You had a little bad luck. Swiss is usually so amazing in business class, escpecially on the B777

I was honestly in chock over how bad it was. Food was awful.. wish I took a picture and that useless tin.. Not flying with them ever again.
I fly SWISS Business quite often. I had amazing flights/crews and others that we really criminal. That's a pity.

I feel like their overall product on their 777’s and refurbished A340’s is much better than the one on their old A330’s :(

Business/1st class great for long flights ✈️ but around Europe or short flights better economy.
Happychicx sub 6-7 hours I always go economy unless it’s a long haul with connection manc-Qatar-bali then it’s business ..
But anywhere in Europe I don’t care unless I’m chasing points
Business class on European short haul flights is just the same seat as economy with the middle seat blocked off.
Hard to judge an airline on a short overnight flight like that. Ive had excellent experiences with Swiss on the A330, A340 and 777

I usually love your videos and reviews, but I have to disagree with you on this one Dan. I've flown them several times SFO-ZUR and have always been impressed. Seat, food and service. Maybe its that odd routing and your 91yo grandmother coming out.

@@annadaae26 Are you the 777 or A330? on the 777 I do like the throne seats when flying alone, although you'll pay extra for them. I know a lot of people don't like them because they are a bit tight. But I like having my own space and not share with a stranger.

Personal service and Air France... yeah, gonna stop right there.
About the meal complaints: On the MCT-DXB Route they don't give you a big meal for one simple reason: You wouldn't be eating anymore when they serve dinner to their DXB passengers which also have to get dinner. So they serve this little kind of snack to keep you from totally starving untill they can serve all passangers a full dinner after DXB. The Emirates flight includes a whole meal simply because it is simply the flight DXB-MCT. They don't have to worry about later joining passengers.
Hmmm how much did Air France sponsor you to rate them highly for service...? Granted KLM attendants are friendly but unfortunately do not make up for the 2-2-2 hard product, nor do the gin miniature houses.

I love to fly with Swiss and in my opinion it's a great Business Class. I love the design of the interior and the service and food was fantastic every time so far. 👍😁

Joel Benz yes! A220 from Manchester to Prague via Zurich and then back into Zurich onto BKK ... so YES ... not to mention half a million KM over the last year ... not very good
I couldn’t imagine any saying anything like that until now. You can’t just judge a airline so severely on one flight. When you said “they just don’t invest in there business class”. Swiss’s businesses class is just like every other airlines, luxurious and nice.
I love flying Swiss business from North America to Europe, it is excellent quality.

The irony. The only time ever I flew business class was on Swiss, back in 1998 or 99. I loved the experience. I used KLM in 1995 when I moved from Hamburg to Chicago with my cats I h.d asked an employee at Schipol to see to it that they get some ice cubes, which did not happen. THe poor kitties were rather dehydrated when we arrived. I have not used KLM since. :-)
Meanwhile 50 tons of plastic in economy class at Emirates .. while you got a fresh small snack for your 35 minutes flight to Dubai .. well everyone has his own favorites and opinions
+1 I didn't get him shaming what he received either, especially, since the Emirates food offering, had he unpacked it was really not much to write home about.

I used United miles for a roundtrip from/to LAX recently. To Europe on Swiss, to LAX on Austrian. I thought both experiences were just fine, no complaints at all. I do always enjoy your reviews, but this one was a bit harsh. Still gave the video a like.
How funny, I am looking at doing the same. To Europe on Swiss and return on Austrian.
Completely disagreeing on this one. I think the Swiss Business class product is one of the best within Europe ( of course you cannot compare it with the likes of Qatar, Sing., etc. But they’re just a different level) Maybe give it another shot !

I am regular flyer with Swiss (and Lufthansa) in premium class. Off course the limited service is because of the red-eye flight. In Zurich you can have a extended breakfast at the Arrival Lounge where you also can enjoy a shower. I am very happy with Swiss and Lufthansa and it gives me a good feeling to know that the staff gets a fair wage and worker's rights are respect.
I've heard "rumors" that it is a totally different story at Qatar airways and Emirates...

I didn’t think it looked too bad, but that stop in Dubai was a little awkward. The deal breaker for me would have been the lack of air vents and a hot cabin. That’s a sure way to make me a sick, unhappy passenger! Nice video, as usual!

Hhmm, seems like you got the short end of the stick (The Swiss touch can be pretty nice...) on that specific route-midnight flight on a medium haul flight with a stopover. Generally Swiss is much better than KLM and way, way superior to AF, at least on the flights over the Atlantic.

The meal so so small as it was late in the night. That is also why it is called a “ mid night snack “ It’s mean to be a snack not a meal. Secondly the Emirates flight was during the day so obviously you get more food.

I think you just had an unlucky flight with Swiss. I flew in their A330 twice and they have so far been my best flights.

I had the same experience from JFK to Zurich. Luckily I upgraded only at the last minute for cheap.
You must get really unlucky because I believe it depends on the route I work for the Swiss and Lufthansa in BOS we get high ratings our flights are never an issue unless cancelled or delayed it depends on the crew and the route not the product ALWAYS

Gonna have to disagree with you here Dan. What Swiss is going from them are individual seats in J. If you look at United or its sisters airline Lufthansa business class has twin seats meaning a neighbour you have to step over or be inconvenienced by. I'd also argue that you shouldn't judge service quality on every route. Clearly MCT > ZRH is not their flagship route and doesn't attract their best and brightest. Try ZRH > NYC or ZRH > TYO.

I had a downright nasty experience with Swiss a few years ago, where they were completely unwilling to accommodate the disability I have.
Won't get into detail but Aeroplan handled things extremely well and rebooked me on Brussels Airlines without any change fees. Had absolutely no problems on Brussels Airlines either. The strange thing is that the product is actually better on Brussels Airlines because all the single seats are Throne seats, save for one.

Funny I think the exact opposite I love flying with swiss and had only bad experiences with air france.
I only flew swiss on the Zürich Tokyo route though so that might make a difference.
I‘ll fly SWISS Business class for my first time in September, also in an A330. I‘ll let you know how my flight will have been then. :)

PointsTravelHappiness - thanks mate, for the reminder! :D Well, I flew the route ZRH-YYZ with Air Canada (B777) and YUL-ZRH with SWISS (A330). I must say that I was impressed by the service of LX in their business class. The service and friendliness of the crew were fantastic rather than onboard the Air Canada flight to Toronto where the crew was pretty strict and did their service in a hurry. Also, the food: quality was much better on SWISS than AC. It seems like LX has higher standards, in my opinion. However, you had a more extensive collection of beverages and menu options on Air Canada. The seat wasn’t the best on SWISS but understandable as it is older than on the B777 of Air Canada. To sleep, it was a bit uncomfortable as the seat wasn’t vast. IFE was better on Air Canada but somewhat decent on SWISS as well.
Overall, I think SWISS was much better in their soft product than Air Canada. Of course, every flight is different, and Dantorp might have caught a flight not so good than mine. Also, it was my first flight with SWISS in business and in comparison to my favourite airline, Cathay Pacific, maybe not on top but definitely within my Top 10. But I would fly SWISS anytime again!

Actually, I really wanted to fly United Polaris but I had to grab these tickets for the low price of 140k United Miles per ticket. I'm hoping Swiss is better than Polaris ;). I'm surprised you had such a bad service but I think as many have put it, it's an overnight flight where it takes place completely at night. I fly MIA to ZRH often and the full dinner service is a 5-course meal. It's such a nice service that it takes almost 1.5h to complete which if you are trying to get some sleep, 1.5h on an 8h flight isn't worth giving up. I usually just ask for the main course or express meal. FYI travelers, express meal on Swiss, the FA literally goes into the galley and gets you your meal first.
I just booked a ZRH-MIA flight in business--do you still fly that route? Any other thoughts you can share? I'm excited about it because it will be my son's first time flying in a business lie-flat seat 🙂

Oh, I like the transition to more 'aviation entertainment'. Really enjoyed the video. I think that LX is under constant pressure by LH to be as profitable as possible. Inevitably, that reflects in the product/service.

Thanks for the info and your watch looks super-cool and ritzy but at a better price. As far as temperatures on aircraft, you are correct that it should be left to a neutral like 70-72F temp and just let the customer adjust downward with a vent to turn up or off.
When I did a night flight on Swiss they gave us the option to have a real meal or a quick meal
I will still fly Swiss because they offer best service in Europe

I really think that you need to fly Swiss business on a 777; I did from ORD-ZRC and I had a wonderful experience.
Would be nice if you'd try the new Brussels Airlines business class some time, on their videos it looks amazing! Not sure if they have it on every aircraft yet though.

Dan... I'm about to suggest something but not sure if you did it before... I can't find a video of you with those reviews that I'm about to suggest: ALITALIA and LUFTHANSA long haul... I have had very good experience on board with a very consistent quality...LH do not have all seats aisle access but who cares, there is god space to pass over the passenger next to you... and service is absolutely fantastic AZ is much better today and like the new seats... I'm also agreed with you in best of Europe... AF and KL definitely is one of my best and have found AY very good as well. Thank you.

Business on a Swiss a330 ORD-ZRH was far better than a recent Delta 767-400 JFK-FCO. No, it can't compare to my Qatar flight ATL-DOH-SIN, but not much can...maybe Emirates or Etihad. I'd say the food and service on Swiss were on the same level as Cathay Pacific on a HKG-JFK flight. Guess you had a conspiracy of bad coincidences.

I think to judge an Airline in general on a short flight is not really representative. I ❤️ wearing my Swiss Watches by the name Swatch they are simply great 😊 and not expensive too. So I prefer Swiss Swatches anyway.🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭

You have to fly the 777‘s business class. And like much other airlines, the old business and first are worse than the new one.

Always great that you're honest about your reviews. Business class is great but I'll never pay cash so much like you often use miles earned from flying and creditcards. Always looking for new airlines in the Star Alliance network or One World to redeem award tickets in business class so Swiss will be one I avoid. Would you recommend Cathay Pacific?
