elantra 6 speed along with a resonator delete. SO much louder and clearer!
DAANNNGGGGG THAT'S COMING OUT PRETTY GOOD LOOK GREAT CLEAN AND SOUND AMAZING @6:38 THAT WAS A GREAT TWO SECONDS SLIGHT STRUGGLE I SURE HAD THAT SAME EXPERIENCE WITH T.S.A. @12:38 I TOLD THEM "YOU DO THAT A SECOND TIME AROUND YOU GONNA OWE ME A DRINK AFTER I'M NOT THAT EAZY" WHAT A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A WELL CRAFT R.&.D WORK I FIRST DECIDED WITH A "DC SPORT" AFTER I SAW AND HEARD THE YONAKA ON THE RED CIVIC I FELT LIKE MAYBE NOT SURE ON WHAT I GOT AFTER ALL HAVEN'T INSTALLED IT YEAR BUT MAYBE LATER THIS YEAR THE (A)CURA R.S.X. IS COMING OUT BETTER BY THE MOD GREAT CONTENT THANKS JIMMY & ANTHONY ✌🏼OUT
Glad you liked it Noah! Thank you for always watching my vids and keeping it positive :)
Go for a rear sway bar next man, you will love how much more tight the car will feel. This exhaust sounds great! I've been eyeing this exhaust and now I'm going for it.
This is true. I did the Eibach. Helps with the understeer.
I loved the video part 7:20 that was fun 😂🤣💪🏼
