I swear Grandfest was the closest I ever got to genuine time travel. I was playing on Flounder Heights and low and behold Ink Me Up starts playing. I logically know this map is not the same as it used to be. Hell, I'm playing with a Dread Wringer as an Octoling in the year of our lord 2024!
But man, my WiiU broke years ago in like 2016?? So ever sense then I only have my memories of Splat 1 to go by. Now I can't even go back without hacking...
Needless to say, I had to pause for a long time after that game to emotionally process something way more poniente then just nostalgia. Goddamn Grandfest was something else.
Past/Future colours with Ink Me Up playing on S1 maps... straight up sent me into a Callie vs. Marie flashback.

How the hell does splatoon music make me so hopeful for the future. Like i hear it and think everything is gonna be ok. It just inspires me to create and makes me want to help others. But it's just silly cephalopods singing in a language i don't understand.
