I just picked up an S5 and love it! great video, the colors that come out of this thing are amazing, vlog is so great to work with. My first video using it will be up soon :) keep up the great work.
Got my S5 for a month and I'm absolutely in love. Learning videography as we speak. Photos are amazing and the High Resolution Mode is a game changer. The 96MP RAW is absolutely insane.
I have also this camera since over a year now. And it made me very happy, and made me a lot of money to buy an s1h recently :) it's an amazing camera and I am very grateful to have it
@@OliverKingsleyMedia the sensor is far better for some things. It has a low pass filter, which is very useful for model and fashion photography. Very useful
Great video man, it's been little over a year since I got my S5 as well and I love it! Just taking my time to acquire some L-mount lenses as I go along
I just bought mine. I was working with a Sony A6400 and i am expecting a huge upgrade. I am only worried about how to deal with the focus on photo because on video i am used to make manual focus - i work with a blackmagic too. So lets see!
The S5 has been awesome for me. It's leveled up my videography skills and overall work flow. It's gotten me a ton of opportunties and it's been paying for itself. Been using it over a year now ands still going strong. Love the custom buttons switching super easy. Im currently looking at the sigma 28-70 f2.8 or a 24-105 f4. What would you recommend?
Honestly I think that 24-105 is the way to go. I constantly find myself using between 70-105mm and really like the look of it. Also, having that extra reach really comes in handy for run and gun videography work
I bet the 24-105 is a great lens! I can only speak about my experience with the 28-70 2.8 Sigma on my S5 and it has been amazing even for lower light scenarios. Just beautiful imagery out of it
Man fucking love this channel and how you talk..... Shit I gonna fucking subscribe to this channel and load a shit ton of comments in the future 😍👍 finally a normal talking person fuck
Yes you can, although it can sometimes stutter a bit when you start moving, especially when it has been looking at a locked off image. It feels like a little bit of a delay before it starts moving. However, when editing, it's barely noticeable. Once you are moving it works great.
If you just need autofocus, go with the fx30. If you are happy to learn manual focusing, there are way more benefits if you get the S5. S5 has better stabilisation, Full Frame, Shutter angle & more features that you would find on a traditional cinema camera.
I was on the same page until I searched about the image Quality of S5, you can't just compare them. Also I got it new for 1499 and panasonic 85mm 1.8 for free. Also, I dont really care about autofocus!
Enjoyed the review Oliver, I'm looking hard at this camera and wanted to ask your personal advice. Right now, I think I can get the s5 with the 20-60, 85 1.8 and an atamos ninja v (plus accessories) for the same price as the s5 and the 24-105 used (or o can go without the ninja and save $400). I originally thought I want the one lens, the 24-105 because it just seems minimalistic and easy when running out with the family to shoot vacation photos or video a hike with friends. However, the other deal seems really sweet in that you get a buttload of stuff and your 20-60 shares a filter size with the 85 1.8 plus the prime is supposed to be crazy sharp. If you had to pick an option, which would you go for for a semi-pro hybrid shooter?
Depends on what subjects you shoot. A versatile zoom and fast prime sets you up for most situations. If you often shoot in situations where you need a lot of reach, the 24-105 is better. I use a Canon EF mount 24-105 and either the Sigma 18-35 or Panasonic 50mm f1.8 depending on the situation, and this suits any client work like businesses, shops, cafes etc. The 50mm is a wonderful walkaround lens for fun and portrait work.

@@karikaru When I got my S5, there was a deal for the 20-60 and a bonus 50mm, all for about 25% off retail, it was an awesome deal. I bought the Sigma EF-L adapter so I could use my EF mount lenses on it, too. The S5 is a fantastic camera, with beautiful image quality, superb video and many pro features. Autofocus isn't great with adapted lenses, but native lenses are fine. You can find secondhand Panasonic 24-105 lenses fairly easily to save money, and who would say no to a bonus 85?
Not gonna lie, compared to the sony and canon cameras, the autofocus is pretty terrible. That being said, I do use it a fair amount. For things like talking heads, and simple shots, it works fine!

I have Panasonic s5 for a year now.. My big problem is i need to shoot jpeg streat out of the camera..for people portrait. But i cant get the right settings for the best picture profile ,white balance and skin tone.. I but the camera because of you gays.. Blease give me the best settings for my camera. Thangs alot for every thing ^_^,,
I really like the portrait picture profile. I would say to make sure you are shooting in Manual mode so you have the most amount of control. Avoid boosting the ISO unless you have to, otherwise that will make your image more noisy. Most of the time, I just white balance by looking at the screen and changing the kelvin values until I think it looks good. Later on, you should look into shooting RAW and learning how to edit the photos on a computer. The difference between shooting JPEG and editing a RAW file, the results are crazy.
Your aren't helping my desperate want to move to full frame...really find the s5 appealing, I'm very much photography, but dying to venture into video work seriously too... Running a Canon M50 at the moment as it's where my budget could get me at the time but low light is a bit of a kicker.. personally find it pretty grim above iso 600/800 at a push

What do you think about baking in rec 709 conversion lut into the footage in the S5II - I need quick turnaround could it be helpful
