I was kind of under the impression that Ebb and Flow was OTHs version of the Inkantation? It's the song that's most associated with OTH, it's used in the story as a way to inspire the player, and it's gotten a remix each time it's introduced

It's their signature song, just like how Calamari Inkantation is the Squid Sisters signature song. This is just the first time Off the Hook actually gets to be a part of Calamari Inkantation.
I love that they added a dynamic theme! Depending on who has the ultra signals, the supporting group from that team will perform in the middle of the map, just not that you'll see that during combat lmao

I've seen a lot of hate about how this sounds like they just stitched together a bunch of their songs.... but, isn't that the point? This is their debut song as the "Now Or Never Seven", it *should* feel like a mesh of all of their styles and songs I, for one, am in *love* with this song. Might even love it more than Calamari 3mix Also, the fact that the full song is basically right at 7 minutes is a fun detail
I don't hate the song but it's more of a disappointment, I specifically dislike the now or never section, as a song it sounds great! But as a now or never song it doesn't fit the bill. When I hear now or never I want my blood pressure to rise, realizing that there is only one minute left and the song building up to it. I'm not saying now or never has to always be the same tune, but it does have to have the same energy, it's the same reason I love Fly Octo Fly's now or never, it doesn't have the same tune but it keeps the same energy, the main part of the song even transitioned into the last minute pretty well. As a Splatoon Fan since splat 1 I have seen this game series expand and grow but when I heard that I was disappointed especially when I compared it to splat 2's Final Fest where the now or never had Marina sing in it after she hadn't in the original splatfest now or never because she was no longer afraid of people judging her

When I first heard this in tri-color, it unironically gave me such an adrenaline boost, I’ve won most of my tri-color matches in the final phase & I play much better in general. I mean, I took down a Hydra Splatling 4 or 5 times in a single match without getting splatted by it once. Before that match, I never even had a draw and Gen facing a Hydra. Music has truly an inkredible power, to hype us up so much, helping us do our best no matter and bringing us to new heights ⭐️

First seeing “Rainbow Calamari Inkantation” pop up as the match’s song title and then hearing Pearl spit MENTAL bars thrust my soul three astral planes above the mortal coil. The adaptability of the final minute’s melody in tandem with that struggle to maintain center stage is an unforgettable proof that Splatoon music is just built different.

fun fact: at deep cut's part, shiver does okinawan style kakegoe! at 5:12, when she says "ha sasa, ha iya iya sasa". okinawans are part of an indigenous group called ryukyuans (their languages/cultures are very different from mainland japan, unfortunately the gov doesn't recognize them as a minority yet). and, in general, shiver's whistling motif is common in okinawan music as well! also anna sato (shiver’s va) is an amami folk singer (amami islands are also part of the ryukyu islands) i recommend checking her other stuff out :D the lyrics are a very nice touch btw! Even if Team Future got 0 points (I was team future) I can say that the Deep Cut part is the best of the three (omg I love this 5:24 ), I will never forget the first time I heard it, my heart was pumping like that little ink tank animated section in the story mode trailer of the first splatoon (also a bit disappointed why didn't they make a Now or Never cover? I was so hyped for it)
About the Now or Never cover part, it makes sense they wouldn't do that Squid Sisters sing City of Color, their debut song, to represent their origins and Team Past. Off the Hook sing Ebb & Flow to represent the point they're at as well as the payoff to everything they've worked towards (it even has Spectrum Obligato mixed in near the start) and Team Present. Deep Cut seems to be singing a new song that hasn't been publicly released (likely the Ordertune exclusive new song of theirs) to represent what's coming ahead and Team Future
As a team present member, I absolutely loved Deep Cut in this! Especially their ending bit, it made me jam out even when we were losing to future in matches!

I have been with this series and its music since S1. This is absolutely the SICKEST music mix they’ve ever done. As a person who primarily dwells in the EDM/Techno genres I think i will forever be chasing the high of experiencing the climb at 0:50 in game and that beat drop of the SS + power yelling with Deep Cut. Literally the CRAZIEST bit of the song to me and it’s only just in the first minute. 😭😭 I have no idea what was in the dev team’s heads for this entire Splatfest but this was the most AMAZING send off. You can feel the love man. I can’t get enough. We’re so lucky to exist at the same time as splatoon to experience this. ❤

@@ypto82 I mean Team Past is in the lead rn in the grand festival by a good 2% over Team Present so it’s possible they may win it. But we still got over 12 hours from now from where I live. So anything can still happen. But I’ve seen a lot of players from Japan also be playing for Team Past, where Splatoon is more popular than here in the states.

But this time it’s honestly fitting. So many people PRAISE Team present because of Off the Hook. Not the real meaning behind the theme. Again I say like I did many times before. Without Splatoon 1, 2 and 3 would never have happened. The Wii U was a pretty lame system. And Splatoon was a brand new IP introduced on the Wii U. And because of how popular it was, it got a second shot at going golden on the Switch with Splatoon 2. It all started with Agent 3 and the Squid Sisters. And honestly I feel that’s how this trilogy should end.

Saving the world from Order & the NILS Statue piloted by Tartar when Off the Hook plays Ebb & Flow... And Deep Cut cheering you on while you & Small Fry fight Mr. Grizz in Space while performing the. Calamari Inkantation 3MIX... Truly Transcendant.
At the start of a Tricolor Battle, I dominated and got 2 ultra signals under 25 seconds, and only to hear Ebb and Flow at the end hyped me up to the core. Go Team Present.

After 2 and a half months, this is undoubtedly the best version of Rainbow Color Inkantation. The transitions are very clean and fit perfectly between each cut according to the group. All that's left is to wait for the official version, which premieres tomorrow. Congratulations on reaching one million views!
This has to be one of the best splatoon soundtracks ever! It shows that there wasn't just a battle on the field. It was a battle of the Idols as well. Every group was giving it their all and pushed their separate team with everything they had.
Was it just me or were these tri-color matches in the second half just pure and utter chaos? I know everyone always goes all-out during Splatfests in general, but these battles especially it seemed everyone was just at their upmost game. Not to mention this song just absolutely invigorated me and really made me want to do my best and take no prisoners 😅 I was going all out with my inkbrush and even got 20 kills in one much lol.
For real. We were fighting for our lives! The music 100% helped, though fighting against the overwhelming odds as Attackers was also a part of it. Felt so smart when we were able to clutch the signal early, or just straight up ignoring it entirely and focus on keeping defender base inked.
1:24 My personal headcanon for this part is that even though this is where all the groups are supposed to be fighting, the Squid Sisters and Deep Cut recognize that Marina is absolutely slaying, and just let her do her thing here. The Squid Sisters try to intrude in the song, but stop very quickly, sticking to one bit of background vocals for the rest of this part, and Deep Cut doesn't even intrude at all
Correction, that last paragraph isn't correct: Deep Cut intrudes at 1:29, but then very quickly stops and doesn't sing again in this section. And the Squid Sisters only provides one section of background vocals to support them (at 1:38). From then on, they just let Off The Hook do their thing

When I first heard this in tri-color, it unironically gave me such an adrenaline boost, I’ve won most of my tri-color matches in the final phase & I play much better in general.
I mean, I took down a Hydra Splatling 4 or 5 times in a single match without getting splatted by it once.
Before that match, I never even had a draw and Gen facing a Hydra.

1:24 My personal headcanon for this part is that even though this is where all the groups are supposed to be fighting, the Squid Sisters and Deep Cut recognize that Marina is absolutely slaying, and just let her do her thing here.
The Squid Sisters try to intrude in the song, but stop very quickly, sticking to one bit of background vocals for the rest of this part, and Deep Cut doesn't even intrude at all
Correction, that last paragraph isn't correct:
Deep Cut intrudes at 1:29, but then very quickly stops and doesn't sing again in this section. And the Squid Sisters only provides one section of background vocals to support them (at 1:38). From then on, they just let Off The Hook do their thing
i love how they combined all the songs for a grand remix! i've also noticed that they use specific songs for each team's theme:
- past having the Squid Sister's debut song
- present having Off the hook's most popular song
- future having a song that hasn't released yet
i wasn't in the Grand Festival, but i can tell that this song would get your blood pumped up.
