Loved this. This is more realistic for people with a low budget. You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune buying supplies to start saving so I really love these budget friendly ideas ❤
For my quarters I use the mini m&m container, the plastic ones you get at check out. The regular size will hold $20 while the small one holds $10. My mom used to do it to keep change in the car when we had to pay tolls and I still use it today.
My dad did this there was 4 of us kids and we each got a tube when he got paid n he kept each one after we finished them and if he needed more tube he try n get one of us to want mini m&ms instead of a different candy when we went for groceries lol
I do this with my calculator on my phone. Also what I like about the phone you can look at your history of all the equations you did that day just incase you mess up and you forgot your last total
Ok how do you do that? Is that on the iphone? because I don't like using my calculator on my phone because sometimes I accidentally clear everything and lose track of my calculations@@dinahfisher
All great ideas to save and not spend to save, if that makes sense lol Made all my own when i first started 3 yrs ago, and still use most of them today. My favorite hack is taking photo albums and putting money in each slot. You can personalize it for your very own amounts you desire, and once its complete, restart as many time as you like.
Washi tapes as well could work for making the index cards envelopes! Most of us journalers probably have a stash to use up. And it decorates them. Such great tips for starting off cheaper!
Girl you are speaking my language. As a person who publishes Budget Videos, this is a constant message. If you have lots of money, spend it, but if you are trying to get out of debt or save for the future, nothing fancy is needed. Great job finding all these budget friendly goodies. I also make most of my stuff but that is because as a long-time paper crafter, I have all the tools.
Such an amazing video and so refreshing to see a budgeter actually saving you money instead of flashing a ton of accessories that would use up all the sinking funds you intended to put in them! I have just bought a few accessories on Temu before I saw this, but I’ll for sure be using the 100 envelope challenge method you showed. I’m a new subscriber and I love your channel. Keep it up 💕💕
Aww thank you so much! I do love all of my fancy budget items but I agree that it is important to show that you don't have to have all of that to start the cash envelope system!
Hi Desiree! This was an awesome video. Thank so much for providing affordable options for cash stuffing. I shop at Dollar Tree frequently and never thought of these alternatives for cash stuffing. I’m relatively new at this budgeting process and I am excited to try some of these options. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your advice on how to DIY on a budget 😊❤👏🏽
Omg yes dollar tree is my best friend lol. When I first started stuffing I used the coupon accordion their calculator and a small dollar tree notebook. Worked great for a beginner.
Hi Becca! Congratulations on your new baby! We have a house we rent. The last renters left 2 of their pits there. One was pregnant and we ended up keeping one of the babies too. So now we have 3 and they are so sweet!!
Some banks will give you coin wrappers for free. I've used those small file folders for years. Paper envelopes work just as well. They can be clipped together. I really like how you think! You're so clever and creative. I use what I have to make what I need. When I saw you open the box of paper envelopes, I realized you could let that be a 100 envelope box and put a number on each envelope, and then just stuff the paper envelopes... If you buy a box of 100 envelopes. You are so, SO ingenious!!!
I loved 😍 the last one envelopes, the index cards. I'm trying to save for a car, these ideas will also help with my doctor bills, because everything else is auto pay out of my bank account and also help put money away for my bird seed, cat food litter, and household items. Thank you ever so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule and explaining this video so easy to understand.
Thank you so much for showing that idea with the envelope. Because that's what I wanted to use. Because this is all new to me and everything is so cute. You just want to buy buy buy. And you're supposed to be saving, so thank you so much for the idea.
You are a great friend, beauty, it’s so nice of you to spend your time just to make life easier for your subscribers, I love you and your comfortable videos, I wish you huge money and the best audience💖
I love the DIY items that you share on your channel! I fell into that Etsy buying issue and ended up spending tons of money on things either I used for a short amount of time or things I’ve never gotten around to using! I can see where people can fall into the Etsy Buying situation, and just buying either too much or buying things they don’t need or buying things just because of how nice they look! You’re absolutely right those envelopes take a ton of time to put together, and I love the fact that you showed us how to do those in another video and a step-by-step process! Definitely agree with you. There are much cheaper items out there on the market that people can do or they can even use the free version of things, such as canvas to make their own savings challenges, and things of that sort of nature.
These are all great ideas. Love the 100 envelope challenge one and the one with the regular envelopes. Will definitely be doing those. Also love how you laminated the challenge sheet.
Love this! Thank you for sharing! I get the box of envelopes with the seal and i seal it close, fold them in half and cut and thats how i got my 100 envelopes to fit in my box
Love your video & ideas! I have some extra tips for you in case they may help. I used these when I first started out. 1) use what you have at home. I used stickers, crayons, colored paper or washie tape to decorate my plain envelopes. 2) use the envelopes that come in the mail for bills that you don’t use and decorate them with stickers & markers. 3) create a small budget saving challenge by using 1 or 2 dice. Put that number in your envelope. It adds up! 4) some budget community folks offer free saving challenges. You just have to print them. Hope some of these help! Great job! 😊
Desiree these are such fun ideas!!! I LOVE the 100 Envelopes challenge, and using the mailing envelopes with the Jot labels. And HOW CUTE is the cardstock for the savings challenges!? Such creative ideas, I love them all. And I've been on a Dollar Tree ban this month, so you can bet once August 1st rolls around I'm going to do a restock of my DT stationery supplies so I can get goin on some of these lol. Hope you're having a great weekend!
I definitely go to dollar tree for saving supplies...i dont see the need to spend more when you trying to save.great video btw...some of thes savings videos make u feel u need the cute fancy envelopes and planners to save.
Those jot divider tabs are A+. Don't sleep on those. I like them better than the Avery brand one ones. They are thicker and take all pens types better❤
I had no idea this was a movement! I started doing cash only spending back in 1999 when Suze Orman suggested it on TV. She said to take mailing envelopes. That’s what I still do! I only stuff envelopes that I’ll use in the near future: groceries, home supplies, HBA, clothing, splurges, etc. Everything else stays in the bank. I have automatic savings transfers into my savings each month. No need to spend to save. But, you do a great job keeping the costs down. Good luck in your journey!!
Budgeting doesn't have to be an expensive affair. Spending a lot of money to save makes no sense. You can always build up once you're in the position to do so. I made my box envelopes the same way, only I stapled the sides. I used old extra card stock. I also used the garage sale price stickers to create my own savings challenges. I used scratch off stickers as well.
Very creative and affordable ideas. Thank you for sharing. I have used the small white envelopes for cash stuffing before but never thought to cut the top off and punch them for my cash binder.
Thank you so much for filming this video I wanted to start this challenge but I didn't know where to start and get all the things I need. Now i know I can just make it for a $1.25 cheap and easy. Thank you.
I really enjoyed your video, lots of useful tips I will be using as I am making a cash budgeting and savings challenges binder set up for my oldest. Thank you
My bank has a coin machine in the corner and you use it and take it to the teller and they just add it to your account so I absolutely love that feature about my Bank when paying with cash I always use bills and save my change and then going at the end of the month and turn my change in

I have those larger dollar tree index cards. I cut them a little bit. I use them as labels for my envelopes. That way I don’t write on the envelopes or put stickers on them.
I bought one of those small files...blue and white clear too. And a few of the other items from dollar tree last year so I can start using them for this year.
New to your channel, loved all your ideas. Can't wait to get started on a budget. I work at the Dollar Tree, now I'll be looking at items in a different way. 😉 I thought your video was also a wonderful asmr. Made me feel very relaxed. Thank you I will be sharing
This video is so helpful, Desiree. Thank you so much! I was making my shopping list for Walmart and Dollar Tree while watching. I can't wait to try your systems.
@@imjaime100 cute is in eye of beholder for starts and use your imagination to "do plastic surgery " on items. Example; if have markers already, draw picts on item, I got a canister past xmas filled w/ candy and I use it to save change for yr ,
for the laminated savings challenges, a wet-erase marker would work really well to make them reuseable so you dont have to keep making or buying them! and they should stay marked until you wash them.
Not gonna lie it's hard to find that one but you can find a better quality one at walmart for a few dollars more and they always stock them. or there are some on amazon amzn.to/45xRj4Z
This was the first of your videos I’ve seen and you shared some very good ideas! Loved it! I just subscribed and can’t wait to see more of your videos. Thanks for sharing!
You can take a box of regular envelopes and seal them and cut them in half and use them for the 100 envelopes.
yes that's a great idea!
Great idea!
Yes that is exactly what I did!!
thats what i am doing
Sounds good to me
Loved this. This is more realistic for people with a low budget. You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune buying supplies to start saving so I really love these budget friendly ideas ❤

Omg I remember keeping those and storing things in them such a good idea!
I'm old so have prescription medicine bottles that I keep coins in. I keep 1 just for quarters, most of us have some, again no extra money
My dad did this there was 4 of us kids and we each got a tube when he got paid n he kept each one after we finished them and if he needed more tube he try n get one of us to want mini m&ms instead of a different candy when we went for groceries lol
I had a heart transplant so I have plenty of pill bottles to fill with quarters perfect size. Use at car wash
Wait this is brilliant. Thank you for sharing!
Taking a calculator to the grocery store is SUCH A GOOD TIP for preventing impluse buys and keeping track of your money to stay on budget!!!
Yes it really helps!
I have an Android, same calculator. Mine has a clock symbol to see the calculation history.
I always jot the total up on a piece of paper as I add items to the cart, I’m old fashioned, lol
All great ideas to save and not spend to save, if that makes sense lol
Made all my own when i first started 3 yrs ago, and still use most of them today.
My favorite hack is taking photo albums and putting money in each slot. You can personalize it for your very own amounts you desire, and once its complete, restart as many time as you like.

@@ameliajoylynvave4482 Awesome 🙂
I love this idea. Thanks
You have one of THE BEST beginner budgeter videos there is out there. You even gave me ideas and I have been doing it for a year. Bravo.!
Way to go!!! Very helpful alternatives. When the goal is to save money it makes no sense to spend to get there.
Washi tapes as well could work for making the index cards envelopes! Most of us journalers probably have a stash to use up. And it decorates them. Such great tips for starting off cheaper!

The washi tape idea is awesome!
Our dollar tree has washing tape too!
What a great idea!! 🎉
I thought the same thing.

Our bank has a coin star type machine that doesn’t charge for account holders. Super nice!
That is awesome!
Mine does too so I have been using it since they put them in. I was rolling them.
I took a pack of 50 envelopes, cut them in half and numbered them ¹ to 100. I used a box like that...but you can use any small box and decorate to up
Such an amazing video and so refreshing to see a budgeter actually saving you money instead of flashing a ton of accessories that would use up all the sinking funds you intended to put in them!

Yes! Thank you!
If you seal the envelope and cut it in half, it is the perfect size for a folded up bill, AND that box is enough for the 100 challenge.
