love the squid sisters singing bittersweetly because they represent the nostalgic past, off the hook singing passionately as they always do because they represent living in the moment, and deep cut singing confidently because they represent the possibilities of the future
Still remember wii u commercials for splatoon back in 2016, when the game was less than a year, i refuse to believe it's been 9 years, almost 10 years, even sadder since the servers are officially shutted down since April(despite not owning a wii u) I never expected splatoon to be a big part of me tbh
It’s so cool that in some parts, Marina is singing in an octoling dialect and you can see with some words it’s a slight difference and in others it’s completely different. Love that detail. She held on to her sense of self and still values where she came from. That “Ringadeenga” near the end gets me every time

Same. I was going through my second year of middle school when I found Splatoon 2. It made me happier than I had been since I was 5. It taught me a lot. Even though I joined after the Splat 2 final fest and everything was kinda dead, I still loved it with all of my heart.
Fr 😭😭 this game is the literal reason why I met my boyfriend- its also brought me comfort when things were tough... I'm gonna miss this game so much AUHRHHH
This is so awesome! Even the lyrics talk about each group's team: The *Squid Sisters* are talking about honoring and looking back on the past; *Off the Hook* is talking about enjoying the present and living in the moment; And *Deep Cut* is talking about making the future a better place no matter what happens. Man I love Splatoon
And think about the placement of certain parts! Everyone starts like we anticipate the big finish just as we dream of what tomorrow brings And the squid sisters do most of the closing as we look back towards the past!
Also gotta point out how the Squid Sisters seem to embrace what the humans gave to their kind, Off the hook making a very obvious reference to Octo expansion and how Marina escaped from the depths to meet Pearl, and how Deep cut mentions how brave and fierce you have to be to embrace the future!
I happened to plan my Japan trip just in time to see the Grand Fest promos in the Nintendo stores there, this really is something special. This franchise has won my heart in a way nothing else ever has.
To all the Veterans of the Franchise, down the newest of new picking up that Splattershot Jr. and inking the floor with paint for the first time. It has been quite the roller coaster ride and its been an honor be apart of the Splatoon series, through its highs and low. Can't wait to see where the game heads to next. Lets make the Final Splatfest a night to remember, for old times sake, yeah?
i used to play splat 1 when i was a kid, and now just listening to this almost makes me cry, i hope the splatoon franchise can live on for many more years. but i am CLEARLY not ready for that, when that happens i'll probably cry my eyes out.
Jumped into the series with Splatoon 3 and taking part in several Splatfests and Big Runs has genuinely been one of the best experiences. It’s been an honor to partake in such an experience, let’s make the Grand festival a memorable experience for everyone
I remember first picking up an ink gun and shooting my first ink in splatoon 2 I liked it and have carried on inking the floor ever since let’s make this night special shall we
I have been here since day one, and have been using my Splattershot Jr since. I've seen a lot of this community grow an insane amount since the beginning and honestly I can't begin to describe how grateful I am for these game and the community that came from it. So like we did for Callie vs Marie and Chaos vs Order let's make this Splatfest something amazing.
I remember being on team cat and I kept dying cause I couldn’t understand how the map worked 😅 good times! Later on, I decided to try the Octobrush for fun since I was on team art and have been using the weapon ever since.. I love this franchise 🥹 Planning on playing all weekend too :)
@@LucyPalkoI think Daybreaker Anthem is too weak after hearing Three Wishes. It'd be really sweet if they had a video thanking players for being apart of this series for the past 9 years, and showed gameplay of all 3 games.
"No start, no end, it lasts for all eternity." That line hits hard for some reason, both melancholic, hopeful, and nostalgic. This is probably one of Nintendo's most influential newer IPs in a long time. I wish others like ARMS could get this kind of love too.
You know... it honestly amazes me how what started out as a tech demo about blocks of tofu shooting globs of stuff out their noses turned into one of the best IPs Nintendo's ever had. The fact it managed to survive debuting on the Wii U and became such a marvelous franchise is incredible, to say the least.
It’s even more unbelievable when you remember this is Nintendo we’re talking about-we know how loath they are to create new IPs But these silly little cephalopod goobers captivated us all, and how could they not?
See you guys when the festival starts, whether we look to the future, stay in the present, or flash back to the past, we’ll face it together! Cause this is Splatoon!!
2015, the year we asked ourselves: Are you a kid or are you a squid? Look how far this series has come. I was on my final year in High School when the first game came out. Thank you Splatoon!!
You’re not a kid (edit: Or maybe you are! I know it was a joke i think but some kids actually COULD be reading this and I didnt wanna leave them out-thanks random commenter for reminding me!), or a squid. You’re you. And that’s all you’ll ever need to be.
I relate too, 😭 bc I’ve experienced all three games as well across each release and now I’m seventeen years old so to me it’s like I grew up with the characters and their world so this grand festival has me emotional over these digital characters so bad now. I think we all grew up with splatoon and I love that as the game world grew and changed, we’ve all - the community have changed too. It’s really nice. That feeling, it’s warm and sweet and it’s incredible how much impact they have.
Don’t let nostalgia blind the true decisions needed I thought it was just an idol fest. It’s all about the decisions. It’s not Kentley versus Marie. It’s cat versus dog. I think that was the first one. I vaguely remember the first game because I was pretty young.
Imagine the devs designing the squid sisters for the first time just thinking it would be a one time add on for a multiplayer game on a decadent console. 9 years later and they're currently preparing the biggest virtual event in nintendo's history.
callie & marie: In the vast (in the past) marina and pearl: Eternal sea (eternity in the present) Deep cut: The flow of time (towards the future) So beautiful...
@@maulanahanif6761 I just hope that if the console is like a switch 2 it won't end as a failure, back in 2000s the wii sold well so nintendo made the wii u aka an upgraded version of the wii, but it ended as a failure instead, do i hope that it won't happen if the switch 2 will be the next console (Sounds stupid and it might just be me but I still wanted to say that)
The Squid Sisters singing alone at the end feels even more poetic now that they've won. It's been a genuine honor playing this game with you all, and I'm proud of everyone on Team Past who helped us earn this victory.
This song made me realize that the past, present and future really are all intertwined. Whereas chaos and order are clashing ideologies, here we really strive for the same goal at the end of the day. Even those attached to the past don't want to stop making history. It's a really fantastic final fest theme.
Having the Squid Sisters, the first idols of Splatoon, sing the last lines together alone is such an amazing detail. Ending the song where it all began- perfection.
i was 8 yrs old screaming at the tv about how much i hated splatlings in 2015, now im 17 in 2024 witnessing the end of splatoon 3, this is the moment i dreamed about when i was a kid. (im also a heavy main now LMFAO)
As a Bamboozler player back in the first game, nine year old me absolutely hated splatlings and would hunt them down. (The hatred never went away I’m coming for you) (what do you mean I mained Hydra for a while in Splatoon 2, that’s just a rumor) But now, Splatoon 3 is ending and whew, I couldn’t be more emotional about it. It feels like an end to an era, which it is, but somehow, it’s so much more than that.
Part of me wishes that Splatoon as a series did really well in the West as it did in Japan. Still, I'm super glad I discovered this IP back in 2015, and is the reason why I started a lot of things. Thank you Nintendo for once again changing my life.
Splatoon does do really well in the west, but Nintendo has always done a lot of special stuff for Japan. It's a lot easier to do with a smaller, more concentrated population.
@@FanaticalightThe biggest issue is that the West is just too physically large compared to Japan Me and my teammates attended Riptide (a big LAN) and having to travel from New York to Ohio was a relatively *easy* journey by comparison to what some of them had to go through

Wow it’s truly the end of an era. It’s bittersweet. Splatoon 3 has had ups and downs and now it’s coming to an end. This entire era of Splatoon is ending. This song is so good.
marina and pearls section being about how they love the present because its where they can experience their love for each other and their lives.... weeping crying screaming sobbing etc. love wins so hard man
I LOVE how they incorporated the theme so much into this song, in each of their respective versus they talk about their theme, squid sisters talk about their journeys they had, off the hook talked about how you should live in the present and do what you feel and deep cut talks about what the future has instore and what it could be.
@@iLoveGojo14 FinalFest but this time is named: Grand Festival & the topic is: which is most important to you? Past (Squid Sisters) Present (Off the Hook) Future (Deep Cut) from 12 Sept to 15 sept
“The path we walked will blaze forever. Having you by my side makes today perfect. Long as we can keep our hope alive, we’ll unite to find our dream someday.” This song perfectly summarizes Splatoon 1-3 As a player who has played all Splatoon games, I just… I love Splatoon and thank you Nintendo😭😭😭
I remember the months speculating the release of this game, the test fire, the release, all the ups and downs of splat 3. Can't believe we're wrapping up 😭
I know!!! I remember during the test fire just walking all around the plaza, exploring every nook and cranny. Now it’s almost been two years, with the grand festival…
Might seem silly, but this video genuinely made me cry as someone who has been HEAVILY into Splatoon since the very first game. Seeing all my favorites singing in their unique ways, getting their own times to shine, and then seeing them all together at the end just brought be a massive wave of joy and nostalgia - I'm so proud to have been a part of this community thus far and this game has brought me so much joy over the passing years. I know for a fact that I'll never forget these games. Thank you, Splatoon!
This was a beautiful splatfest. The themes weren’t necessarily opposing as they are all intertwined. Whatever the results are, I’m happy to have been here to experience it. Here’s to the past, present, and future of Splatoon. It was a wonderful experience
You’re a kid now! You’re a squid now! You’re a kid you’re a squid you’re a kid you’re a squid you’re- An adult now. It’s been 9 years since the beginning of the series. It really is hard to believe how far we’ve come.
It seems like it’s the end of an era for splatoon. We can cherish the memories we’ve had in the past, seize the present with this grand splatfest, and look to the future for where this series will spread its roots
I cannot BEGIN to describe how beautiful this song is. As a Splatoon 1 veteran, this series has been with me for a large portion of my life and is easily my main interest, the lore, the music, the characters… it all brings me so much comfort and joy. And to see a song like this, the sendoff of the beauty that is Splatoon… I’ve cried so many times to this song. The lyrics are incredible. The theme is amazing. The music department clearly put so much thought into this song. Squid Sisters: They represent familial love, and reflect on their past experiences and how they made them who they are today, while simultaneously honoring the humans and their loss and fulfilling the dreams that the last humans had before their deaths Off the Hook: They represent romantic love, speaking of how they enjoy spending time with each other in the present, and how they’ve shaped each other into better people and kept each other grounded Deep Cut: They represent platonic love, a group of childhood buddies who will be together till their deaths (“the land beyond the sands” and “the journey’s end”) who have massive amounts of potential Not to mention the amazing instrumentation. I’m a music nerd, but I won’t get too into detail other than mentioning how much I love the chord progressions and blends of the styles of the different groups (J-Pop for Squid Sisters, EDM for Off the Hook, World music for Deep Cut-Specifically traditional Japanese, traditional Indian, and Brazilian bossa nova). The detail of Marina singing in Octarian, showing her ears, and otherwise embracing her identity as an Octarian now that she’s free to is also a really nice touch in my eyes. Also cool hearing Pearl and her singing in lower registers, they absolutely killed it Okay, done yapping now
Man, something about the Squid Sisters' lyrics here, especially that "nothing at the start, in the void of night," really made me stop and think about how far the series has come. It was a risk for Nintendo to release such a quirky new IP on a failing console back in the days of the Wii U, and yet here we all are. I love that Callie and Marie started it off with such a bang ❤
This song is the pure symbolism of "the end of an era"... The 3 idols of each games, singing their own parts and singing together, showing the beauty of every memories made in each of those games... It's just beautiful and heartwarming... Can't believe it'll already be over ! Playing the testfire and splatfests of splatoon 2 (my first game) feels like yesterday... Such great memories, the shifty stations were a blast... But then for splatoon 3, even tho there wasn't something as unique as shifty stations, the tricolor battles an 3 teams were just so great ! I think what brings all games together, is the fact that we've always all been playing together since the very beginning, we all grew through this franchise's evolution. We now get to celebrate not only the end of splatoon 3, but celebrate our love for the 3 games that changed our lives... :)
as somebody who’s played since the first Splatoon, this got me a bit emotional inside. It’s like an appreciation to all of the fans for how far the franchise has come, ugh i’m not ready for the finale (unless Nintendo confirms there’s more like reruns and all of that).
There's been a splatoween and frosty fest found in the data files. Plus Splatoon's 10th anniversary is literally next year, so I honestly doubt this is the "final fest" but it will probably the one that affects Splatoon 4
The lyrics made me speechless for a bit. Splatoon as a series has made me meet people I would've never met otherwise, and these connections literally saved my life during my darkest days during Splatoon 2, my introduction to the series. I note Splatoon as the reason I'm still alive and now in fact thriving. While Splatoon nowadays is not as impactful to me as 2 was, the series will always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm looking forward to what the future holds, both for myself and this series.
I love how each group's style gets its moment to shine :') Hearing everyone sing together is so special! And while the splatfests will be over, there are still so many memories to be made in Splat 3! 💜💚💗💚💛💙🤍
"I've been searching, all of my life, finally I've found my north star. My heart's synched up, a satellite, orbiting wherever you are." "My brightly burning radiance drew you to me." "Having you by my side makes today perfect." I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE
Yup, two best friends and nothing more :D Guys... just stop with the pearlina crap. They're obviously just two besties, not everything has to be gay. I say these things about my best friend irl and we are both straight and have gfs. You're allowed to express care and love to your friends, yall have just been blinded by modern society to the point in which you see these things and immediately call it gay without hesitation. Just stop, yall read too much into this peralina garbage and it's both annoying and disgusting to see how many people just overreact to the smallest thing that involves pearl and marina
To everyone on the team behind Splatoon: Thank you so much. Even though there have been missed opportunities and issues people have complained about, I still feel like this game has a soul at its core that just feels so colorful and alive and free that it'll always draw me to the series. All I ask is that, whatever comes next for Splatoon, you never lose that.
I feel like this song is thanking us, for everything we have experienced with this franchise. Lines like "When I get there together with my dearest friends" and "The path we walked on will blaze forever" just shows us how long we have been with this series. Through the good, and the bad.
Five years ago, I was fighting in the final fest of splatoon 2. The big splatocalypse, chaos vs order, all the tiny little details I treasured the heck out of. And now, here I am, about to enter senior year of high school, and join the Grand festival, to fight for the future. -(I SWEAR THAT WAS NOT A PUN)-
5:21 “Here we stand in time - endless past, present, and future span, Our wishes are the flame that light up history. All life here is one - intermingled in the hourglass, No start, No end, it lasts for all eternity.” That’s some pretty powerful lyrics I’ve ever seen and heard in a Nintendo game since smash bros ultimate’s lifelight theme. qwq
I'm so glad team past won. If you didn't start with splatoon 1, you might not get it, but Callie and Marie are very special to me. I still remember the very first splatfest and seeing them perform in the game for the first time. It's crazy to think of how much of a stable franchise splatoon has become for nintendo from its humble beginnings on a failing console.
Honestly after giving it some thought, it makes perfect sense that team Past swept, because those are the people that Splatoon has been with for the longest. Nine years is a *long* time, and no doubt that this silly little squid game has helped people get through hard patches of their lives (I know it did for me)
5:10 crying and throwing up I watched them perform for an hour straight ik it’s not the end of splatoon as a whole but dang Man the feels are killing me
This is the best farewell song I heard yet and probably forever. Who would know that a franchise that started in a failure console would be so cherished and one of the main IP’s of Nintendo to this day? Even if it’s fictional, it’s a dream come true to be able to see this saga growing alongside with wholesome characters and awesome moments. Thanks for everything, Splatoon. You gave us so many great memories that will keep going until the end of time. And thank you all the people in the community and from Nintendo that made this franchise possible. I hope the work, spirit and dedication they put into these games lasts for all eternity.
Splatoon is the only game where ome day you'll see people being all friendly and cool with eachother, another day everyone is fighting like their lives depend on it and on the third day they're back to being chill
Honestly I think the absurdity of the premise is a powerful built-in anti-tilt mechanism, whether intentional or not Sure, anyone can get really mad in the heat of battle because you got 360 no-scoped by a Trizooka from across the map, but at the end of the day it’s a silly little game about cephalopod kids shooting water guns at each other and smashing each other upside the head with paint rollers It’s nearly impossible to stay upset when you just step back and look at what a stupid, beautiful game it is, full of world-destroying pudding piles and capitalist bears and evil kitten clones and squids
@@GreatFernicus that's what makes this game awesome. it's like a game of connect the dots with a bunch of random things that end up somehow making sense. it's so absurd it's cool

I first played Splatoon 2 back when I got my Nintendo Switch in 2017. I can't believe that was 7 years ago. Time flies by. I'll still never forget Splatoon.
It is amazing how far Splatoon has come throughout the years. It started as a funny family friendly shooter game on the Wii U and now it is one of Nintendo's most popular IP. 3 games, DLCs, incredibly deep lore, concerts, merchs, smash rep, and music videos. I cherish this licence deep in my heart, thank you Nintendo.
I don’t really know how to start this out, but I do want to say one thing. Thank you As someone who has been around since the beginning, I can’t begin to describe how special these games are to me. I’ve met so many friends and built so many connections with these games, and I cherish every single one of them. This game hasn’t just brought us all fun, but it has brought all of us together in a way very few can achieve. And if that isn’t a special achievement, then I don’t know what is. Once again, thank you all for these wonderful memories, all these friendships, and most of all, all the joy you all have given me. And a massive thanks to Nintendo, for bringing us all together. No matter if your on team Past, Present, or Future, Let’s all make this a Splatfest to remember!🎉🎉🎉
This right here is that attitude I have and love about the Grand Festival. There's a very big sense of unity surrounding this festival unlike what I've seen of the other Splatfests. I don't care what team wins or who is on what team, I'm happy to be able to have fun and play games with other people who love something I love. None of the three teams can exist without the other two and that's part of what makes this such a brilliant theme for the Grand Fest.

Same. I was going through my second year of middle school when I found Splatoon 2. It made me happier than I had been since I was 5. It taught me a lot. Even though I joined after the Splat 2 final fest and everything was kinda dead, I still loved it with all of my heart.
Me too I was changed by this series, and now future generations will look back and see what was once and will always be a great franchise

This is so awesome!
Even the lyrics talk about each group's team:
The *Squid Sisters* are talking about honoring and looking back on the past;
*Off the Hook* is talking about enjoying the present and living in the moment;
And *Deep Cut* is talking about making the future a better place no matter what happens.
Man I love Splatoon
And think about the placement of certain parts!
Everyone starts like we anticipate the big finish just as we dream of what tomorrow brings
And the squid sisters do most of the closing as we look back towards the past!
Also gotta point out how the Squid Sisters seem to embrace what the humans gave to their kind, Off the hook making a very obvious reference to Octo expansion and how Marina escaped from the depths to meet Pearl, and how Deep cut mentions how brave and fierce you have to be to embrace the future!
squid sisters: carrying since forever
off the hook: serenating each other
deep cut: ONE PIECE

I love this franchise 🥹
Planning on playing all weekend too :)
I wonder if the "Thanks For Playing" video is gonna show every single splatfest from Splatoon 1, 2, and 3, with this song playing.
That would be the best option to do for us. Nintendo did it for each game, so I hope it happens 😊
It might be this song or Daybreaker Anthem
@@LucyPalko Whichever song Nintendo chooses, it’ll still be nice to hear

"No start, no end, it lasts for all eternity." That line hits hard for some reason, both melancholic, hopeful, and nostalgic. This is probably one of Nintendo's most influential newer IPs in a long time. I wish others like ARMS could get this kind of love too.
I love how each band’s aesthetic stayed with their solos, especially how Off the Hook kept the EDM vibe

You know... it honestly amazes me how what started out as a tech demo about blocks of tofu shooting globs of stuff out their noses turned into one of the best IPs Nintendo's ever had. The fact it managed to survive debuting on the Wii U and became such a marvelous franchise is incredible, to say the least.
I know. It's just really crazy to think about... But, I'm really glad it did, I don't think things would be the same if it wasn't here.

Don’t let nostalgia blind the true decisions needed I thought it was just an idol fest. It’s all about the decisions. It’s not Kentley versus Marie. It’s cat versus dog. I think that was the first one. I vaguely remember the first game because I was pretty young.
So real, I just wish Nintendo Land was just as lucky 😭

But now, Splatoon 3 is ending and whew, I couldn’t be more emotional about it. It feels like an end to an era, which it is, but somehow, it’s so much more than that.

Squid Sisters:
They represent familial love, and reflect on their past experiences and how they made them who they are today, while simultaneously honoring the humans and their loss and fulfilling the dreams that the last humans had before their deaths
Off the Hook:
They represent romantic love, speaking of how they enjoy spending time with each other in the present, and how they’ve shaped each other into better people and kept each other grounded
Deep Cut:
They represent platonic love, a group of childhood buddies who will be together till their deaths (“the land beyond the sands” and “the journey’s end”) who have massive amounts of potential
Not to mention the amazing instrumentation. Also cool hearing Pearl and her singing in lower registers, they absolutely killed it
Okay, done yapping now
Man, something about the Squid Sisters' lyrics here, especially that "nothing at the start, in the void of night," really made me stop and think about how far the series has come.

Splatoon is the only game where ome day you'll see people being all friendly and cool with eachother, another day everyone is fighting like their lives depend on it and on the third day they're back to being chill
Honestly I think the absurdity of the premise is a powerful built-in anti-tilt mechanism, whether intentional or not
Sure, anyone can get really mad in the heat of battle because you got 360 no-scoped by a Trizooka from across the map, but at the end of the day it’s a silly little game about cephalopod kids shooting water guns at each other and smashing each other upside the head with paint rollers
It’s nearly impossible to stay upset when you just step back and look at what a stupid, beautiful game it is, full of world-destroying pudding piles and capitalist bears and evil kitten clones and squids
@@GreatFernicus that's what makes this game awesome. it's like a game of connect the dots with a bunch of random things that end up somehow making sense. it's so absurd it's cool
I'll return to this video after Grand Festival
Same
how was it?
@@Tozito911 I cried like a baby
@@nady2130 i almost cried too, but because i didn’t get to play it.
@@Tozito911 damn. Well if you have any of the idol Amiibos, you can visit replays of the concerts. If you don't, people sell NFC coins if any Amiibos on Etsy for cheap
Thank you splatoon 3 for everything, thank you deep cut, off the hook and squid sisters
You spelled Sisters wrong 😂
Ooooops@@midnightgamer4ever
I loved when agent 3 said “it’s splatooning time” and splatooned all over the place
I preferred it when Agent 4 said "It's irrelevanting time." and irrelevanted all over the place.
I gasped so loud when Agent 8 said "It's cash cowing time" and proceeded to cash cow all over the place. Peak gaming.
@@elizabethramirezthezenshii9691 Didn't know Eight had business tie-ins.
But when new agent 3 said "its salmon time" and salmoned all over the place is when I truly lost it
@@wolfydawolf5680Tbh when Now or Never Seven said ‘It’s Three Wishes’ing time' and then Three Wishes’ed all over the Crater was better.
This is such a beautiful "credits/closing" song. I can't wait to see it in concert in a few weeks! Thank you for everything Now or Never Seven!
No matter what team you’re on, let’s make this the greatest splatfest, together.
I don’t really know how to start this out, but I do want to say one thing.
Thank you
As someone who has been around since the beginning, I can’t begin to describe how special these games are to me.
