Spectrum Obligato was a remix of Ebb & Flow, which was the song they used (though I will admit that Spectrum Obligato was easily the best Ebb & Flow remix in my opinion).
I love Ebb and Flow so much. When the final motif kicks in, it feels like you’re fighting for something you love, and you’re winning. It feels like you’re finally breaking out of your shell in all your glory. It feels like you’ve found friends after years of loneliness , and they have your back. It feels like you’ve been given the strength to smash your adversaries and fears and melancholy down to the depths of hell and beyond with the blinding power of sheer ecstasy, hope and radiance. I almost cried when I heard this remix in game. Splatoon’s been with me when I finally managed to do all of those things, and Im happier than I’ve ever been. This funny little squid game and the silly gremlins in it came along at the sweetest point in my life so far. I’m finally living in the moment. Team Present, we may not have won and I may have lost a 100x battle to Past, but we fought tooth and nail the whole fest and you were the best teammates anyone could have hoped for. Thank you for, however insignificant it was, letting me fight for what I believed in.

I think Ebb and Flow is the most emotional song in the series. It really represents how Marina turned her distant dreams into reality. It accompanied us during some of the highest points in the series. It’s a song of freedom and letting loose and it gets me every time. I love how that brief reference to the spectrum obligato version at the top. I will never stop loving this motif, it means so much more to me than any other song in the series.

Shiver is an Octoling (and there are other Octolings in her clan too), and she went to school with Frye before the events of Octo Expansion happened, so it's possible the Great Turf War was more of a localized event or that there were nearby nations that some Octarians ran to. Maybe they could have the story mode tie into the Great Turf War, but not explicitly on the side of the Inklings. Or two story modes? Could be a "this is how i got here" flashback type thing, explaining why your character left their country.

C'mon, you gotta see the Great Tricolor Turf War! Or, The Great Salmon Run and The Great Salmon Run Next Wave and The... Big Big BIG Run (yes I am just naming the modes). The Great Turf War imo wouldn't work since they're probably gonna keep playable Octos and how would that even work. It'd be a great rougelite but yeah the fact that Octolings are playable makes it hard to do a GTW campaign.

But I respect the hell out of it, off the hook does give the "my way or the highway" vibe anyways so... keep that up. IDK what Splatoon 4 will bring but you all better keep that spirit because giving my best each match is fun as shell win or lose. I can't believe Splatoon became this much of a hit considering how it started as a Wii U exclusive, seeing the end of 3 makes me feel kinda old, but I don't think I'll forget these last 3 days. May the best team win this Grand Festival.

I worry about the future a lot, but I honestly picked Present because I just like Off The Hook. Hearing this made me realize I picked it right (side note: The other idol groups are good too, Splat2 just has a special attachment to me & my friend group so, by coralation, so does Off the Hook)
the insane level of effort put into this splatfest really makes this my favourite splatoon experience in 6 years of playing it!! as the grand festival is drawing to a close, I have to say that even if I hope this won't be the final splatfest, it would be a more than worthy note to end on. I heard a lot of people complaining that this didn't fit as a Now or Never sequence because it doesn't feel as climatic as the actual piece, but for me it's quite the opposite; hearing all of Off the Hook's greatest hits gave me a feeling of nostalgia that was strong enough to surpass the dopamine rush that Now or Never usually gives me during splatfests by a landslide! They only have one fully dedicated segment, but this is my favorite Off the Hook song ever.
This played while I, of Team Present, got a x333 against Team Future in the last day of the Grand Fest. It was both very motivating and stressful. We won by 1%!

Though I did finally get into the Splatoon franchise late as of April of 2022, the brief time I got to experience Splatfest in PBs + Octo Expansion as a whole was one of the greatest feelings I've ever had in gaming. If I could re-experience OE for the first time again, I would. Love these 2 lesbians to death.

I have a confession. When the grand fest was initially announced, I went and signed up for team present. Then my best friend mentioned that the final splatfest always determines a major part of the next game, and that if team past won, we would possibly finally get to see the great turf war, and that was why they chose team past. Realizing they were absolutely right, I did what I had to do. So, if anyone from team present faced team past and had a teammate named “spy of tf2”, who was wearing the inkling mask and had the team past banner, you might have noticed they’re peculiar play style (basically running at team past and dying without firing, and often jumping around hiding team present members to give away their position, and even going so far as to get locked on by tenta missiles, then charge their teammates to get them both killed), I just wanted to say… that was me. I’ve never thrown so hard in my life. I actually got it down to an exact science. So, sorry team present, but… I never really was on your side.
