Oil filter cap torque to 18 lb.ft.
Oil filter cap drainplug torque to 9 lb.ft.

You forgot to mention to change the rubber oil ring and coat it before you install the filter.

Two questions- Why did you use a conventional oil filter instead of XP Wix that's a Synthetic filter. Also why didn't you drain the oil housing thru the center plug and replace the O-rings(they come with new filter)?

I change my oil every 5000 miles... so by the time I change the oil again, the filter will never see the 10k miles we are told to travel... (filter is less worn). I skip the center plug because in my experience, it's a waste of time, just skip that step and make your life easier and simpler when draining the oil, less steps, same result my friend. Oil change done...

@TheRealSkeptyk Milage has nothing to with filter type. Synthetic filters are designed to filter Synthetic oil and conventional filters for Mineral based oil, since the are made of paper and synthetic filters are like a teflon fiber. If you don't mind the mess it makes keep doing it your way. It just doesn't have to be that way.

You did not take the drain cap off from the bottom of oil filter housing, stick the plastic drain plug that comes with every new oil filter to let the oil in the filter housing drain first. When you do that, you will not have oil spilling everywhere when you take the filter housing off. Not sure if this is the best video for changing the oil in Toyota 3.5L engine!

Good video. Thought there was a torque spec for the oil pan bolt. Do you recommend putting any oil on the oil filter, is there a gasket on that filter?

No need to put oil on the filter, the oil filter comes with the O ring that acts as your seal when you tighten it down, dont over tighten, it should be no more that just a a tad past hand tight.

Should a new crush washer be purchased from the dealer or at any auto parts store?
