Yeah, they do. You know they can randomly end performing a version of Calamari Inkcantation that is styled in the way it was when first performed it as kids. That version sounds so mellow it's a different feeling unique, really. The best way I can describe it is that it's like the feeling of sitting down to relax after a crazy day of street and adrenaline. It fitting this big stage only performance and version only happens in the version of Grandfest hub that takes place while the results for the Grandfest winner are being decided. A nice calm version of the series most infamous song to calm you down from the long battle fought.
Even if we, team future, only get bronze, we are happy for both of you, hope splatoon will be a masterpiece. (btw we still fighted good too but you was in luck of the number, not a bad thing so)
As a Team Present member, I can say that I barely fought Past Teams, I mostly fought against Mirror Presents and Future guys, from 10 matches I could've fought against 1 or 2 past teams. But GG's for all, it was really unexpected but I'm so excited for what Team Past is gonna give us in next Splatoon game :)
That last minute part in-game is magical. As someone who's been playing since 1, hearing motifs from City of Color and the Squid Sisters doing their classic 'Hey' as if they were cheering me on... It makes me determined. As dumb as it sounds, I become less nervous, I start to lock in and I play way better. It makes me feel like I'M the protagonist of the franchise having the climatic 'flashback to the start of the journey' moment and NOTHING can stop me at that point. I swear i've never won so consistently in Tri-Color before, and it's in part thanks to this song giving me super powers.

Wait really? I’ve found that my matches are pretty even most of the time. Usually if you REALLY want the signal you can just brute force it with the ink rails on this map
Personally I think this has to be the most fair map out of all. It feels really good and actually allows to play strategically on both attack and defense. Kinda sad they didn't make maps like this one from the start.

As someone who’s been playing since the very first testfire of splatoon 1, the Squid Sisters will always be my favorite splat idols. It’s like nearly a decade of Splatoon has been leading up to this moment, and I absolutely love it.
As someone on Past, finally managing to get the last ultra signal and hearing "STAY FRESH!" while City of Color blares in the bg made me feel absolutely overpowered even if the only real gameplay change was fizzbangs being spammed across the battlefield

This version of the song has been the best sounding imo. It keeps the flow of the song all the way through unlike the other ones that feel either too slow or too fast. Ebb and Flow felt a lot weaker during this unlike in Octo Expansion. And I couldn’t really tell what song Deep Cut was singing. I think it was Smeared Canvas? I may be wrong cause again I couldn’t tell.

@@Fran_5 I don't see it, whenever I'm on attacking and the other team gets both signals I just focus on negating any of the defending team's ink. A win's a win and the clout difference between the "winning" attacker team and "2nd place" is marginal, and I don't see why I would want to sabotage the odds of attackers winning since you can absolutely come back from losing both signals as defender; I've seen it happen and made it happen myself.
I have a confession. When the grand fest was initially announced, I went and signed up for team present. Then my best friend mentioned that the final splatfest always determines a major part of the next game, and that if team past won, we would possibly finally get to see the great turf war, and that was why they chose team past. Realizing they were absolutely right, I did what I had to do. So, if anyone from team present faced team past and had a teammate named “spy of tf2”, who was wearing the inkling mask and had the team past banner, you might have noticed they’re peculiar play style (basically running at team past and dying without firing, and often jumping around hiding team present members to give away their position, and even going so far as to get locked on by tenta missiles, then charge their teammates to get them both killed), I just wanted to say… that was me. I’ve never thrown so hard in my life. I actually got it down to an exact science. So, sorry team present, but… I never really was on your side.
Man I got the feels when I got to hear Ebb & Flow at the final minute. Splat 2 was my introduction to this series and I hold it dear to my heart despite its flaws and everything 1 and 3 did better, still love Splat 2 and the Splatocalypse is still my most precious memory of the franchise. imo having Fly Octo Fly + Ebb & Flow for battle theme on day 3 is the most beutiful and precious battles have ever been With that said, why am I talking about splatoon 2 here? Because while I stand for what I said, MY GOD THIS CITY OF COLOUR + CALAMARI INKANTATION REMIX FOR PAST'S FINAL MINUTE IS THE MOST FIRE THING I'VE EVER HEARD. It's so good that the Squid Sisters get a win TOGETHER. I think they are the only idols that were split up due to a Splatfest, which was a popularity contest, (Callie vs. Marie), so it's nice to see them on the same team and win.

After listening to all versions of this. This one is by far still the best. (I will say yes I was on Team Past, but I did take the initiative to listen to the other teams themes before formulating this opinion) imo this one is the best of them all because it gives you (the player) the hype you need to fight harder. The sped up city of color theme, the squid sisters chanting like they’re rooting you on. As well as the quick hard drum beats and the Japanese like opening that sounds warrior like. Where as the Off the Hook version felt like a weaker Ebb and Flow, and you can’t really hear their voices as prodominantly as you can the Squid Sisters. Now as for Deep Cuts version. All three of their voices were going so fast it started drowning out the music and sounded less like a song and just started sounding like noise. It became too much too quickly, essentially devolving the theme entirely. It was just a jumbled mess at that point. Again this is all my opinion. Maybe others heard it differently. But this one with our team, the way the squid sisters built up the song, and kept the flow of feeling like they’re cheering you on, was definitely the better theme.
Hearing the squid sisters sing after taking the last signal made me focus better in the fight and it also lit up a fire within me when i hear them sing. I would usually team up with my brother in these battles. I will always admire the squid sisters.
You just try to listen to Vanilla Calamari Inkantation after this. Hell, even BEFORE THIS. Will it ever still sound as good as it used to, with all these remasters?
My favourite part out of any Inkantation is the section in the 3mix where Dj Octavio joins in and starts harmonising with them. After hearing that (and SHIVER oh my goodness her scream is amazing) I can't hear the original the same way.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to play during Grand Festival, but I heard all versions of Rainbow Inkantation. And as one who has been playing since Splatoon 1, Team Past's version made me emotional with the addition of City of Color (ironically, I would have chosen Team Future if my Switch wasn’t broken).
